Hi,
Does anybody know if there is a download for Photoshop CS4-
HD Photo Plugin For Adobe Photoshop CS4?
I found a download for CS3, but not for CS4?
Can anyone help me?
I want to open Windows jpeg files, as Windows Photo Gallery is opening them.
I already set Photoshop to open the files.

That plug-in has nothing to do with viewing normal JPEG files, it is for viewing Miicrosoft HD Photo files.
You need to fix your file associations in Windows.

I have inadvertently removed my "Upload Photo" plugin for Facebook in Lightroom 5. How do I get it back?

I was having trouble uploading photos from Lightroom directly to Facebook. I thought maybe the plugin was out of date or something, so I paid for and downloaded the "Upload Photo" plugin. It's supposed to allow for direct uploads to several social media sites, not just Facebook. I followed the install instructions, followed the troubleshooting directions. Finally I "removed" it, thinking I could reinstall it. Now I can't get it back. It was supposed to have been already available in LR5. Any ideas?

Well the good news is that any product you acquire with Add-ons are stood in the Cloud so even if you remove them you can always install them again from My Add-ons:

In terms of your specific issue of getting the plug-in to work, its walkways best to first contact the producer and for every producer we have their contact email on their producer page so in this case it's: [email protected]
They do provide a good guide on their website. So I suggest that if you have completely removed the plug-in you first get the zip file again by installing from my Add-ons, you may need to click the Remove button first but after that you just click Install. After that follow the instructions here:

I have CS4 and need to open HD Photo image (.wdp).

JPEG-XR (HD Photo) Plugin

Apparently Microsoft and Adobe were working on a plugin for Photoshop a couple of years ago that added JPEG-XR support, however, despite this plugin being "officially released" I cannot find it anywhere. Does anyone know if this plugin still exists, and if it does, where it can be downloaded from? I'm running Photoshop CS5 on Windows 7.

It would be nice if Adobe could release an official plugin for this, or at least an update to Photoshop that added native support for JPEG XR. The Adobe texture format (ATF) used by Stage3D (molehill) uses JPEG XR encoded images, so it would be great to see some proper support for the format.
Anyway, the Microsoft plugin has been found, so that will have to do for now

Regular JPEG is capable of high definition (size) images.
The "HD" in "HD Photo" is a reference to the fact that the bit depth can
greatly exceed the 8-bit limitation of regular JPEG. That's primarily
of value in high-quality photo editing, and for archiving originals.

DVD player upconversion is no better than the upconversion built-in to
any decent HD TV; i.e., it's mostly just marketing hype.

MyPublisher and changing plist to 300 dpi

Hi, I am having a helluva time uploading an iPhoto 5.0.4 book to MyPublisher with the plug in. It is a hardcover 47 page book that is 226 mb. I have changed the plist to 300 dpi.
Do I need to do that? Could that be why? I have done trouble shooting with them and nothing is working. First they said the book uploaded, but there was trouble converting it to a pdf on their end and to try again. I have tried many times to upload, uninstalled and reinstalled photo plugin, and now am having trouble uploading at all.
Any suggestions??

changed the plist to 300dpi??!! How did you do that and what is it? What photos does it affect? I am going to create a MyPublisher book in the next few days. I didnt want to convert 100's of images just for the book!!

Weitwinkel-Portrais ausgleichen

ich habe ein paar schöne Portrais aufgenommen. Leider mit Weitwinkel. Dadurch sind die Nasen etwas zu groß etc.
Gibt es in PSE 3.0 eine Funktion das auszugleichen? Perspektivische Verzerrungen können ja auch wieder ausgerichtet werden. Ich habe es mit dem Wellen Filter versucht (eine Welle, konzentrisch), aber das passt nicht wirklich.

ein jammer dass ich nicht früher da reingeschaut habe, denn es ist absolut nicht notwenig, sogar fast unsinnig für dertige probleme viel geld auszugeben ... es gibt genug gratis-plugins von richard rosenman, photo-plugins, und das meines weissens beste plugin für linsenverzerrungen (allerdings nicht für perspektive) ist auch gratis: ptlens. es liest die kameradaten (exif: objektiv, brennweite usw) aus und korrigiert die verzerrungen automatisch. natürlich kann man auch manuell nachbessern. und für die perspektivekorrektur eignet sich hervorragend die verzerrungsfunktion von photoshop.
naja ... der linsenetzerrungsfilter von cs2 ist zwar ok (wahrscheinlich hat wer gelsen dass ich früher mal irgendwo geschreiben habe dass es ein skadal ist dass photoshop bei dem preis sowas nicht schon mitbringt ;), aber es gäbe weitaus wichtige dinge zum verbessern/weiterentwickeln, z.b. usm als einstellungsebene ...
das verzerren sollte bei elements doch auch funktionieren?

