Help Hacker/No connection/Limited connection wireless problem

I have a WRT 54G router. A few weeks ago spyware got on my computer because my virus/spyware protection did not update (Pccillian). My virus program also says an unauthorized person is on my wireless connection and it gives me an IP address. But it can't get them off.
Someone recommended downloading AVG and McAfee wireless protection program. I downloaded the AVG programs and my computer works a little better, but I still got the pop-ups and someone was still logged onto my wireless.
I downloaded the McAfee wireless protection and now I cannot log onto the internet. I have a wireless signal, but it says "no connection" or "limited connection." I had my windows program try to repair the problem and it gets to a point where it is renewing or changing an IP address and it tells me it can't do it and to contact the program manager...
Does anyone have any suggestions? My computer is a dell laptop. Thanks/

Yes that is so true TheRiot.  To get rid of the free loader go into your routers user interface and boot him out.  You can set up WPA or WPA2 security and they will not be able to use your wireless network any more.  Make sure your SSID is NOT linksys so you should change it to something you can idetify as YOUR wireless network.

  • [Solved] Wired connection ok but wireless problem on Intel 5100

Here is how i solved the problem :
1 - get back to the wiki doing everything in order
2 - added dbus in attition to hal in the deamon line in rc.conf
3 - put wicd at the end of the deamon line
4 - then configured wicd for my wireless network at boot : no more dbus error, and connection perfectly ok
Thx very much for the superb wiki, certainly my fault if i messed up but i still have to learn
    Hi
I've got a problem with the wireless connection on my toshiba R10
my wired connection is working flawlessly but i can't use my wifi card. I'm using arch 2009.8 i686
Here is what i've done following the wiki :
1 : installed ifplugd for the RJ45 connection + added the deamon on my rc.conf
    2 : installed wireless-tools
    3 : installed the driver intel 5100

Stab in the dark...the hal daemon should start dbus, but sometimes I've been encouraged to add the dbus DAEMON explicitly (before hal).
I don't really understand dbus too intimately, but I've come across situations where although dbus is running, I can't talk to it because the DBUS_SESSION_BUS_{ADDRESS,PID,WINDOWID} variables weren't visible in the environment I was working in. For instance, if dbus is started by xinitrc, and then some system-level daemon tries to talk to dbus, usually it fails for me, and I have to use some workaround.
Now I would expect wicd to be set up so that the ordinary user doesn't encounter any problems of this sort. On the other hand, the error you're getting does say that it's dbus communication which is failing. Perhaps you could try shutting down hald and dbus, open a terminal, su -, /etc/rc.d/dbus start, and then try from that command line to tell wicd to connect?

  • G580 Limited access Wireless problem

    Hello,my first post here.
    G580 wireless adapter BCM4313
Try different divers, but problem still exist. When i surf on internet everything is OK,but when i put something to downloading my connection get limited access and need to disable wireless card to connect again or restart computer. The problem is not from my router for sure.Appreciate any help.

So far, no solution yet. Do you have a Broadcom wireless N chip in your system?

  • G500s wireless problem

I recently recieved my new g500S this last week. I was finally able to get it out of the box and up and running yesterday. To my surprise, I was unable to get my wireless to detect any wireless access points. Several hours were spent troubleshooting including several driver reinstalls, wireless router setting changes, and internet searchs. All of which were unsuccessful.
This morning, I attempted one last attempt to troubleshoot the problem. I had found through a search that some lenovo laptops had been shipped with the wireless wiring reversed. When I opened the case, I found not one, but two immediate problems. First, I noticed that the wire sheath on one of the wires(the black wire) connecting to the wireless had been rubbed bare. Second, the two wires(black and white) had been reversed on their connection to the card. After that was fixed, I powered up the laptop and found that the wireless was able to detect all nearby access points and connect to my router without difficulty.
I have been pleased with the quality of Lenovo in the past but this has been the latest purchase in several years from Lenovo and I am very disappointed. This lack of quality control is unacceptable and I will reconsider any further personal purchases or recommendations to my customers. Hopefully this will also help anyone that has been having wireless problems that have not found a solution.  Thank you.

  • Windows Vista laptop to Time Machine Airport wireless connection "Limited"

Hey everyone, sorry about this issue, as its most likely a simple fix. Being an apple user of 20 years I have never owned a PC, long story short, a new guest in my home has a windows laptop that is running Vista, and is only connecting to my Time Capsule wireless with a "limited Connectivity" on the IPv4 and IPv6. Is there a fix for this? or am I missing something?
If it helps, we have had other windows laptops connect to the TM with no issues, and the connection we are using is that of the Guest Network on the TM, the one I have set up for guests or visitors.
    thanks in advance everyone

You can at least start to narrow the problem down if you temporarily disable the wireless security on the "guest" network and then see if the laptop will connect that way. If it will, that tells you that the laptop can connect and it's likely a security setting issue on the laptop that will need to be tweaked if you want to continue to use wireless security on "guest" network.
If the laptop will still not connect, then it's likely that the Windows Firewall and/or the anti-virus software is blocking the attempted connection. Someone will need to get into the applications on the laptop to "allow" or "enable" the connection.
If that still won't allow the connection, maybe one of the PC guys on the forum here will have some additional suggestions.
Keep us posted on your progress

  • Wireless guest users are getting limited connectivity.

