Help Deleting Removed Files

Whenever i move a file to another location the shortcut in my library becomes unusable (it has a "!" mark beside it). Is there any way to quickly identify these files and then delete them without having to manually go through every file to delete it from the library?

Basically, is there any fast way to check if there are any ! marks beside tracks in my library?

  • Need help deleting trace files

    Hi,
    I am new to Oracle RAC and I need to get rid of trace files since they are growing too big. I have one that is 22Gigs and I only have 60 Gigs available right now on that drive. I want to know if I can delete the file manually using the rm command.
    My trace files are in: /u01/app/oracle/diag/rdbms/.../.../trace
    The file I am concerned is called: "linux1_pz99_13299.trc" and "linux1_pz99_13299.trm"
    I am using Oracle 11.1.0.6.0 on Oracle Unbreakable Linux.
    Thanks for any help that can be provided.

    Is that really going to work?
    It is my understanding (supported by some inconclusive observations and experiments) that once a trace file grows beyond about 8 kilobytes Oracle will hang onto it in a death grip. You may delete it but Oracle will still have the file handle open and be writing to it.
    If the database is running on a Windows platform then an equivalent script will not even give the illusion of deleting the file.
    It used to be the case that switching trace file output to a different directory would cause Oracle to release the active trace files but now the trace directory is part of the ADR heirarchy so switching is a more global and more intrusive operation and could interfere with other diagnostics.
    You may have to rely on ADRCI's "purge" command unless there is a PL/SQL equivalent.
    I shall be very interested to see what others have to say.

  • Configuring Subscription Client to delete removed files

    Hi,
    I am using Site Studio Publishing Utility 10gR3. I was wondering if there is a way to configure the Subscription Client to delete files (URLs) that were removed from the content server.
    I tried adding the following line to SC's configuration file (siclone.config) under defaults tag, but it didn't work:
    <defaults>
    <ice-delivery-rule/>
    <filterset type="filter" action="added modified removed"/>
    </defaults>
    I don't think I understood this right. Any ideas?
    Thanks and best regards,

    Never mind; found the answer in this thread:
    Instant Client & Oracle Names Server
    Apparently 10g clients (including Instant Client) no longer support Names Server.

  • In idvd 6.0.1 how do I delete/remove files/folders from the media pane?

    for some reason some of the folders in my photos media pane are now empty? how do I get rid of those folders?

    iDVD is a tool for creating videoDVDs from some media (stills, video, music)
    it is NOT the Finder, which is the Mac's "app" to handle files&folders
    and it is NOT the "creator" of stills (iPhoto), videos (iMovie) or music (iTunes)

  • Help deleting a file that does not exist

    Hi,
    We are trying to delete an .html doc that Dreamweaver swears
    does not exist, but it is showing up in our site architecture.
    Sadly, it has a similar name to something we really do need, and it
    is creating all kinds of confusion. Has anyone ever encountered

    Try this method first:

  • Can I delete/remove files from my iPhone after importing into LR?

    Stoked to be able to pull photos and video from my iPhone via LR and skip iPhoto. But it didn't give me the option to 'move' the photos just to copy them. So now I have them all on my laptop but need to delete them from my iPhone to make more room. Deleting on the iPhone is a tetious one by one (checkmarking them) process. Any ideas?

    It can't be done by any LR option.  You can do it be means of a script, and Rob Cole (often posts here) has written one.  Not sure if he's made it available to others.
    This has been much discussed, and you'll find a strong polarisation between people like Rob, who think it remiss of Adobe not to include "move" as an option, and people like me that think it a dangerous feature, and shouldn't even be an option!

  • Help with removing files on internal sw RAID

    When I try to trash anything on a SW RAID I setup in Disk Utility I get "Operation could not be completed, error 1407."
    The name of the RAID is: IntSATAStr
    I've been Googling and searching for an hour with no luck.
    Thanks ... Ken

    I fixed it.
    Didn't notice that repair disk was an option in Disk Utility for the built RAID.

  • Help needed deleting corrupted file

    G'day,
    I have a corrupted file on my hard disk. It is a Vault backup file created by Aperture. Whenever I do anything with the file (e.g., try to unlock it, try to view info, try to open it), the o/s immediately tells me that I have to manually turn off the system (which is what I understand to be a kernel panic).
    I have tried to delete the file using the terminal window and by placing the file into a folder and moving the folder to trash. In all cases, I'm told to manually shut down the computer (even when I tried to empty the trash).
    It's a 30 gig file, so I'd like to be able to delete it in order to save the hard disk space. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'll reformat the drive if I have to, but I'd prefer to remove just the file.
    Thanks for your help.
    Regards,
    Doug

