header tag in soap

i just read through Axis user doc, but all sample app it mention doesn't show how to use the <HEADER> tag inside soap request / response.
1 -- is <HEADER> tag not much a use when doing 1 - 1 host to host request /response?
2 -- <HEADER> is only useful when soap massage need to pass multiple endpoints / hosts ?
3 -- Why most of the web services at www.xmethods.net don't use <HEADER> tag on request / response xml?
4 -- Is that in most cases, BODY tag in soap is enough? no HEADER needed?
5 -- Hosts in between web service client + provider process <HEADER> elements but not the content of BODY element? and the Ultimate SOAP receiver will process the BODY elements?

Note sure if this possible.. but just wondering if you can try using <bpelx:remove> extention to delete the soap header variables..
Other viable option is to write SOAP Message handlers on your outbound webservices...

  • Access to SOAP header in synchronous SOAP response?

    Hi,
    Scenario: message received via synchronous SOAP adapter call.
    In the response which is sent back to the sender i can influence the SOAP body but not the SOAP header.
    Is there a possibility to manipulate/add/map the SOAP header in synchronous response messages?
    Thank you very much in advance for your hints.
    Greetings
    Michael

    Hi Christophe,
    per default PI is sending back something like this
    <SOAP:Envelope xmlns:SOAP='http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/'>
         <SOAP:Header/>
         <SOAP:Body>
              Payload, which can be accessed via mapping
         </SOAP:Body>
    </SOAP:Envelope>
    but required are some fields in the Header tag like:
    <SOAP:Envelope xmlns:SOAP='http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/'>
         <SOAP:Header>
                                   <SOAP:ABC>date</SOAP:ABC>
         </SOAP:Header>
         <SOAP:Body>
              Payload, which can be accessed via mapping
         </SOAP:Body>
    </SOAP:Envelope>

  • XI APIs to access SOAP Header Tags

    Hi Forum,
    The way we use DynamicConfiguration class from com.sap.aii.mapping.api.* API, to access file names etc,
    is there classes available for accessing other tags in the SOAP Header, for example ReliableMessaging, PerformanceHeader, etc

    U can look into Adapter Specific attributes for soap adapter also. If you want to transfer header fields, set the relevant indicator for Variable Header in the SOAP communication channel. This is generic for header fields. Not sure about the particual fields

  • SOAP Header Tag

    Hi All,
    Is there any way out to eliminate the tag <SOAP:Header/> while sending the message to a legacy system using a receiver SOAP adapter.
    <SOAP:Envelope xmlns:SOAP='http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelop
    e/'>
    <SOAP:Header/>
    <SOAP:Body>
    Need to eliminate the SOAP:Header tag while sending...Is this possible in any way..
    Thanks
    Amit

    Hi All
    We have a empty SOAP Header tag which needs to be suppressed so that the target system receives the data...
    Any way we can achieve this without going in for adapter module..
    I have tried with Do not use SOAP envelope, Encoded headers...All options dont yield the desired result..
    It is an empty <SOAP Header/> tag which we want to eliminate..

  • Read SOAP Header tag

    Hi,
    I'm using with great success JDEV9.0.3prod for create and deploy web services. I maked all with wizard.
    All work, but now I would read and manage SOAP header tag.
    This is the question: how is possible to read the header tag of the SOAP Message, using jdev wizard?
    Any help would be very appreciated.
    Thank in advanced.
    massimo

    Unfortunately, the JDev wizards don't help access the header characteristics, yet.
    It is further complicated in that the Oracle9iAS Web Services implementation right now does not have a good way to get the header information, however, the Apache SOAP implementation that also ships with Oracle9iAS does.
    As we go forward to JAX-RPC the API's for the header will be exposed. If absolutely necessary now, you can use the Apache SOAP implementation (we are actually at 2.3.1) so the doc at xml.apache.org on Apache SOAP and pointers to headers should give you an idea of how to approach it.
    Sorry I don't have any code samples to point you at.
    Mike.

