HDD not working on windows because of time machine...WHAT TO DO?

I am a new Mac user and cannot seem to get it with the external harddrives. I bought one that is supposed to be working with both windows and mac but after installing time machine (which formatted it in a non windows way i guess) it is not readable by windows. I have browsed several articles but have no idea what to do. Would it help to part it in 2 and use one part for time machine while formatting the other one to fit with windows? Would that work? I want to be able to have time machine but also randomly being able to copy music from friends with pc:s. Other people seem to be complaining after doing that (parting) mac could not read the stuff from windows. aaaargh help!!What to do???

Okay, I copied the library to another location and when I tried to open that library by pressing option at startup to choose the library, it told me the following:
There was an error opening the database for the library "library name". The library could not be opened because the file system of the library's volume is unsupported.
So, I'm guessing that was a fail! I then tried the suggestion from Frank Caggiano, which also did not work. I'm feeling quite defeated. Looking for that magic touch

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

Old external Toshiba HDD not working with Windows 7

I feel as if this problem is going to affect more and more people. Having searched the internet without luck, I felt the need to address the issue here!
I have an external 320GB Toshiba HDD, model: PX1267E-1G32 which Windows 7 (64Bit Professional) does not recognise. It does not show up in my computer and states the device is not working properly. Troubleshooting does not help, and it suggests i have the latest driver for it (version 6.1.7600.16385)
I can not find any support for this device. I have read some people trying to tackle the password protection it comes with (a separate partition with this function) but this is not an issue for me as i never use it. There are drivers on that partition as well which have no affect on windows when i have transferred them via a flash stick.
On my laptop Windows XP is installed and it finds the HDD without any problems. This has lead me to believe there is a fault with compatibility within the newer windows systems. I have tried formatting the drive, reinstalling drivers and searching for a solution. I really can not believe this has not been resolved somewhere and fear with it being an older discontinued product (Mid 2006) there will be little support for it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

this device is recognized under every other system than yours, right?
if so maybe your software is misconfigured or your usb connection is bad....
how to determine?
try other devices like an usb-stick
check bios if legacy usb support is on
check device manager (device plugged in) if it shows any information like a //dev_xxxx
if your usb port is ok
goto device manager and remove all usb devices (show hidden devices)
reboot and let the system determine the hub etc
plug in usb-hdd and see if it will be detected - keep in mind: you dont have to load a driver for a usb storage device by yourself
if the usb ports are ok and your hdd is recognized by other systems maybe it's time for a recovery of your system....

Just bought this as a backup device for Small Business Server 2008 which runs on Windows 2008 64-bit. However it does not recognise it? Are there any drivers anywhere for this or is it just not supported and I need to buy an alternative?
Connected it to my Windows 7 64-bit laptop and no problems there.

Unfortunately, there is no other software for download.
I checked the Toshiba driver page in Options area but didnt find anything
As far as I know its a plug & play HDD so you dont need any software in order to recognize the HDD
Possibly there is a password protection.
Try this:
Connect your HDD to the PC where the HDD is working
select the CD Drive (Password) with your Explorer
run the ONSPCLCK.exe
select "Options"
select "Disable Password Security"
enter your Current Password
unplug the HDD
connect the HDD
Now it will work but without any password protection. Maybe it would works

HT4500 Support Apple advice does not work; I followed the instructions; Time Machine backups cannot be found, possibly in use. Right after an installation of OS.

I tried recovery by entering time machine and selecting the files, but they don't appear anywhere; they're on the HD somewhere but neither Finder nor Spotlight can 'find' them.

Have you repaired your permissions? This can be a very frustrating situation which I encountred after a logic board replacement.
What I did was start a TM backup, but excluded items too make it a minimal backup. Make sure you select verify in the TM option before you backup. After the current backup I was able to see the sparse bundle and the prior backups in the Finder. (Check and see after this backup if your oldest and current backups are llisted. If not read on) However, it would not remain seen in the Finder after I closed it. Somehow I was able to see my prior backups again in the Finder. This time I deleted the current TM App in the applications and copied the old one from the TM. It now shows me both old and current backups for selection.
I do not profess to be an expert on the TM. This is just how I accidentally solved my problem.
I wish Apple or a Apple Developer would make an App for these problems. Someone could make a lot a money.

Photo Stream not working on Windows in a Virtual Machine, but not on my Mac

since yesterday I tried to connect to Photo Stream with my Mac, but I can't. It works fine in my Windows 7 Virtual Machine with the iCloud software, it works fine on my iPhone 4S. The iCloud System Status suggests that all services work just fine.
However, as soon as I try to activate Photo Stream in iPhoto 9.2 (626) (App Store version, confirmed latest version) or Aperture 3.2 (non App Store version, confirmed latest version), I am presented with the message, which roughly translates to "Activating Photostream... iPhoto couldn't connect to Photostream", with an "Abort" button as the only option.
All other iCloud features work perfectly fine for me. Any suggestiosn?

Setup Airport Extreme for the home wireless - MacBook Air, Pro, and iPad connect just fine. Wireless will not work to Windows 7 and Vista machines - network seen, tries to connect, but fails after entering WPA key.

Can't get Windows Vista or Windows 7 laptops to access internet via Airport Extreme. Works fine with security on MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, and iPad. Brand new Airport, bought today. Windows machines worked fine with existing, relatively modern Cisco home router. The Windows machines see the wireless network, prompt for password, and then cannot connect. Have tried all sorts of things with Windows machines, deleted existing networks, etc. even tried guest login with no security on the Airport - no luck. Windows XP machine directly (wire) connected works fine. Magic Jack works OK. Light is green on the front.

