HD Errors and Problems

I've been using Mac's for the past 3 years and recently I've been experiencing a few problems with my system that don't seem to go away. I've run TechTool Deluxe and Disk Utility to repair any problems but some of them don't go away.
Both of my internal drives have Volume Structure: FAILED, and my second storage drive has Format Check: FAILED, Directory Scan: FAILED. From time to time my screen saver doesn't activate and my system stays on, at times my system freezes with a black screen as if screen saver was activated, but no login box appears.
Lastly, it seems that everytime I open a folder or select something it takes a really long time for it to figure out what to do.
I'm stuck, confused and really don't want to lug this machine into a Mac Store.

Is your data backed up?
If not, try a data recovery program such as those on my backup FAQ if you can't access your machine*:
http://www.macmaps.com/backup.html
If it is backed up, did you make sure your Techtool Deluxe version is known to be compatible with the version of the operating system you are using? If it isn't, get the latest Alsoft Disk Warrior if it is compatible. It can usually repair the directory unless the directory is so badly damaged because your hard drive is actually failing.

    If you have anti virus software installed, you need to disable that in order to download apps.

  • Mac OS X cannot Install in this computer + strange errors and problems

    Hi guys,
    My macbook works fine 3 weeks ago, but one day, any operation I make, result in loading, example: click in finder, click in one link on the internet, loading for everything.
    Then I forced down. After reboot, macbook stay in a blank blue screen.
    I search in some sites the solution for this is re-installing the system. But I loose my Mac OS X Tiger CD (version 10.4.9), then I get the CD of a friend, but when I try install, says: Mac OS X cannot be installed in this computer.
    I think the solution can be install the Leopard, then I buy new memorys (1GB now) and a new macbook white for my girlfriend, then I get the Leopard DVD (version 10.5.2) of this new macbook and try to install on my, but says the same thing: Mac OS X cannot be installed in this computer.
    One detail: When I run Disk Utility of Leopard Install Disk, have some errors in HD, then I repaired (with successful), but the error (Mac OS X cannot be...) continue.
    Another detail: I changed my Hard Drive some months ago, one problem like this have occurred, but I visited a Apple Store (my lucky, I was in US) and have replaced for a new.
    What I can do for fix it? I'm from Brasil, and don't have any Apple store here. Can you help me fix it?
    I will go to US in the end of this year, but I can't wait, I really need this computer working.
    Please, have any thing I can do?

    Correct. They are "model-specific." I recently had to order replacements for my MBP. The gal asked me for my model number and looked it up. This unit shipped with 10.5.5 and she told me that's what the new disc would have on it. As I stated before, it all has to do with Apple changing the bootROM between models.

  • Lots of error and problems in my N8

    I got this N8 few days ago and encountered a lot of problems which frustrates me a lot. I've been using Symbian S60 for 2 years and satisfy with it until I tried Symbian^3, my interests towards Symbian starting to lost. I hope that my problems can be solved so that I can restore my faith towards Symbian.
    My N8's firmware version was Symbian Anna, software version 022.014. Nokia Suite's version was 3.7.22.
    So these were the problems :
    #1. Every time when I attemps to upgrade the firmware to Belle through Nokia Suite, it fails. I stuck at the USB disconnect and reconnect procedure. As Nokia Suite fails to do that, I also tried the wireless update through the device updates in the settings. There's no result after searching, which confused me.
    #2 In the OVI Store, hot popular apps like Whatsapp, Viber, Opera Mobile 12 can't be installed. It fails every time no matter I connect through Nokia Suite with USB or Bluetooth as well. The error note in the OVI Store was 'Unable to Install. Please download the file again'. I tried for 5 times for a apps and finally gave up.  Installing apps with .sisx or .jav and other symbian supported files did not able to install either. Phone will just told me "Unable to install". Apps like Facebook and eBuddy can be installed can use flawlessly.
    The biggest confusion of mine was install an apps through Nokia Suite, I received an error message of "Time was not right and memory is full' error.
    #3 After encountered all these problem, I've decided to perform a factory reset but the default lock code was not '12345'. Do anyone knows other potential code?
    #4 Every time I connected to Nokia Sync, there will be a notification says that my phone was installing some 'Support Software' and prompts me to accept all the permissions which does not shows up and fails the installation everytime.

