Help creating a simple browser

I've created an e-commerce application using servlets, now I'm trying to build a simple browser to view these servlets. I've made a very simple one that works for the most part, except when comes to buttons (submit type inputs) within the html, like the one below:
out.println("<TD><FORM ACTION=\"" +Orders+ "\">\n" +
"<INPUT TYPE=\"HIDDEN\" NAME=\"ItemId\"VALUE=\"" +temp.getItemId( + "\">\n" +
"<P>\n<CENTER>\n" +
"<INPUT TYPE=\"SUBMIT\" NAME=\"Operation\"VALUE=\"Delete\">\n" +
"</CENTER>\n<P>\n</FORM></TD></TR>");clicking on the button simply does nothing, what do I have to do to make the browser use these buttons correctly. Here's the code for my browser so far:
package project;
import java.awt.*;
import java.awt.event.*;
import java.net.*;
import javax.swing.*;
import javax.swing.event.*;
public class Browser extends JFrame
     public JEditorPane viewer;
     public JButton browse, search, view, checkout;
     public Browser()
     {     //create the components that make up the browser
          super("Project Browser");
          browse = new JButton("Browse stock");
          search = new JButton("Search");
          view = new JButton("View basket");
          checkout = new JButton("Proceed to checkout");
          JToolBar bar = new JToolBar();
          bar.add(browse);
          bar.add(search);
          bar.add(view);
          bar.add(checkout);
          viewer = new JEditorPane();
          viewer.setEditable(false);
          //get a container and place the components on it
          Container c = getContentPane();
          c.setLayout(new BorderLayout());
          c.add(bar, BorderLayout.NORTH);
          c.add(new JScrollPane(viewer), BorderLayout.CENTER);
          viewer.addHyperlinkListener(new LinkListener(  ));
          setSize(800, 600);
          setVisible(true);
          String s = "http://localhost:8080/tomcat-docs/Selector.html";
         open(s);
       public void open(String url)
         try     {
                URL page = new URL(url);
                viewer.setPage(page);
         catch (Exception e) {
                System.out.println("Couldn't open " +url+ ":" + e);
       class LinkListener implements HyperlinkListener
       {     public void hyperlinkUpdate(HyperlinkEvent he)
            {     HyperlinkEvent.EventType type = he.getEventType(  );
                if (type == HyperlinkEvent.EventType.ENTERED)
                  viewer.setCursor(
                 Cursor.getPredefinedCursor(Cursor.HAND_CURSOR));
                else if (type == HyperlinkEvent.EventType.EXITED)
                  viewer.setCursor(Cursor.getDefaultCursor(  ));
                else if (type == HyperlinkEvent.EventType.ACTIVATED)
                  open(he.getURL().toExternalForm(  ));
     public static void main(String[] args)
         new Browser();
}

Nothings wrong with them, its just part of a project. Just to clarify, I don't mean the buttons on the JToolBar, I know they do nothing. I mean buttons/forms within the html that the browser displays. It handles hyperlinks ok, but submit type forms don't seem to work.

  • Create the simple browser which is based on JEditorPane

    hi all!
    please help me!
    I want create the simple browser which is based on JEditorPane, but when i insert hyperlink into "my.jar", in my html page, and when i click on it, i get text only. How can i rewrite HyperLinkListener to run my program after clicking on the link?
    thanks!

    it's not that simple :)
    If you're just given a jar and no class to run, you need to save the jar in a known location and use Runtime.exec() to do java -jar "myjar.jar"
    otherwise, if you have a main class defined, you can use URLClassLoader to load the jar. Once you've done that you can run the applet / exe

  • Help creating a simple function testing conditions in 2 columns

    I want to create a simple function which tests if a value is found in one of two columns:
    If MyValue is in columnA or ColumnB then True ELSE False
    Any ideas?

