Handeling Null value using Essabse cube.

Hi Gurus,
I am new to OBIEE with Essabse cube. I have imported the cube and develop the report. I have flatened the measure. Everything is working fine. When i had a report request to have the Organisation and the Period Hierarchy along with the Measures.http://i41.tinypic.com/34s3pl2.png
As you see in the pic that the Quater and the Year total for UCR 60 Days are wrong. As there is no value for the month of March. I am not sure how i have to handel that. I am using the defult Agg External for those measures.
Please let me know where i am going wrong.
Thanks in advance.

  • SSRS Report date parameter values using SSAS Cube as datasource

    Hey Guys,
    i m building an SSRS report using SSAS cube as the data source. The report contains shared data-sets which provide the required data. below is the set up.
    Sql server version : Sql server 2008R2
    Report builder 3.0
    I have, Report A, powered by Dataset D, running on Cube C. The dataset has 3 parameters out of which one of them is a date parameter- P1. I have it set up such that on the report there is  another parameter - P2 which contains the type as Date ( to
    ensure the user is exposed to a date picker), the input from this, P2 is then manipulated to required format before fed into the dataset parameter P1 (hidden). I have two questions regarding this parameter.
    Currently, when the user pick's a date (P2) which has no values, the report errors out as it doesn't find that corresponding member on the cube. Can it be made such that if the member doesn't exists, a simple error message like "date not found"
    pops up as opposed to report failing?
    Secondly, can i manipulate the date picker (P2) exposed to the user such that the unavailable dates are grey'ed out on the date parameter (P2)?
    Please let me know if there is any more info required on each of the questions.
    Thanks

    Hello Katherine,
    below are the errors which pop up with the 'Constrained' function in place and without. The MDX query is what follows.
    Without:
    An Error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted). The Execution Failed for the shared data set “Dataset1”.(rsDataSetExecutionError). Query Execution failed for dataset ‘DataSet1’. (rsErrorExecutingCommand). The dimension ‘[10 Sep 2014]’
    was not found in the cube when the string, [10 Sep 2014], was parsed.
    With Constrained flag:
    An Error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted). The Execution Failed for the shared data set “Dataset1”.(rsDataSetExecutionError). Query Execution failed for dataset ‘DataSet1’. (rsErrorExecutingCommand). Query(1,1476) The restrictions
    imposed by the CONSTRAINED flag in the STRTOSET function were violated.

  • How to handel null values

    Hi all,
    I am new to JSF and I am facing a problem while validating a field the field is an accepts int value, so i am able to check if the value entered is an int or not and even it is greated than 0 or not, but when i try to check it with a blank value or null I am getting the following error --
    "Exception setting property sessionTimeout of base with class com.efunds.oe.fm.dto.ProfileCompositeDTO, Bean: com.efunds.oe.fm.dto.ProfileCompositeDTO, property: sessionTimeout, newValue: null ,newValue class: null method parameter class: int, nullException setting property sessionTimeout of base with class com.efunds.oe.fm.dto.ProfileCompositeDTO, Bean: com.efunds.oe.fm.dto.ProfileCompositeDTO, property: sessionTimeout, newValue: null ,newValue class: null method parameter class: int, null"

    Hi,
    I used the wrapper class Integer but still i am getting the same error but if I change the type from int to String I am not getting the error, but i need to have that value as int, for some reason.

  • Null value in a select-option

    Hi all,
    I have the follow question:
    can I populate a range vith a null value?
    I have a field in a standard table which can be "space" or "null". But if I insert:
    sign = I
    option = EQ
    low = space
    records with "null" field aren't extracted by the select statement. So is there any way to populate:
    low = null or something similar?
    Best Regards,
    Raffaele Frattini

    If the field is of type char then you need to wrte the same in quotes woth caps
    else
    declare
    constants : c_null type i value '0'.
    then assign the same
    You check the null value using INITIAL laso.

  • Wants to eliminate null values from mapping queue

    Hi All,
    How can I eliminate null values from 'display queue' of a target mapping.
    Can it be done through a UDF? Kindly help.
    Because of null value, it is creating issue in the mapping logic.
    Thanks,
    John

    We can remove null values using node functions.
    Check the below thread:
    Re: How to remove [] form Message Mapping Display Queue
    Or
    Try with the below UDF:
    for (int i=0; i<a.length;i++)
    if (! a<i>.equals(ResultList.SUPPRESS) || ! a<i>.equals(""))
    result.addValue(a<i>);
    Thanks,

  • Using null value of item

    Hi All,
    I use this part-of-code in pl/sql statement in a 'where' clause in order to filter records to those that took place between some hours range:
    ..... and to_char(STARTDATE,'HH24:MI:SS') between NVL(:P3_HOURS_FROM,'00:00:00') and NVL(:P3_HOURS_TO,'23:59:59')
    P3_HOURS_FROM & P3_HOURS_TO are combo box items with LOV (0:00,0:30,1:00 ....etc that returns 00:00:00,00:30:00,1:00:00 respectively). I use a null value which is displayed as '--:--'.
    when i choose some hour range the rsults are correct. the problem is when i choose null values. there is no results to the report, probably (i guess) because it somehow translate the (null) time value to the same value (and it's obvious that between same time values there isn't any result).
    so i guess i use 'null' value in an inappropriate way.
    Can u tell me what do i do wrong???

