Have dual monitors when I open firefox it open on monitor 2, when I open a pop up it opens in monitor 1. I want it to open on monitor 2

I am trying to work out of 2 programs using one monitor on one and Firefox on the other. When I open link to in Firefox it opens in monitor 1 which I want it to open in monitor 2. Is there a setting I can change to make this happen.

I want FF4 to always open on Monitor 1. If you click on a link that "opens in a new window", it opens on Monitor 2 and from then on all FF4 windows open on Monitor 2.
Firefox 3.6x did not have this problem.
The suggestion from silkphoenix works once, until you click on a link that opens a new window, then FF always opens on Monitor 2... the wrong monitor.
I don't and won't use tabs.

I wanted to use two monitors. One to monitor my file while the other as my working window. I am using Imac Intel Duo Core 17" and I heard that I need to buy the adapter. You can change this in the System Preferences>Display, but a second monitor should default to a dual monitor arrangement. You just have to drag the windows you want onto the second monitor.

iTunes now gives you the option to install previous purchases on your devices. Sign in to your iTunes account on your computer and go to the iTunes store. Once there, click on the purchased link on the right side of the store screen. It will take you to a screen that shows all of your previous iTunes purchases. Music, TV shows, Movies... Download whatever you want on your new computer. If that isn't an option you want to try then plug you iPhone into your computer and open iTunes. When your phone shows up in iTunes, click on it. At the bottom of the screen you should be able to select the option to manually transfer music. Then select the music you want from your phone and copy it over to your computer. At this point if you aren't logged in to your iTunes account you will be asked to sign in to play the songs. Hope this helps.

Dual Monitors in CS5 still a problem?

Hi, I have dual monitors using mostly photoshop. In CS3, when I opened a document, I was able to have it open automatically in the right monitor, which was great. In CS4, adobe did away with that for no reason that I can think of as it is the biggest pain to have to tab out to get to my image (I know I sound like a whiny baby, but it does get annoying after hours, days, months, then years of doing that.) I figured they would fix that with cs5 after all it was in cs3. What the dilly-yo? Is it just a button I haven't found. And as far as switching up the monitors, I have a righty desk, widescreen monitor and tablet on the right, set up to work righty, so I'm kind of S.O.L in that dept. It was in cs3......

Oh sorry, 64-bit cs5, radeon 5 series, win 7. As far as settings which ones, in cs5 or comp. In cs3, it was automatic, 4 and 5 I couldn't find an option for the image to open in a different monitor anywhere.

Dual Monitors - is there any way to...

I have dual monitors (about to get a 3rd actually as it is so much more productive). Is there a way to set up Eclipse/NitroX so that on one monitor I have the main Exlipse window with AppXplorer and the Design/Source window - and just that.
Then have a second window that has the variables, Tag Libraries, Properties, Outline, & Problems/Tasks/Console? I tried Window, New Window but while it brought up a window with some of the sub-windows in it - they are not tied to where I am in the main edit window.

ps - yes I can undock each window and move them to the other monitor. But if they are all tield in a parent window they don't overlap and I can minimize all of them with one click.

The views such as Tag Libraries, Variables, Property Sheet, etc are modular and can be dragged outside of the main workspace window but they are still tied to the parent window. When the parent window is minimized the associated views will be minimized.
Eclipse includes an option to open a new perspective in a new window. This could be useful if you would like separate windows for the Web perspective and Debug perspective. To enable this feature, go to Window menu | Preferences and then toggle the option under Workbench | Perspectives.

Captivate and Dual Monitor Setups

I am running a dual monitor setup and it seems captivate does
not play too well in this environment. When i record a project, i
select the window that i want to record which is our software
product that is open in full screen. Resolution on the monitor is
1024x768. Id i click the button for Snap to fit, it does not snap
around the program, it captures some of the second monitor and the
Recording size shows 1032x746. I am unable to record a project in
1024x768. Anyone else have this issue??

I have dual monitors and capture on it frequently. I'm not
sure I've had
the problem you describe, but I almost always just set the
size manually
(which maybe I do because I had problems with the auto
settings).
So I select Custom Size the resize the red border to my
monitor settings...

Dual monitor sleep problem

I have dual monitors and with 10.5.1 my second monitor will not open after it has gone to sleep. I have to shut down and start over. A simple restart will not bring it back up. I have never had this problem before. Any help??