    Ok, This is the deal. This has been kicking my butt all day. So here is the exact table names and view names and all the columns involved.
    The table I am inserting into only after I determine that the concatenated string is not there either "forward" or "backwards."
    RPT_DS1_ALOC_ZLOC_REVERSE_VW:
    ALOC VARCHAR2(8)                 Data looks like 'AFD32GD2'
    ZLOC VARCHAR2(8)                 Data looks like 'AFD55GDF'
    MASTER_ROUTE_NAME VARCHAR(17)      Data looks like 'AFD32GD2-AFD55GDF'
    REVERSED       VARCHAR(17)      Data looks like 'AFD55GDF-AFD32GD2'
    This view is built off another table that has only the ALOC and ZLOCsSELECT * FROM RPT_DS1_ALOC_ZLOC_REVERSE_VW WHERE ROWNUM <=5;

    AGSTGAMT-AGSTGAFL     AGSTGAMT     AGSTGAFThe idea is to insert a record into RATE_MASTER_ROUTE ONLY if it is not in there already. So since the view takes care of the reversing, all I am doing is passing in the MASTER_ROUTE_NAME and the REVERSED to see if either of them are in RATE_MASTER_ROUTE. If not, then I am INSERTING both the ALOC and ZLOC and the MASTER_ROUTE_NAME into RATE_MASTER_ROUTE. I appreciate the help so far, but I am still missing something. I have tried a number of variations. I added a dummy record to the first table that I knew was not in the second. I tried selecting it according to a similar query that was made above. But I am not communicating something correctly so this is the detail. I hope somebody can help me over this brain freeze.

  • Hi, In need of help creating a simple effect to image.

    Attached is an image which shows more or less the effect I am needing to achieve.
    http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn149/Jaybeedubya/FotoliaComp_635945_xs3N3VFLwPNTIOm1.j pg
    I created the image above by desaturating the colour image of the man and then adding a new purple layer and selecting 'vivid light' from the layer palette drop down box. In doing this the man became purple but the white area surrounding him stayed white...I then adjusted the layers on the first layer so that the white part became purple - the final result is what you see in the attached image.
    The problem is this - I need to create this effect for 15 or so images all with a specific purple pantone colour, I need to create these for print ready artwork. All the pictures (ie the man) I will be using, need to look the same kind of shade. The way I was creating these before was to adjust the bottom layer so its grey rather than white so that the white area becomes purple.
    Confusing huh, If you dont understand my question (and I dont blame you!) then all I need is to create a set of 15 images that look like the attached image (using a specific pantone) but I have no idea how the best way to do it is.
    How would you guys achieve that? Any help greatly appreciated.

    So its gonna be a two-color-job?
    Because with the extreme depths adding Black at least might be beneficial.
    You could make a Selection of a black&white-version-of-the-photographs luminance, inverse it and, in the Channels-Panels PopUp-menu, choose Add New Spot Channel for the Foreground color and select the Pantone color.
    Then Add New Spot Channel for the background-color and fill that solid black and hide the layers that contain the composite of the photograph.
    This should leave You with blank composite channels and the two Spot Channels visible.
    Indesign can handle either psd- or DCS2-files containing Spot Channels.
    The problem I perceive here is that depending on the print-process and the background color selected it might proof necessary to knock out the foreground elements if the company is very strict on their CI colors. Unfortunately simply inversing the foreground selection would probably not work as this might leave the mixed-color-areas greyish.
    Are the prints gonna be offset or silkscreen?

  • Need help creating a simple form in Dreamweaver CS3!!

    I'm trying to create a form in Dreamweaver CS3, and while I have the form built I'm confused as to how to make it actually function.  What I'm trying to do is create a form that when the visitor clicks submit, the data is emailed to me.  Can someone help me figure out how to accomplish this?
    Thanks so much!

    Ute's answer is spot on - you need a FormMail script to process the form.  Check with your host (or via the control panel) and see if they supply such a form for free.
    If not, google for "formail script' and you'll find quite a few available - all free to use.
    You just need to add a couple of lines to your html code, change a few things in the formmail script and the form will process.  Sounds complicated but most scripts come with a help file to help you get off the ground.

  • Help creating a simple line graph

    Hi
    Im very new to the Java language, yet have some background knowledge of C and C++.
    i have a problem with an application i am developing for a university assignment, the program is to simply simulate a water pressured nuclear reaction. the main JFrame holds various JLabels that show the current core temperature, electricity produced etc. But i want to add a very simplistic line graph to the same window, it is to purely show a line that updates (no axis or labels). The graph is to illustrate how much electricity was produced on the current cycle of the reactor, the user can initiate each cycle by pressing a JButton.
    i have found some info on drawing, but cannot find anything that helps.
    Any info on how to do this (its only meant to be a samllish part of the main window), any code examples or sites that have a very relevant tutorial would be appreciated.
    Sorry for the length of this, and if anyone needs any more info on this then let me know.
    thanks

  • Basic help with Flash v10 (creating a simple calculator)

    I have Adobe CS4 Pro with Flash v10.  I'm trying to create a simple, basic calculator that adds 2 numbers.  I followed the tutorial at http://layersmagazine.com/flash-design-calculator.html.  At first, I was unable to assign variables to any objects, but got that cleared up by selecting ActionScript 2.0 (was set to 3.0).  At this point, the calculator accepts the two numbers, but when I select the "add" button with the associated code as shown in the tutorial, nothing happens.  Does anyone have a suggestion as to what I might be doing wrong?  Thanks.

