Handleling SOAP requests in BPM

Hi,
I have a BPM process where I receive an idoc (ORDERS)  from R/3, call a webservice and the send an idoc (ALEAUD) back to R/3.
The scenario is working perfectly expect for the ALEAUD back to R/3 is missing all the mapped fields from the SOAP Response.
If I drop the SOAP response payload  to my  Message Mapping (SOAP.response to the ALEAUD) test tab, I can see that the top node is green but all the other fields are red.  It's funny because they are all are the right spot and I don't get (XML not well-formed) and my mapping is not working.
If I look at the payload, it looks like this:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes" ?><!-- Call Adapter --> <CreateOrderOut xmlns='http://www.inter-tel.com/sapintegration/WSLOrders/CreateOrder' xmlns:ns1='http://www.inter-tel.com/sapintegration/WSLOrders/CreateOrder' xmlns:env='http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/'>
<ReturnStatus>E</ReturnStatus>
<ReturnMessage/>
<OracleOrderNumber/>
<OracleOrderStatus/>
<IDocNum>0000000000377755</IDocNum>
<SapOrderNumber>0123456789</SapOrderNumber>
</CreateOrderOut>
If I generate a test instance using the XI test tool, the message look like this:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<ns0:CreateOrderOut xmlns:ns0="http://www.inter-tel.com/sapintegration/WSLOrders/CreateOrder">
   <ReturnStatus></ReturnStatus>
   <ReturnMessage/>
   <OracleOrderNumber/>
   <OracleOrderStatus/>
   <IDocNum/>
   <SapOrderNumber/>
</ns0:CreateOrderOut>
So what could be the problem?
I created the mapping using the SOAP external definition so why is it not coming back cleanly from the SAOP response?
Is it because of the SAOP envelope coming back?
Rgds,
Yves

Hi,
OK - remove this from the commuinication channel and re-activate.
I think you can use a simple XSLT mapping (as the first step of your mapping) to give you the message that you need as input into your graphical mapping.
Are you familiar with XSLT mapping ?
You need something like this:
<?xml version="1.0" ?>
<xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform">
<xsl:template match="/">
<ns0:CreateOrderOut xmlns:ns0="http://www.inter-tel.com/sapintegration/WSLOrders/CreateOrder>
<ReturnStatus>
<xsl:value-of select="//ReturnStatus" />
</ReturnStatus>
<ReturnMessage>
<xsl:value-of select="//ReturnMessage" />
</ReturnMessage>
<OracleOrderNumber>
<xsl:value-of select="//OracleOrderNumber" />
</OracleOrderNumber>
<OracleOrderStatus>
<xsl:value-of select="//OracleOrderStatus" />
</OracleOrderStatus>
<IDocNum>
<xsl:value-of select="//IDocNum" />
</IDocNum>
<SapOrderNumber>
<xsl:value-of select="//SapOrderNumber" />
</SapOrderNumber>
</ns0:CreateOrderOut>
</xsl:template>
</xsl:stylesheet>
This should work.
Make sure you add to the interface mapping - response when you have imported the relevant archive file.
Cheers
Colin.

    Hi there,

    -soap response (succ/fault) back to the client

  • Idoc to soap sync without bpm. is it possible? Helping me..

    Hi Experts,
    i have a small clarification Idoc to soap sync interface in sap pi 7.0. i created IDoc to Soap sync using BPM but some times the signals are stuck due to load issue in swpr, while reprocess those signals all going successfully to the receiver. So We are trying to eliminate BPM.
    I just wanted to know Idoc to Soap sync scenario without BPM is possible or not in SAP PI 7.0?
    if it is possible kindly send me the links
    Regards,
    Kiran polani

    Hi Kiran,
    Could you please let us know the exact requirement. How do you want to send the response back to IDOC?
    ASync - Sync Bridge with IDOC sender is not possible in PI 7.0.
    If It is something like IDOC --> SOAP --> IDOC , And If the SOAP request is small then you can use SOAP Lookup in IDOC to IDOC Scenario.
    In The mapping You can do a lookup and get the response from SOAP(Webservice) and map that to your Target IDOC.
    This is one possible way for you without BPM in PI7.0.
    Please let me know if you need more details about this.
    Thanks

  • Throw Soap Exception in BPM.

    Hi All,
    My scenario is Soap->XI->BPM->RFC. I get a soap request in synchronous way with Request and Response messages I Map my request to a RFC and If there's any application error or mapping error I have to send SOAP fault exception to my Soap Sending system. But I don't see any option in BPM to throw soap exception only thing I can do is to map my errors in the soap response and send it to soap sender.
    But my Soap sending system needs soap fault not a response message when any errors happen.
    Please let me know if anybody has this same situation and how to handle it.
    Thanks in Advance,
    SP.

    Hi VJ,
    I have to use BPM as I am doing other stuff in my BPM. In my BPM I am catching mapping exception and then I have to send this to Soap Sender in SOAP fault message and in abstract interfaces we don't have option to give fault message types. Also, I am using S/A bridge and I have to close the brige in order to send some response to Soap Sender.
    Is it possible to send soap fault when we close the S/A brige by send step.
    Thanks,
    SP.