    Are you sure you are returning NULL and just displaying '--:--' in your LOV?
    If the state of your LOV is becoming '--:--' then this does not equal null in PL/SQL land.
    I presume you are also submitting after changing your LOVs?
    You can check the state of your items by clicking the session state in the developers toolbar at the bottom. See what your items are being set and report back!

  • Oracle 11.1.0.7.0 Issue with Streams when using NULL value in a key field

    Hi,
    we have an issue in our replicated environment using Streams.
    We have a replicated table using the following index:
    UK_S01_TEXT_FORMAT_TBL01 SOGID
    UK_S01_TEXT_FORMAT_TBL01 INDEX_TEXT_FORMAT_ID
    UK_S01_TEXT_FORMAT_TBL01 INDEX_LANGUAGE_LABEL

    UK_S01_TEXT_FORMAT_TBL01 INDEX_PROVIDER_ID
    UK_S01_TEXT_FORMAT_TBL01 INDEX_TARIFF_PLAN_COSP_ID
    with field INDEX_PROVIDER_ID allowing NULL values. Actually we insert empty strings in there, but as far as I understand Oracle will convert it sliently in a NULL value, which is fine to our application.
    When we apply a change on that table (either update or delete) we get errors at streams level and the transaction is not propagated.

    If I force the set of primary keys to be only the NOT NULL fields, I can successfully apply the error, but since we may have them storing both NULL and NOT NULL values, this is not a solution.
    I'm wondering why the DB on one hand converts the empty string in a NULL while inserting, but it looks the Apply process onStandby is not able to do the same when looking for the record before applying the transaction.
    Thanks in advance!

  • Null values returned when using request.getParameters(

    I have a html form which allows the user to choose options and select a file to upload. When I use method=Post I get null values returned. When I use method=Get I get my parameter values fine.. but I get an error.
    "Posted content type isn't multipart/form-data"
    I would like to know why I am getting null values returned when using Post. I am using the following to get the values from the name=value passed to the servlet.
    String strIndustry = request.getParameter("frmIndustry");
              String strCompany = request.getParameter("frmCompany");
              String strCollabType = request.getParameter("frmCollaboration");
    I have another form where the user can search information in a database that works just fine w/ either Get or Post
    Or perhaps I am using oreilly MultipartRequest incorrectly??? but I copied it directly from another discussion.. ???
    any thoughts
    Thanks

    taybon:
    you could do it like this. in this case, you submit your form with the parameters (industry, company, collaboration), and upload your file at the same time. and in the target servlet, you can build your MultipartRequest object like this:
    MultipartRequest multi = new MultipartRequest(request, temp_location, 50 * 1024);where variable temp_location stands for a temporatory diretory for file uploading.
    and then you get your parameters, so you can build the directory with them. and after that, you can move your file to that directory using File.renameTo();
    but as i've suggested in my previous posting, i just recommend you upload your file in a separate form. and then you can perform an oridianry doPost form submit with those parameters. or you may have problems with the file uploading. (this is just my personal experiences with Multipart).
    there is one other thing i'd like to mention, file.renameTo() won't work if you need to move files to a network drive in windows. it won't work if you move files across file systems in unix.

    I solved this.
    Since I was testing the action code only, I didn't define a navigation entry corresponding to the action string returned for this button:
    <h:commandButton value="Add" style="height:21px; width:51px;font-size:8pt; font-color: black;" action="#{resourceBean.addAction}">
    </h:commandButton>After I added a nav definition, it worked. I don't know why at this point. I suspect a key step in the lifecycle was pre-empted...someone else can probably explain why. If I get a chance to research it after I'm done with my project, I'll update this post.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    Did u selected the option filename from the Adapter message specific atribute of file adapter.
    When u  run the whole scneario that time this will work if u run the scneario using test message tab of message mapping it will give null value only.
    THe AMSA will work when u test it end to end.
    check it out.

  • What is the use of setting null values to Objects?

    What is the use of setting null values to Objects?
    regards,
    namanc

    It's more of a safety trap within java to handle the "programmers are still humans" exception.
    String myname;
    // print what???? Forgot to initialize the name!
    System.out.println(myname);Java will complain about myname not being initialized. It won't when you do this:
    String myname = null;
    // allright, your name is null
    System.out.println(myname);In the second case you are showing to java that you know what you are doing.

