HandlerChain in Weblogic 10.3, ClassNotFoundEx

Hi,
I am trying to deploy in Weblogic 10.3 a web service (JAXWS) that contains a @HandlerChain but the deployment fails with an exception stating that the handler class that I specify in the XML file is not found (ClassNotFoundEx). I tried various solutions: packaging jars in my warfile (my guideline was http://dev2dev.bea.com/lpt/a/596, I used all jars in jaxws.classpath); i I tried also to add all these jars in the WLS classpath but I got other weird results.
A second question is how to use the modules located in the modules/ folder. There are various versions of glassfish for instance and I don't know which version is used by the runtime. Is there any way to install/uninstall them?
Any idea is appreciated. Thanks.

As per usual we found the answer not long after posting here. ClassNotFoundException is kind of a red herring. It is not an accurate representation of the error that occurs. The reality is that our constructor made a call that threw an exception but that exception didn't bubble up to the weblogic log, instead giving ClassNotFoundException.

  • How to change url of wsdl in weblogic 10.3

    Hello all. Now our team migrate big server application from JBoss to Weblogic 10.3.
    We have a lot of pure EJB3 web services (I mean web services implemented as Stateless beans)
    in EJB module (I.e. our services located in jar, not in war).
    We have no configuration files which described our services.
    For example we have service:
    @Stateless
    @WebService(endpointInterface = "com.softcomputer.totalqc.remotefacade.rich.browser.IBrowserWebService")
    @HandlerChain(file = "com/softcomputer/tqc/services/handler/authentifier-hc.xml")
    @CustomResolver
    public class BrowserWebServiceImpl implements IBrowserWebService
    // some methods
    By default JBoss map wsdl of this service to
    http://localhost:8080/TotalQCJPAApp-TQCServices/BrowserWebServiceImpl?wsdl
    where TotalQCJPAApp - is the name of ear file, TQCServices - name of jar file.
    but Weblogic map this service to another url:
    http://localhost:7001/BrowserWebServiceImpl/BrowserWebServiceImplService?WSDL
    And the question is: does have weblogic some config where we can simply define
    another url? For example we already migrated our project to OC4J and OC4J has such
    configs orion-web.xml and sun-jaxws.xml.
    I already spend near 5 hours to google some solution - but without result!
    It's very strange if weblogic do not have such simple feature..

    1) @WLHttpTransport
    We build our project using maven and do not want to have dependencies from code on weblogic specific libs.
    2) weblogic-webservices.xml
    When I create such decriptor weblogic start to ask that service defined in weblogic-webservices.xml should be also defined in webservices.xml, and webservices.xml have many obligatory fields, for example <port-component-name>, <wsdl-port>, <service-endpoint-interface>, <service-impl-bean> etc.. We don't want to redefine all this stuff! Only URL!!
    3) WebLogic Server - Web Services - I will try..

  • Looking for a client side JAXP-RPC HandlerChain example

    I would like to add a handler to the client side of a RPC call using 7.0.1. I
    can’t find any examples to follow for this logic in WebLogic or at Sun’s site.
    Does anyone know of some sample code I can browse to?
    I believe I want to add some files as attachments to a RPC call. To add them
    to the message, it looks like I should add them as an attachment in the handler.
    I see how this is done in the handler. However, I can’t find any useful documentation
    on setting the HandlerChain. I attempted this by following the Javadocs (HandlerRegistry,
    QName, HandlerInfo), but I must have left something out.
    Any suggestions for examples to follow?
    Thanks,
    Dave

    An example attached:

  • SOAP HandlerChain class not invoked

    I've seen lots of posts about getting a HandlerChain class invoked, but I can't seem to find the magic cure.
    I have an EJB web service with the HandlerChain annotation and a SOAP handler and a handler-chain.xml file. But the handler does not get invoked.  I was wondering if anyone HAS been able to get one to work using the HanderChain annotation for a weblogic deployment within an EJB annotated as a web service.
    EJB code:
    package foo.bar;
    import ...
    @WebService(portName = "RunWebServiceSOAP", serviceName = "RunWebService", targetNamespace = "http://foo.bar/RunWebService/", wsdlLocation = "RunWebService.wsdl", endpointInterface = "foo.bar.RunWebService")
    @SchemaValidation
    @BindingType(SOAPBinding.SOAP12HTTP_BINDING)
    @Stateless
    @Local(RunWebService.class)
    @TransactionAttribute(TransactionAttributeType.REQUIRED)
    @HandlerChain(file="handler-chain.xml") <<<--------------------HANDLER CHAIN ANNOTATION
    //@HandlerChain(file="../..handler-chain.xml") <<<-- ALTERNATE ATTEMPT
    public class RunWebServiceImpl implements RunWebService {
    Handler code:
    package boo.flork;
    public  class LowLevelSoapMsgPrinterHandler implements SOAPHandler<SOAPMessageContext> {
      @Override
      public boolean handleMessage(SOAPMessageContext smc) {
    Handler.xml file:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <handler-chains xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee">
      <handler-chain>
        <handler>
          <handler-class>boo.flork.LowLevelSoapMsgPrinterHandler</handler-class>
        </handler>
      </handler-chain>
    </handler-chains>
    Deployment locations of the handler xml file:
    1) my_app.ear/my_ejb.ejb/handler-chain.xml
    2) my_app.ear/my_ejb.ejb/handler-chain.xml
    3) my_app.ear/my_ejb.ejb/foo/bar/handler-chain.xml
    Kind of stumped here, anyone have any success with weblogic and a HandlerChain?

