Help - I changed DHCP settings and cut myself off from my own router!

In my lame attempt to increase security on my router (WRT54GS) I changed the allowed number of DHCP users from 50 to 4.  As soon as I clicked "Save Settings" I systematically disabled access to the router from all computers in the house, and now I can even get into the router to change it back.  Grr!!  Before I touch anything else, I wanted to reach out for help.  Anyone?
Solved!

Hummmm, well if I had to guess I bet you did not hold down the reset button in back for 30 seconds at least and then power cycle the router.  A quick press of the button will not perform a hard reset.  So how did you perform the 'reset' ;-).
Wireless security can be found here.  Pick which level you want.  Glad you got it going.

  • Firefox is not working - I believe it is because a McAfee pop-up asked if I wanted to allow something, and instead of 'allow always' I clicked 'block.' A year or so ago I did this (and forgot) and it changed the settings and I also lost MF access.

Everything else about my computer works fine, but I get a small
pop-up window in the bottom right asking if I want to allow some
kind of program access, and the options are 'allow always',
'allow once', or 'block.' I forgot that I lost access to MF and
had to call someone to help me change the settings a yr or so
ago. But I believe it was this same issue - when I re-booted the
settings took effect. What must I change in my settings? I
    already deleted my MF profile.

Has any had you try a reset yet? Sometimes the WiFi & Cellular anntennas get wacky.
Hold Sleep/Wak & Home buttons until the screen goes dark and you see the Apple logo

What is the best antivirus software for a Macbook Pro...I recently received a message from Google that someone made an attempt to hack into my mail account and I needed to change my PW and verify myself as the user.  The message suggested that I run a virus scan to check for sny malware or other types of viruses.  I do not have any software for this and up until now have not had a problem....any help is appreciated.  I would like a simple but effective solution!

It's worth noting that if your Gmail has been hacked, it would likely have nothing to do with your MacBook.  Hacking web based email is fairly common and it doesn't require any access to your machine whatsoever.  In the same way that you can simply go to the Gmail webpage through any browser, any hacker can use the same method.  It doesn't mean your machine has been compromised in any way (and it has likely not been).  I have never received an email from Google of this nature.  I have received notifications when someone has attempted to create an account with my name in which they basically say that there is no action required if you're the rightful owner.

I've changed the bill payer to myself but it stills says on emails that I sent that its from my mother.

In order for the "From" field to show you options on the "from" addresses available, you must set them up in the Preferences > Accounts first.
I can't show you a screen shot of the from field because I currently only have one account, so the from address used is the default. However, when I had more than one, then options will show up in your compose/reply window.
You'd need to add an account here:

  • How can I change the settings in the Health App from Imperial to metric - eg to metres and kilos ?

How can I change the settings in the Health App from Imperial to metric - eg to metres and kilos ?

We may have to wait for an update.  Aside from changing the country, I'm not sucre this can be done.  There is no Health App in the System preferences and no  way to modify from within the app.  Weird.
If you go to Language & Region under general settings and choose any other country, you will get Metric.  I have the opposite problem.  I live in a Metric country and want my health app to be in lbs and inches which is what I am used to.

  • How can I change game centre and iCloud account information from previous owner of my iPad?

How can I change game centre and iCloud account information from previous owner to me?

You can't do it on your own. The previous owner has to erase the device for you. You would need his Apple ID and password in order to delete his iCloud account. This is due to the Activation Lock in iOS 7 - assuming that your iPad is running iOS 7.
Contact the owner and ask home to erase it remotely using iCloud, or return the device and ask for your money back. If you can't contact the pervious owner, you will have a useless iPad on your hands.
Read this for more information. This is what you need the previous owner to do.

  • The "read" emails in one of my 3 email accounts have disappeared. I changed no settings and checked the view and they are gone. I need them back! Help!

Suddenly my main email account is not showing the emails I've kept in line...the other accounts haven't changed at all. I changed no settings, checked everything, no tags are in place. I shut down the program and opened it and nothing. I need those messages back! Where could they be??? Thank you in advance for any help you can give me!

There are several possible reasons that messages seem to 'disappear'.
There are two types of email accounts: IMAP and POP. See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/glossary-terms-including-types-accounts
If you have a POP account and are accessing the mail on more than one computer or smartphone, whichever device reads (downloads) the message first will have it locally, but it will no longer be listed or available on the other devices.
If you have an IMAP account, the message stays on the server, but if one device (user) moves or deletes the message, it will affect the view on all devices. So, for example, if you are using your smartphone and take some action on an email, when you get back to your computer, it will reflect that same action (but you might not have realized what caused it).
Sometimes the index of a mail folder (.msf) will get corrupted. If you right click on the name of the folder and select Properties, a 'Folder Properties' window will open. Select 'Repair Folder'. This may take care of the problem.
Another, less likely, reason for messages not to show up in your inbox is having the preference set to show only unread or recent messages. Then once you read them they seem to disappear.
If you are still having problems, please look at the following items and respond with the information.
    1) What operating system do you use (Win8, MAC, Linux, etc)?
    2) Are you using IMAP or POP?
    3) If your mail server has a browser interface (web mail access such as mail.google.com), do the messages show up there?
    4) Right click on the folder in question and select Properties.
    a) Number of messages?
    b) Size on disk?
    5) Left click on the account name; View settings for this account; highlight Server settings;
What choices are marked under "When I delete a message"?
    6) What, if any, antivirus program do you have installed?

  • I have been trying to make the screen saver on my iMac 27" to work with no results. I change the settings and don't work neither. Please I need help

Since I bought this 27" IMac desktop I've been changing the settings for the screen saver and has been impossible to make it work. My screen goes black and no screen saver. I have try everything, If anyone can help me with this issue I really appreciate. thanks

first of all the only purpose for screensaver since we moved to LCD panels is if you think it look pretty
the old tube crt screens would get the image they displayed for a very long time burned into the phosphor
that being said then make sure your Energy Saver is not set to turn off the screen before or the same time as the screensaver is suppose to kick in

  • What are DHCP settings and what is a DHCP lease

My macbook has decided to stop logging on to my wifi router automatically.
Seems the DHCP settings are wrong with an inappropriate IP address and Submask coded applied.
When I change them back manually to what they were the computer says it is logged on to internet but refuses to open any internet application?
I have tried the DHCP lease renewal prompt but still will not award appropriate IP or Submask code

    Hi RobertaMcC,
Are you having trouble with a Wi-Fi connection or a wired (Ethernet) connection to the internet?  DHCP is a communications protocol that assigns each computer a unique IP address on the internet.    I'll include the information you specifically requested first, and general troubleshooting steps as well.

  • Change dock settings and mouse actions in accounts?

After creating accounts for my class periods I changed the appearance of my/the administrator's dock and the actions of my mighty mouse to enable right click. After logging out and then logging back in as one of my class periods my changes did not carry through.
Please tell me there is an easier way to change the dock and mouse actions than having to log back in as the administrator, going to EACH account, changing them so they can access system preferences, log back in as the class period, make the changes and finally go back in as the admin to take off their access to system preferences. Yuck...
Also, when a student is logged into their period is there a way to switch to the admin account temporairily? For example, if they try to open an application they don't have privileges for shouldn't it prompt the admin to type in the password instead of requiring that I log out? Thanks for any help!

Download and install the Server Admin Tools from Apple. It is intended for OS X Server but works fine on the regular version of Tiger.
Then have a look at Workgroup Manager. It allows you to set all sorts of preferences for any number of accounts. Think of it like Parental Controls on steroids.
