Handling process in a remote system

how to list processes,
start processes,
and kill processes in a remote system from a server. and how to get configuration information of a remote system.
Return information regarding: logical memory configuration, physical and logical disk and partition configuration including free-space, processor information, network adapter configuration and information, page file configuration and information, OS information.

Write a program that collects the information and sends it to another system. How to get the data: consult your operating system's programming manuals. How to send data through sockets: google for java socket tutorial.
Much of the information you list can be accessed only using non-portable operating system and CPU dependent means. If you write the program in Java you may need to call C, C++, and assembly language code through JNI to gather some of the information. Unless your operating system offers a Java API for that information; most OSs only offer C or C++ APIs.

  • Error while processing message to remote system

    Hi,
I am trying to load the data from flat file to R/3. I am using the file adapter to pick the file and RFC adapter to transfer into R/3. I am getting the success status in the sxmb_moni and adapter framework(green for both the adapters). But when i check the status in the RWB message monitoring, I am getting the error.
I am using the message interface defined in the software component for R/3 system which has a different namespace. When i am trying to upload data, i am getting the error as namespace missing in RWB. The detailed error in RWB is as follows:
Exception caught by adapter framework: error while processing message to remote system:com.sap.aii.af.rfc.core.client.RfcClientException: could not get functionname from XML requst: com.sap.aii.af.rfc.RfcAdapterException: failed to read funtionname from XML document: missing namespace declara

    Hi,
    >>><i>So i tried creating a RFC(using sm59)in the R/3,
When i try to import the RFC i have created, I am not able to see the one i have created.</i>
In your R/3 system, go to se38, enter your RFC name. Go to attributes tab, and click on the radio button named "remote enabled"
This will enable your RFC to be called by an application outside the R/3 system.
    >>><i>Can you please let me know as to what is it that it is connecting to the R/3(destination) and why am i not able to find my RFC.</i>
You are tyring to log on to your R/3 system, from xi, in order to import the RFC that you have created. Hence you are asked for user id and password.
You are not able to find your RFC since it has not been remotely enabled or has not been activated.
    Regards,
    Smitha.

  • Backupeventlog not working for remote system in PowerShell

I have the following code snippet that works if I specify localhost or the name of the local computer, but does not work if set to a remote server. I am running the script as Administrator using my Domain Admin account. Both local and remote systems
are Windows Server 2012 and in the same domain. PowerShell version = 3.0.
    Param(
    [parameter(Mandatory=$true,ValueFromPipeline=$true)]
    [ValidateScript({Test-Connection $_ })]
    [String]
    $Server,
    [parameter(Mandatory=$true,ValueFromPipeline=$true)]
    [String]
    $LogFileName,
    [parameter(Mandatory=$true,ValueFromPipeline=$true)]
    [ValidateScript({Test-Path $_ -PathType 'Container'})]
    [String]
    $OutputFolder
    $EventLog = Get-WmiObject win32_nteventlogfile -ComputerName $Server -Filter "LogFileName = '$LogFileName'" -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue -ErrorVariable $ResultError
    If ($ResultError)
Write-Host "ERROR: unable to event logs from $Server."
    } Else {
    Write-Host "Backing $Server."
    $EventLog.backupeventlog("$OutputFolder\$Server.evtx")

After spending some more time troubleshooting this and doing some more research I found the link below. I found it strange the hoops the author went through to handle event logs on remote systems until I realized that the path for "backupeventlog"
is relative to the remote system, not the system running the script. So I checked the other systems and found that the event log backups had been created. This would explain the returnvalue of 80. What's worse is that the path for "backupeventlog"
    can't be a UNC -- I tried, it didn't work.
Back Up Your Event Logs with a Windows PowerShell Script
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-ca/magazine/2009.07.heyscriptingguy.aspx
I decided to re-read Microsoft's documentation and found the magical text that I had over-looked:
BackupEventlog method of the Win32_NTEventlogFile class
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa384808(v=vs.85).aspx
In addition, you must make backups to the local computer; you cannot save a backup of the event logs on Computer A to Computer B. Backups are implemented by using the LocalSystem account, which does not have the network credentials necessary to access remote
computers. If you want to save backups to a central repository, modify the script to first perform the backup, and then move the backup file to the central repository.

