HELP!!! ADF Table filters ignore space filtering

(I'm using JDeveloper Version 11.1.1.6.0)
Hello everyone!
I have the default filters to my table for users to further filter the result.
So, some of my columns contain empty records. Actually, they're not really empty, they contain a space for in the database we choose to use a space for every null value.
Then, when I try to retrieve those results on my gui table, I enter a space in my filter but I have no change, it ignores the space and prints all the values.
Any idea of what I can do to be able to get only those blank values appear?
Thanks a lot.
Life

That will be a problem. This behavior is common to all Web applications. They remove spaces before and after words or character.
What you can do is to substitute the space with another character,  e.g. '_', and whenever the user adds the substituted character you modify the query to search for space.
A sample on how to do the substitution can be found here

  • ADF Table filtering in JDev 10.1.3

    Hi,
    I wonder how to do ADF Table filtering in JDev 10.1.3. I know in JDev 11 have a query listener property but i want to know how to do this in JDev 10.1.3
    For example :
    Based on HR schema, i have a search form and table result in the same page.
    The table result will give me the result based on filtering.
    Ley say i choose radio button male, and the adf table will give me all male employee.
    Or let say i choose department IT, the adf table will give me all employee within IT deparment.
    Thanks in advance

    Update :
    All i wanna to know is how to :
    ADF table can execute 2 or more query.
    Example if i tick check box, then will run binding named query 1, if not will run binding named query 2.

  • ADF Table filter issue with OR or AND input value

    Hi all,
    adf:table filterable fields for OR or AND input value not works. Actually One of column is for State and it has "OR" value for -> OREGON State.
    and I tried using filterModel and queryListener for table attribute. But I am not getting exact clue where I need to fix for this issue. Any suggestion and help is appreciated greatly.

    Thank you.

    Something like this might work for the one case:
    public void handleQuery(QueryEvent queryEvent){
        // Replace the OR with an equivalent condition
        Map m =
          ((FilterableQueryDescriptor) (queryEvent.getDescriptor())).getFilterCriteria();
        for (Map.Entry entry: (Collection<Map.Entry>) m.entrySet())
          if (entry.getValue() != null &&
              StringUtils.equalsIgnoreCase(entry.getValue().toString(), "OR"))
            entry.setValue("O AND _R");
        // Process The Query
        ELUtils.invokeMethod("#{bindings.VOQuery.processQuery}",
                             QueryEvent.class, queryEvent);
        // Put the OR back
        for (Map.Entry entry: (Collection<Map.Entry>) m.entrySet())
          if (entry.getValue() != null &&
              StringUtils.equalsIgnoreCase(entry.getValue().toString(),
                                           "O AND _R"))
            entry.setValue("OR");
    }

  • How to manage 1Lakh of records of data in ADF table

    We have requirment on ADF table component in jdev11g.
    Currently we have to manage large amount of data (1million ) of records in database and we have to
    display arount 1lakh in jsp page using adf table with pagination and sorting .
    is it possible or good approch to use ADF table? any cautions we need to take care?
    any altrnative solution will be helpfull.
    Thanks for all help.

    ADF table does not do pagination out-of-the-box - it does scrolling, which is different.
    However, my main concern would be that no user can make sense of 100's of 1,000's of records. Even Google only gives you 1000 actual results back, and no one ever scrolls to "Page 47" of the results.

  • Has anyone tried the "Table Filters" with Numbers 3.0 (Maverick).

    I use the formula If(isblank(A5),"","Data"). the previous version of Numbers treated the "" as a blank cell and the Table Filters did not display that row if I had the "Reorginize" filter set to "Is Not Blank". The Maverick version treats the "" as text. Has anyone found a work-around for this?

    EM,
    I'd suggest that you try changing
    If(isblank(A5),"","Data")
    to
    If(isblank(A5)," ","Data")
    I changed the null string to a space character.
    When you sort, choose text is NOT a space. (Edit: I meant to say Filter, not sort)

  • Table Filters Behaviour

    Is there a definitive resource or statement regarding the behaviour of Table Filters that anyone knows of please?
    I have a number of tables in my application (some based on EO/VOs and some sql-query VOs) and following a refresh of the page (and VO query) filter criteria previously entered is retained (although Dates now appear in a different format!?) and in some tables any previously entered criteria is reset...
    Does anyone know how this filter behaviour can be explained or how its behaviour can be relied upon?
    Thanks in advance... (using JDeveloper 11.1.2.1.0)

  • Table filtering on the model node table

    hi
        i have  two table where i need to perform table filtering on the tables and both the tables are of MODEL NODE
    and in some of the posts i have seen that we cannot perform
    table filtering on the MODEL NODE table  ,  and  other thing
    i have  38 elements where i need to perform filtering on
    each and every column ,
    can any one help me with procedures for table filtering on
    two tables , one table is independent from other.

