Help importing JPEGS
Since upgrading to Lightroom 5.6 the JPEG files in folders will not import, only RAW files. Are there adjustments I need to make in Lightroom so that JPEGS will import?
If you're Importing Raw +Jpeg and want to see them separately, you need to have the 'Treat JPG files next to raw as separate photos' option ticked in Preferences

IMPORTING JPEGS -- THEY'RE COMING OUT WASHED OUT
I have been trying to import jpeg images into final cut and in the process of importing them Final cut is slightly changing the images so that they're washed out, people's faces look overexposed where they didn't in the originals. I've tried resizing the images and importing smaller ones since the originals are very large but that has not helped. PLEASE HELP! Thanks.
Any luck in altering the Gamma settings of your imported JPEGs within FCP at all?
In case you don't know how to do that, check out the Late-Breaking News for FCP 5, then jump to the section on FCP 5.1.2 (which is when those features were introduced) or, as of this post, page 12. -
IPhoto crashes when I try to import jpeg files
I am trying to import jpeg files stored on the internal hard drive of my iBook G4. The jpegs were created in Photoshop Elements. I have imported such files before in previous versions of iPhoto. However, when I try to do this using iPhoto 6.0.5 the program crashes. I have tried several different photos each with the same result. Any ideas? Thank you .

Try setting the colour profile with Preview on one or two to see if that helps. If it does, then Old Toad has created an Automator Workflow that you can use. Simply drop the affected files onto the icon and it will embed an sRGB to the files. You can download the workflow from here:

Import jpeg formatted photos from files
Hi there,
I am a new MacBook Pro owner with Leopard 10.5.1 and iLife 08. Absolutely impressed by the system, but a bit disappointed that importing JPEG formatted photos from files sometimes results in garbled photos in iPhoto and Aperture, even though the originals are simply fine. Tried to used other software like GIMP, but the issue remains.
Is this a known Mac OS X problem? If so, does anyone have a solution for it?
I would be eternally grateful for any help I can get on the isue.
LucienSorry, forgot to mention that I'm asking for my New iPad

Imported jpeg pictures jagged edges when in motion
When I import jpeg pictures into final cut pro I have a problem with pictures developing jagged pixilated lines throughout the picture when I put them in motion. I thought the image size had something to do with it but I reduced the size in photoshop to no avail. Any advice will be appreciated much.
Sorry to step in. I am about to upgrade to a MacBook Pro 17" and buy the Final Cut Studio 2. What is holding me back is I have experienced a similar problem to this string of comments and I am wondering if someone can help me.
I am trying to make a film for my wife's 40th and have a ton of high res JPEGs as well as a combination of HD video (MPEG4 format from the Sanyo Xacti HD1000) and other formats that I am currently having converted into digital.
Unfortunately the team at the apple shop here have had two problems:
1, when they import the high res JPEGs they look fine until after then rending process when they become pixilated. These are photos from a 10 MegaPixel camera.
2, The HD Video Clip (the MPEG4) format shows up as a green screen on their computer.
It turns out that they are still using the FCP version 6 and noone at the shop (Ultimate Apple Computer on Stanley Street) knows how to use it or fix the above problems.
I'll step up tomorrow and buy a the MacBook Pro 17" if I knew I could do this. Can anyone tell me how to overcome these issues?

Trouble with aspect ratio importing jpegs
I am importing JPEGs into Final Cut Pro. They are all formated at 740x480. All appropriate settings in FC are NTSC-DV Anamorphic. The photos are coming in squeezed down. Any help would be appreciated.
The pixels are not square. All you need to do is open the Motion tab and adjust the distort.