Welcome to the Apple Forums.
In System Preferences (found under the Apple Menu in the menu bar), look at the Display pane to see if both screens are recognized by the system. Click on the Detect Displays button. This will force the system to connect to the monitor and will show you if there is an OS problem, or perhaps a hardware problem.
I keep the "Show displays in the menu bar" checked so that I can access it through the Display image in the Menu Bar at the top of the screen.
My experience is that different monitors have different capabilities of connection to the computer- some have to be "detected" every time; some connect, but have to be changed from a mirror to a span or repositioned in the arrangement pane; some just "work right"

Problem on dual monitor system

I have dual monitors and put Eclipse on the right monitor full screen. When I move the mouse over a variable, the pop-up is displayed in the left monitor.

I've a similar problem. But actually my problem is very common; I've seen a lot of programs showing this.
My monitors are arranged as [2][1]. That means the primary monitor is on the right while the secondary is on the left. But most programs suppose that we have [1][2]. This is a very very bad assumption.
So when the application window is placed on the secondary monitor, ie on the left, popup, tooltips or other things would appear on the right ([1]) !
Nitrox is, unfortunately, one of these applications.

Lightroom 4.4 dual monitor support

Is there any possibility of looking closely at the way dual monitors are supported in LR4.4?
Having just upgraded, it is worse than LR3.6 which wasn't totally ideal anyway. The issues are:
LR forgets that you have dual monitors when you close it and you have to set it up again when it restarts.
LR will switch which monitor has the grid or loupe view not quite at random but annoyingly frequently as a result of taking an action. Importing does it amongst others.
I have one good monitor and another which is not quite as good. Clearly I want to be able to edit the photos and look at photos in the better monitor. It would be helpful you could select which monitor you want to use for Loupe and the program respects this choice until you actually choose otherwise. I find that I am having to think of ways to do things so that it doesn't switch me; ie I am fighting the program instead of it helping me by being intuitive.

Interesting. It probably shouldn't make any difference but do you use MAC, I am using a Windows 7 PC.
I have looked closely at the preferences and menu options but cannot see anything user configurable which allows me to control this. The 2nd monitor menu seems to allow you to lock it on Loupe but that isn't what I want as the second monitor is the smaller not so good one. This option isn't available for the 1st monitor.
Strangely, this morning it is restarting with the second monitor in use. Does it relate to conditions when LR4.4 was closed down?

Weird dual monitor problem with changing image colors

I have dual monitors, same brand and type, same color settings and adjustments, and so far image was the same on both of them. Nothing regarding monitors or color preferences I have changed, but suddenly I started having this weird problem. Example:
1. Here is the screenshot. I have pure red image, palettes and layers panel are on the second monitor.
2. I start dragging image window to the other monitor and STILL HOLDING the mouse button (like I said, dragging)
3. And when I release the mouse color suddenly changes.
If I pick window and drag again color returns to normal. As soon as I release the mouse color changes.
This is only happening on second monitor.
I re-installed graphic drivers, and also re-installed Photoshop CC 2014.
I also changed settings so the image both monitors show is the same (duplicate screen in windows) and there is no problem then. If I return to extended display problems FIXES. But as soon as I lock the computer, and login again the problem shows up again.
Any ideas what should I do or how to fix it?

I see your using Window have two displays. I not sure how windows handle profiles for both displays. Your displays are the the same models. My Displays are physically about the same size bothe 16:9. One displays 1920x1080 pixels the other 1360 x 768 so the resolution are quite different requires me to create special wallpaper. to make sean looks seamless or image on have the same composition.
I notice that when I drag a window between displays a size difference but the color consistent. When I release the mouse button I see a color shift and a screen capture shows this. And if I drag the split window the cole os once again consistent. I think what we are seeing is more a Windows thing not a Photoshop thing.
I'm using Windows 7 and CC 2014. I do notice my window drags over the toolbar and under the pallets on the second display. Your window drags under your toolbar.

Dreamweaver and dual monitor

Dreamweaver version CS4
OS: MAC OS 10.5
Issue: I have dual monitors. Sometimes Dreamweaver will open the file browswer window in the left monitor and the title bar, or the top bar of the application is situated above the top of my monitor so I can't access the icons and tools, and there is no way to move the file browsing window because my mouse can't get to the top bar to adjust it. It's stuck on my left screen and I can't move the window.
In photoshop there's a "workspace", but in Dreamweaver I can't see a way to resituate the workspace so that the window in question will once again behave correctly. Any ideas?
Dreamweaver in all its bugginess is the only application that does this. It's like it has the monitor coordinates incorrect.

Dreamweaver also has a workspace menu. It's on the Application bar. In the Windows version, all the main menus are on the Application bar, but the Mac version respects the Mac convention of putting the program menus at the top of the monitor. Consequently, the Dreamweaver Application bar has very few items on it on a Mac, so it can be turned off.
To see the workspace menu, turn on the Application bar from the Window menu. Alternatively, use the Workspace Layout submenu of the Window menu, which has all the same options. You should be able to save your own workspace layout. If panels get out of alginment, select Reset <workspace name>.

