GW Admin Object API cannot commit actual changes on Vista

It appears to be the case that you can't commit changes through the
Groupwise Admin Object API to a groupwise user on a Vista box.
I've tested VS 2008 using .net 3.5 and vista sp1.
I've tested Delphi 2005 win32 apps and vista sp1.
The apps work right on xp and not right on Vista.
Here's the behavior:
Take your code that works on xp and changes a value.
Put it on an Vista box.
If, for example, you change the phone number of a groupwise user to
111-222-3333
If it already has that value, the commit call works just fine.
If it doesn't, it hangs for a minute then generates a commit failed, not
changing the value.
You also see it trying to create a Groupwise user.
As far as read only functions go, those work just fine.
The clock is ticking on xp as far as patch releases are going and the
rumoured Administrative soap library for groupwise isn't out yet. This
means whenever we have to go to Vista and Micro$$$$ quits releasing patches
for XP we're stuck with
a) Use an underpatched XP box.
b) You can't get there from here.
If anyone can prove me wrong by changing values on Groupwise users and
committing them on a VISTA SP1 or later box, I'm all ears. Otherwise, we
may be on a sinking ship.
Comments welcome, I only ask that you try your code out on Vista sp1+ before
you tell me I'm wrong.

I got a Vista box I can test against if I get a free moment I'll attempt to
do just as you say and see what I get....

  • I am logged in as Admin user, but cannot unlock and change system settings-why?

    I am the admin user on my iMac with OS-X 10.7.5. When I open up system preference and try to change anything, the lock on the bottom won't unlock. What gives?

    Bizzare... it fixed itself. Same password.
    I noticed that the time was off by about 20 mins and wanted to adjust, but couldn't unlock the system preferences. The time & date preferences suggested turning on the wi-fi (I normally use a cable to connect to the internet) and when I did the date & time synched itself.
    After that, I was messing around under the desk and accidentally switched off the power strip. When I rebooted, I went into the preferences, and low & behold, the lock was unlocked. I can lock & unlock it (with prompt for admin password) normally.
    Strange.
    Everything is working the way its supposed to, but I am going to get replacement disks from AppleCare anyway just in case.
    Thanks for the advice.

  • IView and system admin objects appear changed or not registered when transported

    Hi,
    Recently we moved a few objects - iViews, pages and roles as epa and system admin objects as config archive and imported them manually to Test system. But when checked in the next landscape, the iView properties appear different. Eg. In Development system, the iView was unchecked for visibility option i.e. iView should not be visible. But when transported to test system, the property was checked and gave error. On reimporting, the same thing happened and we had to manually correct the property. This is not an expected behaviour and manual changes are not to happen after development changes.
    Similarly, though config archive import showed the 2 new system objects in the respective location of Test system, the expected functionality was not working. I checked this by deleting one of them and manually creating the same entry and it worked fine. So I also had to delete the 2nd one and create a manual entry. The system admin objects we used pertained to System Configuration  --> Content Mgmt--> Form Based Publishing --> Forms Availablity --> Folder Settings
    We also moved kmcs and they are reflecting properly with correct folder permissions.
    We don't understand why this is so occurring (iView and system admin entry appearing different or not getting registered )and never experienced such a case in previous projects. We don't want to face the issue going forward when transporting changes to staging and Prod systems.
    Please assist as to what went wrong or any probable cause and solution for same.
    Thanks,
    Janani

    Hi,
    Has anyone faced such a situation before and know the reason for same ?

    According to a web and support forum search, myself and another person, Chloe in the Dreamweaver Club forum, have ever reported this. Trying to follow along a Lynda.com tutorial, and the instructor isn't getting this error. Can't imagine why it's happening. I'd be very grateful for any help. I'm also getting an error dialog message:

    SQL Error: ORA-04092: cannot COMMIT in a trigger
    I need to drop the table based on the some condition say condition is the archive table with more than millions of records which is of no use so i plan to drop the table.
    I will be inserting the the unwanted table to mytable ,mytable which is having the trigger will fire to drop the table.
    I need this to be done on automatic basis so i have chosen trigger.
    is there anyway of automatic other than trigger in this case.

    is there anyway of automatic other than trigger in this case.You can't COMMIT inside a trigger. Oracle issue an auto COMMIT before and after the execution of DDL. So you can't use DDL in trigger. You may get suggestion to use AUTONOMOUS_TRANSACTION to perform COMMIT within tirgger. But dont do that. Its wrong idea.
    I will suggest you look back into your requirement and see what exactly you want. You could schedule a job that runs on a daily basis that will pick up the object details from your table and drop them accordingly.