I shoot pictures in both JPEG and RAW and would like to import JPEG only in iPhoto (I import RAW pictures in Aperture). Do you know how to manage the importation automatically : for the time being I am obliged to tick each JPEG as both JPEG and RAW are displayed on the importation panel. Thanks for help.
That is not an option - you could use image capture to move only the RAW to disk and import from there - but the best solution is to shoot only RAW - there is no reason to shoot both - when you import into iPhoto a JPEG preview image will be created for use

Can you import jpegs into Livetype as fonts?
I have a logo, in which I have broken up all the letters into separate jpegs, so I can animate them in. Unfortunately Motion has limited animation for objects that are not fonts, and as far as I can tell, livetype will not animate anything but fonts. Can someone help me figure out how to...I guess create a font in which these different jpegs would make up the letters of the font, and import that into livetype? Thank you!
You pose and interesting question. Live Type works best when you use the exisiting fonts provided in the program
Yes you can import jpegs into Live Type and you can use the pre-fabricated effects to animate them if you please, you can even modify many of the effects.
If you have a just a few elements of a logo you may be able to create what you want relatively fast. You can do this in Motion as well, where you have more control, although IMO the learning curve is steeper in Motion. For that matter you could keyframe and animate in Final Cut Pro as well.
If you choose to try this in Live Type then go to File>Place and select each of you jpegs indivudually.
Good luck and post back if youhave more questions -
Iphoto crashes importing jpegs
Hi-
My iphoto keeps crashing when I'm trying to import photos from the desktop that I have altered in Photoshop. It was importing them with no problems and now it keeps crashing.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
G5 Mac OS X (10.4.8)I've encountered a similar problem attempting to import jpegs produced from scanned photos (canoscan 8400F), which I have done successfully in the past. I still can import photos from my camera. The "unexpectedly quit" report follows. Any ideas?