    This is all the code there is:
    on(release) {
    total = Number(firstnumber)+Number(secondnumber);
    There's really not an error--I just don't get any output.  I've created two 'Input Text' boxes, and on the properties tab for each I have defined the "Variable:" field as either 'Number(firstnumber)' or 'Number(secondnumber)'.  I've also created a 'Dynamic Text' box and defined the "Variable:" field as 'Number(total)'.
    Note:  the example I was following did not specify to include the 'Number()' function in the "Variable:" fields.  However, when I don't, and I run 'Test Movie', the 3 boxes are automatically filled with "_level0.firstnumber", "_level0.secondnumber" and "_level0.total".  When I type 2 numbers in to the 2 'Input Text' boxes, and then select my button that has the above code associated with it, I get "NaN" in the output ('Dynamic Text') box.
    Thanks again for your help!

  • Help creating an animated gif for a navbar!!

    Hey guys, I am very new to fireworks and dreamweave and am having a problem that is making my head spin! I have to create a simple animated .gif for a navigation bar (which will be made in dreamweaver). The navigation bar should function similar to this: http://www.eden.rutgers.edu/~baronson/ITI320/Exercise2/functionality.html. Essentially, all that is happening is I create this animated image and in dreamweaver, when I create the AP NavBar, I set the mouseover to that image. My problem is that in comparison to this website's mouseover image  ( http://www.eden.rutgers.edu/~baronson/ITI320/Exercise2/images/navi/audience_OVER.gif ) my animated gif has multiple layers and states, where as his only has one layer. I can't seem to figure out how to include both the text, and the gif image, and incorporate them under the same layer.
    A follow up question after having found how to incorporate both into the same state, would I have to lasso out each piece of my animated gif for the individual state I want to have it applied to?
    Any help/pointer to where the information can be found would be greatly appreciated. I've read through the manuals and watched many of Babbage's videos but haven't been able to figure this out. Thanks!

    Your gif doesn't need to have multiple layers, but it does need to have multiple states. To save yourself a lot of confusion, create the animated gifs first, and then export them. Create your navbar in the usual way, with simple rolloveres or swap images. Export the navbar.Rename the animated gifs with the names of the over state of the navbar images, and then delete (or mone to another folder) the over state images of the navbar. Move the renamed gif animations into the image folder of the navbar. Preview in browser. The animated gifs should have replaced the original over state of the buttons.

  • Creating a Web Browser.

    Hello,
    I'm still rather new to programming, but my question should be a rather simple one. First, I am using this tutorial to create my web browser.
    http://www.oreillynet.com/pub/a/mac/2004/01/23/webkit.html
    Now the question that I have is, how do I add these buttons to my window and make them work?

    I used to think it was a toolbar, but appears that I was mistaken.
    Thanks for you help!

    Are you talking about the "Apple", "Store", ".Mac", etc buttons across the top of the web page?
    Those buttons are not part of the browser's window, they're part of html document the browser is displaying.

    I just started with 8i Lite, but as far as I know 8i Lite does not support PL/SQL code.
    So you have to write your triggers and stored procedures in Java.