  • Trigger process on remote system?

    Dear experts,
I have a requirement when sending files to a remote system of a client. Instead of placing the files
on an FTP server where the client system picks them up our XI/PI system should trigger a process
(e.g. an import SQL script) on the remote system!
Can I do something like that with PI 7.0? I browsed the board here but could not find any thread
    concerning that topic.
Thank you for any input on this!
    Best regards,
    Peter

  • RFC login and user creation to remote system

    Hi there,
Hopefully this is the related forum for this question. We have a scenario where we need an automated process to create users on one system and then create just the same account on a remote system with deactivated password.
How is this best handled in ABAP code where the system account info/password  of the remote system is not listed in the abap code. Should a SM59 connection be created and then somehow this is referenced from abap code ?
Also, this will be a SM37 job stream running on the local server under one name running the job and in the code it should be using a different name (destination) for the remote connection to create the user.
I am a security person, not abaper. Input /best practice appreciated.
    Thanks !

    > I am a security person, not abaper. Input /best practice appreciated.
Actually this is a security question, so I have moved it to the security forum...
If the password is to be deactivated in the target system but not in the source ("master" system) then you can use several standard user provisioning mechanisms for this (CUA, GRC-CUP, IdM, UME configuration...) and configure the target system to deactivate the password itself. There are also several ways of achieving this, without any coding required necessarily.
The most obvious one which jumps to mind is RZ11 parameter login/password_change_for_SSO.
Alternately if your scenario is better suited to it, you can also use login/password_max_idle_initial.
    Also see transaction RSUSR200.
    Etc...
    > Should a SM59 connection be created and then somehow this is referenced from abap code ?
No. It should be referenced from configuration of the application which calls the RFC connection, defined in SM59. You can also optionally use the "current user" setting and alternate authentication methods to (saved) passwords. This I would generally recommend.
    Cheers,
    Julius

  • "Program terminated in remote system NONE: Logon failed" when adding a new table

    Hello,
I set up a replication flow from a SAP ERP 6.0 EHP7 with SAP ASE 16.0 source to SAP HANA 1.0 rev 82 target
I am using a standalone SLT system NetWeaver 7.0 with DMIS 2011_1_731 (with SP 1 to 7).
I have 100 tables to replicate.
I succeeded to set up replication for 57 tables. These tables are replicating properly.
Whenever I try to add a new one (with LTRC transaction, Data Provisioning -> Start Replication), the new table is marked as 'Failed' after a little while.
When I press 'Show Error Log' button I got an obscure error message:
"Program terminated in remote system NONE: Logon failed "
I do not understand this message. I checked both on SAP ASE source and SAP HANA target. I am still able to connect against both source and target.
Can you please tell how to troubleshoot this error.
    Thanks in advance,
    Christian

