Help help...Making existing livecycle fillable form mobile(ios/android adobe reader) compitible

Hello Everyone,
I am new to livecycle designer. I have a fillable pdf form(having almost all the field types, dynamic image uploads, and javascripts). I don't know if it is possible to have fillable form for mobile devices( for iPhone,ipad,Android).
Does any one have idea how can I make my existing pdf form compatible with mobile devices??

Hi Jay Lakhani,
You will not be able to use the form on mobile devices unless it is rendered in HTML format.
If you want your XFA forms to run on mobile devices, you need to do the following:
- Create a HTML render profile in CRX. A default profile comes with LC installation. Check this for more details on this (http://helpx.adobe.com/livecycle/help/mobile-forms/rendering-form-temp late.html)
- Secondly, you need to have LC Mobile workspace application present on your mobile device. This app is available in respective app stores.
This is what you need to render the forms in HTML on mobile devices.

Saving fillable PDF file in Android Adobe Reader Mobile Application

I'll do my best to explain my situation.
1. I open the fill-able PDF file from Google Drive with Android Adobe Reader Mobile Application.
2. I fill out the pdf form using the Android Adobe Reader Mobile Application.
3. Once I'm done filling-in the PDF, I would like to save the file in a specific folder in Google Drive.
I cannot find any saving option within the Android Adobe Reader Mobile Application.
The only way around saving was the "Sharing" feature. It allows the user to share the pdf file using various android applications such as Google Drive, Email, and Evernote to share the file.
This does not allow for overwriting of the original file. Therefore, you will create a new file every time you share the file.
I wanted to know if there was a way to save the file under the same name to overwrite the same file in the Android Mobile version.

You need to duplicate(and/or rename) it first (after finding it in the "Documents" menu tab), then fill it out. This is the workaround for the missing Save/Save as menu. Once you fill out something, and leave the application, the document will be saved automatically.

Having Problems Seeing your LiveCycle Designer Forms on the iPAD Adobe Reader App?

I'm not a computer wize and very new to Adobe and creating forms with LiveCycle. So apologize to anyone that reads this and says "duh", but hopefully it will be helpful to someone out there who is struggling like I was.
First off - the IPad will will definitely be able to view your livecycle forms regardless of what anyone else says! These were my steps;
1. Create form in LiveCycle Designer.
2. When you save, select "save as"
3. When the dialogue box opens, and you are creating the name of what you are going to call your file, below you will see a drop down box labeled "Save As Type". Make sure you switch the file type to "Adobe Static PDF Form (*.pdf)"
And that's it!
Here is another tip for a user like me:)
I need to create a form to post to a website, where people fill it in and save it to their computers. I found that when I just saved the form straight from LiveCycle Designer and then posted, some of the free adobe versions wouldn't let the user fill it in. So this is what I did,
1. Follow the first 3 steps I listed above.
2. Next open Adobe (the full version) not the reader. I have Adobe X.
3. Got to "Save As". It will give you a bunch of options. Select "Reader Extended PDF" and then "Enable Additional Features"
Add that should be it!
One more tip for the average to low level user. We had some feedback that when someone open my form in the iPad app. they were not able to fill it in. They could, but what they didn't realize was they needed to select the icon at the top that is a little picture of a speech bubble and pencile.

Yup. I filled in the form and made a bunch of comments, closed the app and everything I had filled in on the form was still there. I also tried emailing the filled in form to myself and opening it. The comments and filled in sections don't appear when I open it in my email viewer, but as long as I open it in the adobe app everything is still there.
Now all I have to do is to convince my web guy not to be mad when I Tell him he has to repost all my files (JK) ;)

I am using a Mac OS 10.9 and i can't type into a PDF form. I have adobe reader and another adobe product (adobe photoshop elements 12). Is there a way i can fill out a form and email?

Way to make Reader Mobile (IOS/Android) to fill in form cells based on input made in other cell?

Hi, Is there a way to make Acrobat Reader Mobile (IOS/Android) to fill in form cells based on input in another cell?
I made a timesheet where based on an activity code input in a dropdown box the description corresponding the activity code is displayed automatically in another cell.(see below)
This is working flawlessly as long as I am using a PC, however does not work on any kind of phone.(I suppose this feature is not supported on Acrobat Mobile yet)
My question is if anybody can suggest an alternative method for mentioned feature which works also on phones?
Any suggestion would be much appreciated

Try getting rid of that console.println statement. If that doesn't help, it should work if you convert that from a format script of the dropdown to a calculate script of the REMARK1 field.

How to flatten a fillable form on iOS

Ever since the latest iOS update, our fillable reader extended PDF's are not working properly in the Reader App. I created fillable forms and save as a "reader extended" file. When we open the file on the Reader App, we can fill in the form and sign, but when we go to email the form it attaches the blank form to an email. It does not offer the "Share Original" or "Flatten copy" option before going into the email. We use this feature for mobile devices to sign contracts on site vs. going on a laptop. If I open a normal PDF file, a non fillable form, I can email the original or flattended copy from the reader app but this is not needed on a normal PDF. How can I share the flattened copy of a fillable form from the reader app on the iPhone/iPAD? Is this issue going to be resolved or are there settings I need to change in the PDF file before saving it for reader extended?