    I suspect that previous owner of this device may well have carried out a three key depressed power on "hard reset" to delete existing user data from it, which can also remove certain key certificates from device. I am surprised that you have found an N8 runing upon Symbian Anna and not Belle or Belle Refresh and hope that this device has not been downgraded back to Anna at some point along the way.
    As adrianhughes points out a visit to Nokia Care facility is now needed to re-furbish this device http://nokia.com/support which may reveal some of it's past life.

  • Airplay mirroring errors and problems since Mavericks 10.9.2 update

    Since the 10.9.2 update, I get an error saying I am unable to mirror airplay to my Apple TV occasionaly.  When I restart my computer, mirroring will work.  But then after so long I will get the error again and be forced to restart.  Anyone else have this problem or have any fixes?
    P.S. - I do not use AirParrot or the like.

    I started this topic, because I could not find anyone else with my same issue.  My airplay works flawlessly (both audio and video) but then my Mac occasionally requires a reboot when I want to begin using Airplay again at a later time. Many people also had 3rd party software that conflicted with Airplay.  I have never downloaded such 3rd party software that mimics Airplay.  Again, any help would be appreciated.

  • 0xE8000065 error and problems shutting down

    I recently tried to shut down my iPhone 4 and it is stuck on the shut down screen...
    I then tried to plug it into my windows computer and the error above showed... If all else fails i am gonna wait for the battery to die, it was at about 40% but i have a feeling that the pc charged it...

  • Installation error and problem recognizing device

    myDAQ device will light up blue briefly then turn off once plugged into my laptop running on Windows 7 OS. Also I have been getting multiple installation errors when trying to install te myDAQ suite such as "NIDAQmx switch core 2.2.0. has failed to install" NI PXI Platform services 2.6.2. has failed to install" I have tried to reinstall the myDAQ suite dvd that came with my device as well as downloading the most recent drivers, but this still gives me the same warnings. What could be going wrong and what should I do to fix it?

    Hi Brandon,
    Try a fresh installation, follow this guide and reinstall form the dvds. I would recommend to copy the files to the hard drive and run the exe file from there.
    The blue light should stay on, like mentioned at the user guide. Take a look at the device manager and search for yellow question or exclamation marks. try to follow this recommendations or simply delete the entry and reboot. That should force windows to recognize the device again, when the software is ok. Good luck.

    I tried using the downloaded update. It still didn't work but at least I did not have to restart my computer. The message was a little different too: "The installation failed. The Installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance."

    Run through this list of fixes, either something is corrupted or you have malware that's blocking the update.

    Make sure to backup your users files to a external storage drive first (not only TimeMachine as it may fail to restore) and disconnect, because if' it's a drive corruption/failing then the entire thing will either have to be replaced or a wipe and install done.

I do not know what exactly I have to do, because if informed a new payment method continues with the same problem, checked the card bill and really had given an error, because there was no billed the game. I ask you to verify what happened and explain to me what I need to do, because my single card is Visa's and do not intend to return others to use the services of the App Store.

    I think you need the app store support. http://www.apple.com/support/mac/app-store/contact/ Go there and use one of the methods to contact them about your issue and they should be able to help you out.

    Now on my very nice relatively newer IMAC, when I go to applications to open it... I can not find a purple tab to open it. It just has a presets folder, then open that and it has styles, templates, textures but, now little purple Pr to open or drag to my dashboard.
    Help PLEASE!!! I have wasted 20 hours of editing time, and work because of crashes, and problems.