First thank you for answering my questions. I really appreciate your answers.
    I rechecked the documentation.
"Application Operations Guide SAP Landscape Transformation Replication Server Document Version: 2.3 – 2014-07-08"
    Page 29 - 30
    3.5.2.2 Data Transfer Jobs
This section explains the relationship between the number of data transfer jobs and the number of available background work process.
Data transfer and data transformation processing on SLT server system is accomplished by the background work processes of the underlying SAP NetWeaver ABAP application server. Each job occupies 1 background work process in the SAP LT Replication Server system. For each configuration, the parameter Data Transfer Jobs restricts the maximum number of data load job for each mass transfer ID (MT_ID). In total, a mass transfer ID (MT_ID) requires at least 4 background jobs to be available:
 One monitoring job (master job)
     One master controller job
 At least one data load job
 One additional job either for the migration objects definition, access plan calculation or to change configuration settings in the Configuration & Monitoring Dashboard
    Example
If you set the parameter Data Transfer Jobs to 04 in a configuration “SCHEMA1”, a mass transfer ID 001 is assigned. As a result, the following jobs should be in the system:
    1 Master controller job: /1LT/IUC_REP_CNTR_001
     At most 4 parallel jobs for MT_ID 001: /1LT/IUC_LOAD_MT_001_001/~002/~003/~004
When configuring your data load or replication scenario, consider the following:
 Do not define more data transfer jobs than the number of available application server background work processes. If all available background work processes are already occupied by jobs, any other job will have to wait until a free work process becomes available. This can lead to long wait times until a new activity (for example creating triggers) can start, and can also result in significantly increased latency times for data replication.
 The number of dialog work processes in the source system corresponds 1:1 with the number of data transfer jobs in the SAP LT Replication Server system.
 Besides the work processes allocated by the data transfer jobs you need to provide additional available work processes for controller and monitoring jobs, the migration objects definition, access plan calculation or to perform configuration changes, and so on.
Sizing for SAP LT Replication Server involves determining how many work processes are required to perform the initial load of data into the target system within an acceptable timeframe, and accomplish the change capturing and the transfer of data changes to the target system within expected latency times.
Ensure that you add enough additional work processes to allow other required SAP LT Replication Server jobs to run.
Finally, you map the number of required application server work processes to their system resource consumption (CPU, memory, disc space) using the formulas provided by the SLT Sizing Guide.
With the simple formula below, you can calculate the number of required application server work processes (WPs) on the SLT Server for each active SLT configuration.
The number of required work processes can be determined by adding
 The Number of required data transfer jobs ,
 plus one background work process for Central Master (Monitoring) Job (only one per system!),
 plus one background work process for Master Controller Job,
 plus 3-5 additional empty background work processes (recommended per configuration),
 plus approx. 3 dialog work processes (recommended for each configuration).
Note: A lack of available free application server work processes can negatively affect the data load or data replication processes.
To summarize everything, the number of 'Data Transfer Jobs' must be set depending of the number of source tables, it is not the actual number of tables.
Assume that for my 100 tables I use 10 'Data Transfer Jobs' :
    - The number of work processes on the SLT server would be 20. I took the simple formula of the documentation:
    10 data transfer jobs ,
+ 1 background work process for Central Master (Monitoring) Job (only one per system!),
+ 1 background work process for Master Controller Job,
+ 5 additional empty background work processes (recommended per configuration),
+ 3 dialog work processes (recommended for each configuration).
    - The number of dialog processes on the source server would be 10 ( equal to the number of 'Data Transfer Jobs')
    Am I correct ?
    Regards,
    Christian

  • Beginner Question - How to hide the parameters of a created process on a remote machine.

OK so I am useng the following Powershell command invoke-WmiMethod -class Win32_process -name Create -Argumentlist ($some_command_with_parameters) -Authentication 6 -ComputerName $Your_Computer -Credential $cred
The question comes when I pass the command with parameters in the command is encrypted until it gets to the destination but then it appears to be very easy to view the command parameters by using a PROCESS Get command while that command is being run.
Is there a way to hide the parameters on the remote system to prevent someone from viewing those at the time I run my script.  The problem is that I would like to pass a username and password as a parameter but would like to make sure it is fairly secure.

Yeah I was trying to execute a cmd.exe /c ...  This works great except the for mentioned issue.  Essentially what I was trying is to create a backward mapped drive.  In order to transfer a log that is created from the command I am running,
back to my machine.  I know the process I am doing could potentially be done different but in the enviroment I am in it is very restricted so I am basically working with what I have here.  Is there any way to at least make sure that no one other
than the person who created the process can see its arguments?  Interactive prompts or using files won't work as I am doing this remotely and essentially issuing one long command that will do everything I want. A file might work but I don't have a secure
way to transfer a file as this has to be a process I can do on multiple servers and many of them do not have anything setup for doing that.  The other issue is the credentials would still be unsecure on the server as long as the file was there.
I think my best bet would be if possible to restrict others from viewing a process and arguments that I create.  Any ideas?

  • How to create a jar file which is in the remote system?

