Ask help About Create Direct Database Request
Hi, all.
When I using the Create Direct Database Request, how can I specify a variable which can used to receive multiple input value?
My SQL like this:
select... from table t1 where t1.c1 in('@{v_c1}{001})
where, v_c1 is the variabe name, 001 is the defaut value of the variable.
But, it doesn' work.
If it's the systax error, then how can I correct it?
Thank you in advance.Hi katherine,
Your connection pool should look like this "DEV_BI"."Connection Pool"
Second thing is go to Administration/Manage privileages/Direct database privileage is there.
If you want to use variables into your SQL query follow this link
http://bintelligencegroup.wordpress.com/2010/08/26/how-to-use-the-presentation-variable-in-direct-database-request/
Hope it helps you.

Help with creating a database instance and populating it
the project given to me is to create a database and populate it in berkeley DB. use that as the backend to the Oracle Business Intelligence tool and run some tests.
with other databases like oracle, sybase and teradata, there were user interfaces both GUI and CLI to create a database. they provides sql interfaces for DDL/DML execution to create objects and populate them. basically these utilities helped me do my project successfully. but in berkeley DB i find very minimal utilities and they dont correspond to those provided by other databases.
is there an interface in berkeley db for sql execution
in general how do i create database and populate data in berkeley db
thanks
[email protected]Hi Prasanna,
is there an interface in berkeley db for sql executionNo, Berkeley DB does not provide an SQL interface. It is a library that can be used to store and retrieve key/data pairs in a database. The Berkeley DB reference guide is a good place to look if you want to get an overview of Berkeley DB functionality:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/berkeley-db/db/ref/toc.html
in general how do i create database and populate data in Berkeley db You generally need to write code to do that. There are a number of programming language bindings provided for Berkeley DB, including a Perl binding. So you can write your testing code in the Perl scripting language if that suits you.
If you intend to measure performance I would recommend using the C or C++ APIs to build your application. The best way to become familiar with using Berkeley DB is with the Getting started guides found here:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/berkeley-db/db/index.html
Or by familiarizing yourself with the example applications that are shipped with the source distribution.

Need Help in creating Unix Shell Script for database
Would be appreciable if some one can help in creating unix shell script for the Oracle DB 10,11g.
Here is the condition which i want to implement.
1. Create shell script to create the database with 10GB TB SPACE and 3 groups of redo log file(Each 300MB).
2. Increase size of redolog file.
3. Load sample schema.
4. dump the schema.
5. Create empty db (Script should check if db already exists and drop it in this case).
6. Create backup using rman.
7. restore backup which you have backed up.This isn't much of a "code-sharing" site but a "knowledge-sharing" site. Code posted me may be from a questioner who has a problem / issue / error with his code. But we don't generally see people writing entire scripts as responses to such questions as yours. There may be other sites where you can get coding done "for free".
What you could do is to write some of the code and test it and, if and when it fails / errors, post it for members to make suggestions.
But the expectation here is for you to write your own code.

I have installed oracle8iR2 on a mandrake 7.1, but when I create a datebase, it tell me ora-03114 using dbassitant, when I use svrmgrl to create the database, it tell me, ora-00445, that PMON not start up. Who can help me? (I have successfully installed one one a laptop.)
nullFirst, I followed the posting from http://www.arsdigita.com/ad-training/acs-install/oracle
Next, I noticed that the /etc directory needed to be included in the PATH statement. Also, The entire installation went much better when done under Gnome GUI. Best of Luck!

CraigApologies, I resolved this myself. Was not obvious and no error logs indicated what the problem was.
Turns out that the initial configuration of tablespace data files was incorrect. Even though it matched the correct size it tried creating them as 1 file and subsequently ran out of file system space.
After realising this I changed the values and adjusted the tablespaces post creation.
Thanks anyway.
Cheers

Help I need to Create a Database Schema
Hello Forum, I am sured that I have misunderstood something fundamental.I have created a database called PUS with Database Configuration Assistant, this database is located Network/databases/.(Network/databases/PUS)
Then I want to created a new Schema under PUS, like SCOTT Schema, that I will use toadFree to connect to,
how do I do that ?
Help and thanksyou can use toad if you like, or you can use the sql*plus editor that comes with an oracle installation. Connect to the database with a user with dba priviliges - either sys or system.
To create a schmea , for example scott, issue the following command from the sql prompt:
SQL>create user scott identified by tiger
default tablespace <tablespace_name>
temporary tablespace <temporary tablespace_name>
Replace <tablespace_name> with the tablespace you would like scotts objects to be created in by default.
Replace <temporary tablespace name>, with the name of the temporary tablespace in your database.
After this grant the necessary, roles, privileges to scott, to get you on your way - grant the following two roles:
SQL>grant connect,resource to scott;

