Help cloning a System (Netbook Samsung NC10) SOLVED

Hi.
I have successfully installed arch in a Samsung NC10 netbook, I have reduced the Windows Partition to 40 GB and used the rest for Arch. I have the system full configured and working.
Now I have 2 more identical Samsung NC10 to install. I have been looking ate different ways to clone the installation, one option was looking at g4u as I liked to clone full disk (including windows, etc), I have installed guu in a usb key, booted and the problem is that g4u does not detect the network interface :-(
I was thinking of using dd and ssh to dd the whole disk by ssh from a NC10 to the other
but I need a usb live system with sshd installed (any arch that satisfy this?)
I also have a third system that could use as an intermediate sshd server for storing the hd dd image
do you think this could work?
Or there is another best way to do this?
any help appreciated
Thanks

I've done that before, though it is a bit faster to use dd an netcat:

The arch live-usb is a regular Arch system.  You can install any package with pacman, including sshd.

It's not possible with Windows Phone 8.  What's the point, a call is coming in and the phone allows you to answer.

    Hi orion,
Sorry that was the impression made by the support agent. If the version of the software that you have is 3.0 or 3.2, then the catalog can be upgraded when you run the trial version of Photoshop Elements. Version 8 had no time limitations, not sure if version 9 will timeout after 30 days or not.
Just install, and when you launch, Elements will automatically convert the catalog to a format that it can read.

  • Please help me choose a netbook for running arch

I'm looking for a 10-12" netbook with a long battery life. Currently I'm considering Samsung N140, N150, N210 and NC10. I like the look of N150 but I don't know how well will it run Arch. I'm also considering MSI Wind u160, but the awful gloss of the body scares me off.
At first I was very sure I'll pick Benq u121, but the I found out that Intel GMA 500 has very poor support.
Could anyone share his experience with Arch on netbooks with nice battery life? I'm talking about battery life of 6+ hours.

  • Cloning a system drive

I'm getting ready to upgrade FCP, Quicktime and possibly even to OS10.4.9. But before I do I would like to clone my system disk so in case anything goes wrong I can swap to the backup and get back to where I started.
I'm new to the Mac, what is a good application to make the clone with? Is there a Mac utility or do I have to get qa third party application?
    Thanks

    Do this:
How to Clone Using Restore Option of Disk Utility
    1. Open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.
    2. Select the backup or destination volume from the left side list.
    3. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (journaled, if available) and click on the Erase button. This step can be skipped if the destination has already been freshly erased.
    4. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
    5. Select the backup or destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
    6. Select the startup or source volume from the left side list and drag it to the Source entry field.
    7. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
    8. Select the destination drive on the Desktop and press COMMAND-I to open the Get Info window. At the bottom in the Ownership and Permissions section be sure the box labeled "Ignore Permissions on this Volume" is unchecked. Verify the settings for Ownership and Permissions as follows: Owner=system with read/write; Group=admin with read/write; Other with read-only. If they are not correct then reset them.
For added precaution you can boot into safe mode before doing the clone.

  • Help! My System shuts down after one minute of starting the PC

    Help
I have just finished assembling my PC using the MSI PM8M3 – V motherboard with a P4 (LGA775 – 630) 3.0 GHz processor and 500w power supply. After assembling all the parts, when I start the computer within 30 or 40 seconds the computer automatically switches off. Is there any way to know what's wrong and solve it?
    Thanks

    Hi
Sorry about that since i am new to this forum and i am not sure how to create a sig line. Anyway below are the details of my power supply
    OMNI PS ATX 500w
    +3.3v - 30A
    +5v - 50A
    +12v - 25A
    -5v - 0.3A
    -12v - 0.8A
    +5VSB - 2.0A
I tried starting the computer without my hard disk, and my CD RW and using only:
    CPU
    CPU fan
    Motherboard
    2 system fans
    DDR RAM (512MB)
And it stll did not work.
When i start the PC, the system loads properly so i am able to access the BIOS but then then the system only stays on for like 30 or 40 seconds and it just goes off without making any sounds or showing and warning signals.
I tried using a diffrent 500w power supply but it still did not work!
If you need any info, please do ask and also, i'm not exactly sure on whats a D-bracket.
    Thanks

  • Need help with control system that reduces a flat output signal every time a certain input exceeds given value

I'm having difficulty setting up a closed loop control system that reduces one of my voltage outputs (connected to a high voltage system) by 30% every time a measured voltage exceeds a certain threshold value.  I'm using a USB 6229 DAQ.  I've been trying to create a waveform that looks like a DC signal, but the only waveforms that I can seem to manipulate while my VI is running are the stock waveform types.  Also, I've tried to use a formula node or conditional structure to update the output value every time the measured voltage exceeds a given value, but everything I do reinitializes the output value every time it runs or won't store the previous signal value.  I'm using LabVIEW 8.6 and don't have the PID or similar express VI's.  I've attached the mess I've got working right now.  Can anyone help?  I'm really stuck!
    Thanks!

