HELP!!! I am trying to save data in a spreadsheet

I have tried several things but can not get this, should be pretty simple.
1) I have a loop which sends command and read serail buffer and parse data. This works fine and my program is 3 seconds behind my actual device. Now I want to save the data I parse out in a spreadsheet but only every minute becasue my program will be running for 8 hours. Do you guys think that Excel would be handel such a big matrix.
my data is something like this:
I am receiving the day of the year which is 338 as string. the time which is also a string but updates as my loop is running which is approximately 3 seconds behind my actuall hardware shows but thats not a problem because I acutally want to save the data rather than viewing purpos

2) If some one can show me a approach where user is asked to save-as file option (where to save the file) when I am start my loop when I am actually sending command and receving data and parsing data and if the file exist already then name another file.
3) the format I want to put my data to spreadsheet is as:
day-time (actual number)
01 70
02 80
03 90
04 76
so on untill i read 36 channels and their corresponding temperatues. Next time i append the next data set after a minutes should look like:
day-time day-time
01 70 01 72
02 80 02 81
03 90 03 95
04 76 04 78
36 90 36 98
this would be a pretty big metrix if i append data every minute and my program would run for 8 hours.
As I mentioned I want to save the data only every minutes while my program acquiring data every 3 seconds. Thanks for your help

I save directly to excel large amounts of data all the time. My first solution is a VI called "SAVE TO EXCEL". With this subroutine, you can open excel dump data and save your file.
Secondly, I have a small VI that acquires data and saves it when I want, check it out. ("WattmetreHP_1CHAN_V2.vi")

How can you save data to a spreadsheet and use different worksheets in the spreadsheet?

I am trying to save data to a spreadsheet.
Each set of test data needs to be saved under a different worksheet. Is this possible and how can I do it?

As the example that Dennis pointed out, this can be done using activeX. In addition to that example I have another that demonstrates how to create a new workbook with multiple worksheets and save data to each of them. I hope that between the two you can get an idea of what to do.

RoboHelp 10 - error msg - " ... trying to save data to root.fpj"

I am using RoboHelp 10 to create WebHelp. I keep all the files on my local hard drive. There's a file repository at our SharePoint site and a process that checks out all of the files when I start RoboHelp and, when I close the project, the process saves all changed files back to SharePoint.
I started a project this week updating existing WebHelp; my co-worker told me to go to SharePoint and copy the foo.xpj and foo.hhc files from SharePoint to a folder on my local hard drive. I did this and I was told to double-click the xpj file to start RH. All of the other files downloaded from SharePoint to my local drive. I did some work and closed the project. The files that I changed were saved back to SharePoint. Then, when I started RH again, I got this error msg immediately after I clicked on the project link under Recent Projects:
"An error occurred while trying to save data to <C:\foo\foohelp\root.fpj> <5>."
I click OK and all the files download successfully from the SharePoint repository and RH displays the project. My co-worker and I are confused by the error msg. Why is RH trying to save data to root.fpj at the beginning of the RH start-up process?

Am I right in understanding your are trying to start a new project just by taking the XPJ and HHP files from an existing project? That's not a method I have seen suggested before and I wouldn't expect it to work.
I'm not clear as to the logic of doing it this way.

other problem is that the channel DAQmx only works at real time mode not on stand alone vi using Labview 8.2 and Real time 8.2

Opening a RoboHelp 8 project in new RoboHelp 11 and receive the following error:
An error occurred while trying to save data to rhbag.apj...
I can see this file in the project but many of my baggage files (.pdfs) are missing and I am not able to add them back into the project. I select New Baggage file and select the file to add, however the file is not added and no other error is received.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Is the file writable or set to read only?
Probably, the rhbag.apj got corrupted. If you open it up with notepad (or other text/xml editor), what do you see?

How do I save data in different spreadsheets inside an excel file?

I am already able to save data into an excel file, but how can I instead send the data separated into segments, where each segment is placed on a different spreadsheet on the excel file I specify.

In the ActiveX examples that ship with LV there is a good example of how to control Excel. Part of the process of opening a Excel file is to open the workbook (Excel document) and then open a specific worksheet (spreadsheet).
Try experimenting with that example and you should be able to figure out how to select different worksheets. If you still have trouble give another holler.

Trying to save data from Treo 680 on Desktop by Access into a Palm Zire 21

Hello,
I'm no longer using my Palm 680 for a phone but just as a PDA for the address book and date book, so I figured I could use a Palm Zire 21 instead. I only have my data on the desktop now, so I chose to hot sync data from the Desktop into the Z21 PDA. I also clicked on File and created two export files one for my Date Book and one for my Address Book but when I tried to Import them into the PDA the prompt said: they were corrupt? I hope someone can tell me how to fix this problem. Thanks electrikn <><

I had the same problem you did. The standard CD from Palm is V4.2. That version will NOT work with BB Desktop. You can download V4.1.4e from the Palm web site. That will sync with the BB Desktop software. Make a backup of all of your Palm software, uninstall it with Windows Control panel, and then install the downloaded software and restore your Palm data. The data is all in one sub-folder with a name similar to your device name. Here is a web link to the Palm download site:

Beware: A number of fields DID NOT get copied over using the BB Desktop software. I am now faced with editing 1800 contacts to fix this problem. For example, the Palm Contacts field does not exist in the BB, so it is not imported at all. I also had problems with my Calendar. None of my old history was imported. I wanted to keep my history. I am rather disappointed with the import process. It did work, but left no options to fix these problems and restore my missing data.