Form processed by LiveCycle, but cannot be saved by Adobe Reader

Hi All,
I have an Adobe form which has been processed by LiveCycle, however, it still cannot be saved by Adobe Reader. What could be the probable cause of this?
Background:
Previously, the whole process could work alright; i.e. create form using Acrobat Prof -> process using LiveCycle -> editing and saving with Adobe Reader.
However, after some changes where made to the pre-processed form, LiveCycle can no longer make the form save-able by Adobe Reader.

The term "LiveCycle" covers a good number of products so I will make the assumption you are talking about Reader Extensions. Please let me know if this is wrong.
If you licensed Adobe LiveCycle Barcoded Forms this does not necessarily mean that you have licensed Adobe LiveCycle Reader Extensions (which is sometimes referred to as ARES). ARES is the technology that is used to allow the Barcoded Forms PDFs to work but does not enable save-off-line capabilities on your forms unless you licensed this feature too.

Forms in iOS/Android

I've developed forms in LiveCycle ES2, and they work as I expect on a desktop computer. The user can fill in the form, sign the form, and click the button to email the form back. There is no server-side processing or anything going on, it is just a discrete singular form.
When I open the same form in iOS or Android Adobe Reader, I cannot fill out the form or click the button. Are there any standards for how I need to save this in LiveCycle ES2? I've tried dynamic, I've tried static, I've tried compatibility with 7.1 and before, I've tried compatibility with 9.1. Is there a term for what I'm trying to do? I don't want to connect with a LiveCycle server. I don't want to interact with any sort of server data. I just want my forms to show up in iOS or Android Adobe Reader and see the fillable fields turn blue and be able to click in them. Thanks!

As Steve says, you can't use XFA PDF forms directly on mobile devices. However, there are two options you can look at:
1. Adobe has recently announced a new version of LiveCycle that renders XFA forms in HTML for tablet devices. http://www.adobe.com/products/livecycle/mobile.html

I have the same issue now with the newest update...the iOS 7 design update now wont allow edited PDF's inside of this app to print with the forms filled out...so now all the usage i have for this app is GONE...
I am so angry...you dont have any clue how mad I am...cant email them to me or print to airprint with forms filled
Someone please tell me there is a fix...PDF's i created with the app before the update are fine...they are all there and can be printed with forms filled but new ones dont...please say there is a fix

Help with Database Connected LiveCycle ES4 form

Hello and thanks for taking the time to read this question, I hope you can help!
I have a LiveCycle ES 4 form connected to an excel database. The form has buttons to "Add", "Update" or "Find" a record. These buttons all work correctly EXCEPT when the server drive that has the Excel file is not available. In this case I wanted to add code the "Add" button informing the user that there is an error. I tried adding a try/catch block before the SQL statement that inserts a record into excel but even when I purposely make the Excel file unavailable the try/catch block doesn't seem to work. The javascript console will show an error but try/catch doesn't seem to trigger. If I had a javascript syntax error within the try/catch block, it works as expected, but with the database connected form, it appears the try/catch block does not trigger based on errors generated as a result of the database file having an issue. In this case, the console just shows a "GeneralError: Operation failed." message. Why doesn't the try/catch block trigger since there is an error as stated on the console? Is there a work around? Getting help text to show on fillable form

Hi all,
This might be really simple but I've created a few forms in FormCentral and I've included the 'help text' on a few fields. When I save the form as a PDF and open with Adobe reader, I get the purple bar across the top stating 'Please fill out the following form', however the help text does not show up anywhere to give guidance?
Is this a particular view setting in reader?

The help text won't display in the purple document message bar at the top, but should appear as the tooltip text when the mouse cursor hovers over a field that has help text set. It works that way for me.

Fillable Form - Can't use in Reader

Please also indicate the exact symptoms in Reader, and which version of Reader, rather than replying on everyone getting the same results as you.

Livecycle forms rendering issue with Adobe reader 10.1

Hi,
I have designed a form in XFA 3.1 (Livecycle ES2 9.0). It works perfectly up to Adobe reader 10.0.3. Now when I am opening the form in Adobe reader 10.1.0 or above, the forms is showing some strange behaviors.
1. For some of the drop downs, the text is not visible on screen although a value is selected which I confirmed by printing in a alert box.
2. The calendar control look and feel has changed. the "Today's date" is showing up as a hyperlink (in light blue). However, the last two digits of the year of the "Today's Date" are not showing as a link and does not respond if I click on them.
Could this be a possible compatibility issue between XFA 3.1 and Adobe reader 10.1? Will upgrading the designer to a more latest version (and XFA 3.3) help in resolving this issue?