Screensaver issue with dual monitors

My screensaver has recently started acting up. It's sort of a minor blip, but it worked before and now it won't. Here's the issue: I have dual monitors (Intel imac, running Leopard, with a Viewsonic 20" lcd running in extended desktop mode). I use a "smart" album from iphoto as a screensaver (iphoto 08, v7.1.5). I've been using this particular smart album for several months as my screensaver and it's worked fine. How it used to work: when the screensaver activates (either by time or by hot corner) both screens would draw photos from this album and randomly scroll, zoom, and fade them across each monitor, independently but simultaneously. It's worked like this flawlessly for years, with several different iphoto albums. Now, I just noticed that the second monitor does not find the pictures. A message on screen "looking for pictures" appears on both monitors, as normal, but instead of both monitors going to screensaver, only the imac starts, and the message "looking for pictures" stays on the other. What's weird is that if I run the screensaver in test mode, it works like it used to (both screens work independently and simultaneously). And if I switch to one of Apple's supplied screensavers, both screens work as well. But any iphoto album no longer works properly. I don't understand what has changed. I just recently ran an upgrade (Software Upgrade, a week or so ago) but it seems like it worked normally since then, and I don't believe the upgrade was a major one or had anything to do with iphoto. I just noticed this problem today. I've tried restarting the machine. Same issue. Any ideas what could be causing this minor, yet annoying, glitch.

I had this same problem arise after installing an iPhoto update in late January. I contacted AppleCare and the problem was escalated to a Product Specialist. The Product Specialist contacted Apple Engineering and Engineering 1) replicated the problem and 2) confirmed that it's a bug.
So, Apple is aware they have a bug and we look forward to a bug fix -- at some point in the future. I hoped the problem would be fixed with the next iPhoto update but a major update came out today and the problem remains. I don't know if there's any way to know whether the problem is an OS bug or an iPhoto bug but either way we have to wait until it reaches the top of the pile at Apple...

Dual monitor image difference CS5

I have dual monitors (lacie blue eye colour matched), but when I move an image in photoshop to the second monitor it changes. This is a new problem that has occured since I upgraded to CS5, and it only happens in photoshop. The even stranger part is it doesn't change until you release the window that you're dragging over with the mouse. Any ideas?

What platform are you on? (so we can move this out of the feature request forum)
Did you install the dot release?
Are you using OpenGL drawing? If so, it is on basic, normal, or advanced mode?
Are you sure that the display profiles are correct for both monitors?

Dual Monitor Capability

I was wondering if there was a way to have dual monitors hooked up to a TSeries ThinkPad? I currently have dual monitors and a Lenovo tower and was going to switch to a TSeries Thinkpad w/docking station but I don't want to lose the dual monitors when I am at my desk. Can anyone advise?

Yes it is possible if you use the Advanced Mini-Dock, there are several posts on how to do this.
The easiest way to set it up is to attach one monitor to the
dock's VGA and one to the dock's DVI and create a profile in
ThinkVantage Presentation Director, (shortcut Fn+F7).
When
creating your profile and selecting screens there is the option to
select output to DVI and VGA, this is only available if you first
de-select the internal screen. It will also allow you to clone the
screens or select extended desktop.
When docked the VGA port on the TP is disabled.
Another method would be to use the DualHead2Go solutions from Matrox.

Card to drive dual monitors

Wife has decided she wants to have dual monitors, and from what I've read, her current ATI 4350 has difficulties with that
A quick search shows that the ATI 4650 has two DVI output connectors, so SHOULD do what she wants with no problems
Any comments?

The card has multiple outputs. Try it before you spend any money.
Well, you win the prize... the ATI 4350 does work... albeit with a LOT of trying different options to get it all to work properly
When I got home last night wife want to try RIGHT NOW and I was too tired to go back out... so I turned my computer off and "temporarily" moved my 24 inch monitor over next to her 24 inch
I know now why I found so many questions/complaints about setting up a dual monitor system
Hardware is easy... simply connect the 2nd monitor to the 2nd output... program/logic is NOT intuitive at all, so it took me about half an hour of clicking around to get things set up and working properly
Right now, I have borrowed "her" 2nd monitor back to check email and messages this morning, and as soon as I finish here my computer goes dark again so I can put "her" 2nd monitor back in place
Of course the good thing is... later today I go to Costco (only local store I could find with one in stock) to buy a 27 inch monitor for my side of the office