Could anyone help please, I have a wireless guest solution consist of :
WLC located internal in the network – all the AP are associated with that WLC-.
Anchor WLC located in the DMZ . the guest SSID are tunneled from the internal WLC to the Anchor WLC, the DHCP service for guest users is on the Anchor WLC.
NAC guest server to authenticate the guest users.
The solution was working properly but now we have a problem that if any one tried to connect to the guest SSID if he is authorized or not , the user will get IP address from the DHCP pool and now as you know most of people has smart phones and they try to get internet access. Now only 5 or 6 people authenticated with NAC gest server and the DHCP pool become full because too many people tried to connect even they do not authenticate.
so if any user trys to cnnect he will not get IP address from the anchor controller and getting limited connectivity.
if I add static IP address on my Laptop , I will be redirected to the authentication page and can access normally.
I am working in big environment 7,000 users so I can’t go with increasing the DHCP pool because the problem will not be solved.
I hope if anyone can help in this case.
    Thanks in advance.

This is a pitfall and raising  the eyebrows.. currently we do not have anyother option other than using a WPA-PSK + WEB AUTH
    that is..
PSK will block the users to just grab an IP and sit!! , if the user enters a valid PSK, he will get the IP address and followed by the Web auth process!! this may help u as of now.. or just a work around.. to overcome the IP exhaustion..
Please rasie a PER with your accounts team to raise the severity on this issue if u have the contract n all with us!!
Please dont forget to rate the usefull posts!!

  • Lenovo G400s Wireless Connection Limited Access on Windows 7 Ultimate - 32 bit

Just bought Lenovo G400s, install windows 7 ultimate - 32 bit on it.
It turns out the wireless network driver need to install manually, the disc driver that came with laptop was for windows 8.1. So I went to lenovo website, put on the series and download the wirelss network driver which is around 250 MB.
I installed the driver and connect to the wireless network. My office wireless was on security and use static ip. I changed the ipv4 ip static already. It connected for a while, 1-2 second then lost connection. I checked with ping to google, got 2 records of live connection which is very short. After that it try to reconnecting itself again and again with status said "Limited Access"
I search in google, read some forums about problem in different series, so I use another computer go to Intel website to download latest driver. Got it installed, but it's still the same.
I try download broadcom driver, but it's really different and doesn't work at all.
Now I don't know what to do.
    Windows 7 Ultimate - 32 bit
    Inter(R) Centrino(R) Wireless-N 135
    Driver Provider: Intel
    Driver Date: 1/26/2014
    Driver Version: 15.11.0.7
Digital Signer: Microsoft Windows Hardware Compability Publisher
What makes it weird, although from intel website said the driver date is in 3/21/2014, and the version is 16.11.0, but this information I get from device driver was different.
    Here's the intel's website if you're wondering:
    _https://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&ProductFamily=Wireless+Networking&ProductLine=Intel%C2%AE+Wi-Fi+Products&ProductProduct=Intel%C2%AE+Centrino%C2%AE+Wireless-N+135#&OSVersion=Windows%207%20(32-bit)*&DownloadType=Software%20Applications
    Can anyone help me?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Today I want to install windows 8.1 on it, because the laptop came with windows 8.1 driver disc.
However, I try the wireless connection once again , one final try before I clean install the OS.
It turns out the internet connection is connected. Ping is quite stable, got a small drop. Nonetheless, IT'S CONNECTED!!!
I don't know what happened, I tried thousand ways yesterday and gave up. Today I don't set anything just try connecting with static IP set the ipv4 just like I did yesterday, and it connects without hassle!! is there a pc fairy or what?
The possible way I can think of is the router's internet connection's got restarted since It's a new day at office.
Despite how it solved still mystery to me, I think I mark this thread as Solved.

  • Hi there can anyone help. I am connected to the internet by ethernet but my connection keeps timing out and my network diagnostics shows all green and network connection ok but still no internet connection. the other wireless laptop in my flat works well.

Hi there can anyone help. I am connected to the Internet by Ethernet but my connection keeps timing out and my network diagnostics shows all green and network connection ok but still no Internet connection. the other wireless laptop in my flat works well. Could the other wireless laptops being used in my flat be affecting my connection. what can I do to get connected, keep connected. Thanks for any ideas out there.

My network connected for a few hours then went back to timing out. I have not changed anything. However there four additional laptop users in my family who do not seem to be having any problems using their wireless connection. Could their film and music downloads be causing the timing out of my connection and if so is there a way I could prioritizes my computer or limit their use?

