Help. Can't add guest user in my X60 XP system

It seems like I have tried everything to add a new user when I click "change the way users log on or off" in my User Accounts feature in Control Panel (Windows XP). First, the error message requested that I uninstall "Client Services for Netware" which I did successfully. Upon retrying, the error message became:
"A recently installed program has disabled the Welcome screen and Fast User Switching. To restore these features, you must uninstall the program. The following file name might help you identify the program that made the change: vrlogon.dll".
I then found the fix at the Lenovo site (http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-58845), but I followed this and it only addresses the fix for the T42, T42p, Z60m, Z60t devices, not my device which is the X60. I then decided to download the update for the Thinkvantage Fingerprint Software (V 5.6), but that still didn't change anything--the Lenovo fix instructions just didn't seem to go with my Thingvantage version/options. Finally, I disabled the Fingerprint Access all together and defaulted to the password only option...still nothing. Very frustrating. Can anyone help?

Hooker I am having the exact same issue with my T61p with XP Professional. There are a lot of referenceds to this vrlogon.dll, but nobody seems to have fixed the problem... or at least if they have they have never posted the solution. There is a website that claims to have a tool that fixes it, but it doesn't work... at least for me.
I think it happened right after I installed either an update I got from Lenovo via System Update 3, when I installed .NET 2.0 SP1, or there was a Bluetooth Vulnerabity Security Update that Windows told me I should get (KB951376) right after I installed .NET 2.0 SP1.
If I could find out what program uses it, I would remove that program... if nobody from Lenovo comes up with a solution I am looking for a program the traces .DLL files to figure out what uses vrlogon.dll so I can figure out what to uninstall.

Master Data Services - Can not add new User and MDS can not Identify LOCAL Users

We are using SQL Server 2008 R2 and system working since long and suddenly we observed mentioned two issues. The server MyServer is already restarted but did not help. The MDS installed and configured on SAME Machine (MyServer).
I have two issues here.
1. MDM website can not Identify the local Users (MyServer\MyUser).
The User created on local Machine (MyServer\MyUser). I logged into MDM website using Admin login and click on User and Permission. Then I click on add and Text box appears to type UserName. Here I type "MyServer\MyUser" (MyServer\MyUser is already
exists and working since long). Then click checkName; I received a message "No exact Match was found for MyServer\MyUser". Where as User from OTHER domain identified in MDM but could not identify ONLY the local users like "MyServer\MyUser".
2. Can not add new user in Existing working MDM.
I created windows user on machine (MyServer\MyUser1) and add it in UserGroup having an access to MDM. and then I tried to login to MDM using newly created user (MyServer\MyUser1) ; I see error Access Is Denied. The Permission assigned to UserGroup (not
to individual user). The new User (MyUser1) should automatically get added in MDM once logged in. This is working for existing users in UserGroup; BUT NOT ONLY for new user (MyUser1).

Now I Solved this problem in my case.
I just grant again all permissions according http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff486994.aspx. Now all work fine.

Can not add Domain User to Local Admin Group Win8.1

I am trying to add a domain user to the local admin account on a Win8.1 Enterprise computer. When I click the check name button it asks me to enter network credentials even though I am signed in to the computer with a domain admin account. When I try to
type in any of my domain admin accounts it says "The Username or Password is incorrect". Even though I used that same account to login with. I can successfully ping all 3 of my DCs from the computer and have tried putting my second DC as the primary
DNS and my third DC as the primary DC and same problem. I have checked for Active Directory errors on the DC and everything says it is running fine on the DC in server manager. I have this problem on multiple computers. Some of the computers it will work on
but 90% of them it won't allow me to add the local user to the local admin group.
DCs are running Win Server 2008 R2 Enterprise.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would suggest you to use Restricted Group(via GPO) to add domain users/group to a local admins group
1)Create a new group in Active Driectory
Create a new group in Active Driectory that you wish to add to every workstations local administrator group. DO NOT add any users to this group at this time.
2.
Create a new GPO
Create a new group policy object and link it to the desired OU. Make sure that the GPO you are using covers the OU that the WORKSTATIONS you are wanting to give users local administrative rights over.
3.
Edit the newly created GPO
Navigate within the newly created GPO to Computer Configuration -> Policies -> Windows Settings -> Security Settings --> Restricted Groups
4.
Add your new Active Directory group to the Restricted Group
Right-click the Restricted Groups folder and select "Add Group" to add your new Active Directory group to the Restricted Group. In the Group field, type the name of the newly created Active Directory group and click "OK"
5.
Add the Restricted Group to the local administrator group
In the Restricted Group Properties windows click "Add" under the section titled "This group is a member of:" Type "Administrators" (without the quotes and yes it is plural), in the Group Membership window and click "OK"
6.
Wait for GPO updates to apply to the workstations
Once your users receive their updated group policy settings every workstation within the OU you specified will have your new Active Directory group as a member of the local administrators group. If you need to force the GPO update on a specific workstation,
run "gpupdate /force" in a command window on that workstation.
7.
Add a user or group of users to the Active Directory Restricted Group
When you are ready, or in a position where you need to provide local workstation admin rights you can simply add the users or group of users to the Active Directory group that you created for use with Restricted Groups within your Active Directory Management
Console.

As I said before it is not that straight forward.If you will decompile tcViewProfileAction .class using any java decompiler you will find out that data in setAccountProfile method is not getting set through formmetadata.xml . If you are well verse with struts then only you can achieve what you are trying to do.You need to extend tcViewProfileAction class and also tcViewProfileForm class and then you need to modify tjspViewProfileTiles.jsp .It will not be easy job.Usually in implementation we do not change action class until its absolutely required as oracle also do not recommend that so now its between you and your client to make a call if they want to go for such customization.I won't recommend you do that.

i need to use a code within my PS script to add a Local user to the built-in "Users" Local Group in windows 7 , 8, 2012....
the following code which the username is not related with any variable works fine.