Resolution of Imported jpegs, especially with text, is terrible.
I'm importing jpegs built @ 1280 x 720 pixels. In the viewer the text is crisp, but when it's put into the sequence, it loses all quality. I'm not sure what my sequence settings should be on. Under Sequence settings I've been using "DV NTSC 48 Khz Anamorphic" .I export using quicktime conversion using the "best" settings.
ThanksNot sure how or where to make that happen. To create a sequence that's 1280x720, would that be under easy setup's, "HDV-Apple intermediate codec 720p30?
I'll eventually be exporting video to be placed in an html document with a flash player. -
Help Importing New Pictures & Text in Document
Dear Adobe Customer Service,
I just purchased your servcie and would greatly appreciate your help importing new photos and text in the document that has been changed from pdf to docx. I have a Mac and when attempting to change or update photos or text in the document the alignment is totally off and will not allow.
Can you please help? Please call me and walk me through the process. If this matter cannot be resolved I will need to cancel my subscription and get a full refund.
Thank You
Dr. Joy Macci
214-223-3738OK, if this is a template file and you are trying to customize a single word, or a list of words that are always in the same places (I was thinking at first that you want to change words in one part of a paragraph if some other trigger word appeared), like a form letter that needs to have the recipients name inserted, then you can use either a custom text variable or Data Merge.
For one-off production the variable is probably easier -- just redifine the text string each time you make a new copy, but if you have a list of words and want to make a copy for each one in a single session, Data Merge would be more efficient. -
Unable to Edit Imported Jpeg files.
I'm currently using iPhoto 9.6 and OS 10.10. I have created jpg stills from .mov projects using QT Pro and imported them successfully into a previous version of iPhoto where I was able to crop them and make rudimentary color and exposure adjustments. With the new iPhoto 9.6 I cannot. I get an error message "Image Cannot Be Edited. The original format is not supported."
So I am assuming the only way to edit these imported jpegs is to open them in Lightroom or Photoshop make my adjustments and then attempt to re-import them into iPhoto or maybe just stop using iPhoto all together for this kind of file?Yes "master" copies of files - those located in the iPhoto >>package contents >> Masters folder organized by import date - once they have been edited from within iPhoto (exposure corrections, cropping, straightening, etc) become the master copies.
Bewilderingly vague. They are the masters. They are never edited. The photos are edited and the results recorded in the SQL database. The never "become the Master copies". They are the Masters and never become anything.
To prove this I have selected a master file from with this directory and created a copy of it on the desktop where I gave it a new name, then re-imported it to iPhoto and re-opened it there. It is a virtual clone of the original edited file - edited from within iPhoto save for its name - an "edited master".
If you made a copy of a Master then it's not a virtual clone it's an actual clone. "It is a virtual clone of the original edited file" Huh? What's an "original edited file"? It's a Master or something else? Which is it? There is no concept in iPhoto of 'edited Master'. There are Masters. That's the file as imported from your camera. It is never edited. End of story.
Subsequently from within iPhoto I have chosen the original photo - the one that had been modified to begin with - and reverted this file to its original version. So then I had two masters of the same shot - one edited and one in its originally imported state. Why did I do this (and originate this post)?
No you didn't. You had two masters to begin with and thereafter you had two masters at the end. When you reverted to original all you did was delete the edit decisions for the database and destroy a preview. In no case was the Master touched.
The terminology is important because it explains how the app works. You're conflating photos (which are edited in iPhoto) with files (which are never edited in iPhoto), all photo edits are virtual until baked in on export. That's why the concept and the term Master is important. Edited Master means nothing, Master of an Edited Photo does, but that's a different thing.
Because I could not re-edit or export these affected photos unless I first re-imported them to iPhoto by either locating the original files from storage media or making copies of them from iPhoto's package contents>>masters folder as above and importing them back into the iPhoto library. Once I did this - there were a lot of these affected files - I could edit and export to my heart's content. Remember, these files were modified from within earlier versions iPhoto itself. Yes, some files had been converted to jpegs from original PICT exports out QT Pro using Photoshop Elements.
Because your database was corrupted. It has nothing to do with Masters/Versions or anything else. It was broken.
How do I explain this apparent corruption of the iPhoto library database? Disclaimers to the contrary, I put the onus on having to convert the db every time there is an app iteration which is sometimes coupled with an OS upgrade (like with Yosemite). I suspect that the file metadata is susceptible to corruption during these upgrades. It is the only variable in an otherwise static and stable environment that could possibly result in library corruption short of hardware failure.
That's one possibility. Here are some more: anytime the app is interrupted writing to the database - by a crash, hang or even a power surge, bad blocks on a disk - there are many possibilities..
And again, there is no need to convert the db "every time there is an app iteration". There are updates when it is not necessary. And, as I keep on saying, OS upgrades make no difference. It's app upgrades only. -
Imported JPEG images are too light
Imported JPEG images appear lighter/brighter than the scanned image.
How can I make JPEG images appear with the correct lightness/brightness so they look like the actual book or magazine from which they were scanned?
Using Apple's "Preview" to look at a JPEG- everything looks fine. But when a JPEG is imported into Motion 4.0.3 (and/or Final Cut Pro 7.0.3), the image appears lighter/brighter, as if it's washed out. To see if this is just the way a JPEG appears in Motion and not how the finished product will be, I exported a Motion project with one or more JPEGs as a QuickTime movie. The QuickTime movie does not bring the JPEG image(s) back to the "correct" lightness/brightness as the scanned image.
Settings used:
JPEG image, using a CanoScan LiDE 210 scanner, Color Space: RGB, Color Profile: sRGB IEC61966-2.1, current Monitor Gamma setting on the scanner is set to 1.80
How can I make JPEG images appear in Motion (and Final Cut Pro) so they are true to the source from which they were scanned?Does it do the same thing when you use TIFFs?

Imported JPEG causes ptroblems when publishing
Still have problems with publishing a FLA with an imported
JPEG as a
background.
It is published OK several times and then on athe next
attempt to publish it
slows down and throws a message that the computer run out of
virtual memory
and will take it from some other processes. This takes a
couple of minutes
nd then the resulting SWF is about 10 times the size it was
before and shows
no backgrownd.
The JPEG is still in the FLA, but it is empty.
I delete is completely, import again - same story - compiles
well only
several first times.
Tries it with other JPEGs - same result.
Without JPEG thisfla compiles without problems
The JPEG in question is a photo taken by low resolution
digital camera, 1276
by 958 pixel and 330 KThe size of main fla file in which I am importing the image
is 2.5Mb
Version of Flash is 8, AS version 2
I cannnot see file size abnormality here.
The most puzzling is that after I remove and re-import the
image it compiles
well several times? before the problem repeats. It looks like
something is
accumulationg over repeated publishing.
Or my code might have some hidden side effect which does
something with the
