HP Pavilion HPE h8-1360t CTO Desktop PC
h8-1360t w/ Intel Core i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40 GHz w/ 16.0 GB RAM was first turned on 5 days ago.
All updates, HP & Microsoft have been installed.
The SYSTEM has BLUE-SCREENED THREE (3) times today, actually over the last FIVE (5) hours.
3 TIMES SO FAR that is, it was first turned on @ 5 days ago.

Yes, i know what you are talking about, i have had my HP 1360t for about a month now and since day 1 when i turned it on it has been going to the HP blue screen of death here and there....and then when i click on find a solution when the computer boots back up there isnt one..... very dissapointing especially seeing as how it was a early christmas present for me and my wife because she started college at my duty station here away from family in japan. h8-1360t w/ Intel Core i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40 GHz w/ 8GB ram.... amd hd radeon 7950, i have no clue what this may be if anybody could help, i would really appreciate it, this feels more and more like a waiste of 1,500 dollars everyday and my wife is mad at me for buying her a christmas present that she wanted but now in her eyes was a waiste of money..... {Personal Information Removed}

  • 3.40 gigahertz Intel Core i7-3770 1Core or a Quad?

I've got a HP desktop computer with a supposedly I-7 quad core chip set. I decided for the first time to ck the core operation in the Task Manger. I only see one graph ( view tab info is greyed out) and I think there should be 4 or more. Looking at the Device Manager under the Processor tab there are 8 sub threads shown all with drivers and working according to Win 7. In the MsConfig under tabs Boot and Advance there is only 1 core shown with no option to add others.
Device manager shows: Process drivers all 8 dated 6/29/2006 (all working) Chip set series C216 SATAAHCI dated 11/29/2011 (working)
In BIOS: Hyper Threading is Enabled and Multiprocessors are enabled
I did find this in Systems Report for the installed processor "Intel Core [email protected] GHZ 3392 MHZ, 1 Core(s) Logical Processor
This machine is still under warrantee and talking to HP about this I got not much of a conclusion of any problem. I spent a couple hours on-line with an HP Tech and the conclusion, since the machine is under warrantee, have it authorized for a hardware ck. This will turn into big deal having to unload my files and later to reinstall my software. I was asked to ck with Intel, before sending the PC in, and info or opinions from them is still pending.
I thought I was buying a quad core PC so do I have a quad core or a 1 core chip?
I’m hoping this 1 core chip si operating as a quad. I don’t know.
    Thanks,
    Roymg

    Fixing a Mavericks Installation Problem
How to manage a failed OS X Mavericks installation | MacFixIt - CNET Reviews.
    Try these in order:
    1. a. Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
        b. Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the
COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and
after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears.
Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    3. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
    4. Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks: Reboot from the Recovery HD. Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks from the Utilities menu, and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

    Hi:
I am looking at the BIOS setup guide for your PC series and it shows there is a VT setting under the device configuration menu for "select models." See Chapter 3 page 6.
    http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01662442.pdf
Here are the specs on the T6500 processor. It does not support VT, which is why the VT setting cannot be enabled.

  • Can I run Lightroom on a PC with an Intel Core 2 Duo CPU?

The specs for Lightroom state that you need a Pentium 4 processor.  My PC has an Intel Core 2 Duo CPU @ 2.2Ghz.  Is this sufficient?
    Thanks.

    Hi vc10,
You can install Lightroom on Core 2  Duo Processor.
P4 processor is the minimum system requirement for it.

I was to ask the same with my processor. I just upgraded my hard drive to 750GB, and replaced my battery, but I am still getting the spinning beachball.  Im happy to just replace the processor if this ball goes away.  I do have 250GB free on it. and Im not doing much with this machine other than the occasional iMovie render.

Open Console in Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when this happens.

If you are running 10.6.8 you can download 10.9 from the App Store and install it with going through 10.7 and 10.8 first. 10.9 Mavericks is a free download in the App Store.
10.9 Mavericks will require at least 2gb of RAM but really needs 4gb to run smoothly.
As for third party programs see this list for compatibility with 10.9 http://roaringapps.com/apps:table
Also Mavericks doesn't run any Power PC programs. To see if you have any Power PC programs go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. When System Profiler comes up select Applications under Software. Then look under Kind to see if any of your applications are listed as Power PC. Universal and Intel will run under Mavericks.
Before Mac switched to Intel processors in 2006 they used Power PC processors from 1994 to 2005. Power PC 601 through 604, G3, G4 and G5. Applications written for the Power PC processors need the application called Rosetta to run on Intel processors. This was part of the Operating System in 10.4 and 10.5 but was an optional install in 10.6. With 10.7 Lion Apple dropped all support for Power PC applications.

So just to be clear on a few things:
Should partitioning the hard drive not work is it undoable?
Will this have any impact on doing a complete erase and reinstall and will that restore it back from the process?
Is there a limited amount of space that makes this process ineffective?
I have never had to do this sort of thing so I just want to be sure I don;t wind up in the dog house *)
    Thanks again

Your Mac meets the requirements but make sure there's enough free disk space.
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure there's a minimum of 15% free disk space.

There are many possible reasons for that.
Most likely a corrupted cookie or cache file for that site may be responsible.
On the Safari menu bar got to Safari -> Empty Cache
Then go to Safari -> Preferences and click on the 3rd symbol from right.
Click on Details -> type the name of the particular site (e.g. facebook) in the search field and delete all upcoming entry's.
Restart Safari and try again to log in on the site.

No. 8 GBs is the maximum, and it had to be installed at purchase as it's hardwired to the motherboard.
