Help a complete Java Noob out. Weird FileNotFound Exception error

Question

So yeah, I'm pretty much completely new to Java. This is probably a very easy solution. I keep getting this error.
Exception in thread "main" java.io.FileNotFoundException: C:\Users\Stephen\Desktop\numbers (The system cannot find the file specified)
     at java.io.FileInputStream.open(Native Method)
     at java.io.FileInputStream.<init>(FileInputStream.java:106)
     at java.util.Scanner.<init>(Scanner.java:636)
     at Practice.main(Practice.java:19)
I have checked to see if the file is there and it is. Any solutions?

                int eventotal = 0;
          int n = scan.nextInt();

               else               
               n = scan.nextInt();
     System.out.println(n);

The JVM isn't lying -- it can't find the file. Are you sure that you're spelling everything exactly right? Do you need to add an extension? Sometimes capitalization matters here.
If this is Windows, you might right click on the file, copy its properties and post the information here.