    Sometimes it happens that the Finder just doesn't want to empty the trash anymore and says "The operation cannot be completed because the item "" is in use.". That's a good warning if it is true, but sometimes you want to get rid of an application and this warning appears even though the only thing running is the Finder. Usually after a restart you can delete it. But that is very time consuming and even then, it is sometimes still stuck not wanting to be deleted. There is a risky command that can be used in the Terminal that will empty the trash no matter what. Risky because a simple error in the syntax could erase a lot of stuff that you want to keep.
    There is a much easier and quicker way of forcing the Finder to empty the trash no matter what! It is done in the freeware customization and maintenance application OnyX (download @ http://www.titanium.free.fr/pgs/english.html ). Once you loaded OnyX and entered your administrator password, choose "Cleaning" in the top bar. Click on the "Trash" tab. You can now choose whether you want to "Delete" or to "Securely Delete" (by overwriting) and click Execute. That's it, it will force the Finder to empty the trash even if the files are in use!

  • How can I delete a file? At the moment I delete each pic and it takes ages! I tried select all and managed to delete all my 2300 photos!!  I've got them back but I've also got back 980 which I had already deleted 1 by 1 over the past 6 months!  Help!

    Please help! How can I delete a file without deleting all my photos?  I have just managed to delete all my more than 2000 photographs by choosing' Select all' and then delete. But I thought only 'all' the photographs in the file I had open would be selected! I have got them back, but I've also got back more than 800 others that I'd deleted SINGLY over the last 6 months! HELP!

    Put a Photo in the iPhoto Trash.
    iPhoto Menu -> Empty Trash
    This removes the photo from iPhoto and the Hard Disk (in every version of iPhoto except iPhoto11)
    In iPhoto 11 the file goes to the System Trash, you need to empty that too.

  • Deleting/removing offline PDF files in the iPad Adobe Reader app

    Whenever I open a file from the Acrobat.com cloud in the iPad's Adobe Reader app, a local copy is saved which I can read even when not connected to the internet. This is intentional by Adobe, and allows me to read PDFs offline, which is great. My question is, if an offline copy of every PDF I open is saved on the iPad, it will soon run out of disk space. Is there any way that I can delete/remove a specific offline PDF in order to free up disk space? I understand that this would mean that I would not be able to read that file offline anymore until I reconnect to the Acrobat.com cloud and reopen the document from the cloud. Thanks!

    Hi,
    Thank you for reproting the issue. You are right Adobe Reader saves a local copy whenever you opens a file from Acrobat.com. But there is a limitaion to the number of files it saves locally. So whenever the number of files opened from Acrobat.com reaches that value, it removes the first file opened from acrobat.com from its local memory and so on. So there is no chance of running out of memory.
    Secondly, if you want to remove the locally saved files then you can just sign out from Acrobat.com and sign in again. In this case it will remove all the files saved locally. Then you have to download them again to view.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks,
    Ankit

    Please read this whole message before doing anything.
    This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, or by a peripheral device.
    Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
    Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output andWi-Fi on certain iMacs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
    The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

    Hello Smile_333
    The article below will assist with finding things and help increase the hard drive space for your computer. The best way is to have an external hard drive to copy things to if you do not want to delete and loose things.

  • Can't remove deleted, hidden files

    Transferred large picture folder (1.6 tbyte) to new 4 tb external thunderbolt drive (2 by 2 tb, Raid 0) on new late 2013 macbook pro running Mavericks. Deleted this file, and emptied trash, and then used Lightroom to more correctly transfer this 1.6 tb folder onto the new thunderbolt external drive.  This went smoothly.  However, although Finder only 1.6 tb folder on drive, Finder/Get Info shows 3.2 tb of space used.  About this Mac/storage shows 1.6 tb of pictures and 1.6 tb of backup.  I cannot see this backup and cannot delete it.  This drive is not a backup drive under Time Machine or for any other program.  How can I remove this hidden file from this drive?

    How did you delete that profile?
    You can use "''Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory > Open Containing folder''" to go to the current profile folder and go back one level to the Firefox folder to see all the profile folders.

    How much space is your Other using? You may be able to reduce.
    How Do I Get Rid Of The “Other” Data Stored On My iPad Or iPhone?
    http://tinyurl.com/85w6xwn
    With an iOS device, the “Other” space in iTunes is used to store things like documents, settings, caches, and a few other important items. If you sync lots of documents to apps like GoodReader, DropCopy, or anything else that reads external files, your storage use can skyrocket. With iOS 5, you can see exactly which applications are taking up the most space. Just head to Settings > General > Usage, and tap the button labeled Show All Apps. The storage section will show you the app and how much storage space it is taking up. Tap on the app name to get a description of the additional storage space being used by the app’s documents and data. You can remove the storage-hogging application and all of its data directly from this screen, or manually remove the data by opening the app. Some applications, especially those designed by Apple, will allow you to remove stored data by swiping from left to right on the item to reveal a Delete button.
