Handling Adapter Errors
I have a BPM that receives Soap messages sends a synchronous response then sends them to an R3 system. Inside the BPM, around the send step I have a block with an Exception handler to catch any errors that are generated by the call so that I can retry sending the message.
However, when an error occurs, eg the R3 system is taken down for maintenance, I get an XI error which does not get thrown back to the BPM exception handler.
Has anyone else got this to work or have any suggestions?
Thanks
Ian
Hi Ian,
You can set the Integration Server to automatically retry any deliver any messages failed due to a comms issue. In the Integration Server administration SXMB_ADM, run the option for Integration Engine configuration.
In here, click on <b>Specific Configuration</b>. Add an entry for category TUNING parameter IS_RETRY_LIMIT with a value of say 25.
This will force the Integration Engine to attempt 25 retries for delivery.
This retry interval is 2 minutes and is not changeable.
The message will be displayed in SXMB_MONI with a different icon instead of a red flag.
Does this help at all ?
Cheers
Colin.

[Create Login] Provisioning Error: event handler/adapter could not be found
Hello,
I am running a fresh install of OIM 9.0.3 (installed yesterday) on a Windows XP Machine running:
Weblogic 813 SP6
JDK142 11,
MSSQL 2000 SP3a I have a test resource, a simple MSSQL Table with a few fields, which I used the connector pack to install and connect. I imported the resource without any issues. However, when I attempt to Create Login on the resource, it gives me the following error:
"An error occurred while retrying one of the tasks
Create Login: Event Handler not found"When I check the details of Create Login (in my To-Do List for xelsysadm):
Error Details
The class file for event handler/adapter "adpDBCREATELOGIN" could not be found.I am very new to this system, and I really don't know where to begin trouble shooting this issue. Any ideas on what might be wrong with the system? It could be anywhere from missing a step in the beginning of the installation to doing something incorrectly. Any pointers on where I can start troubleshooting as to why I can't provision would be very helpful and much appreciated!
ThanksDid you compile the adapters? When you import them from XML they must be compiled before you can use them. Go to the Design Console -> Dev tools -> Adapter Manager and compile them there.

Handling JDBC adapter errors in BPM
Hi,
I am using BPM to insert data in SQL server using a snychronous send.However i am not able to trap the adapter errors like server is down or could not insert because of key violation.
Hence i decided to use transport level ack. But i understand that error description is returned in fault messages. Can i use fault messages in BPM???
And also if that is not possible, I would like to know how can i configure alerts in JDBC adapter.
Thanks in advance.Anand,
I dont think this is possible. Fault Messages should be sent by the Application System back to XI , the Database in our case. AFAIK< the database cannot send back such fault messages and the error message is trapped in the JDBC adapters log. Try using Adapter Engine Alerts and this will cause the Message to be passed to your ALert framework from the adapter.

Does anyone have any ideas what else I can check. I'm a Unix person, not a Windows person, which is making it even more complicated. If I was on Unix, I'd just blow everything away and start again from scratch, but since I'm not sure how to remove all traces from the registry, etc., I don't want to try that on this machine. There was already one other database created, but it's not goign to be used.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
regards,
Tarisa.hi,
thanks for the info. the problem, as it turns out, was that I was connected to the db server via a terminal service (Microsoft Management Console), which for some reason caused probelms with TNS. After I connected directly to the machine using VNC, I was able to create the database with no problems. strange but true.

How to handle system errors in XI using BPM? please help!
Hi Experts,
I have a requirement where I have to handle system errors. For example when I am making RFC call using RFC adapter if the remote destination is down then I have create a understandable error message and store it in another SAP table.
How to handle it? I am using BPM. I can see that there is "Exceptions" in the send step. How to use this?
Thanks
GopalHi Gopalkrishna,
In this case whenever you get Mapping Exception , you can raise an Exception with the help of BPM and you can send the status to the RFC. But with the help of BPM.
For a Simple case refer:
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/33/4a773f12f14a18e10000000a114084/frameset.htm
If you want you can do it without a BPM
and throw an exception in case any of the values is missing:
have a look at this weblog on how to throw exceptions
in a nice way:
/people/alessandro.guarneri/blog/2006/01/26/throwing-smart-exceptions-in-xi-graphical-mapping
Also just go through <a href="/people/sap.user72/blog/2005/02/23/raising-exceptions-in-sap-xi-mapping Exceptions in SAP XI Mapping</a> and see if it helps you solve the problem.