  • Need help connecting to BEFW11S4 wireless network

A friend I visit often has a BEFW11S4 router. Other friends who visit connect immediately to the unsecured wireless network. Unfortunately, for unknown reasons I'm unable to connect with either of my laptops, so have to plug in the LAN. This is the only place I've ever had a problem connecting to a wireless network.
My laptops are Toshiba Satellites, running Windows XP Home & Office, respectively. Sometimes they won't even recognize the network, or when they do, just won't connect. I've gone through the tutorial and all settings numerous times, turned off the firewall, turned off Norton and still no luck. Any help getting me connected is appreciated. Thanks.

In your computer, go to your wireless software, and go to "Preferred Networks" (sometimes called "Profiles" ). There are probably a few networks listed. Delete any network named "linksys". Also delete any network that you do not recognize, or that you no longer use.  Delete any existing entry for your friend's network.   Reboot your computer.  Return to "Preferred Networks" and add your friends SSID.  Then select this SSID and make it your default network, and set it to automatic login. You may need to go to "settings" to do this, or you may need to right click on your network and select "Properties" or "settings".  Reboot computer.  You should login automatically when computer boots up.
    Hope this helps.

  • Problems connecting to BTFON wireless network

    Hi all
I have been connecting to the internet through BT FON for almost a month now but without warning I lost access to the network. Whenever I attempt to connect, it says - Limited or no connectivity and I've noticed that when I attempt to repair the connection it hangs as it fails to renew my IP address. The error message is: failed to renew your IP address. For some reason I've lost connection with the server.
Is the problem with my laptop? Is there a way to fix this?
    Thanks

Thanks for your response Riad but my issue is still my issue is still unresolved. I've been trying different locations for the past month without any luck. Everytime I try to connect it returns as "Limited or No Connectivity". I am able to connect to other wireless networks with ease. I am not whether its a settings issue or not.
This bothers me because I still have quite a bit of unused credit in my Fon account. I was browsing happily one minute and the next it just disconnected and hasn't been up since. I checked the map for coverage and it still shows that on my street there are 4 or 5 people with hubs.
    Confused!

  • My iMac is not staying connected to my wireless internet. Any suggestions?  My provider says it's a computer issue and not their problem.

My iMac is not staying connected to the wireless internet.  My provider tells me it's a computer issue and not their problems.  Any suggestions?

Please test after taking each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved. Back up all data before making any changes.
    Step 1
Take the applicable steps in this support article. The Wireless Diagnostics program generates a large file of information about your system, which would be used by Apple Engineering in case of a support incident. Don't post the contents here.
    Step 2
Disconnect all USB 3 devices. If you don't know which are USB 3, disconnect all USB devices except keyboard and mouse.
    Step 3
If you're not using a wireless keyboard or trackpad, disable Bluetooth by selecting Turn Bluetooth Off from the menu with the Bluetooth icon. If you don't have that menu, open the Bluetooth preference pane in System Preferences and check the box marked Show Bluetooth in menu bar. Test. If you find that Wi-Fi works better with Bluetooth disabled, you should use the 5 GHz Wi-Fi band. Your router may not support it; in that case, you need a new router.
    Step 4
Open the Network pane in System Preferences and make a note of your settings in the Wi-Fi service. It may be helpful to take screenshots of the various tabs in the preference pane. If the preference pane is locked, unlock it by clicking the padlock icon and entering your administrator password. Delete Wi-Fi from the service list on the left by selecting it and clicking the minus-sign button at the bottom. Then recreate the service by clicking the plus-sign button and following the prompts.
    Step 5
    Reset the System Management Controller.
    Step 6
    Reset the PRAM.
    Step 7
Launch the Keychain Access application. Search for and delete all AirPort network password items that refer to the network. Make a note of the password first.
    Step 8
Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service center.

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Need help with WRT54GL, can't connect on wireless just cable

    Hello,
I have a WRT54GL, firmware 4.30.5. It is connected to a cable modem. I have two computers, one mac and one pc using XP SP2. Mac works great with its airport adapter but the pc only works with the cable. I tried two separate wireless USB adapters but can't get it to connect to the internet.
I can connect to the router but it keeps getting stock at the acquiring network address. I already set the Mac filter and the connection is Excellent but no internet.
Router is set to Auto DHCP. I appreciate any help.
    Thank you all,
    Nicko

Thanks for your help. Actually late last night I installed the EasyConnect Utility from Linksys.com and it managed to connect to the wireless router and connected to the Internet. But now my problem is the connection is VERY SLOW. The signal strength is Excellent but it takes a long while to download any page with flash or images. I did a Speakeasy.net speed test and it came our under 100K for download and about 200K for upload. When I connect a network cable directly to the router then the speed shoots up to over 1.5M+
    Thanks again,
    Nicko
