Had the training, now where to start??

Hello everyone,
I recently attended the formal PRA training at an accredited Oracle trainer and found the traiinng very useful and was also pleased with the tool in general.
The only problem I had was that in the training it was conducted in an ideal world, where we built houses/fences and each project had a maximum of 8 activities. Arriving back at work (and the only person trained in the software), after finishing on the Thursday night, on the Monday morning I was approached with a schedule with 400 activities, no attached risks and dozens of constraints, open ended tasks and broken logic.
Ultimately what I would like to know, is where do I start? where do those experienced in PRA begin and what is there process that they would use for a new schedule/schedule like this?
How do you typically deal with constraints (start on or after, start before etc)?
Any help you can offer would be GREATLY GREATLY appreciated,

Hillegass is definitely the book, but If, like me, you are a complete beginner to Mac programming and Objective-C, you may find it a bit hard to get into. I first downloaded and worked through 'Become an Xcoder' from CocoaLab, which I found very helpful in explaining the basics and I also have a copy of Kochan's Programming in Objective-C. A new edition of Kochan is due in November but you can get the first 7 chapters of the new edition from Safari Rough Cuts. I bought the old edition (which predates Xcode) plus the new chapters and found it useful.

SCCM Client not installing after imaging the computer. Where to start?

Hi,
When I image or re-image a new machine, it will finish successfully but the client will be set to "NO" regardless of how many days I leave it there.
We delete the machine name both on SCCM and Active Directory prior to any image deployment. Therefore, the imaging process is treated as new. Autodiscovery is also enabled except for Network Discovery which we never enabled ever.
We are running SCCM 2012 SP1. Windows 7 both 32 and 64 bit.
If we install the client manually on the workstations, it is fine but it has to be automatic on the server side.

You are right on. Thank you thank you! The client is stuck in provisining mode. This helped me understand the cause of the problem.
However, the solution of setting the provision from true to false in the registry, didn't change the "client install" status from No to Yes. Also, the restart option is already set to the default operating system...
So what I did (and currently testing right now) is disabled the restart option to see if that's the reason it is getting messed up.
Will follow up shortly.

I purchased a "medialess" product key for MS Project Standard 2013.
Where do I get the installer?

The "media-less" SKU is for people who already have the media. If you don't have it, then you will need to either buy the media, download from a MSDN subscription or install an evaluation copy and us your key to activate.

I am not 100% sure, when you download and provide the key, the key will only activate your Project Standard features.
I notice that in the MSDN subscription, that 2013 does not have two installation kits for standard and professional. So I feel confident that the product keys activates what you paid for.
Also, the company you bought it from may also have a place to download it from.

Developing software for OS X for the first time - Where to start

I'm sure this same topic has been posted many times over.
My company developed software for the Windows environment, and because I'm the only one with Macintosh experience they would like me to learn how to and develop the same software for OS X. I was not a developer for the Windows software, but I'll have full access to their coding and what not.
Where is the first place I should look. What tutorial should I read first? What set of applications will I use and which will I use first? What should I purchase (books, software, etc.)? Is there a different approach to this since the software has already been developed for Windows?

My iPad mini is unstable. It will suddenly start jumping around apps and go to the search feature where random keys flash. I've restored it to factory twice. No change. Any ideas?

I have had exactly the same problem now with two mini iPads. Everything was tried; 1) restarting; 2) restoring factory settings etc. NONE worked. Eventually Apple agreed to replace it. I have had the replacement now for two to three months and exactly the same thing is happening again. So off to Apple tomorrow to get another replacement.
I am quite a heavy user of the iPad so wonder if this is something to do with the fault.
It is so frustrating as sometimes reset works, and then after 10/20/30/40 minutes (you pick) it goes unstable again.

Where to start in learning about Radio based systems

are they rf, dect, or wifi based phones? I know you said radio based but there is a difference between the technologies.
If they are a truly radio based system, what band do they use, 2.4ghz, 5ghz, a different frequency that was licensed to you by the fcc?