  • 'Keep Header' Option in SOAP sender adapter not working

    Hi all
    I have exposed  a webservice using a SOAP sender adapter in XI. A SOAP client is sending request to this service.
    The SOAP request has some elements in the header like wssecurity and ws addressing tags.
    When I remove the header elements and send the request my scenario works as expected but when I include the header fields I get a time out in my soap client application and cannot see any message, any where on  XI. Can somebody help me understand why this is happening.
    Thanks
    Dilip

    Hi Stefan
    In my scenario it is ok if XI ignores the soap header tags it does not understand. I want the system to ignore the header tags and go ahead and process only the payload.
    But unfortunately I keep getting a time out whenever I send a request with the header tags. When I remove the header I can sucessfully post documents.
    I tried increased the time out to 5 min but still continue to get the problem.  So am sure the problem is not exactly related to timeout, but due to the header tags.
    What do you suggest?
    Regards
    Dilip

  • User Credential passed in customised tag in soap message

    Hi
    We have PO 7.31 exposed a web service. When we use SoapUI, it is successful.
    When actual consumer call this web service with basic authentication, the user name and password are passed in customized soap header tag.
    e.g.
    <soapenv:Header/>
          <CustomerTag>
                      <UserID>xxxx</UserID>
                      <Pwd>*******</Pwd>
          </CustomerTag>
    <soapenv:Header/>
    Therefore our server does not pick them up. Client side got "401 Unauthorized"
    * We do not want to disable user authentication
    Anyone has idea how we allow server to authenticate the user ?
    Thanks
    -Liang

    Hi Liang,
    When you are calling the webservice from SOAP UI, at that time also do you get authentication parameters in Custom Tag?
    This might be failing bcz PI doesn't expect user id and password in Custom tag.... Ask your actual application to pass the user id and password in url itself.
    Thanks,
    Hetal

  • I am running 10.6.8 and using iweb for my web site. After several SEO analysis they all indicate I need H1-6 header tags. After looking at the source code I see there are none in iweb. Is it necessary to add? If so, how do I add H Tags to iweb.

    I am running 10.6.8 and using iweb for my web site. After several SEO analysis they all indicate I need H1-6 header tags. After looking at the source code I see there are none in iweb. Are they necessary to add?  Why would one add these tags and how do I add H Tags to iweb? And are there examples to look at? I am slowly learning about simple web design and assumed that iweb was stand alone without having to write code. Is this one of the reasons iweb is no longer supported? Thanks for looking at this!

    A simple text page like this:
    Heading
        sub heading
              text paragraph ....
    Is traditionally represented by html tags like:
    <h1>Heading</h1>
         <h2>sub heading</h2>
              <p>text paragraph ... </p>
    I would guess that the use of h1-h6 tags helps search engines to understand the structure of a page as the tags imply a certain structure.
    This can be compared to more generic tags like <div> that could represent any kind of content - and may be what iWeb uses (you'll have to check yourself).
    I would generally recommend that you use some kind of up to date blog/site building tool, perhaps Wordpress or Squarespace (I haven't used either one myself) that support current web technologies - this should reduce your SEO issues and make it easier to properly support mobile/tablet users.

  • HTTP Header fields in SOAP adapter - Part 2

    Hi All,
    With regards to my previous thread HTTP Header fields in SOAP adapter
    my header issue is solved and hence I have closed the thread but still I am not able to make the connection successful. The new problem is below
    My vendor requirement is to specify the header as "Ent-sender" but when we give the same in XI in communication channel it automatically convets into uppercase "ENT-SENDER".  Due to case-sensitive in vendor server the connection is not gettingestablished.
    Please help me out how to solve the problem.
    <b>Note:</b> Sorry for the new thread as it was created due to new problem and also the previuos thread is already too long.
    Regards,
    Dhill

    Hi Neaves,
      Thank you, I jave seen the note and find the below solution will be some what realated to my prblem.
    <u><b>The nosoap mode lets the adapter send the XI payload directly without wrapping it in the SOAP envelope. Although the main use of this mode is to send some plain text content directly to some web server, one can use this mode to send their own SOAP message (e.g., with arbitrary headers) to an external web service (See related questions). In this case, the XI payload must be formatted in the SOAP envelope.
               To use the nosoap mode, the channel must be configured to use no SOAP envelope.</b></u>
    If yes, can you please let me know how to use nosoap mode otherise let me the other possibilities.  I am already using tcpg2.zip to trace the SOAP adapter in which it was confirmed that XI is changing the header automatically into CAPS whatever case we give,
    Regards,

  • PLease Help: Does anyone know how to retain the Scope in the Header Tag when converting a table in

    I am trying to convert aa Word Document with Tables containing Data and Header Columns to retain the Scope="col" when it is converted to PDF.
    After the PDF is created, I check my Header Tags and everything looks fine however the Scope is null and I need to somehow retain scope=columes in order to certify this report is 508 compliant.
    For those who are interested; the html should be:
    <th scope="col"> Color </th>
    My html is coming across the PDF distiller is only <th >     </th>
    Maybe there is another piece of software that does this correctly? I tried OpenOffice - the same problem occurs.
    Thank you