    Hi Kishore,
    Please refer to the following artice for the filter and sorting implementation:
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/f024364b-3086-2b10-b2be-c0ed7d33fe65
    Filtering works on the principle of selecting values from an existing master set. Hence, as suggested the master set can be your model node and create another value node (exact copy of the model node) to hold the values to be displayed in the table.
    Remember it is always better if the backend provides these capabilities rather than implementing filtering and sorting in front end.

    Hi,
    I have never tried filtering by equality or relational operators, but with some tinkering I think it might be possible.
    If you haven't already checked, there are some really good how-to's on customizing the ADF table filter at Oracle ADF Code Corner.

  • Help of adf:table lookup

    Hi,
    I have a requirement as below.
    For an ADF-BC view object ,I need to show the table with a search ook up on the header of the table.
    By default,when the page is first displayed, the table should be displayed without any data.
    On click of search lookup icon in the table header , a search pop up window should be displayed with search criteria[similar to query panel fields].
    On providing the search criteria in the popup and click of 'Ok' button,the popup window should be closed and the data as per the search criteria should
    be displayed in the table.
    I have done a poc in the following way.
    1.Create a Viewcriteria for the viewobject.
    2.Drag the viewobject as a table in the u.i.
    3.Provde a command button with lookup icon and provide a popup for the command button.
    4.Drag the viewcriteria as query panel.
    But this is not working as per my requirement.
    By default,when the page is displayed, the table is displaying data.[should not be in my case].
    Also,the moment I click on search button,the tabe data gets refreshed.As per the requirement,on providing criteria and clicl of 'Ok' to close the popup,
    the data should be displayed.
    Please suggest on better ways of implementing the requirement or mistakes in my poc impelementation.
    Thanks,
    Praveen

  • Ignoring spaces and non-alphanumeric characters

    I need some help with this program im working on. It's testing to see whether words are palindromes or not. The trouble is, i need to make the program ignore spaces and puncuation. Does anyone know of a command to do this, or a command where i can list all the common types of puncuation and get the program to ignore them.
    Thanks

    you can use regular expressions (regex) for this. I'm not very experienced with regex (though I admit I should become familiar with it ;)), so for more information check out Sun's regex tutorial and regular-expressions.info.
    if you're not interested in regex (or if you don't have access to a 1.4+ SDK), you can just use ASCII filtering to achieve this (see this ASCII table for basic ASCII values). Basically, you're only going to accept A-Z and 0-9 characters (if I understand your question correctly). This means the only ASCII values you want to accept is 48-57, 65-90, and 97-122. You can use a simple boolean method to check if a character is valid. Something like this should work:
    public boolean valid(char c) {
         int x = (int)c; // ascii value of c
         return ((x >= 48 && x <= 57) || (x >= 65 && x <= 90) || (x >= 97 && x <= 122));
    }Use this method on every character of the String you want to process. So to validate an entire String you can use a method like this:
    public boolean valid(String s) {
         for (int j = 0;j < s.length();j++) {
              if (!valid(s.charAt(j))) {
                   return false;
         return true;
    }Beware though that this is considerably slower than using regular expressions. Also I didn't compile this example so there might be a small mistake you'll have to fix.

    Sorry Frank i could not figure out what u rtrying to say.
    In my case i have ADF table with two predefined coulmns :
    1 : a serial number read only column
    2 : a separator coumn
    I need help to bind the newly created dynamic attribute in the VO with my newly created column in the ADF table which has a input text as child.
    My problem is binding the is not working properly as values entered in the Table are not reflected in the VO.
    And when i insert a new column in between two columns which has already filled values the data in the rows does not shift coreespondingly..

  • Adf table columnStretching issue when using with in panel splitter

    My Scenario is like this:
    I have used adf table with columnStretching to last column of table. And the table is placed at second facet of panelSplitter. On load it covers full area of second facet which is pretty good. When try to collapse panelSplitter, arround 2 pixel of horizontal scrollbar appears at bottom. Even on uncollapse the panelSplitter to original orientation, the extra space remains there which makes horizontal scrollbar with 2 pixel gap for movement at bottom of table.
    Is Anyone facing this kind of issue? And how can I solve the issue?
    Thank you for your help and responses in advance. YOur help will be very much valuable to me.

    Hi Frank,
    I am using FF, Chrome and also IE in different compatibility mode. While wrapping with panelCollection it works fine. But the menu bar section and status bar is introduced on panelCollection which I cannot use in my work.