Just curious if anyone had any resources on where to start out on this.
We have a handheld phone system our material handlers use that is radio based. They were working fine for a while but for some reason we are getting a ton of static over the system now. I don't know much about radio systems but I'm always looking for something new to nerd out on and was curious if anyone had any suggestions on where to start to track down the source of this interference and figure out a way to fix it.
Any advice is greatly appreciated

Is anyone else having the same authorization error when trying to view downloaded tv shows, etc. on apple tv? I had the same problem a few weeks ago and was ultimately advised it was due to some sort of server error.

A few weeks ago I had the same issue where items (tv shows) I purchased on itunes would not show using my apple tv on my main television. It gives me an error stating I need to "authorize" the device/account etc. There is no problem with the authorization it is correct; tv show plays on the computer. The last time this happened the local apple store suggested I bring in my entire imac, hard drive, apple tv, etc. This seemed crazy since I had been able to eliminate that there was a problem with my password, imac, etc. I had also already tried all of the restore, reset, options to include restoring the apple tv, changing password and authorizing everything again. Then I found out via an online discussion there were others having the same problem and it was due to some sort of server issue apple was having. Is anyone else having this problem besides me again?

Apple TV 2. I can watch stuff I downloaded a while ago, but after I downloaded a season of a TV show on Friday night (Oct 28), I got the "Authorization Required" message. Ruined my Friday night trying to troubleshoot this, and found a bunch of posts on this forum about Apple's Servers being down can cause this. Since I'd done nothing different to my setup, I assumed that indeed "Apple's servers being down" was causing my grief.
It's now Oct 31st, and I'm still getting the error on the newly-downloaded stuff. So either Apple's servers are having serious grief (and passing it on to me!) or else there might be something else after all.
I've de-authorized and re-authorized my computer (I never thought for a second it would help because I can play "older stuff". Everything in my TV shows folder is bought from iTunes - i.e., it's all completely legit. We haven't even vacuumed behind the TV(!!) so we haven't disturbed anything... And the key info is that I can play stuff purchased prior to Oct 28th, but the stuff I purchased on Oct 28th hets the "Authorization required" message.
Does anyone have any ideas?

To anyone who has had the trackpad problem and had it replaced...

So if anyone has had the trackpad problem where it doesn't click or erratically doesn't move the cursor, and HAS gone to the apple store and had it fixed, does your new one work properly now?
I have an appointment this evening to have it looked at (and probably replaced) but if this is a consistent problem with all models, its not going to fix it. I am wondering if I should wait until Apple catches on to this, and does something about it.
Anyone have any success stories?

My suggestion would be to KEEP your MacBook. There are several other discussions with the same issue.
It seems as though this issue is widespread.
Why copy data, wipe the old one clean, trade out for a new MacBook, transfer all the data BACK .... only to find your issue unresolved?
It's not worth the hassle. My guess? Apple will issue a firmware update for the trackpad issue.

That change was made in Firefox 4, 6 months ago.

I've been having the same issue, but have just discovered something on my own that hasn't been pointed out in any of the forums I've visited. In what I thought would be a vain attempt to help myself, I went to System Preferences, Users & Groups, and then clicked on Login Items. I discovered that one of the Items that was listed to open automatically upon login was iTunes Helper and that there was an exclamation point beside it indicating that it was incompatible. I simply deleted that item and now I don't have the situation you described and my wireless is connected. Hope this helps!

Well, go to a library or friends house & download file. Do not expand. copy to zip drive. etc.
Here is how to download iCab from the terminal. the curl command reads html page. I fished out the download link. I think you want 501. To get link, click on what download you want. In the page that comes up . Look at the http source. search for auto & copy link.

When photos are added to the photo stream album on a device (either due to a new photo having been taken or having been synced from another device using the stream) they remain in the album. However, the syncing process involves copying the photos to the photo stream server where they are kept for a maximum of 30 days, up to 1000 photos. If a device is reset or the stream is turned off or turned back on again (or in your case, the device was repaired), the photos that were on the device's photo stream album are gone and the only ones to appear are those that are currently on the servers (recall the 30 day limit).
If some of your photos are older than 30 days, then they are no longer stored on the cloud and hence are not synced down to the iphone.
Recall, photo stream is just a syncing service, it is not designed as a storage service for photos. Always sync photos to a computer for archiving.
