Help! 1 year warranty

Right above the button that you press to open the lid of the macbookpro, the material that the macbookpro is made of is lifting off and slightly slicking out. Right now this is a small part sticking out but I am worried that as time goes on it will get worse. I have never dropped this laptop and I dont know why its doing this, but I need to know if this is covered under the 1 yr warranty. Can I take it to any Apple store and have them send it out to be fixed under the warranty? What if I dont have my receipt? Can they use the serial number to see when I purchased it?

Audiomachine,
Go to the Apple support tab on their Website, http://www.apple.com/support/ and enter your computer serial number in the box under "About Your Support Coverage". This box is on the Lower right side of page. It will tell you what they have in their database as date of purchase, and if it is still covered under waranty. You should not need to show them your receipt, if your computer shows still under warranty.
Please note that the date they have in their database might not be the same as actual date you purchased your computer. If it is different, as mine was, you must follow their procedure to get the correct date entered. I did not have to show my receipt for repairs on my IPODs, but I did for my comptuer, since the datadase was not correct, and it stated I was out of warranty. Apple care was quick to correct the error, once I faxed in my receipts.
It is my opinion that, if available, take it in to an Apple Store and have it looked over first, before calling Apple Care.

    Hi kingminjing,
Have you checked your Control Panel to make sure you don't have the flashlight turned on?
Swipe up from the bottom of the screen and make sure the flashlight icon (bottom left-hand corner) is not white. If it is, tap on it to turn it off.

I Have a ipad mini i bought my dad as a gift and he let my little brother play on it frequently (9 years old) and one day he dropped it in its case, it seemed fine till a hairline crack in the corner began to swim across the screen. It's still within the one year warranty i checked online but im not sure what apple will do for me or can do for me? Can it be replaced?

It will cost you approximately US$219.00.
Apple will replace the entire iPad; they don't repair.

  • I got my i pod touch and 2 weeks later i dropped it and the screen broke i have a 1 year warranty and people say apple fixs it for free for the first time or if you have a warranty is this true? Please help

I got a ipod touch 4th gen with a 1 year warranty and 2 weeks later i dropped it and it cracked. Can apple fix this for free? People say if you go to apple store they fix it for free for the first time. or if you have a warranty

" Can apple fix this for free? "
No.  Like any warranty on any product, damage is not covered.
"People say if you go to apple store they fix it for free for the first time"
Really.  What people say this?  Not true.

  • My ipad touch sensitivity is not working like it should. It is an ipad mini and I have had it for only 6 months. Would a repair be covered by the one year warranty?

My ipad mini has not been functioning properly as of late and it is making me worry. What could be causing this problem? Are such changes covered by the one year warranty?

If there is a hardware problem that is causing the lack of touch screen sensitivity, it would be covered by the warranty as long as the problem was not caused by accidental damage - like dropping the iPad, getting it wet, letting it get too cold, too hot ...something like that.
See if this helps. Close all of the apps in the recents tray and then reboot your iPad.
Tap the home button first. Then double tap the home button and the recents tray will appear with all of your recent apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • Photosmart 7525 shows 7520 series missing or failed printhead + HP not honoring 1 year warranty...