  • Soap request- XI- RFC- RFC- soap response

    Hi,
    I want to implement a scenario like this.
    A third party system use the soap adapter to call the ECC RFC via XI.
    AND I want to write the RFC response into another RFC.
    After that i want to send back another Rfc response result to soap client (third party system).
    So the scenario looks like this
    soap request->XI->RFC->RFC->soap response
    I want to use BPM,but have not too much experience.appreciate your help.
    Regards

    Hi,
    You would need a Synch Asynch Bridge in this case.
    Steps in BPM.
    1. Receive --> Receives SOAP request message --> Select Opens Synch Asynch Bridge
    2. Transfrom --> Map SOAP request to RFC 1's request Message
    3. Send Synchronous --> Make the Synch Call to the RFC and get the Response back.
    4. Transform --> Map RFC 1's response  to RFC 2's Request
    5. Send Synchronous --> Make the Synch Call to RFC 2 and get the RFC response back
    6. Trasnsform -->Map RFC 2's response to SOAP response.
    7. Send --> Select Closes Synch Asycnh Bridge and Send SOAP response back.
    For synch asynch bridge , take a look at this too,

  • Sending the SOAP request back in the SOAP response

    Hi,
    I have a requirement in which I need to update a database from the information I receive in a SOAP request. Now my database will respond back with the number of records that are updated. Now I need to send back a SOAP response which should have the details that I received in the SOAP request.
    Can anyone help me on how to send the SOAP request details back in the SOAP response again? I don't want to use a BPM to do this. Also I know that I can use a select statement to get the records that are updated in my response mapping program. Any options other than these?
    - Ram

    Hi Stish,
      I do have exactly the same need, just with the difference that I'm sendind data from JDBC as sender and RFC as receiver, the RFC receive an ID fot example and return some data as a response and I want to update the DB with that response but I dont know how to merge the ID from the request and the data from the response in order to send it back and update the DB. I'm willing to do it with BPM but I don't know how to keep the request and the response and then merge them into the new message that will be sent to the JDBC, can you give me some specific steps?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Using a SOAP request to initiate an ESB flow

    I'm currently attempting to use the Oracle ESB as a pure routing engine for a project at work. Heres the basic way to works:
    1. We get a SOAP request from a third party
    2. We transform that request into a canonical format (via xslt)
    3. Inside that canonical format there will be an ID
    4. We look up that ID in a database and resolve an IP address from it
    5. We then use the canonical message to invoke a named web service on a SOAP server living at that IP
    So my questions are two fold really:
    Firstly, is it possible to fire off an ESB flow via a SOAP web service call? So far it seems (to me) that i can only initiate processes [flows - sorry im used to BPEL!] via an adapters (files, AQ, JMS, etc) and not from a raw SOAP request. It seems the SOAP object is an ESB object and not an incoming/outgoing adapter
    and
    Secondly, is it possible to make a database call/query and then use the result of that to intelligently route my canonical data to a specific SOAP server dynamically?
    I know i can do this in BPEL with little trouble but im trying see if its also plausible via ESB so i can leverage the performance and management benefits that come bundled with it.
    Any help would be great as i seem to be banging my head against a wall slightly!
    Thanks in advance,
    Ian Harrigan

    Thanks for the reply.
    Would it be possible to use an IP address (obtained from a database query) to dynamically call a web service of the same name but on different servers?
    Ie, if the incoming message has an ID attribute within it of, say, 10 then a request is made to server1, however if the ID is 11 then it goes to server2 and so on and so forth.
    I know this would be possible using a static filter but, unfortunately, that would mean that every time a new ID/Server combination is added to the database a new version of the ESB would have to be deployed which isn't feasible.
    Essentially i would need a single ESB and simply update the database with additional data and logic inside the ESB would send SOAP requests to a entirely new IP address
    Thanks again,
    Ian

    the used variable 'SOAPREQUESTMESSAGE' is being created in a procedure using jython.
    1. Can we use this variable (SOAPREQUESTMESSAGE) value in the next step that is while invoking web service request (can it persist) ?
    2. If not then how can we use this variable value to invoke ws request in next step ?
    Would like to appreciate help.
    Pls reply.

  • Sending SOAP request from XI and writing a scheduler for this

    Dear XI Experts,
    My scenario is as follows.
    We have two landscapes
    1)     XI, R/3
    2)     Client System(Remote, Other than SAP)
    Now we have to pull the data from client system using WSDL (There will be one method for pulling the data in the WSDL file). The WSDL is provided by the client. We are importing that WSDL as external definition in Integration Repository and implementing the scenario “SOAP to XI to RFC” and configuring it Integration Directory.
    Remember the client will not send the data to XI. Only we have to pull the data as mentioned above.
    Problems:-
    (i)     How to send SOAP request to the client using XI only?
    (ii)     How to write a scheduler for this?
    please help us.
    Thanks...
    Praveen Gujjeti

    Ur Suggestion
    "My proposition looks like that. in R/3 you have scheduled RFC call in some program. This RFC calls XI and XI is calling using SOAP adapter your client. Then response go back to your RFC and you can handle this data."
    As you mentioned, I am not scheduling any RFC call in R/3. If you go through my first query u can find two points where I am having some doubts......
    How to send SOAP request to the client using XI only? Is it possible to send a SOAP request from XI?
    If so,
    (ii) How to write a scheduler for this? So that it will invoke the webservice and get the data from client application(system)

  • Reg: Sending a Soap Request

    Hi,
    I am doing a Soap to RFC Scenario. I created a webservice in WebDynPro using NWDS and deployed that in local machine. I would like to send a soap request. How can I send it, if I have only NWDS??

    Hi,
    >>> I created a webservice in WebDynPro using NWDS and deployed that in local machine
    There are 2 ways while dealing with a webservice (same with any other adapters)
    a. Webservice at the sender side.
    b. Calling (invoking) the serivce of an existing webservice.
    If you want to create a scenario as in option <b>a</b>
    In this case, the sender is not actually a webservice, rather it is a client (webservice client) that invokes the webservice. The actual webservice in this case is your XI server. But again XI server is not a webservice. All XI does is understands the webservice client request and converts it to a XI message and does the operation.
    If you wish to do such a scenario, there are guides available in SDN, (How to expose your outbund interface as webservice, How to Soap Adapters). Follow them.
    Best Regards,
    Jai Shankar