  • Can't create a "simple" group/course - and no upload

    Hi all,
    I'm quite new to this task of managing iTunesU for my institution (ICTP, www.ictp.it), and we just got admitted to the iTunesU platform since few days, so please bear with my poor experience (but I'm carefully reading the guides provided by Apple).
    Now... I've had no problem in creating/editing a few test pages/groups/courses, but I'm not able at all to create a "simple" group course, the edit menu only lead me to the two options: "smart" and "feed". And I cannot find the tool menu item to do the "Upload and Manage Files" (I guess it doesn't appear because there are no simple groups, the only ones that can accept manual uploads, am I right?).
    Just to explain better: of course I'll eventually implement a transfer script to upload our videos (I'm working on re-encoding some thousands hours of lectures...), but for now I would like to make some preliminary tests, and upload manually a few videos. What am I doing wrong?
    Is it possible that maybe our approval is still pending, and I'm not allowed to upload anything? But I can edit the site (but not publish it).
    I tried both interfaces, the iTunes.app native and the web one (the "iTunesU Public Site Management" on phobos.apple.com):
    the former is more complete but is missing upload option and "simple" group course creation, while the latter gives me only tools to edit the graphic appearance of the main page (banner, styles, etc...).
    thank you for any help, it will be appreciated very much!
    Carlo,
    Trieste (Italy)

    I think I've found the answer by myself in this thread:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2018158?threadID=2018158&tstart=0
    Unfortunately, it's not the answer I was hoping for... apparently the option to store contents in Apple's servers isn't available anymore for newcomers to iTunesU.
    Now I have to manage a way to do local storage and RSS feeds, new challenge!
    Hope this may help others,
    Carlo.

  • Can anybody help? My Safari browser keeps crashing. The whole window just turns grey.

    Can anybody help? My Safari browser keeps crashing on iMac 10.7.5. The whole window just turns grey. It started happening around the time of the new bookmarks menu upgrade recently which changed the bookmarks to be only on the side and makes it so you can see all your bookmarks while browsing.  I know I have a lot of bookmarks, so I tried hiding them, but it still happens. I ALREADY TRIED CLEARING MY HISTORY, AND THAT DID NOT HELP, AND I HAVE NO EXTENSIONS FOR THIS BROWSER.
    Does the fact that I am in Brasil have anything to do with it?
    Thank you to anyone who can help. In case no one can come up with an answer, is there an easy way to transfer my bookmarks from safari to either firefox or chrome?
    Much appreciated.