As you've gathered from the title there is two issues:
    1.  The Photosmart 7525 (alias:  CZ046A)  is no longer functions and says Missing or failed printhead.
    2.  HP's warranty check says warranty expired on Aug 31, 2013 even though it was bought Aug 6, 2013...
    Issue 1.
I replaced colour ink cartridges and this message appeared immediately after.
I followed HP's help guide and this did not clear the message or get printer working again.
    Details:
    The Printer's touch screen shows:
[ !]  Missing or failed printhead
The printhead appears to be missing, not detected, or incorrectly installed.
Also, the HP software that came with printer gives a popup (in WinXP SP3):
      HP Photosmart 7520 series
      (X)  Missing or Failed Printhead
      Cyan/Magenta/Yellow/Black/PhotoBlack
The printhead appears to be missing, not detected, incorrectly installed, or incompatible.
I troubleshooted following the HP online help guide (scroll down and choose 'No Code Displays')
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=ca&lc=en&docname=c01458034
The steps I took in brief (as per HP guide above).:
reseated cartridges, checked vents, turned on then unplugged printer for a minute, cleaned cartridge contacts, turned on then unplugged printer again, removed printheads and cleaned contacts
The last step the guide says is replace printhead or contact HP if still in warranty.
(as a former electronic repair person, then PC technician, now SysAdmin, I'm no stranger to following repair guides, and troubleshooting.)
    Issue 2.
I used the provided warranty check at the bottom of the aforementioned HP guide:
    http://www.hp.com/go/warrantycheck
The printer was purchased Aug 6th, 2013 and on Aug 8th I set up the printer and mailed the warranty card.
On March 6th, 2014, I entered the serial number and the other Model number  CZ046A
And HP's website indicated:  Warranty has expired  2013-08-30
So I used the "Online warranty dispute form".
Then next day an email from Sush "have updated the warranty of your HP Product".
On March 7th, 2014, I did the warranty check again
And HP's website indicated:  Warranty has expired  2013-08-31
I replied to Sush's email, nicely explaining the problem.
On March 8th, 2014, ATCHUTA RAO.V replied "have updated the warranty of your HP Product".
But there was no change and HP's website still indicates:  Warranty has expired  2013-08-31
So I used the "Online warranty dispute form" again and only received an autoreply on March 10th.
It's now the 20th, and I still get Warranty has expired  2013-08-31
It simply appears to me that HP is Not honoring their 1 year warranty on their product.
(For obvious reasons I'm not putting my serial number or ServiceTicket number online)

  • Will my 1-year warranty cover my MacBook screen that randomly broke?

I was using my MacBook and I closed it. 5 minutes later i opened it and the screen was messed up. These black bars appeared and the corner of the sceen flikers.
I just bought this mac about 3 weeks ago.
I have an appointment in the next few days.
I would just like to know if this would be covered under the 1 year warranty because I have no idea how this happened.
I treat this thing like a baby. I closed it softly and then this happens.
Can anyone please help me or tell me if this will be covered.

    jsbenitez94,
this looks like a software problem rather than a hardware problem. Make sure to point it out to the folks at the Apple store when you go there, and they should be able to get it straightened out. If you currently have data on your MacBook Pro that you wouldn’t like to lose, make sure that you have a backup of its internal disk before you go to the Apple store, in case they have to do a clean reïnstallation of OS X.

  • I called apple tech support cause my iphone 5 charger just stopped working. Aplle tech support said they can send me a new charger but why do they need credit card information if i have only had the the charger for 2 months and i have 1 year warranty?

I called apple support because my iphone 5 charger stopped working and they said they would send me a new charger but why do they need credit card information if every apple product has 1 year warranty?

    Hi CryyCorr33
Sound like they did what is called an express replacment. What apple does is they put a hold on your Credit Card for the amount of the cord because they are sending you the cord first. Then, once you receive the new cord in about 2-3 days, you'll put the defective cord in the box and ship it back out and when they receieve the defective one, they'll be able to remove that hold from you card.
I believe the reason behind the hold on your card is incase you don't return your defective one to them so they can find out the cause of the issue.
An Apple Retail Store could swap them out for you in store incase you happen to be near one. This requires no hold.
    Hope this helps

  • 1-Year Warranty cover cracked glass?

I recently dropped my cased iPod 5th Generation onto a tennis court (it fell out of my bag) and the outer glass cracked (Not too badly, it hardly takes up 1/3 of the screen, and everything is visible). I was wondering if Apple's 1-Year Warranty would cover this? I've read the Terms, but I couldn't find the right page. The iPod is 100% fully functional, and everything on screen shows as it should.
If my warranty does not cover this, are there any recommended 3rd-party companies that fix screens and what would the price be? Does Apple offer repairs? If so how much?
    Thank-you for your help!

