Handling Dynamic Filter Values in Web Template.

Hi friends,
I have a Authorization Hierachy Node Variable on 0COMPANY and this is placed in Free Characteristics in BEx Query.
Now i want to catch the value of this Company in Web Template either using Text Element web Item or etc. and then pass this value to the Print Layout of the same report.
Could some body help me on this.

Passing Dynamic Filter values to Web template in VC

Hi Experts,
Iam working with a Web Template (which is created using WAD) in Visual Composer Model
I have an input screen ( Variables Form )in VC Iview which has Fiscal Year, Quarter, week and other input fields which need to be entered by a user.
This variables are passed to a couple of queires. Also i have a requirement to pass the same vvariable values to Web template also ( WAD)
I have created a HTML iview in VC Dashboard.and in URL i gave the below URL which is working fine

Restrict values on web template input variable

Hi WAD and Bex Experts,
I'm trying to reduce the numbers of valid values when I press the match code in the input variable in a web template.
In the same time I would like to increase the maximum numbers of valid values
Any ideas how to do it ? I checked on Bex and WAD but I can't figure out how to do it.
I'm on a Bw 3.5 version.

Issue with filtering values in Web Template

I am facing a problem with filtering values in Web Template.
I have two queries based on two different data providers. One query is getting data from an Info set and the other from a Remote Cube. I have a single navigational block to filter values for both these queries but the change gets reflected only on the variable of one query. The other reflects no change and shows all the values irrespective of the filter condition.
I have tried the option of setting in the properties of the navigational block, affected data providers as both your data providers.But no effect.
Can a single navigational block be used to filter values on 2 queries which are built on different data providers? If yes, can someone please tell me how it is possible?
Kindly let me know how can I make the changes appear in both the queries?I am using SAP BI 3.5.

How to retrieve dynamic filter value submitted from control query to .....

How to retrieve dynamic filter value submitted from control query to broadcast query.....
I'm trying to change the hierarchy version determined by a userexit variable in the broadcast query.
The Hierarchy Version should be dependent on the input filter delivered by the bursting query.
But how do I catch the dynamic filter value which has been submitted by the bursting query,
with other words: where does the bursting query store it's out put while sequentially starting the broadcast query value by value?
BTW: the filter value from the bursting query appears under "dynamic filter values" in the information of the broadcast query...
Any thoughts are welcome!

Further information,
Report is used via webi only, not Xcelsius or Dashboard.
Report is consuming BI Web Services.
Although we can pass in prompt values to BI Services, I couldn't find if we could pass a variable or dimension object into this field. Anyone knows?

Dynamic "Filter" value in APD

Hi People,
I have a question about APD. Is there any way to inform dynamic filter value to APD? Like OLAP variable in infopackage selection?
For example, I have an transactional ODS receiving data from an APD and it has a "Filter" due to restrict the volume of data. In that "Filter" there are many selections with fixed values for each one (e.g. 0CALMONTH). I'd like to know if is possible to replace "fixes" value for dynamic values (e.g. ABAP routine). Or even, another way to pass values to the "filter" parameters when running it by program RSAN_PROCESS_EXECUTE .
I appreciate any kind of help.

Well, variables are not possible in analysis processes. I know that some customers are using ABAP routines for a dynamic filtering. Some prepare the filter criteria in another program, and the results are then processed in an ABAP routine within the analysis process. Of course, those results need to be stored in between.
Variables like "previous period" are sometimes evaluated directly in the analysis process, but this also means to code it in an ABAP routine.
Hence, I do not know a simple solution. RSAN_PROCESS_EXECUTE does not have any further control parameters which could be used for this.

Hi Adarsha.
You can add the standard web item called "Text Elements". When you have added it just insert the dataprovider you want the filter values displayed for.

Variable filter selection in Web Template

Hello we have 0VENDOR as BEx setting for Query Def. Filter Value Selection as 'D only values in InfoProvider', i've a mandator variable on 0Vendor for a query and when i run in Bex it works fine like the selection of variable brings up only the values in the InfoProvider.
I've the same query attached to a Webtemplate, and when i run the Web Template and in Value selection of the Variable brings up all the values from Master Data instead of the Infoprovider.
Any idea how to make it work in Web. btw we're in BI 7.

I don't think you can on the variables screen, however if it was feasible you could use a drop down box and have it look at posted values only. However this will only be available after the initial view of the query comes up.

Default variable values in Web Template

While using the above variable my expectation is it shall display variable screen and for plant (0s_plant) variable it shall show default value as 6011 while other variable shall remain blank.
But while executing it is not showing plant default value in variable screen. Any suggestions.

Hi Vikas,
While defining the Query, you can define the default value for the variable. And this Query can be assigned to the Analysis Item in the Web Template. If the "Display Variable" option is set to "On", then, whenever the Template is executed, the default value set in the Variable will be visible.