I'm sorry it's such a mess; I'm still pretty new at this.  These are both little driver programs for a larger overall control program.
Output control is meant to send a flat signal to the DAQ whose value can be manipulated while the VI is running.  I have the second activated segment merely to check the values being output.  I didn't realize I attached a version with a meaningless control...I had a control where the user would put in the stating voltage (the high voltage source has a 1V-100V setting for external control).  I've attached this slightly different but equally dysfunctional version.  Ideally, I would have liked something like the analog signal generator vi to come with an input wiring for offset on the DC signal.  Most of the code was diabled because it is copied from an example; it is largely rubbish.  I initially used the DAQ Assistant, but when things weren't working out I switched to putting in each step manually to try to troubleshoot.
As far as HiV step down is concerned, I've tried something different with a nested case structure (if that's the right terminology?), and I've attached that file.  I think this problem has been solved, but you never know!

  • Logout crashes system when using fglrx [SOLVED]

    Hi guys,
I admit I'm a little annoyed about X related issues with Arch on my thinkpad T400, none of choice is working totally fine on it now. It has ATI HD3470 discrete card and Intel X4500 integrated card, I've tried all available dirvers: xf86-video-ati, xf86-video-radeonhd, catalyst(fglrx) and xf86-video-intel. Here are problem descriptions:
    1, Intel X4500 + xf86-video-intel
This scheme is the best working choice at present. Everything is fine, except cannot pass 3D acceleration test in Cedega. glxinfo shows direct rendering is "yes", and openGL direct rendering test in Cedega is passed. With 3D acceleration test failed, I cannot run any games in it. Glxgears shows 420FPS with Intel X4500
    2, ATI HD3470 + xf86-video-ati / xf86-video-radeonhd
Annoying! I'm not sure how well the open source driver support my card, surely they are working, but only provide very basically performance. 3D acceleration test in Cedega cannot pass either, while direct rendering is "yes" in glxinfo too! Besides this, the really annoying thing is laptop FAN is keep running with these two drivers, even CPU occupation is ZERO. Glxgears shows 370FPS with radeon or radeonhd.
    3, ATI HD3470 + catalyst
This scheme provides best performance, that 3D acceleration test in Cedega can pass, and the game plays smoothly. However, this driver has a frustrated problem: It works fine when first boot up, but if I logout, then X would crash to a black screen, and both keyboard and mouse lost response. Only press power button for 3 seconds to hardly shutdown can leave the mess. More details can refer to: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=62413
    Glxgears shows 1200FPS with fglrx.
I guess a comparison is suitable here, with fglrx+ubuntu installed on this laptop, Glxgears shows 3200FPS, and it works totally fine without logging out to black screen problem either. I'm a newbie switched from Ubuntu to Arch, I love the Arch way. But I have to say, I DO NOT like the Arch's X way.
Hope someone who has the same hardware or even the same laptop can help me. Though I don't like to configure X, I like the feeling manually solve problems. Any advice or suggestion or even criticism will be highly appreciated. My xorg.conf are attached in pastebin:

    Fatal server error:
    Caught signal 4.  Server aborting
    Reproduce problem as follows:
1, Install fglrx as driver for ATI 3470 on LAPTOP
2, Boot up and login gnome will succeed every time.
    3, Logout:
    3.1 If using GDM
Logout then it goes into a black screen, both keyboard and mouse lost response, only hard shutdown helps.
    3.2 If on runlevel 3
Logout succeeds, will back into user console. Log into normal users in other consoles succeeds. If now run startx, it will generate above quoted error: "Fatal Server Error: Caught signal 4". After this, commands such as su, ps, sudo, or as root log into other consoles will cause Segment Fault, or even Kernel panic. As these situations happen, only hard shutdown helps.
I've also tried these workarounds found with google or in other forums:
1, Edit /etc/gdm/custom.conf to set X server always restart value equal 1.
Does not help. Actually, this problem might not caused by gdm, because I boot into runlevel 3 would also have this problem.
2, Edit /boot/grub/menu.lst to add "nopat" option into kernel line
Does not help, the problem remains.
3, Build catalyst 8.11 with ABS
Does not help, with catalyst-8.11 X will boot into black screen for the first time too. I'm not sure if I build it correctly, it has a 2.6.27.patch in abs, but I'm using 2.6.28 kernel.
4, Use D-sub instead of DVI
I'm on LAPTOP, don't have a choice to change to D-sub connector, so I don't know if this help.
5, Remove .Xauthority file or edit /etc/ati/authatieventsd.sh file as https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/hardy … bug/118605 suggests
Does not help either, It might not be X authority's problem. But I'm not quite sure.
Alright, I hope these details have made myself clear, because of my poor English. Hope you guys help, thanks in advance!