    Hello Chintan,
    I can't find any way to prevent the JSR168/286 portlet container from handling the exceptions during render. There is an option (specified in WEB-INF/weblogic-portlet.xml) which allows you to specify a particular JSP that gets called when an exception is caught during render, but any exceptions thrown by the JSP will also be handled and converted into "normal markup" rather than a WSRP SOAP fault. This would mean any JAX RPC handler (or consumer-side interceptor) wouldn't see an explicit fault message.
    So the answer to both questions 1 and 3 is that because the container is sending the error message embedded in markup, rather than a fault message, there is no way for the RPC handler or the interceptor to capture the exception as a fault. If you want, you can contact Oracle support and refer to issue 9645339. As a workaround, you could make the RPC / interceptor look at the markup for an embedded error message or special tag, rather than a fault message. If you took advantage of the error-handling JSP configurable in weblogic-portlet.xml you could even have the JSP include specific markers that the RPC handler / interceptor can look for. To configure the error JSP in the weblogic-portlet.xml file, you will need to add a section for each portlet along the lines of this:

  • Server status constantly = republish when using @HandlerChain annotation

    I'm just learning web services and have developed a very simple 'HelloWorld' type web service to play with. The service works fine with the test client that comes with Workshop.
    The actual service I develop in the future will have to make use of a SOAP Message handler chain, so I've been following the directions in [this document|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12840_01/wls/docs103/webserv_adv/handlers.html] When I add the @HandlerChain annotation to the JWS file and save, the WebLogic server status changes to "republish," as expected. However, when I publish the server, the status remains "republish." Stopping/starting and restarting the server does not change this behavior. If I remove the annotation from the JWS file and publish the server, the status will change to "synchronized."
    Has anyone who has worked with Handler Chains in web services using Workshop seen this behavior, or can you recommend a solution?

    Answering my own question...
    I eventually found the error log view and it told me what the problem was (an error in the XML file defining my handler chain).

  • WebLogic Handler Problem - Handler handleMessage is not getting invoked!

    Hi, I am using weblogic 11g and trying to register a handler to log my requests/responses to and from the service. I use Maven to build the project and register the handler as described in the Oracle documents. Here is the handler declaration in the server class that implements the port interface
    @HandlerChain(file="handlers.xml")Here is the declaration of the handler class in the handlers.xml
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <handler-chains xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee">
      <handler-chain>
        <handler>
          <handler-class>com.mycompany.service.handlers.LogHandler</handler-class>
        </handler>
      </handler-chain>
    </handler-chains>handlers.xml has been put in a folder structure under resources so that when the war file is generated, it is placed in the same folder as the server class. LogHandler implements SOAPHandler<SOAPMessageContext>
    When I deploy the application, the handler gets invoked and the getHeaders method gets called multiple times. But when I call the service with any operation, the handleMessage method is not invoked and the service acts like it doesn't have any handler. Please note that there are other projects that exist in my workspace and use handlers with the same configuration without any issues. As the handler is required for this project and I am running out of options to fix this matter, I appreciate your feedback. Thanks in advance!

    Your web.xml file need a servlet-mapping section:<web-app>
    <servlet>
    <!-- Servlet alias -->
    <servlet-name>Registration</servlet-name>
    <!-- Fully qualified Servlet class -->
    <servlet-class>GreetingServlet</servlet-class>
    </servlet>
        <servlet-mapping>
            <servlet-name>GreetingServlet</servlet-name>
            <url-pattern>/servlet/GreetingServlet</url-pattern>
        </servlet-mapping>
    </web-app>Also, you probably need to put your servlet in a package.

