Help again please...don't want to muck up the whole catalog...

About a month ago, Rob Cole, DJ_Paige, JohnBeardy and Richard Plondon patiently lead me through the steps to create best practices in establishing catalog workflow with LR as I made my transition from a combo of Media Pro, Photo Mechanic and Name Mangler to Lightroom as my mainstay.
Guys, thanks again. I've taken your advice 100%. The most daring move for me was to put ALL my files in one catalog - of necessity on an external HDD - and this became the home of all my files (backed up to another external drive, of course). Once I was comfortable with this, I deleted the "current month" catalog I was also making just to be sure I could get work done (I merged this with the main (now only) catalog.
I took all the advice to do everything starting and ending in LR and it has worked fine for my laptop and imac - the catalog is saved in Dropbox and when I back it up, I do it locally on whichever machine I am using...so far so good...this all seems sensible and has worked fine for me. I would often take a bunch of pix and save them to the laptop, add them to the LR cat and then when I go home, move them to the External HDD and then when I launched LR on the desktop the HDD is connected to, I would "find" the folder location in LR.
Now as I'm getting ready to go away for 2 weeks and need to work on some of the files and print a few of them. Yikes - hadn't thought of PRINTING in this workflow before!!
I've made Smart Previews of roughly the last 6 months of work, so I will be able to edit and manipulate and even email anything, but printing is another matter. Unless I've missed something I can't print from a Smart Preview, even in a "draft" mode quality.
My short term solution was to select a range of files, hoping to have all that I want and copied them to my laptop and will open and edit (I needed PS anyhow because it will involve some compositing that needs layers for this project). Then when I get home, I can pretty easily just import the finished files to LR and I'll be fine.
My question is really how should I handle this in the future? I have 2 locations that I frequently visit and can print at and often print new shots (easy) and that sometimes leads to wanting to print other ones - probably less often than it seems because I'm thinking I can't do that any longer with the system of housing all the files on the external drive at home. Is there any solution other than going back to a 2 catalog use of LR (I was keeping roughly the trailing 12 months in a second catalog that I synced on the laptop and destop and it worked fine except that it did mean 2 catalogs).
Is there a best practice that addresses this issue?
Many thanks - this forum has been critical in making the move to LR and I'm really glad I did. I no longer need about 4 apps that I used in my workflow...

Ok so how can i just back up the newer photos to my iPhoto library on my EHD? If it overwrites the backed up library it will delete the older photos that I backed up and then deleted from my iMac HD.

Do you want to back up only your photos and not your current library? Then you will not get a backup of your albums, books, calendars, ..
A lot ofyour organizational work will not be backed up, if you only save the newer photos.
To find the new photos create a smart album:
From Photo's main menu bar: File > New > Smart album
and add a rule: Date is after .... ; enter the date of your last backup.
Then export the photos from this album to a folder on your backup drive.
File > Export > Original
But it would be much better simply to copy the iPhoto library to the external drive, after renaming the older library, so that it will not be overwritten.

You might consider to let TimeMachine do the work and keep track of changed versions.
Use Time Machine to backup the library regularly, so you always can restore a current version aand can find older photos that have been deleted, and make occisiona snapshots of the whole library on a second backup drive.

I don't really want to call police, even though I got license plate of the seller. Especially if I'm wrong, I'd feel bad. Can you buy a demo? What can I do with it? Can I call my phone company or go somewhere to verify it? I should've asked all this before I spent $400 on it :(

Check your braces for your 'if' statements. I don't think they are what you intended. You only update carmake if the car is a mercedes.
Please use more descriptive subject titles. "Help again please", "help appreciated", and "just cant work this out" could describe 99% of the threads on this forum. Maybe something like "Why is this an infinite loop?" would be useful.

Welcome to the Apple community.
Once you have created a rescue address, you cannot delete it, nor can you change it to the same address as used by your ID. There are numerous providers you can get additional email addresses from, such as Hotmail, Yahoo, Google etc etc.

You don't say whether you are on PC or Mac. For Mac there are these two programs which might help (I havn't tried either) :

There are probably similar programs for PCs, but I don't know what they are. On a PC you can hold the shift key and do File > Display Exact Duplicates (without the shift they may not be exact matches) - if one of each duplicate pair has the same date added then you can sort by that and then delete those with (or without) that date.

I just did an update on my 4s and now it wants me to restore the whole phone to factory settings. All I see on my screen is the white power cord going to itunes button. Nothing is working. HELP.

Using Migrations Assistant will only move the data and other things over, it will not bring over a previous version of the Os since the 2014 model can run anything earlier than Yosemite.

hi, the app is not "shared", it works as if you bought the app twice with different accounts, only you paid it once. they should have 2 different villages since they're on 2 different devices.

It's also possible you may have to reinstall photoshop cs5 even after installing the above java, because sometimes the upgrade to mac os x 10.10 messes up the photoshop cs5 installation.

You can try to press the ESC key to stop loading the page if you see the Stop button instead of the Reload button. You can also reload the page via F5 or Ctrl + F5 (cache bypass).
Firefox 4.0 has a combined Reload and Stop and Go button that appears at the right end of the location bar.
To restore the Firefox 3 appearance you can use these steps:
* Open the "View > Toolbars > Customize" window to move the Stop and Reload button out of the location bar.
* Move the Reload and Stop buttons to their previous position at the left side of the location bar.
* Set the order to "Reload - Stop" to get a combined "Reload/Stop" button.
* Set the order to "Stop - Reload" or separate them otherwise to get two distinct buttons.
