H81M-P33 V2 BIOS instructions?

Hey guys - I am coming from a Core i7 920 OC'd, etc., so some of the BIOS settings in my H81M-P33 V2 are a little ... foreign.  Is there a resource or manual that better explains the "advanced" section under the BIOS?  So far the board has been great for what I need, just wish the manual was a little more comprehensive.
Thanks!

the board has full ties to both outputs and the DVI will use digital signals and the VGA will use the analogue ones so it should work fine using both at the same time as they are separate parts so should work fine!

  • H81M-P33 BIOS HELP PLEASE

I was doing a light gaming build for a customer (Pentium G3258 20th Anniversary edition, MSI H81m-P33 motherboard, 8gb ram and a MSI Gaming R9 270x).
When I went to overclock the board it wouldn't save settings so I updated the bios to the latest version + the intel management engine, it got to 100% after about 2 minuets like the last board I updated (I used this board for another customer and the update went okay) but when it rebooted it's now stuck on a black screen with only a _ showing in the top left corner.
I tried running it with only 1 stick of ram in different slots, with only integrated graphics but it still doesn't come on.
I can also reboot the computer by pressing ctrl, alt and delete at the same time but it just goes back to this screen
Does anyone know a fix? I can send the board back under warranty but I'd rather get it fixed ASAP as the customer is very excited to get their new computer!

Any activity on the USB flash drive?
It had to update ME after the reboot, I assume that did not happen.

  • MSI H81M-P33 Cpu Fan Speed Problem! Urgent

Hi. Bought a H81M-P33 board and got a problem.
I can´t increase my CPU fan Speed to maxium RPM . Tried to use Command Center and Board Bios without any sucess.
This leads to my cpu (i5 4670) getting hot with stock cooler. When I´m encoding a video it reaches 85º. The best solution I had was to connect CPU Fan to Chassis Fan slot on the motherboard and it increased speed, but still it doesn´t increase past a certain value.
What can I do to solve this problem? Tried everything without any luck. The board doesn´t handle CPU fan speed + temperatura increase well. Is not normal to have a CPU stock volts getting hot.
    Thanks

I know that for sure XFM. The thing is that the board isn´t increasing CPU fan speed as it should. Ofc a better cooler would do the job, but even with stock cooler it can be cooler. The problem is that the fan is always in slow mode :|

  • New computer using H81M-P33 Motherboard

I just put together a new computer with all new parts and this H81M-P33 motherboard is the motherboard I got for it. My problem is that there is no display coming from the computer.
I'm using on-board graphics and I don't have a graphics card. I've tried using a VGA and a DVI, neither displayed anything.
The processor is an Intel CORE i3-4130. and the power supply is a Corsair CX500.
Everything is connected properly, and the computer turns on, but there just isn't any display. It doesn't go to anywhere I can even go into the BIOS.
Any help is much appreciated and just ask if there's any other info you need from me.

    Dears,
Perhaps this is due to issues with the 8 series chipsets and the Haswell Refresh CPUS. I found this thread in regards to your board, and am suffering from a very similar issue (no display after restart) on an H81M-E34 board.
Try updating the bios as the person in the following post has tried.

  • H81M-P33 no 4670k OC possible

I bought PC and the H81M-P33 is the board included.
CPU is Intel 4670K, so I tried to see how fast can this top i5 cpu can run...
At first it looked cool, OC letters all over bios and web page...man that was so misleading.
    BIOS on board was 7817v12.
First I tried OC Genie 4: Overclock in 1 Second...what a joke...OC nowhere in sight, and even manual OC was disabled...1600 MHz RAM was downclocked to 1333 MHz...
So I disabled OC genie to be able to try to OC (is this an oxymoron???).
Amazing it virtually allowed me to OC CPU and set RAM to 1600 MHz.
So f10 reboot and voila OC was just virtual.
Frustrated...I downloaded new version of bios 7817v13, flashed it and even more of MSI humor was revealed...now OC was disabled totally.
I am aware that this is low cost board, but misleading is misleading, thank you MSI.