    1. This is a comment on what you should and should not do to protect yourself from malicious software ("malware") that circulates on the Internet. It does not apply to software, such as keystroke loggers, that may be installed deliberately by an intruder who has hands-on access to the victim's computer. That threat is in a different category, and there's no easy way to defend against it. If you have reason to suspect that you're the target of such an attack, you need expert help.
    If you find this comment too long or too technical, read only sections 5, 6, and 10.
    OS X now implements three layers of built-in protection specifically against malware, not counting runtime protections such as execute disable, sandboxing, system library randomization, and address space layout randomization that may also guard against other kinds of exploits.
    2. All versions of OS X since 10.6.7 have been able to detect known Mac malware in downloaded files, and to block insecure web plugins. This feature is transparent to the user, but internally Apple calls it "XProtect." The malware recognition database is automatically checked for updates once a day; however, you shouldn't rely on it, because the attackers are always at least a day ahead of the defenders.
    The following caveats apply to XProtect:
    It can be bypassed by some third-party networking software, such as BitTorrent clients and Java applets.
    It only applies to software downloaded from the network. Software installed from a CD or other media is not checked.
    As new versions of OS X are released, it's not clear whether Apple will indefinitely continue to maintain the XProtect database of older versions such as 10.6. The security of obsolete system versions may eventually be degraded. Security updates to the code of obsolete systems will stop being released at some point, and that may leave them open to other kinds of attack besides malware.
       3. Starting with OS X 10.7.5, there has been a second layer of built-in malware protection, designated "Gatekeeper" by Apple. By default, applications and Installer packages downloaded from the network will only run if they're digitally signed by a developer with a certificate issued by Apple. Software certified in this way hasn't necessarily been tested by Apple, but you can be reasonably sure that it hasn't been modified by anyone other than the developer. His identity is known to Apple, so he could be held legally responsible if he distributed malware. That may not mean much if the developer lives in a country with a weak legal system (see below.)
    Gatekeeper doesn't depend on a database of known malware. It has, however, the same limitations as XProtect, and in addition the following:
    It can easily be disabled or overridden by the user.
    A malware attacker could get control of a code-signing certificate under false pretenses, or could simply ignore the consequences of distributing codesigned malware.
    An App Store developer could find a way to bypass Apple's oversight, or the oversight could fail due to human error.
    For the reasons given above, App Store products, and other applications recognized by Gatekeeper as signed, are safer than others, but they can't be considered absolutely safe. "Sandboxed" applications may prompt for access to private data, such as your contacts, or for access to the network. Think before granting that access. OS X security is based on user input. Never click through any request for authorization without thinking.
    4. Starting with OS X 10.8.3, a third layer of protection has been added: a "Malware Removal Tool" (MRT). MRT runs automatically in the background when you update the OS. It checks for, and removes, malware that may have evaded the other protections via a Java exploit (see below.) MRT also runs when you install or update the Apple-supplied Java runtime (but not the Oracle runtime.) Like XProtect, MRT is effective against known threats, but not against unknown ones. It notifies you if it finds malware, but otherwise there's no user interface to MRT.
    5. The built-in security features of OS X reduce the risk of malware attack, but they're not absolute protection. The first and best line of defense is always going to be your own intelligence. With the possible exception of Java exploits, all known malware circulating on the Internet that affects a fully-updated installation of OS X 10.6 or later takes the form of so-called "Trojan horses," which can only have an effect if the victim is duped into running them. The threat therefore amounts to a battle of wits between you and the malware attacker. If you're smarter than he thinks you are, you'll win.
    That means, in practice, that you always stay within a safe harbor of computing practices. How do you know what is safe?
    Any website that prompts you to install a “codec,” “plug-in,” "player," "extractor," or “certificate” that comes from that same site, or an unknown one, is unsafe.
    A web operator who tells you that you have a “virus,” or that anything else is wrong with your computer, or that you have won a prize in a contest you never entered, is trying to commit a crime with you as the victim. (Some reputable websites did legitimately warn visitors who were infected with the "DNSChanger" malware. That exception to this rule no longer applies.)
    Pirated copies or "cracks" of commercial software, no matter where they come from, are unsafe.
    Software of any kind downloaded from a BitTorrent or from a Usenet binary newsgroup is unsafe.
    Software that purports to help you do something that's illegal or that infringes copyright, such as saving streamed audio or video for reuse without permission, is unsafe. All YouTube "downloaders" are outside the safe harbor, though not all are necessarily harmful.
    Software with a corporate brand, such as Adobe Flash Player, must be downloaded directly from the developer’s website. If it comes from any other source, it's unsafe. For instance, if a web page warns you that Flash is out of date, do not follow an offered link to an update. Go to the Adobe website to download it, if you need it at all.
    Even signed applications, no matter what the source, should not be trusted if they do something unexpected, such as asking for permission to access your contacts, your location, or the Internet for no obvious reason.
    "FREE WI-FI !!!" networks in public places are unsafe unless you can verify that the network is not a trap (which you probably can't.) Even then, do not download any software or transmit any private information while connected to such a network, regardless of where it seems to come from or go to.
    6. Java on the Web (not to be confused with JavaScript, to which it's not related, despite the similarity of the names) is a weak point in the security of any system. Java is, among other things, a platform for running complex applications in a web page, on the client. That was always a bad idea, and Java's developers have proven themselves incapable of implementing it without also creating a portal for malware to enter. Past Java exploits are the closest thing there has ever been to a Windows-style virus affecting OS X. Merely loading a page with malicious Java content could be harmful.
    Fortunately, client-side Java on the Web is obsolete and mostly extinct. Only a few outmoded sites still use it. Try to hasten the process of extinction by avoiding those sites, if you have a choice. Forget about playing games or other non-essential uses of Java.
    Java is not included in OS X 10.7 and later. Discrete Java installers are distributed by Apple and by Oracle (the developer of Java.) Don't use either one unless you need it. Most people don't. If Java is installed, disable it — not JavaScript — in your browsers.
    Regardless of version, experience has shown that Java on the Web can't be trusted. If you must use a Java applet for a task on a specific site, enable Java only for that site in Safari. Never enable Java for a public website that carries third-party advertising. Use it only on well-known, login-protected, secure websites without ads. In Safari 6 or later, you'll see a lock icon in the address bar with the abbreviation "https" when visiting a secure site.
    Follow the above guidelines, and you’ll be as safe from malware as you can practically be. The rest of this comment concerns what you should not do to protect yourself from malware.
    7. Never install any commercial "anti-virus" or "Internet security" products for the Mac, as they all do more harm than good, if they do any good at all. Any database of known threats is always going to be out of date. Most of the danger is from unknown threats. If you need to be able to detect Windows malware in your files, use one of the free anti-virus products in the Mac App Store — nothing else.
    Why shouldn't you use commercial "anti-virus" products?
    Their design is predicated on the nonexistent threat that malware may be injected at any time, anywhere in the file system. Malware is downloaded from the network; it doesn't materialize from nowhere.
    In order to meet that nonexistent threat, the software modifies or duplicates low-level functions of the operating system, which is a waste of resources and a common cause of instability, bugs, and poor performance.
    To recognize malware, the software depends on a database of known threats, which is always at least a day out of date. Most of the real-world danger of malware attack comes from highly targeted "zero-day" exploits that are not yet recognized.
    By modifying the operating system, the software itself may create weaknesses that could be exploited by malware attackers.
    8. An anti-malware product from the App Store, such as "ClamXav," doesn't have these drawbacks. That doesn't mean it's entirely safe. It may report email messages that have "phishing" links in the body, or Windows malware in attachments, as infected files, and offer to delete or move them. Doing so will corrupt the Mail database. The messages should be deleted from within the Mail application.
    An anti-virus app is not needed, and should not be relied upon, for protection against OS X malware. It's useful only for detecting Windows malware. Windows malware can't harm you directly (unless, of course, you use Windows.) Just don't pass it on to anyone else.
    A Windows malware attachment in email is usually easy to recognize. The file name will often be targeted at people who aren't very bright; for example:
    ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥!!!!!!!H0TBABEZ4U!!!!!!!.AVI♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.exe
    Anti-virus software may be able to tell you which particular virus or trojan it is, but do you care? In practice, there's seldom a reason to use the software unless a network administrator requires you to do it.
    The ClamXav developer won't try to "upsell" you to a paid version of the product. Other developers may do that. Don't be upsold. For one thing, you should not pay to protect Windows users from the consequences of their choice of computing platform. For another, a paid upgrade from a free app will probably have the disadvantages mentioned in section 7.
    9. It seems to be a common belief that the built-in Application Firewall acts as a barrier to infection, or prevents malware from functioning. It does neither. It blocks inbound connections to certain network services you're running, such as file sharing. It's disabled by default and you should leave it that way if you're behind a router on a private home or office network. Activate it only when you're on an untrusted network, for instance a public Wi-Fi hotspot, where you don't want to provide services. Disable any services you don't use in the Sharing preference pane. All are disabled by default.
    10. As a Mac user you don't have to live in fear that your computer is going to be infected every time you install an application, read email, or visit a web page. But neither should you have the false idea that you will always be safe, no matter what you do. The greatest harm done by security software is precisely its selling point: it makes people feel safe. They may then feel safe enough to take risks from which the software doesn't protect them. Nothing can lessen the need for safe computing practices.