    Hi,
I have a set of files that resides in a remote system, which have to be "jar"red. I have a firewall in between. I want to create a jar file out of the files situated in the remote system. How do i go about this process.?

    Hi,
You can't do that in a simple way. You need to have a port open in the firewall, and you need to have a server process on the remote machine.

  • Assign records to different remote systems in MDM

    Hello Experts,
I am using qualified range to generate internal number range for vendor. The remote key & remote system details for the records are generated during syndication. My scenario is that I have couple of records in MDM for different remote systems. I want to syndicate it to the respective systems. Is there a way to identify the respective records per system with out inserting the details in "edit key mapping".
If we try specifying Remote system details in edit key mappings with a blank or specific Key value , then the qulaified number generated for vendors is overwritten with this key value mentioned in key mapping.
I need to retain both the qualified range functionality as well as tag the records to different remote systems.
    Kindly advice.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Elizabeth.

    Hi Shiv
So, i am not sure, but this all makes me feel that syndication tasks can not be executed parallel.
Your understanding here is correct since we are using here the same table for syndication process so it will be executed in steps. I mean syndication 2 has to wait until the syndication 1 ends. But the thing is that even after syndication 1 completes syndication 2 is not going to place that's the issue here.
Please find solution which tells same thing in MDM import manager context.
Can I run two Import Managers at the same time?
Yes, several instances of the Import Manager can be open concurrently. The only existing limitation though is when actual importing process starts the tables involved in the importing process are locked for write access. So if two instances of the Import Manager import to different tables then no synchronization issue occurs. If they use the same table, then the instance getting access second has to wait until the first ends.

@ Elizabeth: After Syndication 1, Have you checked after sometime whether syndication2 & so-on takes place or not. I feel that Syndication for syndication 2 , syndication 3 & syndication 4 should also occur after some time as they executed one by one not parallel so will take some time. Just check and revert with result whether your workflow gets completed after some time or not.
Note: Make sure that for all these Syndications outbound ports Processing Type = Manual in Console else syndication will not occur.

  • Can you clone Remote System key mappings?

We have 2 Remote Systems set up for our MDM repository with key mappings for 60 tables. I now need to add an additional Remote System which is similar to one of the existing ones, but with a few different values. Is there any way I can clone the existing one or do I have to go through all 60 tables one by one, export the info, edit it to show the new Remote System name and re-import it? I have searched the sources but can't find anything on this precise topic.
Thanks for any help you can give.
    Peter Croft

    Peter,
    No you cannot.
Prepare a source having Just two columns ex., new Remote Keys of the system and an common identifier field in the table which you are planning to import with the data. Import it and get it to the data manager as records with just two fields(Remote Key and Common identifier). If you have the import maps already stored for the tables when you have done for the previous imports for the other two remote systems, use them and  automate the importing process for this particular remote system (via port configuration in console and Data manager) for the remaining fields of the table.

  • Display files/directories of a remote system (RIO) on a host machine (PC)