  • "Object Picker cannot open because no locations from which to choose objects can be found"

    Hi,
    When I try in AD management console in the domain controller to add a new group for a user I get the following error:
    "Object Picker cannot open because no locations from which to choose objects can be found" error message when you try to select objects from an Active Directory domain in Windows 2000
    Our domain controller is a W2000 cluster (two W2000 advanced server machines) and this happens in one of the nodes of the controller while in the other node it Works well (the difference between them is where it fails, has the resources: print,
    file sharing and quorum services). Both nodes of the controller have the remote registry service disabled and in the node where it fails when you start this service it works well but I don`t think this is the reason because in the other node with remote registry
    service disabled it works. Solutions from the following support articles don`t work:
    kb 263231
    kb 284914
    I have checked that the situation is independent of the domain administrator who tries to add the group to the user.
    Can anybody help me? Which is the reason of this different behaviour from one cluster node to another ?
    Thanks.

    Hi Milos,
    Thanks for your answer but I think this is not the case because the problem is not with NTFS and we don' have these problems:
    Users or groups that have Full Control access cannot delegate permissions.
    Users who have Full Control access cannot make permission changes on a DFS share.
    If you give the non-privileged user the right to log on locally and you log on locally to the file server where the error message occurs, you can successfully edit the ACL.
    It only happens with the AD management console. Now, for us it is not posible to upgrade the system.

  • HT1549 How do I read write to an external drive?  I am under admin account and cannot read write to any folder on the external drive.

    I have a Mac Mini with Mavericks installed, as well as a PC running Windows 7.  I want to be able to read write from both computers to an external drive on the Mac.  I created 2 folders on the drive and named them Movies, and TV Shows.  The content of those folders are the respective files. I set up both folders to be shared on the Mac under system preferences, and then mapped the drives on the PC.  I also created a user account with admin privileges on the mac that matched my PC.   I then copied a Music folder to the root drive instead of using external, and set up sharing as well.  File Sharing is selected for all three folders, however the music folder is the only one which allows me to change the permissions to allow read write to everyone, or to create individual user accounts to connect with read write permissions.  The options to add users or change permissions are simply grayed out for the two folders on the external drive, so not only can I not write from my PC, but I can’t even do it on the Mac with the administrative user logged in. The folder on the root drive is fine but I cannot make any changes to the external drive at all.  Get info for any folder on drive shows read only.  SMB and AFP are selected for all folders under options.  I can access all three folders from PC, but can only add files to the Music folder. I cannot do anything from either computer to the folders on the external drive.

    Try Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility - select the drive and run Repair Disk.

  • IllegalStateException: strict servlet API: cannot call getWriter()

    I am getting an exception in Weblogic when I am trying to display a pdf file in a web page.
    java.lang.IllegalStateException: strict servlet API: cannot call getWriter() after getOutputStream()
    I am using the following code code
    ByteArrayOutputStream baos;
    ServletOutputStream out = response.getOutputStream();
    baos.writeTo(out);
    I have seen this error in so many discussion forum and there is no proper solution for this error.
    I am able to see the pdf page even with this exception. But I want to get rid of this exception also from Weblogic.

    I just did a quick (and dirty!) test with the following to display a jpg image and it worked for me without any trace of an exception:
        @Override
        protected void doGet(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response)  throws ServletException, IOException {
            response.setContentType("image/jpg");
            File f = new File("/Users/me/Desktop/IMG_0032.JPG");
            byte[] bits = new byte[(int) f.length()];
            FileInputStream fos = new FileInputStream(f);
            fos.read(bits);
            ByteArrayOutputStream baos = new ByteArrayOutputStream();
            baos.write(bits, 0, bits.length);
            baos.writeTo(response.getOutputStream());
            baos.close();
            fos.close();
        }Note that there is no call anywhere to response.getWriter() in that.
    I'd guess the exception is directing you at what the problem is, at least as the server is seeing it -- somewhere in the execution of the request path there would appear to be call to response.getWriter() occurring after a call to response.getOutputStream() has been called, which is not permitted on WLS according to the error message.
    Do you use filters on this app? If response.getWriter() has been called on the same response object in a post request filter phase, that would be on the same call path with the same response object and would result in the exception.

    thanks for you reply. but seems we don't call getWriter() at all in our code.
    actually this error only happen in our customer's env, no this issue in our development env.
    besides using getOutputStream() and getWriter() simultaneously for same response, is this maybe related with some web server configuration?

  • The admin server AdminServer cannot be restarted.

    Hi OTN,
    I face this problem really often.
    In WebLogic console I have done some changes with security realms.
    Adter I click "Save" it says I nned to restart server for changes to take effect.
    I click go Change Center -> View changes and restarts -> Restart Checklist and see AdminServer here.
    I check it (the checkbox) and click Restart. In reply I have the following message:
    The admin server AdminServer cannot be restarted.All of the servers selected are currently in a state which is incompatible with this operation or are not associated with a running Node Manager or you are not authorized to perform the action requested. No action will be performed.>
    What should I do with it?
    Thanks.