  • Deployment delay of JEE5 application on weblogic 10

    Hi,
    I have a jee5 application that works fine with glassfish v2 or JBoss 5.
    It's an application with stateless ejb (ejb3) exposed as webservices (jaxws).
    I manage to deploy my ear on weblogic 10 but it takes about 15 minutes to deploy whereas on JBoss or Glassfish, it's around 2 minutes.
    The structure of my ear :
    myappli.ear
    |-lib
    |-webservices.jar
      |- META-INF
        |- weblogic-ejb-jar.xml
      |- net.myappli.... (source code)Here's what I have in the admin server log file during deployment :
    <BEA-010087> <The EJB deployment named: webservices.jar is being recompiled within the WebLogic Server. Please consult the server logs if there are any errors. It is also possible to run weblogic.appc as a stand-alone tool to generate the required classes. The generated source files will be placed in D:\bea-domain\jee5_domain\servers\AdminServer\cache\EJBCompilerCache\4okqjo7r4ir6.>One of my ejb based web service :
    @Stateless()
    @Resource(name = "jdbc/applids", mappedName = "applids", type = DataSource.class)
    @WebService(endpointInterface = "net.aze.appli.jws.alarm.PTAlarm")
    @HandlerChain(file = "../../../handler/alarmHandlerChain.xml")
    @RolesAllowed({"anonym", "systemUser"})
    public class AlarmBean implements PTAlarm {
        @Resource
        private SessionContext sessionContext;
        public AlarmCreateOut persist(AlarmCreateIn in) {
            return AlarmDelegate.getInstance(sessionContext).persist(in);
    }I tried to run appc, but it does not change anything.
    Any ideas on why weblogic takes so many time to recompile ejbs and how to make it faster?

    Hi,
    The recompilation of EJB may be triggered by a lot of reasons. But appc should help on reduce of recompilation when deployment. If appc didn't help, that would be a bug.
    Could you please send me your application? Is it a very large file?

  • HandlerChain annotation name attribute deprecated.

    Hi All,
    I am using @HandlerChain(file="HandlerConfig.xml") annotation to configure a SOAPMessageHandler in my Impl file. This annotation contains a deprecated "name" attribute. When I am not specifying "name" attribute in the annotation, JWSC task is throwing "Null Pointer Exception" while creating the war of the service. This is probably because the HandlerConfig.xml contains handler-chain-name element and the annotation doesn't contain "name" attribute. When I am specifying name attribute in the annotation everything is fine. Please help me in resolving the problem without "name" attribute.
    This is the code I am having:
    SubmitApplicationServiceImpl.java:
    package com.project.webservices.submitappservice;
    import javax.jws.WebService;
    import weblogic.jws.WLHttpTransport;
    import javax.jws.HandlerChain;
    **@HandlerChain(file = “SubmitAppHandlerChain.xml”)**
    @WebService(serviceName = "SubmitApplicationService", targetNamespace = "http://project.com/ SubmitApplicationService", endpointInterface = "com.project.webservices.submitappservice.SubmitApplicationServiceSoap")
    @WLHttpTransport(contextPath = "SubmitApplicationService", serviceUri = "SubmitApplicationService", portName = "SubmitApplicationServiceSoapSoapPort")
    public class SubmitApplicationServiceSoapImpl implements
              SubmitApplicationServiceSoap {
         public SubmitApplicationRes submitApplication(
                   SubmitApplicationReq submitApplicationRq) {
    // Our business logic here.
              return submitApplicationRes;
    This is my handler configuration file in the same package:
    SubmitAppHandlerChain.xml:
    <?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?>
    <jwshc:handler-config xmlns:jwshc="http://www.bea.com/xml/ns/jws"
    xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee" >
    <jwshc:handler-chain>
    <jwshc:handler-chain-name>HandlerChain</jwshc:handler-chain-name>
    <jwshc:handler>
    <handler-name>AppServiceHandler</handler-name>
    <handler-class>com.project.webservices.submitappservice.AppServiceHandler</handler-class>
    </jwshc:handler>
    </jwshc:handler-chain>
    </jwshc:handler-config>
    This is the build target that creates war of the service:
    <taskdef name="jwsc"
              classname="weblogic.wsee.tools.anttasks.JwscTask"
              classpathref="compile.classpath" />
    <target name="create-appservice-war>
    <jwsc srcdir="${basedir}/project/src" destdir="${basedir}/projectEAR/build">
                   <jws file="com/project/webservices/submitappservice/SubmitApplicationServiceSoapImpl.java"/>
                   <classpath refid="jwsant.classpath" />
              </jwsc>
    </target>
    Thanks,
    Satya