If you need to blame someone:
    http://ark.intel.com/products/75016/Intel-DH82H81-PCH
    Supports Overclocking : No
6 months ago Intel started to force all the motherboard manufacturers to update the BIOS code in order to block the OC on H81, B85 & H87 chipsets.
So if you want to overclock, you need a Z87 chipset.

  • MSI H81M-P33 board and Intel i5 4670K OC is a no go...???

Hi to all, at first I intended to post this on normal thread but I was advised to post here,so...
I bought PC and the H81M-P33 is the board included.
CPU is Intel 4670K, PSU no name 500W, RAM goodram 4gb 1600MHZ, HDD WD blue 500GB SATA 3...and using integrated Intel GPU 4600...
I bought this CPU since after some time I could need some extra power, seller showed me parts that he will use to build this budget PC.
I saw OC on official MSI H81M-P33 web page so it looked fine to me.
    BIOS on board was 7817v12.
First I tried OC Genie 4: Overclock in 1 Second...what a joke...OC nowhere in sight, and even manual OC was disabled...1600 MHz RAM was downclocked to 1333 MHz...
So I disabled OC genie to be able to try to even try to OC.
Amazing it virtually allowed me to OC CPU and I even could set RAM to 1600 MHz.
So...f10...reboot and voila OC was just virtual. Max speed was 3600 MHZ shown on CPU-z when I ran RealBench_v2.0b10_RC6_public_beta...
Frustrated...I downloaded new version of bios 7817v13, flashed it and now even more of MSI humor was revealed...now OC was disabled totally.
I am aware that this is low cost board, but misleading is misleading...or I am doing something wrong???

As I said I quote MSI info from their freaking official web site:
"OC Genie 4: Overclock in 1 Second
OC Genie 4 supercharges your speed experience! When used, OC Genie 4 accelerates your entire system and puts it into overdrive! Tuned by the professional overclockers, OC Genie 4 hands you record-breaking performance on a silver plate.
MSI Command Center is an user-friendly and easy to use app that lets you control every aspect of your motherboard with your mobile device."
After some lies about their board I even Googled a bit...

    http://www.eteknix.com/biostar-enables-h87b85-overclocking-with-bios-update/
Sure it would be nice that retailer could test OC limitations by him self, or even I could do so before buying it...sarcasm...
As from start, I said none help was expected, no official nor one from MSI fans.
My post was suppsed to be purely informatonal for others that could search info on this board.
I would not be surpised to see my that my post was deleted since it shows official info is full of misleading lies.

Have you checked the G Skill site to see which boards they have tested it with? http://www.gskill.com/en/product/f3-12800cl9d-4gbxl  Your board is listed from their side
Then it should work I think.

Do you own this RAM or plan to buy it? Because some users has been experiencing problems with GSkill RAM on MSI boards.
Yes, I plan to buy it for a new PC for a friend of mine.
I did not know there were known problems with GSkill RAM on MSI boards  !!!
I own a GSkill Ripjaws pair (2x4 GB) on my own computer, with a MSI P67 GD-65... I've not experienced almost no problem at all until now (3 years).
A couple of times, when I open the chassis to clean the dust, my desktop refused to boot until I took off and placed back in the ram.

  • XMP option disappeared from H81M-P33 BIOS v1.20

Not sure what's happened here. It was there before in the OC menu. Memory stuck at 1333 instead of 1600. Anything to do with ME drivers or Flash part? I used LU5 - it is getting ridiculous to find just simply newest drivers!
And is the v1.60 BIOS pulled due to QA? The links are dead no matter what region is selected for me.
    TIA

All Haswell platforms, including H81 support DDR3-1600 and that should be available if your CPU supports it.
Your specific CPU though  is limited to 1333 by Intel. http://ark.intel.com/products/77773/
Just as a matter of interest,
There was a flaw with the Intel microcode release as well which allowed the OEMs to find a loophole to OC on H81, B85 and H87 chipset boards. This was exploited and a lot of the manufacturers released BIOS versions for select boards to enable this. Intel has however released a new Microcode to plug the "hole". Well, if people stay on the specific BIOS versions, then they can continue, however MSI did make a statement about this:
    http://moinsights.wordpress.com/2013/09/19/msi-will-not-support-oc-on-h87-b85-and-h81-chipsets/
Thus I suspect your mem OC was available until the new microcode release with the latest BIOS. An unfortunate side effect of updating a BIOS when one doesn't really need to.