  • How to print between head-Tags of a Portal component

    Hello,
    is it possible to print between the -Tags of the generated HTML-Code? I need to insert a JAVAScript between the tags.
    Currently i am simply using the Writer-Object in the doContent() to print out the HTML-Code. But i found nothing how to access the head?
    With best regards
    Edited by: Björn Karpenstein on Aug 19, 2008 9:12 AM

    Hi,
    One way of doing this is by creating a new Servlet Responce in doContent method. This way you can set the head tag by yourself.
    Here is the code:
    // get the reference to the ServletResponse (exclusivly) and set the content type to HTML
    ServletResponse sResponse = portalComponentRequest.getServletResponse(true);
    sResponse.setContentType("text/html");
    // get the reference to the PrintWriter
      PrintWriter writer = sResponse.getWriter();
    // write the HTML header
    writer.write("<html><head></head><body>\n");
    Check if this suites your requirement, if not let me know.

  • How to remove the header tag in the XML data ?

    Hi All,
    I am sending an XML data from SFTP to Proxy, in that I want to remove the header tag (first tag) from the xml, while loading the data. how to do that ?

    Hi,
          It is not about the thing that, whether your source is XML or flat file. If you dont want some thing in your source file , dont consider it and dont map it with your target structure. think that, your not getting the header in your source.  What is the header here.
    <Emp_details>
    <Emp_Id> Employee No </Emp_Id>
    <Emp_Name> Employee Name </Emp_Name>
    </Emp_details>
    <Emp_details>
    <Emp_Id> 1234 </Emp_Id>
    <Emp_Name> xxxx </Emp_Name>
    </Emp_details>
    <Emp_details>
    <Emp_Id> 5678 </Emp_Id>
    <Emp_Name> yyy </Emp_Name>
    </Emp_details>
    you have two fields under node Emp_details. What do u want to avoid here?

  • Http Header for a SOAP message using SAAJ.

    Hello java community,
    I need to set the 'SOAPAction' field in the HTTP Header of a soap message. I am using SAAJ to build the message.
    Does anyone know how to do this?
    Help is greatly appreciated as always.

    You have to put a Handler in front of your WebService to intercept it.

  • Problem applying Spry tool tips to child pages because the head tag is in a locked region

    I’m new to DW and migrating a site from GoLive CS2 to DW CS5. The site uses templates created in GL CS2. I have stripped out as much GL stuff as possible.
    I want to use the SPRY tooltips as a way to show captions for graphics that are on some of the pages (I used to use an Open New Browser window for that but I don’t have as much control in DW as I did in GL). But when I try to apply SPRY tooltips (or any SPRY widget for that matter) I get the following message:
    “Required links could not be added to this file because the <head> tag is in a locked region. To insert this content, open the template file ‘xyz.dwt’ and either unlock the <head> tag or add this content to the template.”
    I am not sure how to go about solving this problem. In the template there is an editable region for adding graphics but in the template itself there are no graphics or anything else to apply a tooltip too. Also in the child pages there may be more than one place to use a tooltip. So that suggests to me that I should not add a tooltip to the template. That brings me to the other option.
    How would I go about unlocking the  <head> tag in the template, without messing everything up?
    Or, should I detach any page from the template when I want to add tooltips then reapply the template? I am planning to ditch the GL template anyway and apply a DW template to all the pages anyway.
    Any suggestions as to what I should do?
    Yours faithfully
    Branko
    PS I’m using Mac with Snow Leopard.

    I found a solution.
    I just made a transparent PNG. Put it in an inconspicuous part of the template. On the child page I could make as many copies as I needed making sure I provided id tags for each use etc.

  • Header missing in SOAP message header (SAP XI Extension)

    Hi Experts,
    We are implementing interface MasterDataUpdateConfirmation_Out between 2 SAP ERP systems. The middleware is SAP PI.
    SAP PI team requested a change in this interface Stack - Replace Stack ABAP by Stack Java. The changes were made.
    However, now we get an error in the interface in the SAP ERP sender system, but the message arrives to SAP PI where is processed without errors and also arrives to SAP ERP receive system and the message is also processes without errors.
    The error we have in XML message in SAP ERP sender system is:
    XML element {http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/}Header missing in
    SOAP message header (SAP XI Extension)
    Exception of class CX_XMS_SYSERR_PARSER
    Can anyone please help us? We have no ideia what to do.
    Thanks in advance,
    RS

    Hi again,
    I don't know if it is important, but the communication is asynchronous and the sender system is SAP ECC 6.0.
    Thanks!