No, accidental damage like caused by dropping is NOT covered by the standard one-year warranty.
Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for $99 for 16 GB 5G and $199 for the other 5Gs. They do not fix yours.
    Apple - iPod Repair price
You can do it at an Apple store by making an appointment:
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
or send it in to Apple. See:
    Service Answer Center - iPod
A third-party place like the following maybe less. Google for more.

Replace the screen yourself if you are up to it

  • Is 1 year warranty really 1 year?

    Hello,
I bought my MacBook Pro on June 23rd, 2007 in an Apple store in the USA. As luck would have it I noticed some problems about 1 year later. I went to the local Apple dealer in Thailand where I wanted to buya 3 year extended warranty on June 23rd, 2008. I was denied - they said the system listed me as out of warranty and there is nothing they can do.
I then called Apple sales on the same day (U.S. time) and was told the same thing. The sales rep could not even tell on what date exactly I had bought the MBP - the system listed me as "around June 23rd" and as "out of warranty". Apparently they have the exact date only when the machine was bought online.
They told me the only thing I could do is go to the store where I bought it and show my receipt. Which was, of course, impossible, since I was out of the country.
The problem that I saw that day turned out to be a bad LCD. My LCD died a week later, just out of warranty. I am having it fixed but I wonder if this is normal? Isn't a one year warranty supposed to be good for one year? Or is it 1 year minus a day?
I will buy an extended warranty next time I purchase a Mac but I can't help but feeling a bit cheated here. If you know the official warranty policy, please post here, I would like to know. I would also like to know if there's any kind of leeway, like what if my machine dies the day after the warranty expired.

I would follow sig's wise suggestion to contact Apple Customer Relations. definitely it is best not to wait until the last possible day to add on applecare . . .
About ten years ago, i had a situation where I had purchased the apple care, but neglected to activate it until it was a little late. But because the college bookstore I purchased my apple computer from acknowledged that the date I took ownership of the computer was actually after the receipt date (a letter from the store along with my receipt), I was able to get an exception). Since that time, I do not wait until the last moment to try to get applecare. . ..

  • Does the iPad air purchased in Hong Kong valid in Canada about the 1 year warranty?

Does the iPad air purchased in Hong Kong valid in Canada about the 1 year warranty?

    Hi Courcoul,
Thank you very much for your help!
Here's our situation. We are in the satellite offices, meaning in the trailers, where we have wifi set up. But they will be walking into the construction site often, but I'm not sure if they would need internet connection there...
Now I just spoke with one of the team members who arrived from Japan yesterday WITH their iPad Air, and my manager was impressed with it (hence my manager wanted to have some for his onsite staff).
According to them, they won't be needing internet connection in teh construction zone, but just computer (data input or reference), then when they return to the offices, they will connect with the WiFi.
My dilenmma is that there are TWO version sold in the US:
    1. with Built-in Wi-Fi(802.11a/b/g/n) with MIMO support
    2. with Wi-Fi+Cellure
And he does want the option to insert SIM cards when they return Japan, but doesn't want to sign up with any US carrier...
Does it make sense? Which one should they choose???
    Thank you!

  • My iphone5c is still under the 1 year warranty, the top button constantly sticks and does not work properly will Apple still replace my phone even though there is a few chips and scratches on the back?

My iphone5c is still under the 1 year warranty, the top button constantly sticks and does not work properly will Apple still replace my phone even though there is a few chips and scratches on the back?

As Peter says above, only an Apple Store genius can advise you.
But to further clarify, you seem to postulate that if Apple helps you, the cure would be a replacement.  That is not necessarily true.  Let them look at it and advise you what the remedy is.  They may offer you nothing (saying it's your fault), or they may offer you a solution (keeping your current iPhone), or possibly a replacement.