Prime Infra: Add guest user to all WLC's

Hi all,
I have prime infra 2 running, with 2 WLC's v7.4
1 WLC has all the AP's, the other one sits in the same mobility group in case the first one fails (it has no joind AP's when acting as standby).
When I create a guest user in Prime Infra, it only gets created on the WLC with the AP's joined.
So WLC1 has the AP's WLC2 has none -> I create a guest user and it is added to WLC1
I do a failover, WLC1 has no AP's WLC2 has all the AP's, I create a new guest user, it is added only to WLC2
Is there a way that I can add a guest user, and it adds it to the 2 WLC's?

Did you install the application in /Applications? If so, then it's available to all users on that machine and they can add it to their Dock, or you can login to each account and add it to their Dock.
When creating new accounts, the template used is the one you get when you first create an account on a new Mac, and that was specified by Apple.

How can I add a user Role member that is from a different domain

We are currently building out SCOM 2012 R2 to provide monitoring as a service to some of our customers. As of now we have the RMS on our own department's domain (Domain A) which we have full control of and we have a gateway server that is on the company
wide domain (Domain B) so that we can monitor other departments devices as the leverage this system.
Monitoring is working just fine on both domains and we are just working on fine tuning SCOM so that we can roll it out as a service we offer to our customers. One of the next steps we are working on before rolling it out is giving specific users access
to view only their own devices, dashboards, and groups. So I created a Read-Only profile and went to add a user to test it out, but that user is on Domain B and SCOM is unable to resolve this account. I'm seeing Event ID 26319 with Error Code 1332.
How can I get SCOM to discover devices on a different domain so that I can give them different permissions for accessing the Operations Console and/or Web Console? Is this possible?

The SCOM Management Server is in Domain A. I've tried it already and it has failed.
So just to clarify the method I used was to go to Administration>Security>User Roles. Then New User Role>Read-Only Operator. In the Create User Role Wizard I then gave the User Role a name, Clicked "Add" under User Role Members.
Then the Select Users or Groups window pops up and I changed the Locations from Domain A to Domain B and searched for the user, which it's able to find, then clicked "OK" to add it to the User Role members which it does just fine. On
the next page which is Group Scope I checked the one group I want this account to have access to and then click next. This brings me to Dashboards and Views where I click the radio button for "Only the dashboards and views selected in each tab are
approved" and chose the folder of dashboards I want this account to access and then click next. This brings me to the Summary and I click "Create". At this point it thinks for a moment then closes out the wizard but the new Read-Only
Operator does not appear. I then look in Event Viewer and see the Event I pasted above.
Am I doing something wrong here? Any guidance on how to get around this issue would be much appreciated.

How can I add a User Library or Instrument Library to my Project Installer?

Hello All,
I want to includ some libraries for 2014 in my distribution installer in LabVIEW 2014.
Some of these files are located in Instr.lib and others in User.lib. There may also be some in vi.lib.
I have some devices and custom VI's I have written and would like to distribute these with my executable.
Is there a way to include these libraries automatically?
As it stands now, I have to install my application then manually copy these libraries which is obtuse.
Note that one of my user libraries is a directory of VI's, not a compiled libary (at this time).

You can manually add them as dependencies to a seperate folder in the exe build spec, and then reference that relative location in your main VI when calling them.
There is always the Post-Build action too that might help.

Firstly, it's a bad idea to post your email address - it's an invitation to spam - and I've asked the Hosts to remove it.
If you give the other user your ID and password he will have full access to everything in your account just as if he was you, and his contacts and calendars will sync if enabled, and he will have full access to your email. (He will of course need Lion 10.7.2 or above, or iOS5, to use the syncing facilities). He can also access the iCloud website and read, move or delete emails, and alter settings.

Can't add any users while logged in as the ADMIN

Back in my post, http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=5314598#5314598 , I was stuck in a broken auto login, unable to get past the solid blue screen. I was able to fix that but now I can not add any new users to the accounts pane. Logged in as the ADMIN, I click on the + and nothing happens. I can not add anymore accounts. What can I do to solve this?

It is probably some residual effect from your single user mode actions detailed in your previous post.
Run *Repair Permissions* from Disk Utility to see if that is the cause.
If that doesn't fix it, try deleting the com.apple.loginwindow.plist from your admin account's Library/Preferences folder.
There is also the same file in
HD/Library/Preferences/com.apple.loginwindow.plist
but I am not sure about the consequences of deleting that, as I've never done it.
Whichever you delete, log out and log back in again to re-create them.

Can't add new users in Server Admin console in Server 10.1.4.

I've run into an issue with an older OS X Server 10.1.4 running on a G4 platform. It functions as a shared file repository and I need to add new users. However, it would appear that I've developed a problem.
When trying to add new users I get the following error:
An error occurred in the Users & Groups module in entry point "RACMMenuItemSelected".
A program error has occurred.
1004
Now, my best guess is it's a corruption somewhere. But, I don't want to go poking around the production server taking it down and up until I've got some idea where I'm going. Any suggestions on where my troubles might be? Or has anyone had this issue before, and how was it corrected? (Hopefully not by a full software reload.)
I'd like to replace/upgrade this server, but until there's money in the budget, that's just a dream, I need to try to figure out how to fix what's here.

No answer was found for this issue. I've finally removed the server from production and will likely reformat and reinstall for use in other production areas. Hopefully we'll be upgrading the OS at the same time.
