Hey everyone, I was wondering if someone could lend some advice to the following.
Basically I want to run 1 microphone into logic on a single audio track with automation and effects and on a seperate audio track have the backing track playing.
This is for live use and not recording.

I agree — this sounds so simple it's hard to know what to suggest.
1 • Record your backing Track.
2 • Arm another Track (as if you were going to record on it) for your vocals.
3 • Press Play — but don't press Record.
Your backing Track will play, & your live vocals will be heard.
P.S.: check out your monitoring options — in particular, +Software Monitoring+ & +Auto Input Monitoring.+ The manual is very helpful about these.

I don't think there is a Windows 7 driver for this model. If you just purchased this card, I suggest you take it back to store for something newer.

I need port forwarding help for xbox live. I have a WRT54G router.

I forwarded the ports but it still says I have a moderate NAT. I think I need to get a static IP address on my PC and I know how but what DNS servers do I put in. When I made my static IP the internet didn't work and I figured it was the wrong DNS servers. Do I also have to switch anything in the router settings? Like switch from DHCP to static IP? Any help would be appreciated.
PS. I know nothing about routers and will need to be told where to switch things.

in order to open the ports for the x-box , u need to assign a static ip address on the x-box itself and not the pc.....it should be anywhere in between the following range
192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.99 or
192.168.1.150 to 192.168.1.254
the dns numbers would be the one from the status page on the router ui...to access the router ui , you need to type http://192.168.1.1 .. logon using "admin" password......on the setup page , adjust the mtu settings to 1365.....under "applications and gaming" , open ports 88 and 3074 and give the ip address of the x-box...

Need help for Disaster Recovery setup and configuration

Hi Gurus.
We are planning to have disaster recovery test plan. Normally we setup our network at another site and then restore data there and then do configuration and setup to run SAP system to new network.
But this is little more time consuming. We are planning to do something which will might save our time.
We want to create one Application instance on Central instance on current production server. This instance will be "deactivated" and will not run on production server.
When we will do the disaster recovery, we will restore CI filesystem to Disaster recovery network. That time this new application instance will aslo get copied. Once this is done, we just need to go to this instance and start SAP System. This way we will save our time of configuring the new instance and then starting it.
e.g
Production host -> prdhost1
Central Instance -> /usr/sap/P01/DVEBMGS00
and it's subdirectory: data, work, log, sec
create new application instance -> /usr/sap/P01/D03
and it's subdirectory: data, work, log, sec
create new instance profile -> P01_D03_prdhost1, START_D03_prdhost1
this configuration will be created but SAP instance will not be started. It will be copied to Disaster Recovery new site and in that new network , there we can start this new application instance.
Please let me know if we can do that ? if yes, are we going to face any issue in production?
Other than mentioned above, what FileSystem we need to take care for creating new instance?
Any help will be highly appreciated.

Sorry but your scenario is a little bit confusing.
Let me guess if I understood, you want to configure a "virtual" instance to be able to use it in case of DR.
I don't advise you to do things that way. Why not use virtual hosts and virtual instances like we do when implementing instances within a cluster or metrocluster.
You must have the license from DR server installed. I you use virtual hosts all DR issues like printers, logon groups, RFC groups, etc... will be solved.
If you use virtual hosts and virtual instances all you need to do is replicate the environment into DR site, restore the system and start production.
Of course... you are using UNIX and within UNIX world all these things are much easier.
Bear in mind that if you have JAVA instances then I think this is the only recommended procedure.

Here is the instruction on how you can setup the Office 365 on your phone.
To configure an Office 365 account:
1. First select the Office Hub and swipe over to Locations.
2. Tap Office 365 and select Setup.
3. Choose a new Outlook account.
4. Fill in the account credentials (Office 365 email address and password).
5. Once your email set up is complete, press Finish. Then the SharePoint site is automatically added to the locations panel.
6. Tap Team site, fill in a separate authentication to access your company SharePoint.

Help For Playing Live

My band when recording used many of the garageband effects over our live instruments. When we play live shows we dont want to have one person at a computer changing our effects manually where something could go wrong. Is there anyway to export those midi files so we could put them in some type of hardware like the digitech guitar workstation for example so we (the instrument player) can do it ourselves?

Documents/Commentry Help for Go-Live please......!!!!

