HELP!! GNU libc 2.0.7 on Slackware Linux??

Dear all,
I've tried to installed the ORacle server 8.0.5 on the latest
Slackware Linux 3.6. The installation fails with an operating
system error (I get some segmentation faults when I debug the
listener with gnu gdb).
I suppose that I need the GNU libc 2.0.7. Currently my system
has the following libc libraries:
/lib/libc.2.0.4.so
/lib/libc.2.0.5.so
/lib/libc.2.0.6.so
But there is no libc.2.0.7.so. I have tried to locate and
download the laster libc version 2.0.7, but I cannot find it
anywhere! The latest version I managed to locate is the
glibc 2.0.6. What can I do about??

Well, if u don't wanna make all that stuff about glib and if u
have your slack as it came (if you need oracle running fast
reinstall slack 3.6 and do this steps), just get the libs to
relink
executables (it asks for libnsl and other stuff) then await to
end the installation. then copy all original executables from
cd. it's ugly but if you don't wanna lost time with linux but
with oracle it's the quickest way that i've found.

  • Setup help: Airport Extreme+Dialup+Switch+G4 Tower+PowerBook+Linux

    I'd like some help setting up my home network with the Airport Express station. I have:
    - A dialup connection via an ISP to the Internet. This is not a dedicated phone line; it is shared with my home telephone.
    - An Airport Extreme base station. I currently have this connected to the phone jack and configured to call my ISP and connect. I have a cable from the LAN port of this station to an ethernet switch.
    - An ethernet switch, into which all my ethernet-connected devices plug.
    - A G4 PowerMac tower, running OS 10.3.9. This does not have an Airport card. It is connected to the switch via an ethernet cable.
    - A new PowerBook. This has an Airport card, and I usually connect to both my LAN and the Internet via that.
    - A PC running Fedora Core 3, with an ethernet card connected to the switch.
    I'd like to know how to configure things to get them to work together the way I'd like. The "Designing Airport Networks" document doesn't go into enough detail about all the options available on the Airport Admin Utility. I would like to have the Airport base station dial my ISP, but only when I want it to, and disconnect when I want it to - the way I did on my G4 when it was connected directly via its modem. I'd also like the connection to be available (and controllable, if possible) to all computers connected to my local LAN via the switch. I do not have any of my computers set up to do DNS or DHCP serving, but I did set up the Mac computers to get their IP addresses from DHCP. Seems to be working, for them at least, but I notice that I have to use the single IP address via NAT: if I try to change that to use a range of addresses, I am warned that to do that I will have to assign a static address to the base station. That's fine, except: the base station needs to get a dynamic address via DHCP from the ISP when it dials in, so I'm not sure how to make the distinction; if it even needs to be made.
    I hope I've been clear about what I want to do here. What can you tell me?

    A few points:
    1. you referred to an "Airport Express station" in your opening sentence. This is of course a typo - you only have an Airport Extreme Base Station, correct?
    2. for your setup, you must have "Distribute IP addresses" and "Share a single IP address using DHCP and NAT" enabled. There is no reason for you to mess with those settings.
    3. to manually force the Airport Extreme Base Station to dial up (or hang up) an internet connection, you need to use the Java-based utility provided at:
    http://edge.cs.drexel.edu/GICL/people/sevy/airport/index.html#Hangup
    Versions of that utility are available for both the MacOS and Windows. For Windows you also need to install Java available at:
    http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
    For Linux - you're on your own to compile the source code provided with this utility. Hopefully your knowledge of Linux extends to being able to know how to do that.