    Scenario with AdminServer and ms1, no cluster.
    - created a DS and targeted to ms1.
    - ms1 is up & running and tests with DS are OK
    Test 1. Changing URL to DS
    - once the URL was modified, WLS thrown these messages:
    MS1: "All changes have been activated. However 1 items must be restarted for the changes to take effect."
    MS2: "Settings updated successfully."
    - in the Restart Checklist, the JDBC resource is ready to be restarted. The DS is targeted to ms1
    - select the DS and click over Restart button and we got the message : "All of the servers selected are currently in a state which is incompatible with this operation or are not associated with a running Node Manager or you are not authorized to perform the action requested. I am new to Oracle Forms, and would really appreciate your kind response.
    I am using Oracle Forms 6i, Client/Server environment, and no base tables.

    I also notice in Data Block - Control that I am still in QUERY mode after INSERTING records. Shouldn't I be in CHANGED mode, and if so how do I make sure I am in the correct mode after inserting records?

    So we tried using: FORMS_DDL('COMMIT'); which works. However we cannot get the Clear_Block to Work. All other codes commented out does not work.
    Data Block: CONTROL
    - Items: COPY_USER
    - Triggers: WHEN-BUTTON-PRESSED
    Copy_User_Role_locations (:CT_SEUS_ID, :CF_SEUS_ID);
    IF :System.Form_Status <> 'QUERY' THEN
    Message('Error prevented Commit');
    RAISE Form_Trigger_Failure;
    End if;
    IF :System.Form_Status = 'QUERY' THEN
    Display_Message('QUERY MODE');
    END IF;
    IF :System.Form_Status = 'CHANGED' THEN
    Display_Message('CHANGED MODE');
    END IF;
    IF :System.Form_Status = 'NEW' THEN
    Display_Message('NEW/INSERT');
    END IF;
    IF Form_Success THEN
    display_message('Security user created Sucessfully '||:ct_seus_id);
    FORMS_DDL('COMMIT'); ---------This works
    FORMS_DDL('CLEAR_BLOCK'); --Does not work
    -- do_key('commit_form'); --Does not work
    -- clear_block; --Does not work
    -- set_block_property( 'header', INSERT_ALLOWED, PROPERTY_true);
    -- clear_form(DO_COMMIT); --Does not work
    END IF;
    Program Units: COPY_USER_ROLE_LOCATIONS
    This section fetches records with matching Security-ID, and INSERTS a copy of the record with the new ID. No commits is done in this section.

    Gerd,
    No the Header Block was not created through the Block_Wizard. The Form was copied from another, and modified accordingly. I inherited it with these issues which I am trying to fix.
    Omar,
    I tried using the Go_Block procedure with Clear_Block, but unfortunately it still did not work. I also tried doing Clear_Form, same results. Below are the codes I used in SAVE button, where I tried to commit and clear_block (Note that Display_Message is an inhouse function):
    Data Block: CONTROL
    Items: SAVE
    Triggers: When_Button_Pressed
    Display_Message('save..');
    FORMS_DDL('COMMIT');
    IF Form_Success THEN
    Display_Message('Transaction Completed Sucessfully');
    else
    Display_Message('Failure to Commit Security_User');
    end if;
    Go_Block('CONTROL');
    CLEAR_BLOCK ;
    ---CLEAR_FORM;
    IF Form_Success THEN
    Display_Message('Transaction Cleared Sucessfully');
    else
    Display_Message('Transaction Not Cleared');
    end if;
    Whereas the message "Transaction Completed Successfully" was received when I used FORMS_DDL('COMMIT'), I still got a "Transaction Not Cleared" message, and the data was not cleared from the screen. I would really like to to resolve this issue.
    I also would be grateful if someone could clarify what mode I should be in after Inserting records. Should I be in the Query Mode, or Changed Mode.
    Thanks a mil.
    Sonia.

    How to get the data from mysql database which is being accessed by a PHP application and process the data locally in adobe air application and finally commit the changes back in to mysql database through the PHP application.

    If the data is on a remote server (for example, PHP running on a web server, talking to a MySQL server) then you do this in an AIR application the same way you would do it with any Flex application (or ajax application, if you're building your AIR app in HTML/JS).
    That's a broad answer, but in fact there are lots of ways to communicate between Flex and PHP. The most common and best in most cases is to use AMFPHP (http://amfphp.org/) or the new ZEND AMF support in the Zend Framework.
    This page is a good starting point for learning about Flex and PHP communication:
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flex/flex_php.html
    Also, in Flash Builder 4 they've added a lot of remote-data-connection functionality, including a lot that's designed for PHP. Take a look at the Flash Builder 4 public beta for more on that: http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/flashbuilder4/

  • How do I make a JTable's header sorting actually change the actual table?

    How do I make a JTable's header sorting actually change the actual table?
    Currently, I'm using
    table.setAutoCreateRowSorter(true);to allow the user to sort the table.
    However, I want to be able to load something based on the selected row's index. The problem is that when the table is rearranged, the change appears to only be local, in other words, the actual table isn't changing.
    For instance:
    index 0 "A"
    index 1 "B"
    index 2 "C"
    Sorted in reverse gives me
    "C"
    "B"
    "A"
    But C is still index 2 (instead of 0).
    Thanks in advance.
