Headstart Toolbar

Hello all,
I would like to ask if someone in this list already experienced the folllowing issue.
After an upgrade of Developer Run time 6.0 (Patch 7), some ( not all !! ) forms generated with Designer 6.0 don't show the toolbar icons.
Config : Win 2000 SP2 - DB 8.1.7 - Des 2K 6.0 - HSD 2.1

I succesfully solved this problem a few weeks ago at a customers site. On metalink I found a note that states that toolbar gifs are not used from a cached jar when the default.icons.iconpath variable in the registry.dat file points to a file location that is different from the directory where the jar file resides cq is not on the forms60_path.
I solved the problem by blanking out the virtual directory specified in the registry.dat, just specify:
default.icons.iconpath=
Afterwards the java console did not mention additional downloads of gif files anymore.

Commit button in Headstart Toolbar does not change at Record Insert

In some (we have al least three different forms) forms with a multi-record block the toolbar does not register a status change if a new record is entered and the commit button wil not be enabled.
Could someone tell us which trigger(s) effect the toolbar. It seems that it will work if you execute enter_querymode and execute-query first.
We are using Headstart version 6.5.3.1 for 9i.

hi Sander,
Possibly you are hitting a designer bug. When u use a list of values on the first enterable item in the multirecord block, this behaviour occurs. Also the behaviour that u will not be able to delete the last child record, because of the error 'field must be entered'. We are experiencing this problem as well and we managed to change most the multirecord blocks so they don't have a LOV as first item, bust it does not in all cases work or just wasn't possible.

Is it possible to disable a button in the Headstart 6i Toolbar/smartbar?

In a master/detail form, which I'm developing, I want to disable
the Create Record button in the Toolbar the moment I enter the
detail block.
I've tried using QMS$TOOLBAR.DISABLE_BUTTON in the WHEN-NEW-
BLOCK-INSTANCE, but that wouldn't work.
I'm using Headstart 6i.
Can somebody tell me if it's possible to disable the buttons and
if so, how?

Yes, you can disable a button on teh smartbar.
You do this by disabling the associated menu item.
Use: QMS$MENU.DISABLE_ITEM or QMS$FORM_FUNCTION.DISABLE.
(See page 14-9 en 14-10 of the User Guide)
In your case you can use:
QMS$FORM_FUNCTION.DISABLE('CREATE_RECORD');
By the way: there is now a seperate forum for Headstart.

SOME FUNCTIONS BEHIND MENU/TOOLBAR ITEMS NOT WORKING

In application the toolbar button 'new record' and 'next record' are not
working. The associated menu items also not work.
When copying same set of binaries to another directory with another forms
listener then everything is ok. So the problem is not in the fmx's.
Most menu/toolbar items do work only those two have problems.
Any suggestions?

The problem was probably due to a connection error.
Nothing to do with designer or headstart.

Deploying an application lost toolbar

i try to deploy an application generated with headstart in window NT4, to an unix platform.
The forms run kindly, but the toolbar don't appear.
What's the problem ?

Icon in horizontal toolbar toolbar

Hello,
I am using Designer Headstart 9i. I created a module network and generated my menu. I would like for some of the screens to have an icon in the horizontal toolbar. For now I open the mmb file and add the icon names manually and recreate the mmx. Does anyone know how I can define this in Designer so that I don't need to do any post generation.

May it be due to the fact that, at runtime, it cannot find the icon?Yes that may be the reason. This could hep Icon Filename Location

Dear all,
The Headstart Oracle Designer forum was originally intended as a platform for discussions on the use of the Headstart Template Package and Utilities in conjuction with Oracle Designer. For this reason, the Oracle Headstart team monitors this forum and tries to answer questions and solve problems for our customers that are using Headstart.
As it turns out, the forum is now used for a much broader number of topics, including database and SQLnet, Web Server Generator, Forms 6i, non-Headstart related Designer issues, and many more. This is not a problem; appearently for some topics a more appropriate forum is not available and as long as people 'find eachother' on this forum it is serving its purpose.
An unfortunate side effect is that for the Headstart team it is becoming increasingly difficult to locate the 'real Headstart' topics in the list. Therefore we would like to ask anyone that wants to post a Headstart related topic to make this clear in the Subject. Ideally, this would be done by starting the subject with 'HST' when it involves the Template Package, or 'HSU' when it involved the Utilities. If you could then add the Headstart version number to it, it would really make our day! So for instance:
"HST6i: Problem creating MSEL lov"
"HSU212: Error in "Create Find Window" utility
If you do not know how to classify your topic in this manner, at least make sure to put the word "Headstart" in the Subject.

Toolbar is b/w

We use headstart for our web-application. The toolbar is b/w except when you go over it by mouse. Is this normal or have i encountered a bug?