  • Help need on System setup for java programming

    HELP BADLY NEEDED!
I recently installed java (jdk version8 152mb) on my HP630 win7 because i want to learn java. But when practising, after using notepad to code samples like "Hello Word" and saving it with .java format, it still cannot run on my pc.
Pls i think i need a complete and comprehensible guide on how to install and prepare my win7 laptop for java programming.
    Thanks in anticipation

    Hello,
one suggestion is to ensure your system's environment PATH has the Java installation path included, so that it knows where to look to run Java.
     (See attached pix).
1st) Find out where Java was installed to on your system: For example, on my Win7 PC, Java was installed to 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Java' directory.
However, my path to the actual binaries is 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\bin'; this is the value I added to my system PATH.
2nd) Check what your System's PATH has: You can do this by looking at the Environment Variables under System Properties:
       1) Search for Control Panel, then go to System & Security, then to System, then to 'Advanced System settings'.
       2) Click on 'Environment Variables...'
       3) Under the 'System variables' pane, use the scroll bar to find 'Path', and click on 'Edit...'.
       4) Here is where you add your Java path (as noted above): Note that I appended my java path to the existing Path text, taking care to separate the previous path with a semi-colon (';').
For example, this was my existing 'Path': "C:\Program Files\CollabNet\"...and now it looks like this 'C:\Program Files\CollabNet\;C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\bin'.
       5) Click OK, OK, OK out of all those dialogs.
Now..restart your JVM or attempt to run your Java program!.
     Good luck.

  • Help! Qmaster System Preferences Won't Open

I just performed a clean install of Final Cut Studio 2 on a brand new MacBook Pro. All of the software updates have been downloaded, etc. When I try to launch Qmaster in the System Preferences (to set multiple instances, etc.) the System Preferences immediately quits and I am presented with an error message. Despite repeated attempts to "Relaunch" I am still not able to open the Qmaster preferences. Thanks very much in advance if anybody can help me solve this problem.
    - Jordan

hi Jordan, have you tried to
    1) +repair disk permissions+ (/apps/utils/disk utility.app)?
    2) Also you may want to go in to the root file system wee you are having the issue :
    /Library/Appliction Support/Apple Qmaster
and delete|purge|erase|discard|etc any of the plist files such as ..
    QmasterApplications.plist
    contentcontroller:com.apple.qmaster.contentagent.plist
    hostperfscore.plist
    jobcontroller:com.apple.compressor.cluster.admin.plist
    jobcontroller:com.apple.qmaster.cluster.admin.plist
    qmasterservices.plist
    requestprocessor:com.apple.qmaster.contentcontroller.plist
    servicecontroller:com.apple.qmaster.executor.plist
    servicecontroller:com.apple.stomp.transcoder.stomp.plist
    servicecontroller:com.apple.stomp.transcoderx.plist
    and restart qmaster again.
It worked for me, but it was quite frustrating to have to do this.
    3) If it persists, then as many have suggested use PACIFIER.app as last resort to reinstall QMASTER.app from the FCS or SHAKE installer DVD set.

  • Help! My system crashes very often and without any apparent reason.

    Hello,
I think I have the same problem as Juju had in a previous thread.
    My sistem has the following:
      Pentium 4 2.4GHz HT (800 MHz FSB),
      MSI 865PE Neo2-LS MB,
      2 x 256MB DDR400 made by PQI,
Nvidia GEForce 4 MX440 with 64MB RAM (Only AGP 4x),
      SoundBlaster Live! 4.1 (Value)
      Windows XP Pro OS
First, I couldn't install Win XP with memory in dual channel
configuration, but only with a single memory module.
Then, with one module or both modules in single (or dual) channel, I receive a lot of Page Fault errors from DirectX applications (like Unreal 2 and NFS 6), or even from RadLight
or MediaPlayer with some xvid encoded movies. The system also reboots from time to time. The errors are not so frequent when using only one memory module, but they are
    still present.
I must say that all these applications were running with no errors on my previous system (which had the same video and sound cards, but a PIII motherboard and SDRAM).
I have tried different memory settings (even have set timings to the highest possible values - lowest performance) in BIOS but there is no change. I have also disabled HT, but still no result.
The temperature of the CPU is 45-55 degrees Celsius and the system temparature is 35-40 C.
Please, can somebody help me with this problem.
Can it be from the MB, from the memory, or from the video card ? Or even Win XP ?
    Best Regards,
    DaveJones

Features of Dual DDR memory architecture include:
Highest memory bandwidth: Dual DDR combines the power of DDR400 with two independent memory controllers, which yields a staggering 6.4GB per second of memory bandwidth¡Xtwice the memory bandwidth of other DDR400 chipsets. Increased memory bandwidth delivers better system and graphics performance, resulting in more overall productivity.
Lowest latency: Both memory controllers operate concurrently with each other to hide latencies associated with typical chipsets. For example, controller "A" reads or writes to main memory while controller "B" prepares for the next access, and vice versa. As important is the second-generation DASP (dynamic adaptive speculative preprocessor), which has been re-architected for improved performance.
Most stable and flexible memory system: End-users can now populate higher density DIMMs, up to 1GB each, to utilize the entire 3GB memory address map. This large memory map allows more applications, audio and video streams to coexist without conflict.

Sorry to disagree. CAS Latency of 2.5 or even 3 does not prevent you from running in dual channel mode. It may hinder MAT or PAT settings.
DaveJones if you scroll down to the bottom of this page, you will see a RAM compatibility table, yours does not seem to be on the list which might be the source of your problem:
