Help ! - formatting page heading pass end of document

Hi,
Does anybody has similar experience ?
i have a document to create with rep6i
which requires inserting a label box at the top of the last page.
it is not possible to set a particuler header item to print 'ONLY' at the ending page.
Somehow the report seems not allowing dynamic format changes pass beg. of report.
James.

Hi James,
It is sometimes tough to see to it that you anchor it "exactly" to the repeating frame. I tried it myself and could only do it after a few attempts. What happens is, if your repeating frame shares its boundary with another frame/field etc, sometimes it becomes difficult for the Reports Builder to find out which frame / repeating frame is the anchor tied to.
Pl try this once:
Separate your repating frame from all other frames/fields etc, such that its boundary (where you are going to place the anchor) is not touching the boundary of any other frame/field. Do the same for the label box as well. Only then place the anchor between the label box and the repeating frame.
You should now see the correct result. Hope that helps.
Navneet.

  • Help!  Pages 09 save as Word document then footnotes gone

    My book manuscript is due to the publishers TOMORROW and I'm converting my Pages chapters into Word chapters so that the evil PC universe can read them. In the conversion of one of my chapters, my footnotes are missing from the last half of the document. The footnote place numbers remain in the text, but there is no footnote information at the bottom of the page. But it is only doing this for half of the document.
    Any suggestions for how to make this work? I'm desperate and freaking out just a bit.
    Thanks!

    I don't know whether this will help, but it might give a pointer or two. When submitting a manuscript to a publisher as an email attachment, I have to convert it from Pages to Word first and this throws up an anomaly. It seems that Pages and Word have different ideas of what double-spaced 12-point actually means. My template is set up to deliver 25 lines per page in Pages, but when converted to Word, there are 26. To make the documents match, I have to reset Word's bottom margin to 3.5 cm from Pages' 2.54. That forces the last line onto the next page and the two files match exactly.
    I don't know whether that explains where your footnotes are disappearing to, but it might be worth investigating.

  • Index generation pushing master page first to end of document

    Hi.
    I've created templates in Frame 10 for a book that include TOC, index, and chapters. When I generate my book, the index generates, but it pushes my master page with the header to the end of the index instead of starting the index on the first master page. Does that make sense? Is there a tweak I can do or a step I left out that will keep the first master page at the front of the index?
    Thanks.

    FWIW, I've grown accustomed to having to apply a First page manually in various situations; most often when I split a file into two, but also (I think) at least the first time I generate a ToC or LoF page. Completely off the top of my head, do you have any non-generated content (such as a title "Index") at the start of your generated index? considering the behaviour I'm used to from my ToC, this might be enough to "fix" your master page choice.

  • Export to MS Word: Page Header section placement

    Hi,
    I am somewhat new to Crystal Reports but I was hoping that someone here might be able to point me in the right direction. The problem I am having is when I export my report as "MS Word - Editable" my Page Header section ends up showing up before my Report Header section in the resulting rtf file.
    More specifically, in the original report I am using the Page Header section to display the column names and the Report Header section to display the report title, etc. Thus my report format is as such:
    Page 1
    [Report Title]
    [Column Names]
    [row1]
    [row2]
    Page 2
    [Column Names]
    [row1]
    [row2]
    Once I export the report to an rtf file the format is changed to:
    Page 1
    [Column Names]
    [Report Title]
    [row1]
    [row2]
    Page 2
    [Column Names]
    [row1]
    [row2]
    Is there any way I can change the rtf export to match what the original report shows i.e. the column names displaying after the Report Title? Do I need to put the column names in a different section? Thanks very much in advance for any help.
    Tom

  • Format Pages document

    I don't find Pages very intuitive.
    I want to format a document with a title page, including a couple of images in media placeholders, followed by a series of identically formatted pages of text with images, also in placeholders.
    I've already started the document and have several pages that I wish to format retrospectively. The title page is done but I want to be able to format and repeat copies of the subsequent pages. I've tried the Help section and have made no progress. I tried Sections; I can insert a blank page but don't want to have to reformat every individual page as I go along.
    How to I set up a template of a single formatted page that I can copy as needed?
    Also, I can't easily select sizes for media placeholders. When I drag the image corners the size changes but it's very sensitive to mouse movements and difficult to match all images to the same size. How can I reliably set the size of all the image placeholders?
    Thanks for any help.
    Mike

    And another thing. I've tried inserting a Blank Page from Sections and it adds it to the end of the document, rather than at the insertion point. With the individual pages visible at the left of the screen I've tried dragging the Blank page to where I'd like it to go, as you would with a Word or Powerpoint page but it refuses to go.
    I've really tried to use Pages over the last couple of years but I usually end up leaving it in frustration and going back to Works. It's just so counter-intuitive, which is the opposite of what Macs should be about.

  • Text flow to additional pages at end of document, how to set up in InDesign CS5

    I've added additional pages to a document in InDesign CS5 -- but how do I set up my document so when text is supposed to get pushed to the additional pages the text flows from page to page on these extra added pages? Right now I've added additional pages to the end of my document and when the text from the original document gets pushed past the end it disappears and not continued on the additional pages.
    Thanks,

    Yeah, container may not be the best word to describe a book, which is why I put it in quotes, and I certainly didn't mean to imply that you can no longer open and edit the files outside the book. Doing that, however, means next time you open the book ID will complain and ask you to update things. No big deal, but if you open through the book panel it will save the changes through the book and that won't happen. No difference to the inidividual files.
    Historically - as in *roff and other UNIX-based processing programs like xroff, nroff, etc - books that were published from multiple individual component files, were produced by the use of a "makefile." You'd need to create the makefile by typing the names of the component files in the book order, along withtheir specifications, such as starting page side, starting page number, etc. You'd save the makefile with a name to preserve all this information, then you'd run the "make" command-line command in which you'd name the makefile, and include arguments such as which printer, how many copies, even a job priority, to avoid unnecessarily hogging the network bandwidth and free the printer for higher-priority jobs. As GUI capable hardware and software progressed, command-line makefiles became GUI book files - still, basically lists of component files and processing instructions.
    One important value of book files that don't contain component files is that different book files can control the processing of the same component files in different ways, as well as produce books that use some of the same files and some different files - for different audiences, different product sets, etc. Yes, opening a book file may warn that component files have changed - a good warning to the user to pay attention - and they offer a way to update the collection of component files so that the book file produces the desired result. Here's where some folks may be surprised when they find that sometimes a print or export dialog box, either retains or forgets the settings used for the previous run; the result may be printing multiple copies instead of one, printing to a different printer than expected, or exporting a PDF that's not suitable for the desired printer.
    The short story is that while book processing lists that are separate from the component files offer flexibility and reusability, but they also require that the user pays attention.
    Did I commingle Autoflow and Smart Text Reflow in some way? I didn't think so.
    Not at all. I'm just extra-sensitive to my own experiences with not having taking pains to keep clear on the differences between these similar-sounding terms.
    My point was that HOW your text was put into the file to begin with, coupled with how your settings for STR are configured, is going to control whether subsequent editing triggers reflow. It's possible to have STR enabled and not have it work because you've limited it to master text frames and you haven't actually used any. An understanding of how autoflow works when placing text is important to being able to troubleshoot why STR is not behaving as expected (not to mention why text frames may not be adjusting if you edit the master page).
    One reason for the confusions that come from working with Smart Text Reflow is that there's no indication in the UI, that STR is enabled, and when it's enabled, there's no indication in the UI of which STR settings are in effect, except by seeing the behavior. Are pages added at the end or story, section, or document? You may see them added in the Pages panel, if it's open, on screen, and if the appropriate portion of the document is in view; you may see them added on screen if the appropriate portion of the document is on screen - the end of story, section, or document.
    In InDesign's Help, Smart Text Reflow is covered in only a few paragraphs. As you noted, there's much more to it.

    AP,
    As Fruhulda notes, a Section Break is an Inline character that will move all text below it to the next page. With a combination of graphics and text, and with the graphics having the property of Object Causes Wrap turned on, you will get these apparently odd behaviors. This is why I often favor the Page Layout mode myself. As many experienced users will say, you can do anything in a WP doc that you can do in a PL doc, but in my opinion the WP features often get in the way of simple operation when graphics are involved.
    Glad you are on track now.

    Using Pages, how do I include occasional "landscape"-formatted pages (for large tables) into a long "portrait"-formatted document?

    It can't be done in  Pages, hence you don't find the solution in Pages help!
    You can rotate the table on the page instead. Press Cmd and drag the right lower corner 90 degrees

  • Blank Page at the end of generated PDF Document

    Hi,
    my problem is that ADS is generating a blank page at the end of my report.
    I fill the ADS with a template and an XML stream.
    The XML stream contains multiple orders. Each order has several detail data. It is a requirement that every order object has to appear at a new page.
    XML structure:
    - Order
    -- Group1
    --- fields of Group1
    -- Group2
    --- Fields of Group2
    My template looks like this:
    - body page subform: Order  (Default binding: $record.Order[*]; Repeat Subform for Each Data Item: yes; After: Go To Next Page)
    -- subform1
    --- fields of subform1
    -- subform2
    --- fields of subform2
    Because of the "Go To Next Page" at the Order subform a new page is rendered each time an order ends. This leads to the blank page after the last order is processed.
    Does anyone know how I can suppress the blank page at the end of the document?

    You may use a forum for xsl fo.

  • Help with page numbering.

    Hello. I've searched HIGH and LOW for answers on this. I've gone through the KB documents and the User's manual and NOTHING is helping with my challenge.
    I'm writing a manuscript. I need PAGE 1 to start several pages into the document and automatically repeat in a header on each page. How do I accomplish that? I've tried with Inspector but the minute I click into the header it "grays-out" the inspector control for pagination.
    I also have numerous SEPARATE Pages documents (chapters) that I want to recognize the numbering from the chapter before. How do I accomplish that?
    I'm very frustrated, and you would truly be a hero to me by helping answer my questions. Thanks so much, Dan

    You need to break the document into sections in the +Inspector > Layout (2nd tab) > Section+.
    The First section would be your preface possibly counting in roman numerals.
    The second section would start your count at page 1.
    To edit the header if it is not selectable go +Menu > Format > Advanced > Make Master Objects Selectable+
    Click into the header then go +Menu > Insert > Page Number+
    To control the numbering go +Inspector > Layout (2nd tab) > Section > Start at+
    If you can't insert into a Header it may be because it is has been locked or grouped
    Both of these can be undone in +Menu > Arrange > Unlock or Ungroup+
    You will have to set the starting number in separate documents manually. Remember right hand pages are always odd, if need be add a blank page at the end of a previous document.

  • How to make shapes appear behind page header/footer in Pages '09

    In a Pages (v4.0.2) page layout document, I'm trying to make a gradient as the page background. Since there's no built-in way to do this (as far as my googling shows), I've tried what others have suggested:
    1. Create a new shape and resize it so it fills the entire page
    2. Go to Arrange > Send to Back
    3. There's no step three!
    This work great for most of the page. However, the page header and footer are always hidden by the shape, and I can't find a way to get them to lay +in front+ of the shape. How can I get the background shape behind the header & footer?
    Thanks for your help,
    Mike

    As far as I know you don't need to send the shape to the back.
    Choose in the menu Format > Advanced > Move Object to Section Master
    Are you sure that we may do that with a shape?

  • Implementing multiple page size requirement - extra blank page at the end

    My XMLP report requirement is as follows.
    - The report is printing a bunch of lines.
    - Based on data and layout requirement, lines are grouped into page where they belong (due to complex logic for determining which page a line should go to...this is done in PL/SQL package that is called in the beginning of the RDF trigger)
    - The first page needs to be printed on Legal size paper
    - Subsequent pages (IF NEEDED) need to be printed on Letter size paper
    So some report will have a 1-page output (legal size), and some will have multiple pages (1st page should be legal size, subsequent on letter size).
    Here is a sample XML data:
    <REPORT>
    <LIST_G_PAGE_NUMBER>
    <G_PAGE_NUMBER>
    <PAGE_NUMBER>1</PAGE_NUMBER>
    <LIST_G_LINE>
         <G_LINE>...</G_LINE>
         <G_LINE>...</G_LINE>
    </LIST_G_LINE>
    </G_PAGE_NUMBER>
    <G_PAGE_NUMBER>
    <PAGE_NUMBER>2</PAGE_NUMBER>
    <LIST_G_LINE>
         <G_LINE>...</G_LINE>
         <G_LINE>...</G_LINE>
    </LIST_G_LINE>
    </G_PAGE_NUMBER>
    <G_PAGE_NUMBER>
    <PAGE_NUMBER>3</PAGE_NUMBER>
    <LIST_G_LINE>
         <G_LINE>...</G_LINE>
         <G_LINE>...</G_LINE>
    </LIST_G_LINE>
    </G_PAGE_NUMBER>
    </LIST_G_PAGE_NUMBER>
    </REPORT>
    For this, I created 2-pages RTF template and using the Word Page Setup feature:
    1. First page setup is legal size (go to Page Setup, Paper tab, choose Letter and choose Apply to "Whole Document").
    The first page has the following XMLP tag:
    <?for-each: G_PAGE_NUMBER?>
    <?if: PAGE_NUMBER=1?><?call:body?><?end if?>
    <?end for-each?>
    <?template:body?>
    for-each loop that prints lines in a tabular format
    <?end template?>
    2. Second page setup is letter size (go to Page Setup, Paper, choose Letter and choose Apply to "This point forward").
    <?for-each: G_PAGE_NUMBER?>
    <?if: PAGE_NUMBER>1?><?call:body?><-- Ctrl-Break to insert a page break here --> <?end if?>
    <?end for-each?>
    It almost worked, except there is a blank page printed at the end. How do I remove the blank page? I have tried to use <?split-by-page-break:?> instead of the Ctrl-Break, but it did not seem to work (there is no page break happening at all).
    I think the extra page is due to the multiple page nature of the RTF template. Is there a way to control the page size through XMLP tag (or XSL-FO). With that, I can try having a single page template and put the page size control within the XMLP / XSL-FO tag and hope that the extra blank page at the end will go away. Can someone please help?
    Thank you!

    Sorry for the typo in my previous post... I meant Ctrl-Enter (not Ctrl-Break).