    The default value of the name() attribute for field-based Java EE environment annotations is
    <fully-qualified-name-of-declaring-class>/<field-name>. It's a bit ugly, but at least it's guaranteed
    to be unique :-)

    Hello Muffy,
    It looks like you do not have WLS 5.1 service pack 6 installed correctly. I
    say this because I do not see the sp6 message at the top of your log and I saw
    this message in your log:
    org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: Element "weblogic-enterprise-bean" allows no
    further input; "transaction-isolation" is not allowed

  • Installation problem on Weblogic 10.3.2

    I'm trying to install BI on Weblogic 10.3.2 under Linux. I followed the instructions in the installtion guide and edited the xmlp-server-config.xml file to change the file path to /home/repository/XMLP
    under /home/repository/XMLP I have Admin, DemoFiles, Reports and Tools that I copied from my windows stand-alone application.
    When I start BI I get a oracle.apps.xdo.servlet.resources.ResourceNotFoundException: ${oracle.home}/xdo/repository/Admin/Scheduler/quartz-config.properties
    any idea?

    I had same issue with Oracle Weblogic 11g R1 (10.3.3). The problem was with the contents of the XMLP folder (not the path as the error message would suggest). The XMLP folder I was referencing in xmlp-server-config.xml was the one generated by the OBIEE installer and also configured by me using OC4J (to make sure I had a known good configuration before trying a deploy to WLS). For example, i had configured the JDBC connections and Installed the publisher scheduler tables. The fix was to use the default out of the box XMLP folder from the install media. Now the application starts without a hitch. \biee_windows_x86_101341\Windows\Server_Ancillary\Oracle_Business_Intelligence_Publisher\

  • Issue with JPDs in my weblogic application

    I have a weblogic integration application running on WL 8.1 SP5. There are 2 JPDs and 2 web services in the application. I am having an issue in the live server when the application has been running for quite a while. One of the JPDs stops working. The issue is resolved by redeploying the application. On redeploying from the weblogic console, the code starts to run again!!! Has any one come across such an issue? Is this something to do with server settings? I would welcome any suggestions to solve this recurring issue.

    Hi Darshan,
    Thanks for your answer.
    I change my package to do an another test.
    My XML :
    <dataTemplate name="XXAPINMOXML" description="SUIVI DES INTERETS MORATOIRES" defaultPackage="XXAPINMO_PKG">
    <dataQuery>
    <parameters>
    <parameter name="p_type_edition"/>
    </parameters>
    <PROPERTIES>
    <property name="include_parameters" value="true"/>
    </PROPERTIES>
    My package :
    CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE XXAPINMO_PKG AS
    p_type_edition varchar2(150);
    FUNCTION beforeReport return boolean;
    END XXAPINMO_PKG;
    show errors package XXAPINMO_PKG;
    CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE BODY XXAPINMO_PKG
    AS
    FUNCTION beforeReport return boolean is
    BEGIN
    fnd_file.put_line(FND_FILE.LOG,'p_type_edition ' || p_type_edition);
    IF p_type_edition = 'Y' THEN
         fnd_file.put_line(FND_FILE.LOG,'Case Y');
    ELSE
         fnd_file.put_line(FND_FILE.LOG,'Case N');
    END IF;
    return true;
    END beforeReport;
    END XXAPINMO_PKG;
    show errors package body XXAPINMO_PKG;
    Then I launch my concurrent program with 'Y' in parameter and I see the log of my concurrent program :
    XDO Data Engine Version No: 5.6.3
    Resp: 51213
    Org ID : 45
    Request ID: 2468909
    All Parameters: p_type_edition=Y
    Data Template Code: XXAPINMOXML
    Data Template Application Short Name: XXAP
    Debug Flag: N
    {p_type_edition=Y}
    Calling XDO Data Engine...
    Début des messages de journalisation à partir du fichier FND_FILE.
    p_type_edition
    Case N
    Fin des messages de journalisation à partir du fichier FND_FILE.
    But normally it should be 'Case Y' which would be written ...
    And when I see the XML via Diagnostic I don't see the parameter however I add <property ...>
    I really don't understand ...
    Maybe do you have an another idea ?

  • Problem with links in deployed ADF application to Weblogic Server 11g

    Hi everyone !
    I have a query here, firstly, I have created an ADF application using Jdeveloper 11g and have successfully deployed (EAR file) onto the weblogic server.
    However, after testing out the application, the linking within the application does not seem to work. Whenever I click on a link or button, the page refreshes but the result is not displayed.
    What could have cause the problem?
    Thanks
    Gavin

    Are the ADF runtime libraries installed into the WebLogic server?