Retain variable values across web templates during a web session

Hi all,
How can we let web template get variable values from another template's variable values so as to keep the same entry values as previous report run?
For example 0vendor has a variable (for single, mandory) used in all vendor related web templates. "vendor1" was entered for the second template.
I tried to use "SET/GET PARAMETER" in variable user exit. It works in BI with RSRT, but it doesn't work with Bex or Web template. Looks like web session is not sync with the ABAP stack.
How about using cookie? How to create/reset cookie in variable user exit? Can we get variable values from web server memory or user session data?
Please share your thought !

Hi Arun,
All the web templates are randomly run by user, there are no set of templates run after one template. Any templates can run after any other web template.
Basically we link web templates with portal menu items. any report can be run by any sequence. The thing the new report need to take the previous selection values from common variables.

BEx Web Application Designer - Info Field - Display Static Filter Values

I'm not sure if anyone is having the same issue I am having... but here goes.
I have the option DISPLAY STATIS FILTER VALUES turned on in my 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN & 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN_EXPORT web print templates for printing to PDFs from the Query Designer.
- If I have it turned on, all the filters (including the dynamic) are displayed with about 4 rows of empty space between each line.
- If I have it turned off, the dynamic filters are displayed normally.
Does anyone know how to affect the font and spacing of this setting?
Note: As it is the the standard print template, I can't add the perameters of which filter to display.
Please let me know if you have any ideas.

Help to your answer I could understand my mistake. I was customizing the Data Binding part instead of the Internal Display.
I did the following :
[ ]Display Static Filter Values
[ ]Display Genertal Text Elements
[ ]Display Dynamic Filter Values
[x]Display Variables
[ ] Only Variable with values
And it is working now.
FYI: no need to uninstall and reinstall the Bex tools, it worked directly with the latest patch.

Reading Dynamic Table Values in interactive form (web Dynpro ABAP)

I have created a Web Dynpro ABAP application which contains an Interactive Form, That Adobe Interactive Form contains Dynamic table (New rows can be added manually and deleted using a button).
I am not able to read the Dynamic table values in Web Dynpro u201COn Submitu201D.
In the Adobe form I have web Dynpro native button (I am using ZCI), while clicking the native button I need to read the dynamic table values.
How can I resolve this problem.

that means, when u add the table instance at runtime, you will also have to add an element to the node that is bound to the table.
probably addNew() mathos may be useful to you.
it appends a new record to the record set.

also when on the exit event of the table field, do the following:

Hi all,
as i described in some postings before the problem with local HTML-to-PDF Conversion utilities is that each BW USer must have a license for this lib. Also you have no Designtime integration, this means if you want to define headers and footers, Pagebreaks or report books all these solutions will not work.
There is also another problem with these tools, f.e. you have Comboboxes or an navigation block included in your template, and you convert the executed template with ABC PDF to PDF you will have also the navigation block items with all the drilldown images printed on the pdf. The printing paper of Tobias Kaufmann(a old cooleague and friend of mine) has also a problem with charts and custom text in the template.
Also there is no automation support for these solutions this means broadcasting of PDF'S is not supported.
Our solution provides such features, but it is not finally released, but we are short before release 1.0.
For interested people, which have special requests in the functionality can sent me an mail, where they can describe their needs. Deepu had seen some features in the past our solution.

Authorization checks for filter values

Hi,
I'd need to apply authorization checks to filter values in web reporting. The authorizations should be limited with an attribute of the characteristic, not the characteristic itself.
A practical example:
There are two companies A and B. The companies are not allowed to see any data from each other.
There is a report that displays sales orders. It is used by both companies. The selection of sales orders is limited with the characteristic 'distribution channel', so the initial display is fine.
customer sales order
cust1          so1
cust1          so2
cust2          so3
cust2          so4
Users should be able to filter the sales orders by customer. As filter values, the users should only be able to see and select customers from their own company.
Access to customers should be limited with an attribute of the customer, e.g. company code, because it would be impossible to maintain authorization profiles that contain lists of customers.
However, it seems that BEx and web reports don't care about the authorization restrictions applied to the company code. When a user from company A clicks on the characteristic 'customer' and selects filter values (e.g. with F4), he can choose from all customers.
So, how could we apply authorization checks to filter values?

Continuing with the customer & sales order example, the report could look something like this:
customer comp. sal.ord.

when a user from company A runs it.
What happens if there is a filter for the characteristic Customer, and the user changes the filter values? What values are displayed as possible filter values? Do you mean that BW limits the values of 'customer' based on authorizations to the attribute 'company'?

Show Multiple Filter Values in a Web Template

I have a Web Template based on a query. On this Web Template I can set multiple single filter values for one characteristic.
Now I want to show these filtered values for this characteristic on the web item. This is possible for ONE filter value when you use the XML path (f.e. DATA_PROVIDER:DP1?/BICS_VIEW/SELECTION_STATE/SELECTION/CHARACTERISTICS/CHARACTERISTIC[@name='CHARNAME']/SELECTIONS/SELECTION[1]/MEMBER/@text)
Is there a possibility to show MULTIPLE filter values for one characteristics in a text or input field? I don't want to use a drop down box or the info field.

HI,
the best ay to do is create a query with same variable parameters as of the main query and place filter Characters on rows.
Use this query in one analysis item and use it on top row of the template as Filters information.This will give better look and feel as well solve your requirement