Vertical Banding

I'm just wondering if anyone else has had similar experiences with books printed from Aperture. I bought a 100 page book which was £85/€125, certainly not cheap, as a christmas present for relatives. On nearly every page if not every page there's vertical banding, some worse then others.
Where does Apple stand in regards to customer satisfaction on this because I'm pretty gutted, not just because of the cost but I'm going to be giving out a sub par present.
Has anyone else had similar experiences?

I've had similar problems too with printing from Apple/Kodak. I have read that Kodak does not do four pass printing, which in turn causes the cheaper look and feel alongside color banding.
The strange thing is that I ordered a book and 8x10 prints of the same pictures and the 8x10 pics looked great, but the book and a lot of graininess etc. I too was disapointed but not completly unhappy.
I talked to a fellow photographer who is a proffesional and he uses the company called MyPublisher. They have a I-Photo plugin, but no Aperture. I've seen the results first hand and I'll have to admit I was jealous. They do the four pass printing and it is really excellent.

I know it is too late for Christmas, but you could try mypublisher next time.
I've read on other Aperture disussions that if you complain enough to Apple, they'll ask you to send the PDF of the book and check it with there system. If they find that it is not your fault, they'll return your money or print you a new book.

As John said, there is no mechanism to receive notification of import. The likely recourse is continuous polling (unless you get very creative..).
You can try optimizing. e.g.: every second (or less), see if the count has changed, if it's gone up, something's been imported, if not then probably not (check anyway once in a while..).

Yeah: Lightroom won't save custom metadata in xmp, nor read it if it's there, so you are pretty much on your own - you can save in a file, but if you save as non-standard sidecar Lr won't attend to it like it will jpg or xmp sidecar. For that reason it's often better to save in a separate dedicated location. You can save in image file itself, e.g. using exiftool if raw file, but that would make me nervous, and of course you'd have to have the logic to read it somewhere too..

How do I find the home page to update plugins? Google Update, Google Earth Plugin, Windows Live Photo Gallery. I have been to the Google plugins page and found nothing. Thank you. .

Google Update, Google Earth Plugin, Windows Live Photo Gallery Plugin all show up as unkown plugins in the Plugin check. Windows Live Photo Gallery is part of Windows Live Essentials.
I searched the Microsoft Web-site in general and specifically Windows Live Photo Gallery and could any version numbers. My current version of Windows Live Photo Gallery Plugin is shown as 15.4.3508.1109 last updated Novmber 10, 2010. I did an internet search and this appears to be the version number for Window Live Essentials 2011. Filecluster.com lists the latest version of Windows Live Photo Gallery as 15.4.3538.0513 updated on Jul 07, 2011. I can find no versions or dates for the plugin.

In aperture 3.4.5, I get unsupported file error when exporting version of photo I've edited using plugins. I have try reinstalling aperture three times, deleting plists a few times, reinstalling plugins, restarting my MacBook Pro many times. Everything I've tried may fix the problem for a very short while and I can export a few photos before it returns. The problem happens with topaz and photomatrix pro plugins after I edited and try to export version.

I had the same problem with the Photomatix plug-in and this solved it for me. I realised it only happened with Photomatix and not other plug-ins so I checked where the plug-ins were installed. The Photomatix plug-in was installed in
~/Library/Application Support/Aperture/Plug-Ins/
where ~ is the home location for the current user account. All the other plug-ins however were installed in
Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Aperture/Plug-Ins/
which is the location that makes them available to all user accounts on your Mac. Moving the Photomatix plug-in to this location solved the problem for me.
Note that the Library directory under the first location is normally hidden, to get to it hold down the Option (Alt) key and select it from the Finder Go menu.

Can I build a plugin that allows my clients to export a photos or a collection as a catalog?

All I want to know is if I can invoke the export as catalog feature (file>export as catalog) from a plugin. For a example, I want my users to put their photo on any collection created under my plugin and allow them to export their selection as a catalog. So I can receive their catalog on the destination site, I dont want to receive individual photos, I want to be able to receive the catalog.
Is that possible?

Ellis what I need to know is if the exporting services provided by SDK and the API somehow would allow me to export a collection or a group of collections as a catalog, so I can take advantage from the smart previews. I would like to perform this action as a comand, i.e. Right click send to melvin.
I know that the API provides a function to build smart previews, but am I able to export those smart previews without the catalog? If so, would I be able to edit those files on other computer and then import them back ?

Plugin to transfert photo from Mail to iPhoto?

Hi,
My mother is using 10.3 Mail and iPhoto 5 (ithink, not sure of the version!).
She received many times photos in Mail. She would like a simple way to move pintures from Mail attachement to iPhoto. 10.4 includes a feature like this.
I'd like to know if there is any Mail plugin or any (really easy) hint that can help her move her photos from Mail to iPhoto.

I'm not positive about panther, but what happens if your mother selects the "SAVE" button next to the Paper Clip "Attachments" notice at the bottom of the mail header? (Just above the actual message)
In Tiger, you get the option to download the files, or "Add to iPhoto." Have her check this, OK?