  • Using "Where" operator sometimes generates a Null Value

    Hello,
    I am struggling with the following problem:
    Sometimes when I use the "Where" operator, I get a Null value that I can't get rid of.  For example:
        [Fiscal Quarter] Where [Fiscal Quarter] = "2009 Q3"
        Returns:    "2009 Q3"  and [Null]
        Note:  The object [Fiscal Quarter] is a dimension.
    Conversely, when I use this formula:
        [Revenue] Where [Fiscal Quarter] = "2009 Q3"
        There is just one result, e.g., $100,000, as expected.
    Is there something I can add to the first formula so that I do not get the Null response?
    thanks so much,
    Helen Gonzalez

    Hello, Ekta!
    in response to your help:
    Q:  Is the query that is the value of the Fiscal Dimension dependent upon some other condition?
    A:  No, the dimension "[Fiscal Quarter]" is not dependent on anything else.
    Q:  Have you tried breaking the formula to smaller chunks?
    Have you tried using other Conditional Operator as "Nested IF".
    A:  No, I haven't tried that.  Any suggestions?  It sounds reasonable.
    Thanks,
    Helen

  • How to transfer database table contain null values, primary key, and foreign key to the another database in same server. using INSERT method.

    how to transfer database table contain null values, primary key, and foreign key to the another database in same server. using INSERT method.  thanks

    INSERT targetdb.dbo.tbl (col1, col2, col3, ...)
       SELECT col1, col2, col3, ...
       FROM   sourcedb.dbo.tbl
    Or what is your question really about? Since you talke about foreign keys etc, I suspect that you want to transfer the entire table definition, but you cannot do that with an INSERT statement.

  • To make a field null again using web services after inserting value.

    Hi All,
    I just wanted to ask you there is an Any Occ. Date which is a date field at a particular object.By default the value of this field is having null value.After filling the field if I further want to make it null value,it does not allow the field to make it blank once again by web services.
    Quick response will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    what i understood from you requirement is that, if tax_type is country, you want to skip state field and enter value for tax_rate. in case tax_type is state, you want to enter state also. so, as its a multi-record block, once you do set_item_property(enable/disable), it enables and disables state field for all the records.
    if i am correct, what you can do as workaround is use SET_ITEM_INSTANCE_PROPERTY rather than SET_ITEM_PROPERTY and set the INSERT_ALLOWED and UPDATE_ALLOWED properties to TRUE & FALSE, as you cannot set ENABLE property using that. though the field will be enabled, but user will not be able to key-in any value.
    hope it helps.

  • Using Convert to handle NULL values for empty Strings ""

    After having had the problem with null values not being returned as nulls and reading some suggestion solution I added a converter to my application.
      <converter>
        <converter-id>NullStringConverter</converter-id>
        <converter-for-class>java.lang.String</converter-for-class>
        <converter-class>com.j2anywhere.addressbookserver.web.NullStringConverter</converter-class>
      </converter>
    ...I then implemented it as follows:
      public String getAsString(FacesContext context, UIComponent component, Object object)
        System.out.println("Converting to String : "+object);
        if (object == null)
          System.out.println("READING null");
          return "NULL";
        else
          if (((String)object).equals(""))
            System.out.println("READING null (Second Check)");
            return null;
          else
            return object.toString();
      public Object getAsObject(FacesContext context, UIComponent component, String value)
        System.out.println("Converting to Object: "+value+"-"+value.trim().length());
        if (value.trim().length()==0 || value.equals("NULL"))
          System.out.println("WRITING null");
          return null;
        else
          return value.toUpperCase();
    ...I can see that it is converting my values, however the object to which the inputText fields are bound are still set to empty strings ""
    <h:inputText size="50" value="#{addressBookController.contactDetails.information}" converter="NullStringConverter"/>Also when reading the object values any nulls are already converted to empty strings before ariving at the converter. It seems that there is a default converter handling string values.
    How can I resolve this problem as set nulls when the input value is an empty string other then checking every string in my class individually. I would really hate to pollute my object model with empty string tests.
    Thanks in advance

    I changed my converter as suggested :
      public Object getAsObject(FacesContext context, UIComponent component, String value)
        if (value == null || value.trim().length() == 0)
          if (component instanceof EditableValueHolder)
            System.out.println("SUBMITTED VALUE SET TO NULL");
            ((EditableValueHolder) component).setSubmittedValue(null);
          else
            System.out.println("COMPONENT :"+component.getClass().getName());
          System.out.println("Converting to Object: " + value + "< to " + null);
          return null;
        System.out.println("Converting to Object: " + value + "< to " + value);
        return value;
      }which produces the following output :
    SUBMITTED VALUE SET TO NULL
    Converting to Object: < to null
    Info : The INFO line however comes from my controller object where I print out the set value :
    package com.simple;
    import java.util.ArrayList;
    import java.util.List;
    public class Controller
      private String information;
      /** Creates a new instance of Controller */
      public Controller()
        System.out.println("Createing Controller");
        information = "Constructed";
      public String process()
        System.out.println("Info : "+getInformation());
        return "processed";
      public String reset()
        setInformation("Re-Constructed");
        System.out.println("Info : "+getInformation());
        return "processed";
      public String setNull()
        setInformation(null);
        System.out.println("Info : "+getInformation());
        return "processed";
      public String getInformation()
        return information;
      public void setInformation(String information)
        this.information = information;