  • H81M-P33 bios update now problem

Built the machine about 2 months ago running windows 7 all running fine. MB had V1.4 bios, noticed that version 1.7 was out so thinking I was doing a good thing I updated using Live Update 6. Bios screen pops up, shows V1.7 but will not boot into windows, goes to the Windows Error Recovery screen. I run the recovery program but no go.
I download and decompress V1.7 and AFUDE238 on another PC and load on a USB stick. Run the USB stick in the H81 machine using M-Update, goes through the process and says it was successful, but same problem, goes to the Windows Error Recovery screen. I tried the same thing using the original V1.4 bios on the USB stick and no luck with that either.
Then last but not least, I added the FTP application to the USB along with the other 2 files and still no go.
I hope someone can help, I built this machine for a friend an now feel like an ass for messing up their machine.

    >>Clear CMOS Guide<< with power cord removed
check in BIOS settings, SATA modes, RAID if you use such, boot priority
make sure that all settings are configured correct for your config

  • H81M-P33 and SPI

Does anyone have any experience flashing the bios on the H81M-P33via the SPI interface?  I have bricked my board through my own stupidity.  Being stubborn and not wanting to admit defeat by just sending the board back for reprogramming, I bought the blackcat USB programmer and in theory the winbond W25Q64FV bios chip is supported, but I cannot get the blackcat to recognize any SPI device through the USB port.
I have tried using both power from the blackcat and also an external power supply as I was wondering if low voltage might be a problem with the chip in the motherboard vs programming it in a socket.  No luck.  I looked through the source code for the programmer and there is a cryptic comment next to the line that defines this bios chip:
'Verified (build 325) - Requires #HOLD 'Should work for BV/FV variants
not sure what 'Requires #HOLD' means - whether this a hash define in the code or does the hold socket on the chip need to be driven?  If the latter then how?!
I'm a bit stumped and have not found a lot of info on the web specific to this issue so if anyone has any insights it would be much appreciated.

By that I assume you are referring to the JSPI1 header on the MB?

  • C847IS-P33 last Bios problem

    Hi guys.
I became a father of yet another MSI motherboard!
    it' s the petite C847IS-P33!
a nice diamond for multimedia HTPC...
I just updated the bios (the second and last version, the 7836v11) and what happens?
that in the "hardware monitor" page management CPUFAN fan has disappeared!
    management SYSFAN1 remained only!
so, the 40x40 CPU fan runs full at 12Volt really a propeller's airplane 6000rpm more or less!
I saw that you upload one beta bios for enabling VT-X...
can you do the same for this bug?
    thanks
    max

    response from customer service:

Dear Max, Thanks for contacting MSI technical support.
Regarding your concern, we are sorry That this option for CPU smart fan Has Been hiden since the fan speed can not changed for this MB.
Thanks and sorry for any inconvenience Caused!
Thanks for your cooperation in advance!
    Best Regards,
    MSI Technical Support Tea
objectively I'm not 100% sure if originally the fan of the cpu (varying the voltage) worked in full in any case,
but I seem to remember that instead I had lowered its rotation, and then fan monitoring / pwm there was ..
also because otherwise why would have put the connector (4-pin even)?
pity that the first thing I did before using a little card was done immediately update the bios!

  • BIOS instructions

Can anyone tell me a good source for finding SPECIFIC instructions or descriptions of BIOS settings.
Every time I build a new computer, I am faced with the same thing..... There are always some new items that I have never seen before and the MB books never give a good explaination for them, if at all. They usually just list what the choices are. I can figure out the choices without a book. What I need to know is what do these choices do?
Since every BIOS is different in some way, the information has to be SPECIFIC to the BIOS.
The computer I am listing below in my specs is the newest one I am building, and as usual, I dont understand all the BIOS options. Much of it is the same as always. But some of it is new.
Where do I find this information?
    Thanks