  • Is There A Way To Create A Simple File/Folder Tree...

    Hi,
    Please forgive me if this has already been covered but I have searched and found no answer...
    I am trying to create a web page to run on my local network, through iweb and apache, and have got everything I need working except this. I aim to be able to access my work files (masses of word documents and power-points) through the website but I can see no obvious way of doing this through iweb (short of adding individual hyperlinks to each file). Is there a tool or process I can use to create a simple folder tree in html that I can add to my site that lists all my files and allows my to "save target as" in windows (our college techie is still devoted to windows) ?
    Thanks in advance for any help...
    KP

    If you wanted to send a video as an mms from a mobile phone, the best option for exporting would be 3G in the quicktime export menu ( File > Export and it's in the drop down list).
    Keep it short and small and you shouldn't have any probs. There are some miserly operators out there who block MMSs bigger than 100K

  • How can i create a simple netweaver portal page that shows text and images?

    Hi,
    i have a simple question or maybe it's not so simple.
    I am completly new to SAP Netweaver 2004s Portal. At the moment i'm trying to understand the struture of the whole thing. I already know how to create roles, worksets and pages and i know how to combine the different elements so a user can acces them.
    And now i want to create a simple portal page that shows text and images. Is it possible to create such a simple page with the portal content studio? What iView do i have to use?
    (I just want to create a start page with a welcome text on it.)

    Marc
    Considering that you would any ways go ahead with complex development from this simple start page I recommend create a Web dynpro Iview for your start page (include the Iview in your page).
    For putting the contents use Netweaver Developer studio to build a simple start page application and put your static text on that Iview.
    Please go through the following log after your NWDS development is over - This will make you comfortable for further challenging work.