By 'b/w' I assume you mean black and white?
If so, then the toolbar is black and white for buttons that are disabled. However, if buttons are enabled, they
should be in color. When you run your mouse over an individual button (that is enabled) it should 'pop up' a bit.
This is all handled by the webforms runtime engine if you are using the Oracle Look and Feel.

Application stuck under menu toolbar

An application I'm running (Filezilla FTP client) is stuck under the mac menu toolbar. I can't grab the toolbar of the application to move it or access what I need to access. I've researched this issue and other people have had the same problem, but none of their solutions have worked for me. I've tried changing the resolution of my screen, disconnecting my dual monitor, "zoom" is not available in the program I'm working with, and I've tried a multitude of expose/spaces/random key commands to no avail. Any other ideas?

I can't see from your screenshot if there available screen space around the window. You could try dragging the window down from one of the bottom edge - making it smaller first if necessary (when the cursor is near the edge it has double arrow that indicates changing the window size), then make sure that your mouse is enough inside the window that the cursor is a normal one-arrow and drag it down. Repeat if necessary until the title bar reappears.

2. Write this code :
data : excl type SLIS_T_EXTAB.
data : exclwa type SLIS_EXTAB.
exclwa = '&OUP'.
append exclwa to excl.
exclwa = '&ODN'.
append exclwa to excl.
3. Then while calling the FM,
pass this parameter also .
IT_EXCLUDING = excl
It will work fantastic.

Print crystal report without using the print button on toolbar

Hi,
I am working on Crystal report XI. I need to print the report w/o using the toolbar. So I have inserted a print icon in the report. On clicking that icon it should call a jsp page which will print the report. I am not able to call any print methods provided by JRC to do this.
Can someone help me with this problem.
Is there some other way to implement it ?

Print the report where? On what printer? The server's printer?
Java code runs on the server. You can't affect the client's computer from JSP.
You can write javascript code which can call window.print() but that is working through the browser to display the print dialog box (as if the user selected file:print)

I performed the update to version 7.3.5 and now I cannot undo the update that eliminated a toolbar that I use every day. How do I recover my toolbar? With the upgrade on a windows 7 machine, whenever I open firefox I get a white screen.

Uninstall to my prior version is not working. I need to go back to the original version for two reasons. First, I can no longer use one of the toolbars that was compatible to previous version, but is no longer supported so it was disabled, and two when I try and open firefox from any short cut, I get a solid white screen and I do not get any toolbars nor is there any way to navigate to a tabbed option since I can not see anything and it just hangs there with out going to my homepage or anything else.

Do you see the menu bar or anything else? As for the missing toolbar, this is the case for 90% of Firefox users, for instance the Google Toolbar. To restore it, you need to install Mozilla's Add-On Compatibility Reporter extension from https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/15003 and restart Firefox twice.
As for the white screen, I am not sure what you mean, but your install looks corrupted, you probably need to uninstall Firefox and reinstall from scratch. You may spend too much time and effort otherwise. Back up your settings first if you have any, like Firefox bookmarks.

I keep getting the box that asks "Do you use the Yahoo! Toolbar on multiple Computers. It asks Save to my Yahoo! ID, or No thanks, just save to this computer. How do I get rid of this one way or the other?

When I log on to Firefox, I get this block that pops up saying, "Do you use the Yahoo! Toolbar on multiple computers? It has 2 buttons asking "Save to my Yahoo! ID or No thanks, just save to this computer" It drops down from the Yahoo toolbar, next to the Y! on the left side of the tool bar. I have tried the Save button and no response, I tried the No thanks button no response. I tried the underlined "Learn more" and it too no response. I tried the close X but that does not get rid of this box. I tried right clicking and no response. It stays there through out while working on the mail, I cannot access the that toolbar so I cannot use the buttons on this tool bar. Please help or I will have to try another browser to see if it go away.

How do I move my toolbars up or down?

I have several toolbars and they are not in the order I want them to be. I want to move a toolbar to the top and one to the bottom. How do I do that?

What are the ''several toolbars'' they presumably have names, I am not familiar with some of the sytem info you are showing 
by default Firefox will have
* menubar - that only displays permanently if the firefox button is not on
* navigation toolbar - by default the location bar - you type web address into the search bar - that gives you extra search options
*bookmarks toolbar - not the open tabs, part of the bookmarks system
*add-on bar - this used to include the status bar, now it depends on your add-ons
*tabs - this is always shown, the choice is to put it on top or not.

How can i print an Excel file when in the full screen mode (no print options on toolbar or right clk

using Vista, sometimes after creating and saving an excel file, the document is not visible when the file is reopened.
selecting full screen mode makes the document visible, but the toolbars disappear and the print option does not show up on a right click. How can i print the document and see the document in some other mode than full screen?

In order to print, you can click the CTRL+P keys to launch the print dialog,
Regarding the missing toolbar, try clicking the ALT key to shouw the software menu, then look around under the view option for any available toolbar settings,
If you cannot find it, i would recommend you to try the Microsoft support forums, as they have some more knowledge with their software features