I am using documents functionality for commentry in the web.
In BPS0 all is well - I can create, copy, delete documents - for my layout. But in the web, although I can create the documents, the delete and copy functions created in BPS0 do not work (and this IS the same layout, but simply viewed through the web front end).
Strangely, if I go to RSA1 and to the documents area, when I view the characteristic selections of a document created in the web versus one created in BPS0 - THEY HAVE DIFF SELECTIONS.....(even though it is the same layout).
The web document is not assigning 0AMOUNT or 0VERSION to each document.....even though these items are hard-coded into the columns of my layout....???????
Anyone out there had this type of problem before?

I have to do it but I will start with this issue in two weeks aprox. I will tell you then, or perhaps I will ask you then.
Be careful with the copy of documents, because if you copy twice (for example) the document will be copied twice, so you will obtain in the destination two documents with the same content. That's just an issue that I found last year, but if you execute the copy only once you will not have any problem.

Noob needs help with Logic and Motu live setup.

Hello everyone,
I'm a noob / semi noob who could use some help with a live setup using 2 MOTU 896HD's and Logic on a Mac.
Here's the scenario:
I teach an outdoor marching percussion section (a drumline and a front ensemble of marimbas and vibes). We have an amazing setup of live sound to amplify and enhance the mallet percussion. There is a yamaha PA system with 2 subs and 2 mains which are routed through a rack unit that processes the overall PA balance. I'm pretty sure that the unit is supposed to avoid feedback and do an overall cross-over EQ of the sound. Other then that unit, we have 2 motu896hd units which are routed via fire-wire. I also have a coax cable routing the output of the secondary box to the input of the primary box (digital i/o which converts to ADAT in (i think?)..?
Here's the confusion:
There are more then 8 inputs being used from the ensemble itself, so I need the 16 available inputs to be available in Logic. I was lead to believe that the 2nd motu unit would have to be sent digitally to the 1st motu unit via coax digital i/o. Once in Logic, however, I cannot find the signal or any input at all past the 8th input (of the 1st unit).
Here's the goal:
All of my performers and inputs routed via firewire into a Mac Mini running OSX and Logic pro.
I want to be able to use MainStage and run different patches of effects / virt. instruments for a midi controller keyboard / etc.
I want to be able to EQ and balance the ensemble via Logic.
Here's another question:
How much latency will I be dealing with? Would a mac mini with 4gb of ram be able to handle this load? With percussion, I obviously want the sound as latency free as possible. I also, however, want the flexibility of sound enhancement / modification that comes with Logic and the motu896hd units.
Any help would be REALLY appreciated. I need the routing assistance along with some direction as to whether or not this will work for this type of application. I'm pretty certain it does, as I have spoken with some other teachers in similar venues and they have been doing similar things using mac mini's / logic / mainstage / etc.

You'll definitely want to read the manual to make sure the 896HDs are connected together properly. ADAT is a little tricky, it's not just a matter of cabling them together. Go to motunation.com if you need more guidance on connecting multiple devices. Beyond that initial hookup, here are a couple of quick suggestions:
1. Open CueMix and see if both devices are reported there. If not, your connections aren't correct. Be sure to select 44.1kHz as your sample rate, otherwise you are reducing the number of additional channels. For instance at 88.2kHz you would get half the additional channels via ADAT.
2. You may need to create an aggregate device for the MacBook to recognize more than the first 896HD. Lots of help on this forum for how to do that. Again, first make sure you have the 896HDs connected together properly.
3. As for latency with Mainstage on the Mini, no way to know until you try it. Generally MOTU is fantastic for low latency work but Mainstage is a question mark for a lot of users right now. If the Mini can't cut the mustard, you have a great excuse to upgrade to a MacBook Pro.

Help with project/folder setup for new flex project??

Hello all,
I need help deciding how to set up my projects for a new flex application we're developing.
We have an in-house custom java/jsp "framework". This framework has JSP pages for administering applications that are built using this framework. One part of the framework generates all java base and model objects from our database tables to be used in the new application.
The new application will have a back-office part (Adobe AIR) and a web facing part (Adobe Flex). Both the AIR and Flex parts of the application need to access the java model objects via AS3 classes (I believe I'll do this using remoteobject).
My questions are as follows:
After I create the base and model AS3 classes that remoteobject with the java classes can I put these in a common library project so both my AIR and Flex app can access common AS3 code. I feel I should do this to keep from duplicating code by copying the AS3 classes in both my AIR and Flex projects. Can you give my any examples or links to information on how to do this??
I plan to also create a common java project for all base and model objects generated from my db tables so that the common library project with AS3 classes could remoteobject interface with the java classes in the java project. I would like to keep all of my business logic in the java model classes. Does this seem appropriate for the projects/setup listed above?
Here are the projects I think I need in Flex Builder.