I have been using i-tunes for a couple years without problems. Recently I keep being told i-tunes is not working and Windows shuts it down. I have repeatedly reinstalled it - earlier times as a "repair", then have uninstalled i-tumes and reinstalled it, but the problem persists. Lately it has said something like "Apple Device Manager not installed", but since i-tunes shuts down there is not a way to care for that in i-tunes, if that's where it needs to be activated.

yeah in some cases creating a new iTunes library file could fix issues like that mostly because when iTunes tries to access a bad library file iTunes will take so long to analyze bad information and it eventually crashes for issues like that you should try these articles

I am having ?audigy 2 ZS platinum and no issues in windows xp recently i tried installing windows 7 so i downloaded the driver from the website.
my problem is in windows 7 im not able to use the both headphone and 7.1 speaker together but in windows xp it works fine and no issues when ever i want to use the headphone just turn off the volume controller it was very & convenient for me.in windows 7 if i set the speaker mode in 5.1 i can hear sound from headphone simaltaneously but not in 7.1 speaker configuration.another annoying thing is that when ever i plug the headphone trebble and bass settings is restored to deafult.every time i have to keep on changing this when changing from 7.1 to headphone
I already tried all the option in eax console regarding heaphone options?
Is there any solution to use both headphone and 7.1 speaker together

Still i cant use windows 7 because of this issue i would like to correct the administrator its not eax console its creative audio console and i used the default driver which is available on your site.
If i choose 2.1/4.1/5.1 mode i can hear in headphone too but if i switch to 7.1 no sound on headphone.
i love the feature that i can turn of my speaker controller and keep listening in headphone which i use in windows xp with out changing anything and if i need 7.1 just turn on the speaker volume controller.

HP Mediasmart Live TV does not work on Windows 10

HP Mediasmart Live TV does not work after Windows 10 upgrade. Error says: Your TV tuner cannot be accessed because it is being used by another application. Please close any programs that might be using it and then try again. Although I am able to open the settings and scan for channels, and I see the channels being found, but still no luck watching after the setup is done. My HP Laptop has a built in HP ATSC/Analog TV Tuner card. (AVerMedia maybe?) I suspect that is may have something to do with the fact that the driver does capture at the same time you are watching (Allows you to pause and then continue watching live TV, also has the ability to scedule recordings) Unfortunatly Windows 10 also removes Windows Media Center, so I can't check with that software, is also possible a remnant may be left behind to support Windows Media Center that is conflicting with something else. Also would be nice if they would fix the installers so it does not uninstall the software, then fail to re-install it. (All without any display or error messages, so your left scratching your head trying to figure out what happened.) I managed to get the rest of MediaSmart to work, although it looks like the internet veiwer may not connect to anything anymore. Looking for an updated driver or installer, or patch that would work for Windows 10. As far as I can tell on the internet HP MediaSmart Live TV is supposed to work on Windows 10.

OK, More information. Installed Media Portal 1. This works with the tuner card without additional modification, so this appears to be some kind of issue with the software. Media Portal 1 does install a different version of Direct X, I don't know if that could have anything to do with it, but HP MediaSmart Live TV still comes up with the same error and will not run.

ITunes 9 Home Sharing does not work on Windows 7 x64

iTunes 9 Home Sharing does not work on Windows 7 x64.
Getting the following error message:
Home sharing could not be activated because this computer is not authorized for the account "iTunes account." Please authorize this computer and try again.
This is a bug since my computer is authorized in iTunes and there is only 2 computer authorized for my iTunes account, so I have 3 more left till I should get this message.
I've just upgraded my iPhone to OS 3.1 using it this morning.
Please advise.

I am running iTunes 9.0.2.25
I am running Mcafee.
I can see and play music from the iTunes installation on my Windows 7 machine, but I CANNOT access the library to copy songs from this computer to other computers on my network.
YES, I have enabled "Home Sharing" using my iTunes account. NO, I have not authorized more than 5 computers on this account.
I believe this to be a Windows 7 related issue, as Home Sharing worked as advertised when I was using Vista (before I upgraded to Windows 7).
I CAN set up Home Sharing on two other (host) computers in my home network and it works. These computers are XP and a MacBook Pro. I CANNOT access my Windows 7 machine x64 to COPY music from one autorized library to another. Please help!!!
P.S. - I have attempted to get this to work by turning OFF my McAfee firewall. Windows firewall is disabled.

MFA not working on Windows Server 2012 R2

Been using MFA since PF days. Deployed it successfully many times but for some reason it's not working with Windows Auth, Terminal Services on a Win 2012 R2 DataCenter box? The machine was successfully added to my domain PhoneFactor group, I
can see and add the machine on the master MFA. Services are running but when I remote in I go right through without MFA stopping me? Any ideas?

So they added a whole stack of other functionality, but still didn't get around to taking a look at this bug. I'm stunned. Is there any sort of timeline on fixing this, or is 2012 R2 just going to remain unsupported forever?

I lost my original CD-Driver and I tried to download the CD-Driver on HP website but it doesn't work when I click printing. It seems that my HP Laserjet P1006 is not working on Windows 7 (64-bit).

I can help you with finding the drivers for the Laserjet P1006.
Just to clarify, you were able to install the printer software, but it just isn't printing correct?
Here are the two drivers available for Windows 7 64 bit.
HP LaserJet P1000-P1500 Hostbased Plug and Play Basic Driver.
HP LaserJet P1005/P1006/P1500 Printer Series Full Feature Software and Driver.
Try and print a hardware self test on the printer to find out if it is a hardware or software issue.
Open and close the lid five times quickly. It should print off a page with black lines on it.
Download and run the Print and Scan Doctor. It will diagnose the issue and might automatically resolve it. Find and fix common printer problems using HP diagnostic tools for Windows?
What were the results when you ran the Print and Scan Doctor? (did it print or scan, any error messages)