Trying to insert data into a spreadsheet on the fly

I'm sure this is a very basic question, but I came into the project I'm
doing this semester with no LabVIEW experience, and I've just taught
myself along the way.
RIght now, I'm trying to calibrate a pyrometer with a thermocouple
wafer. I want to generate a set of data points of the TC readout
in deg C vs. pyrometer amps. The part of my program
that I'm using to control the lamp (and thusly, the heat) is a state in
a state machine. The state itself is a while loop. I've
generated some code that I thought would do the trick. I
apologize for the messiness, as I kinda cobbled it together off the top
of my head.
The time delay is set to 0.1 seconds, to generate a reading at that
interval. The result of this code is that the files only have the
first reading in them, and that's it. I imagine my error is in
the initialization. By putting the initialize array things in the
while loop, I thought it'd clear everything out each time through the
loop. But I wasn't sure how else to do it. And, the files
are keeping the very first value they take, not just overwriting the
old with the new. I know it's probably much easier to implement
this another way, but I don't know of such a way, at least not without
seriously altering the general setup of my program.

I am not sure why you are even doing any array operations. You can simply connect the output of your Express VIs to the Write to Spreadsheet file.vi and it will work howver this is not a good programming practice.
Usually if you are acquiring data in a while loop and writing it to file, you want to open the file before the beginning of the loop, write to the file in the loop (using Write File.VI), and close the file after the loop finishes executiong. This approach prevents opening and closing the file every time the loop runs (which is what happens when you use a high level file Vi like Write to Spreadsheet File inside the loop).

Unable to SAVE data through a data form in Hyperion Planning

Hi,
I recently migrated an application from development to QA using the LCM tool and refreshed the outline into Essbase using Planning Web. Once completed, i loaded the level0 data and aggregated it.
I opened a data form and tried to SAVE data and i get an error stating: "There was an error during the save process".
I tried saving the data using another form and i was successful at it. I re-migrated the data-form i was having an issue with and tried again. Thist time I get an error "Communication error with server. Callback failed for data entry page". This error shows up now on every form and every application.
Any suggestion on how to fix this?

I don't know if that patch will help you or not. It addresses a specific issue related to text data types. Your issue sounds similar, in that it appears to be triggered via the existence of specific data. The issue we were describing above presents itself when opening the form, and not when saving the form. I'm just guessing here, but it sounds as though there is some type of mismatch between the data types that Planning is expecting to display and save on the form, and the format of the existing data in Essbase.
You said that you can't save the form once the data is loaded into a particular version. Here's what I'd do to narrow the issue down:
1) Copy the data into your version so that the form will NOT save. (ensuring that the issue is present)
2) Start selectively deleting data from the version. Write a quick calc script that clears certain data, account, by account.
3) After each selective delete, make a note of the account you cleared. You'll only need to clear accounts that are present on the form.
4) After each selective delete, refresh the form, and then try to save.
At some point, I expect the save will be successful. You'll then know what data was causing the issue. I'm guessing that this data (probably a specific account) will have a data type that doesn't match up with the data in Essbase. It could be defined as a Smart List that wasn't migrated. Or a text value that doesn't exist in the app repository. Something like that.

Now I am trying to save data back to the table.I got the following code in the save method which will be called when the save button is clicked.

I just read this solution, tried it & now it's working...
I think I found a fix...I went to Settings, iTunes & App Stores, then click on your Apple ID...view Apple ID...change country region to USA (even though it was already USA...just do it again...go through the steps making sure the United States store is selected...agree to the Terms of Service, THEN I think what the key is is to RE-auhorize your credit card...in my case all I had to do was enter the security code...and it worked...I am now able to download the YouTube app for example...couldn't do it before.

HT204365 My function to "Open in" iBooks through my email is not an option, trying to save PDF on iBooks?? Please help

My "open in" iBooks option while viewing a PDF file via email does not appear. I was trying to save PDF in iBooks as I was able to do this a few months ago but now I'm unable. Any suggestions.

Realizing this is an old post, I want to offer my knowledge for future inquiries. I read a lot of posts and found no advise to my specific question, "Why does attachment options like 'Open in iBooks' not show in mail while previewing?" I, actually, had to contact my IT department AND Apple to get this issue resolved.
This is specific, but not inclusive, to those whom access their work email (Which is normally secure. Such as Exchange servers or other VPN required sites) through their iDevice, Droid, Chrome App, etc. Exchange and other networks have implemented source coding programs targeted at keeping data secure. This can keep us from opening attachments in iBooks, Acrobat, Microsoft Office, etc. Your provider can encrypt this code into your device (s) when you request access to your section of the server (ie: your work email). You may not have been aware but a lot of apps do this.
You can, most times, circumvent this by forwarding your work email to your personal email. The only except to this (that I have found thus far), is that if the writer or publisher of the document has encrypted the actual document itself (Such as "Read Only" or "Uneditable").
This may seem like a hack or loop, but it isn't. Allowing you to email it to yourself still protects their interest (Copyright infringement lawsuits). And it can allow you to do your job (just remember that YOU, now, ARE LIABLE FOR YOUR COPY & more than likely, being monitered).

I don't understand why you're buying a Firewire adaptor, since AFAIK both of your computers have Firewire already built in.
All you need is a firewire cable. Connect the Firewire socket on the old machine to the Firewire socket on your new iMac.
Then start the old machine in Target Mode (i.e. by holding down the T key on its keyboard, while it's starting up, until you see the three-legged T icon hopping around the screen of the old machine.)
At that point you will also see a new icon on the screen of your new iMac. This is the hard drive of your old machine. By clicking on it you can navigate through it any way you like, just as you would normally.
Just drag across whatever you want from the old computer to the new one. This will leave everything on the old computer untouched.
- or use Migration Assistant but in my experience, Migration Assistant isn't very reliable and fails to migrate large amounts of stuff.