AIRBackOfficeApp
JavaApp - Common
AS3FlexLibraryApp - Common
The FlexWebApp and AIRBackOfficeApp will reference the AS3FlexLibraryApp and the AS3FlexLibraryApp will remoteobject to the java classes in JavaApp.

Help with ios LDAP setup for VPN access

I am trying to move Microsoft LDAP for my vpn setup to an ISR router with 15.1 code . It has support but very little doccumentation. Anyone configured this before? i need some help or basic config.

Ldap authentication started from 7.1 if I recall correctly along with LDAP mapping which helps you validate whether the user has the dial in attribute on or of. I would say starting from 7.1 till the latest 8.X version.
Version 6.X does not have this feature.

Is a preamp necessary for performing live?

I've never used a preamp. I have an Apogee Duet, Logic and a mic. I can record awesome vocals with this basic setup. I'm starting to rehearse and perform live. Will the Apogee Duet be sufficient for my live needs? Also, I run an electric guitar and electric bass through my computer as well (through Logic's amp simulators etc...). I don't use amps for this. Is that gonna be okay too?

There are already very nice preamps in your Duet. If you are happy with your recorded sounds for vocal and guitar/bass, you are great for live. Some guitars and bass do benefit from a preamp (a tube preamp is nice for adding some warmth, for example), but this is not "must". If you have a weak signal from an instrument, a preamp will help boost that before going to your interface.
The main limitation of the Duet will be the number of inputs (just a mic and a guitar, for example, unless you use a premixers before an input(s)), and the number of outputs. To move beyond that and get more flexibility, I suggest a MOTU Ultralite (many inputs and outputs, plus built in hardware reverb, compression, and eq).
The amp sims in MainStage/Logic sound great for live performance, although they do eat up some CPU and memory. Play around with using Pedalboard followed by Amp Designer in your guitar and/or bass channel strip. Experiment with the settings (start with presets and tweak). Again, trust your ears! Keep working on your sound until you get it where you really like it ..... then your audience will love it.

In moving from XP to Windows 7, I opted for Thunderbird as email client in order to bypass Microsoft's hyper-intrusive Windows Live Mail (I used Outlook Express for years).
I have a very complicated email structure, and it's taken me weeks (seriously) to learn how to replicate it in TBird. Now I'm trying to customize TBird further, but none of the TBird articles/forum Q&A's/Google searches address my questions.
There is no live tech support for TBird, and I'm just about ready to leave it for good. However -- one last effort: where can I find detailed, systematic HELP for advanced topics relating to Thunderbird?

I am no expert, but I don't know of any authoritative reference as to what elements of HTML and CSS are supported in Thunderbird. However, as I believe you appreciate, it's more than just what Thunderbird supports, but one must also think about what is likely to work in other email clients. Keep it simple. Avoid ancient deprecated tags that other email clients may not support, and for similar reasons, avoid cutting edge technology. Remember that recipients using tablets or smartphones won't appreciate large fancy email documents.
The only thing ''guaranteed'' to work in email is plain text. ;-)
If you haven't already discovered it, the Stationery add-on is designed specifically to support OE stationery in Thunderbird. Your existing stationery may "just work" in this add-on. It makes switching between various stationery templates much easier, but I'm not confident that it will affect interpretation of your CSS or HTML coding.
Your code is at least clean and minimal. Most times my involvement with troublesome templates and signatures centres on the horrible bloat and mso custom code generated by Word or Outlook.
Having said that, you and I are mortal enemies, as I don't have much patience with what you aspire to achieve. I specifically don't like background images, nor being obliged to suffer other folks' bizarre choice of typefaces and colours (but your simple 12pt black Tahoma is quite inoffensive. ;-) ) I'm of an age where my tolerance and eyesight are easily offended.
Nonetheless, I'm intrigued by how to parse the tag for the background image, as it doesn't look like a legitimate pathname to a graphics file. Does the background image actually appear as required?

And will new account that i set up on iPhone give me 5gb storage? I assume its not as easy it sounds, it never is!
It is the camera roll on both devices that are using the storage up, and I know I can transfer the photos to a hard copy, which I will but if I can get 5gb from two separate iCloud accounts then that's the route I will take!

Welcome to the Apple Community.
I assume that the same account is required on both devices (it would be rather awkward otherwise) and that most of your space is consumed by back up.
You will need to buy more storage or back up to iTunes instead of iCloud.
Being able to back up to the cloud can be very useful, especially if you don't have access to a computer or have infrequent access to one, however unless you specifically need to use iCloud for back up, you will find backing up to iTunes significantly more convenient and possibly more reliable.