Sending Email When FTP Adapter Errors Out
Hello everyone,
I am developing a very simple interface to grab a file from a directory and ftp it to a partner's server. Now I want to be able to check if an error occurs when I send the file so I can send a notification e-mail to the administrator and move the file to an Error-Archive directory.
Some of the errors that could happen are:
1. Partner server is down
2. FTP Username or password is wrong
3. FTP account does not have permissions to write to the Partner server
4. ...etc
I have defined an Integration process and for the block where I ftp my file, I defined an exception which I catch in an exception branch. In the Exception branch, I have then defined steps to send notification emails and move the file to an error-archive directory. But unfortunately all the steps of the Integration Process seems to pass, although the FTP Adapter throughs an error.
I'm not sure how can I get the FTP adapter errors to be passed back to my integration process. I already searched in the service market place for OSS notes and also searched the SDN but I can't find any helpful information.
There is one OSS note, 821267, that mentions the use of System Acknowledgements. I'm not sure if this will help me and I don't know how to set it up.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to handle this particular scenario? Did anyone implement System Acknowledgements with the File/FTP adapter?
Any help is greatly appreciatedHi,
To do the alert configuration as suggested, please go through the information below.
From SP 14 on PMI-free alerting was introduced. That means before SP 14 one has to configure and activate the End-to-End Monitoring, and to schedule the report SXMSALERT_PROCESS_DATA_GET in order to extract the alerts from the PMI data. For SP 14 and higher, that's not longer necessary.
If no alerts are being delivered, please check if "Suppress multiple alerts of this rule" is checked for your rule.
For SP 14 and higher you could also have a look at the report sxmsalert_logreader. This report shows some information about alerts being created or not.
You'll find more information about trouble shooting the alerting in SAP Note 913858.
Also just check if this batch program (RSALERTPROC) is running or not.
The links below on Alert Management (ALM) will be of good help to you:
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/3f/567ddea69d3d4c93a6aedabd08899e/frameset.htm
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/3f/81023cfa699508e10000000a11402f/frameset.htm
Meanwhile look at these forum threads also:
Alerts not getting triggered from Adapter Framework
Alert Configs...
Also, In ALRTCATDEF, go to SETTINGS--> CONFIGURATION. By default, the option selected is INTERNAL PROCESSING. Select the option SMTP FORWARDING AS XML and give the email id. This will enable you to send an email alert whenever an error occurs in XI.
I hope I have answered your queries. If u want help with anything else please do reply back.

TNS-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error TNS-00530: Protocol adapter error
Unable to start listener service.
Running Oracle Database 11gr2 on Windows 7.
I just installed Oracle with the "install software only" option.
Already set up the instance, the database, the dictionary views, etc.
Created tsnames.ora, sqlnet.ora and listener.ora as shown below.
Before installing Oracle I followed the instruction on Oracle
documentation to install a Loopback Adapter.
It is set up as the primary adapter as indicated on the
instructions. The name is "gabylan" (previously the computer
name was "P4". I set up the "hosts" file as indicated, the oracle_hostname
variable, etc. as you will see below. I don't know if it's important to "uncomment"
the line on the "hosts" file for the "localhost" entry, I left it
as it was originally.

Hi Oracle Guru's,
Please save my life from this typical yet known problem.
I got an old backup on my tapes about 3 years older. I have windows server 2k where I have an access remotely through RDP(Citrix-CuraStore).
I installed oracle8i 32 bit on Windows 2k though it got stuck at the end where it installs optional tools(like Net8i assistant), so i closed the installation session, Because I could see Net8i assistant,dbca etc was installed on machine.
I checked my services, found it had started the Listerner8i service.
To create a database, I tried to happen it through DBCA...but unfortunately it gave error(ORA-12560 "TNS protocol adapter error"), I ignored it ...but it didnt move to next step...completely stuck up..So closed the session.
I tried with ORADIM to create service, It did happen, services for database was created, I setup the environment(SID,HOME,PATH) etc.
When I login with sqlplus , it gives again the same error(ORA-12560 "TNS protocol adapter error"), I tried many things like TCP/IP traffing disabling etc..Nothing worked.
Can some one please help me and give me some out of box solution..I shall be really really thankful to them.
Regards,Sorry, If I missed to update you back..I apologize.
Two services(Database Service : OracleServicetest and OracleOraHome81TNSListenerLISTENER_TEST both are up...checked from SERVICES.MSC
listener is up, I can ping the Hostname perfectly.

If you have backup and you dropped database then you can create it again.
1) Create directories for background,user,audit dumpdest and control,online log,datafiles.
2) Create OracleServiceComp if that is not exists using ORADIM utility(oradim -new -sid COMP -intpwd <syspass> -pfile <pfile location>)
3) After starting oracle service
set ORACLE_SID=COMP
rman target /
/*if you do not have spfile also then you have to restore it from
full/auto backup or startup database using pfile(create it manually)*/
startup nomount ;
restore controlfile from 'full or autobackup location';
alter database mount;
catalog start with 'backup location';
restore database;
recover database;
alter database open resetlogs;