    OK, I have tested about all I care to at this point.  I have a g3 connection on Linux using the Pantech UML290 from Verizon.
    Open SuSE 11.3
    Kernel Linux 2.6.34.7-0.7 desktop
    Gnome 2.30.0  (using LXDE)
    QInternet for connections
    Modem installed as /dev/ttyACM0
    Tone Dial, Speaker Off, Detect Tone Dial Off
    Details (default settings)
      Buad Rate - 480000000
      Init 1 - ATZ
      Init 2 - AT Q0 V1 E1 S0=0 & C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0
    Enable Device Control Via Qinternet
    Provider information:
       Name: vzw4g #777
       Phone Number: #777
       User Name: [email protected]
       Password: vzw
    Manual (defaults for all of the rest of the settings)
     #777 provided the quickest (almost instant) connection to the carrier.  *99# & *99***3# also worked, but after a 60 second or longer wait.
    The primary reason for the successful 3g connection seems to be the use of the Pantech Tool posted by Toughbook (linked here) at the Verizon forum.  This process is all done under windows.  Be advised, if you have the tool "read" your device, you must write, even if you made no changes.  If you don't it won't work under the VZAccess Manager.
      The default settings (AT+CGDCONT?) on your UML290 should be:

      It seems that the modem might connect directly under SuSE Linux without any complications using the modem configurations and provider information above.  I am in a 3g area right now (4g is support to be here this summer) and when I try to connect with the unit straight out of the box, everything connected, but it found no carrier.  I'll know more once 4g is in our area.  There were a couple of other posts mentioning a direct hook up in Fedora.  I could not find any direct posts confirming that, but I am guessing this is the case.
      Willzzz suggested various options and tests (here post #12) on the Ubuntu forum.  I set up and tried all.  The test was to see if I could force the APN to see the 3g system under the 4g settings (out of the box, without the Pantech Tool alteration).  I was not successful with any.  I tried using all three of the AT+CGDCONT versions above in the Init3 setting.  Phone numbers of *99#, *99***3#, and #777. Even though both options (within the init string & in the dial-up number) are supposed to change the APN, neither worked for me.
    Many of these items have been discussed before in various posts in this forum.  I don't claim credit for anything, but trying various options.  Thanks to Neander, Willzzz88, Irieblue and Toughbook, among the others that added to those posts.  The reason for the detail in this post is simply to document what I tried, what worked and what didn't hoping it might help others connect.  Thank you all for your expertise on this forum.

  • AS3/Flash Dev Teams: Help me fix Flash's Clipboard API on Linux!

    I am hoping to get in touch with the Adobe development team responsible for the ActionScript framework (for Flash Player, in particular).  I would really like to work with them to fix this bug (or, hell, attempt to fix it myself if they'd give me access to their source control):

    Long-story-short:
    The "System Clipboard" API (plain text format only) from Flash 9 worked wonderfully cross-platform (Windows, MacOSX, Linux).
    However, the AS3 "Desktop Clipboard" API (plain text, HTML, RTF, and custom formats) introduced in Flash 10 has issues on Linux.  In particular, it only set contents into a particular 1 of Linux's (X's) 3 clipboard/selection buffers, which prevents Linux users from pasting the copied contents into a Terminal session. The "System Clipboard" API from Flash 9 does not suffer from this problem.  (More background details are available in the Adobe bug linked above as well as the GitHub bug linked below).
    This bug has downstream ramifications for a relatively popular open source library (e.g. used by GitHub.com and bit.ly) that I maintain called ZeroClipboard:

    As such, I would very much like to see these issues resolved, and am willing to actively help if at all possible.

    P.S. Yes, I know that Linux is no longer officially supported by Flash Player but I also know that Linux users still manage to install the latest versions of Flash with a few workarounds.  It is also heavily used by GitHub.com users, and is therefore a high priority user base for ZeroClipboard.
    P.P.S. I also tried to get a contact via the various Adobe/Flash/Flex Twitter accounts without any success.

    Epic failure. Worked hard to contact Adobe devs and finally got through to the team via their OSS director.  End result: they'll only do for security patches for Linux, won't even consider other bug fixes.

    I'm having a similar problem. I have a 22g DB ona server and I can login to primavera with my windows client without any problem.
    I installed Project Portfolio Management R8 for Linux on a RHEL machine and i cna't login, with the same exact user data. I will post a screen. I get two log4j warns but i don't think that's the problem. Any help?

    Tricky thing. Last night I made a "wrong" Slackware setup: I forgot to add a swap partition, so, when Oracle setup started hasn't any swap partition. Setup was FASTER without swap partition, than with one (????) ;-O
    However I hadn't created the db (dbca) because my hd was full ;-(
    I have downloaded Oracle 9i from technet.oracle.com, then I have burned 3 cd (a big pain). The first CD is buggy: Rock Ridge extension allow max 37 ch as file name. There are a couple of file (documention) that are longer.