    Hello,
Please assume that we are discussing software built on the standard "Labview FPGA Control on Compact RIO" sample project. The host is a standard PC running LV14 Fall edition, the remote system is an sbRIO-9636 having an SD card and a USB HDD attached. The objective is process control. The process being controlled is not relevant to the question.
This question is about implementing the following functionality: the user operates a host machine running a Labview user interface vi (UI Main.vi) locally on the host machine. Part of this vi must offer the user a built in dialogue (some express vi or another) or custom dialogue (a bespoke vi displayed on demand). The dialogue must display the directories and files of the remote system which runs RT Main.vi and it must allow the user to select a single XML file on the remote system (which contains some generic configuration information). The name of the file will then be passed to the remote system and the remote system will act to open it and populate some configuration variables.
I am sure that a widely used solution exists for this problem but I've not found the right words to type into my favourite search engine yet to produce the result. I propose the following:
    1) User clicks a "select config file" button on UI Main.vi
    2) The UI Main.vi event loop enqueues a message on the UI Main message queue based on the value change event caused by the button press
    3) The UI Main.vi message loop enqueues a separate message on to the "UI Command Stream" network stream
    4) The RT Main.vi, RT Loop - UI Commands.vi subvi receives the message from the stream and enqueues it on the RT Main.vi message queue
    5) The RT Main.vi message loop performs some functions to read the disk structures, directories and file names from the RT system
    6) The file and directory name data in (5) is converted to a variant and is passed along with a suitable message into the RT Writer network stream
    7) The UI Main.vi periodically reads the RT Writer network stream (it's in the "monitoring loop") and enqueues the received message (from 6) into the UI message queue
    8) The UI Main message queue populated the UI Main front panel with the data
    9) The user selects the directory and file they desire and clicks an "ok" button
    10) The ok button click causes the event loop of UI main to enqueue a message in UI Main.vi's message queue due to the value change on the ok button
    11) The UI Message loop enqueues a message on to the "UI Command Stream" network stream with the selected fully qualified file name of the selected file as the data (stored as variant)
    12) The RT Main.vi, RT Loop - UI Commands.vi subvi receives the message from the stream and enqueues it on the RT Main.vi message queue
    13) The RT Main.vi message loop opens the XML file and populated the appropriate variables with the configuration options therein.
The user should be able to cancel the dialogue and avoid using a configuration file but I have not delt with that here.
    Now for the questions:
    1) Is this a logical approach?
    2) Are there any suggestions for a better way?
    3) Any links to some pre-written code that will allow me to impliment all or part of this with minimum effort (I'm thinking here of the dialogue box bit rather than the network streams and events bit as those structures are extant and have lots of bespoke code already in them)?
    Thanks,
    James

    Hi Bob,
Thanks for your input. You're right I have used network streams.
I implimented more or less what I said in my original post. It works. My main objective was to keep all the config stuff, and data for the particular target on the target's SDCard. On reflection that did make my life much harder than keeping stuff on the host.
It is more (quite a lot more) involved to keep the config files on the target and send directory info etc. back to the host on demand. If I was to do this again I would probably keep the config files on the host machine and keep them in Dropbox or a Google drive so that if I had more than one host to work from (Work PC, Home PC and Laptop...) I would have all my files with little effort. Still I didn't konw that when I started.
    Thanks,
    James

  • Instrument readings in Veristand with a remote system

I am new to National Instruments hardware and Veristand and I'm trying to use an instrument with Veristand to see if I can get readings from that instrument. I am using a PC with Windows Vista and I'm connected through a network to a PXI 8108 controller in a PXI 1050 chasiss. The instrument is just a thermocouple which I am using to get familiar with everything. The thermocouple is connected to the SCB-68 connector block which is connected to a PXI 6221 multifunction DAQ in the chassis. I am able to create a task in MAX under remote system and everything seems to work. What I want to do is to get the readings into Veristand, and I'm not sure if I need to create a custom device that is linked to the DAQ somehow or if there's some other way to do this. I've created the DAQ device in the system explorer but I don't see any way of linking it to the actual DAQ device on the remote system. I'm wondering if someone can help with this.
    Any advice is appreciated.
    Thanks
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

You can read your thermocouple channel value directly from VeriStand, but the process is different than using MAX.
In System Explorer, add your DAQ device that is cabled to your SCB-68. Make sure you specify the same name (i.e. "Dev1") that is in MAX. Also make sure you've imported the device channel that is hooked up to the thermocouple (i.e. "ai0"). There's no way in System Explorer to specify that this channel should have thermocouple scaling. VeriStand will initially sample this channel value as a raw voltage value. You can, however, set the high and low limit for this channel to something small like +/- 1V, since thermocouples have very small readings.
You add the scale to your system separately after deploying the System Definition you created to the RT Target. You do this by connecting to the target using the Workspace and selecting the Workspace tool from the Tools menu called the Channel Scaling and Calibration Manager.
In this dialog you will see your DAQ channel listed. Navigate through this dialog to assign an appropriate thermocouple scale to your channel. Once this is done, the target will remember the scale for this channel until you overwrite it.
Let me know how this goes...
