In order to do this, you'll need to enable the Manually manage music and videos option from under your iPod's Summary tab. Keep in mind that manual management of your iPod's contents is an entirely different way of handling how content is copied to your iPod. However, I would urge you to invest in an external hard drive to store your iTunes library on instead. If something were to happen to your iPod, you'll lose everything that is stored there. External hard drives of large capacity can be found for pretty cheap these days.

i just came back from a family vacation and tried to sync my phone to my laptop. It didnt recognize my phone, and did i want to add device or restore to old device. i chose to restore and in doing so, i lost all the photos taken on our vacation. is there a way to retrieve photos? the completely disappeared from my iphone altogether. I've just set up my mac Mail to receive my hotmail. It's now trying to download the whole of my hotmail account of 20,000 emails! I only want it to show the latest 200 (like on iPhone and IPad) Is there anyway to control this?
On your iPad, just go to Settings>Mail, Contacts, etc.>Add account>iCloud and put in the details of the account you set up. Shouldn't be a problem at all.

I have a linksys WRT54G router that we use as a base. I want to use Airplay using Airport Express and hook up my stereo to it. How can i set up my Airport express without a PC/laptop? I just downloaded Airport utility on my iphone and ipad,will that work? And one more thing about the setup, the linksys router shich acts as a base is in a different room as the airport express which i wanted to use for airplay. So I'm hoping to hook up the Airport express via wireless signal. If i can set it up, can someone pls help me out by posting detailed instructions. Thanks so much!
The first message that AirPort Utility will display during the auto setup will be that the Express will be confgured to "extend" the network. When AirPort Utility analyzes the network further, and sees that the Express cannot "extend" the 3rd party network, the next message will indicate that the Express is being configured to "join" the wireless network.
Once the Express is configured, if you later go into AirPort Utility to check the settings under the Wireless tab, you will see that the Wireless Mode is indeed "Join a wireless network". -

My iPhone and iPad are on my moms icloud account and i just got a macbook air and i want all my devices on my own iCloud account - i went to all of my settings and it won't let me change my iCloud account on my phone and iPad. can i change this?
You will have to do more than simply changing settings in your moms account. To set up everything in your own account, go to Settings > iCloud > scroll down and press sign out. From this, check out this link for how to setup iCloud on all of your devices after making a new icloud account on your phone: https://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/
Before you set that up, you will have to make a new iCould account which you can simply do after you sign out of your mom's account on your devices.

Downloading previously purchsed music from iCloud is based on your iTunes ID, not your iCloud ID. (It uses "iTunes in the Cloud", which has nothing to do with your iCloud account, just your iTunes ID.)
If you are using a different iTunes ID on your iOS devices than the one you used to purchase the music, you'll have to sync the music to your devices using iTunes. If they are using the same iTunes ID, you can download the music to your devices as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519. -
My daughter and I have separate iCloud accounts set up on out desktop PCs and our iPhones and iPads. We want to share the usage of a Win 8 laptop and will log in using using separate user accounts. Is it possible to set up our own iCloud accounts in each of those separate user accounts?
No it is not possible. Content purchased from the iTunes Store is permanently tied to the account from which it was originally purchased, and Apple does not provide a way to change it.

Just update everything with new info/change password/ security questions.

Did it on icloud cause have duplicates on ipad and iphone alsoCheck icloud.com to be sure you contact list is correct there. If it is, just go to Settings>iCloud on your device and turn Contacts to On to sync the contacts to your device. If contacts are already set to On and you still see duplicates, you may be viewing a duplicate contact group in addition to the iCloud contacts. Open Contacts, tap Groups, then tap any groups other than iCloud to uncheck them, then tap Done. See if the duplicates are still there.

I want to upgrade iOS from 5 to 6, but when I go to synch everything in preparation, it tells me I will lose all my stuff on the iPhone and iPad which is/are unique. How can I backup or do a "real synch" (both sides have same data at end of process) and then upgrade?
You should really read the manual.

They would only be where you put them. What program did you use to import them? Pics/vids taken with ipod are not part of the sync process at all. You should be importing them just as you would with any digital camera.
If you did not import them, then they are not on your computer. -