  • Help with setting up LDAP Client on Oracle Linux 6.4

    I'm having problems getting my Oracle Linux server setup as a ldap client and hoping someone can find where I'm going wrong. We have Oracle/Sun Directory Server 7 with Solaris ldap clients already setup with ssl. We are also using crypt for storing passwords. Here are the steps I have done on the Linux server.
    yum install -y openldap openldap-clients nss-pam-ldapd pam_ldap
    Edited the line FORCELEGACY=no to yes in /etc/sysconfig/authconfig
    Copied the CA certs to /etc/openldap/cacerts
    Ran: authconfig updateall enableldap enableldapauth ldapserver=zldap1.<domain> ldapbasedn="o=<domain>,o=isp" enableldaptls --enableldapstarttls
    Changed pam_password md5 to crypt in /etc/pam_ldap.conf
    Restarted /etc/init.d/nslcd and also tried rebooting.
    I'm seeing the following errors in messages:

    Ok, 2 scenarios
    Scenario 1
    Installed Oracle 10.1.0.3.0 on Suse 9.2, the location of the listner is: /oracle/dborafiles/application_name/instance/admin/netadmin/
    Which is great, as this is where i want the listener and tnsnames.ora files to be under.
    Scenario 2
    Installed Oracle 10.2.0.1.0 on Suse 9.2 (using exactly the same method for doing the above instllation), and for some odd reason, the location of Listner and tnsnames.ora files are under:
    /oracle/dboracle/orabase/product/10.2.0.1.0/network/admin/
    This is the wrong location for me, I want the listner and tnsnames .ora files to be under same like scenario 1.
    2 Questions:
    Q1: why the listener.ora and tnsnames.ora files are diffrent location in Scenario 2 comapred to Scenario 1.
    Q2: How do I correct it.
    Note: the TNS_ADMIN in .profile is exactly the same for the above 2 installations, changed the applciation name and sid offocure, but all the same:
    TNS_ADMIN=/oracle/dborafiles/applicatio_name/instance_name/admin/netadmin
    export ORACLE_SID ORACLE_BASE ORACLE_HOME PATH
    Can someone please help?

    For a long time now, the tnsnames and listener files have been placed in the ${ORACLE_HOME}/network/admin by default. That is the location that the installer will create these files in.
    Don't know why 10.1.0.3.0 install created the files in that folder. That is not the default behaviour in versions prior to this and versions after this.
    Check the settings of the environment variables that were in effect at the time of 10.1.0.3.0 install.

  • Help Configuring Grub for Windows 7 + Arch + Another Linux Distro

    I have been running Arch on my computer for a few months now and love it and use it as my main OS. However, I do like to try other linux distributions from time to time, just to see what they're about.
    My PC has one hard drive and is partitioned like this:
    sda1 = NTFS Windows 7 Loader
    sda2 = NTFS Windows 7
    sda3 = ext4 Slackware
    sda4 = ext4 Arch
    Note the entry for Slackware. So this morning I decided I wanted to try Slackware. sda3 originally had Ubuntu on it. So I used gParted to format sda3 and I labeled it Slackware. I then went through the Slackware installer and installed Slackware successfully except for one issue - it reported that it could not modify the boot loader. It otherwise reported that the install was successful.
    So I rebooted and got the same Grub menu options as I had before the Slackware install attempt, meaning that Ubuntu was still listed as sda3. I tried selecting that and Slack would not load (sorry - I forget the exact error).
    I'm pretty sure that Slackware is installed in sda3 and it is just a matter of configuring Grub to recognize it, though I could be wrong. Can anyone provide guidance as to how to solve this problem?

    If you want Grub to recognize your Slackware install
    -install os-prober
    -use grub-mkconfig to generate a new grub.cfg

    However, there is an on-going OpenSource version called "RXTX" (http://jarvi.ezlink.com/rxtx/) that works quite well. Be sure to read all the documentation that comes with it, as you'll need to set some permissions on the ports you want to use.