I basically have an excel sheet with a list of countries calling from (with corresponding amounts with it) and list of countries calling to (with corresponding amounts with it). And basically the two numbers (calling from and calling to) have to be added to get the rate per min. An example of a rate calculator that i want to create is: http://www.globenettroaming.com/Rates.php but like i said, i only need a calling from country drop down list and a calling to country drop down list and a calculate button.
I really REALLY would appriciate any help. All i know is that i have to asp - and thats it. Please explain how i would create this database and create a form query on a web page.
Thank you A LOT!mmmm, not much - i've just been reading up on the topic so im just begining to learn it all. Well, i could use access BUT i dont know where to start and how to put in all the data etc... The hosting company i use uses mysql (????) - i havent even an idea of where to start. How to create a Database - Please Help!
Hi everyone, I would like to create a database program for a video store and have a simple web page as the interface between the user and the database.
I would like to be able to do the following with the database:
Add new film details
Delete Film Details
Edit already existing film details
Search the database for a keyword (Star of film, Director)
Search the database for a certain title
The data I would like the Database to store is:
Title of film
Star of film
Director of film
Release Date
Number of copies in stock.
This is for a university assignment, the problem is that I don't know where to begin such a program, can anyone point me in the direction of any good books that covers this topic.
Thanks everyone
NoelHave you got your table design done yet ? Do you have to use Java ? What resources have you got available ? Do you have access to an infrastruture like Oracle, PL/SQL and Apache ? If so, you can use mod_plsql from Apache to link up with Oracle. You will need to write packages in PL/SQL to generate the HTML. The servlet option is more involved.

Oracle 10g Help?Create database error
I am unable to run a script createDB having command create database kmaa.I open up SQL*Plus, connect and login without any trouble as well. When I try to create a database I get the following:
SQL> CREATE DATABASE kmaa;
CREATE DATABASE kmaa
Error at line 1:
ORA-01501: CREATE DATABASE failed
ORA-01100:database already mounted
Any idea?Hi Pete,
Oracle Express Edition creates a database automatically when you install it and the product is limited to one database instance per machine. Perhaps you are confusing users/schemas with what you may term a database. An Oracle database instance can be broken down into logical units called users or schemas. If you wish to create a database of books, you should create a user called books and then log on as this user and create your database objects. To make things simpler, Oracle XE comes with a browser interface based on Application Express. You can use this to create schemas, database objects and applications (forms reports etc) to access and manage those objects. Further to this you should RTFM.

Steps to create LOGICAL DATABASE in sap
hi guys,
i have gone through many documents about LDB. But, i didnt get the steps to create a LDB.
plz provide me with the steps to be followed to create a LDB.
thnx,
shivaa.Hi Shiva,
This might help you!
Logical database structures
There are three defining entities in an SAP logical database. You must be clear on all three in order to create and use one.
Table structure: Your logical database includes data from specified tables in SAP. There is a hierarchy among these tables defined by their foreign keys (all known to SAP), and you are going to define a customized relationship between select tables. This structure is unique and must be defined and saved.
Data selection: You may not want or need every item in the referenced tables that contributes to your customized database. There is a selection screen that permits you to pick and choose.
Database access programming: Once youu2019ve defined your logical database, SAP will generate the access subroutines needed to pull the data in the way you want it pulled.
Creating your own logical database
ABAP/4 (Advanced Business Application Programming language, version 4) is the language created by SAP for implementation and customization of its R/3 system. ABAP/4 comes loaded with many predefined logical databases that can construct and table just about any conventional business objects you might need in any canned SAP application. However, you can also create your own logical databases to construct any custom objects you care to define, as your application requires in ABAP/4. Hereu2019s a step-by-step guide:
1. Call up transaction SLDB (or transaction SE36). The path you want is Tools | ABAP Workbench | Development | Programming Environment | Logical Databases. This screen is called Logical Database Builder.
2. Enter an appropriate name in the logical database name field. You have three options on this screen: Create, Display, and Change. Choose Create.
3. Youu2019ll be prompted for a short text description of your new logical database. Enter one. Youu2019ll then be prompted to specify a development class.
4. Now comes the fun part! You must specify a root node, or a parent table, as the basis of your logical database structure. You can now place subsequent tables under the root table as needed to assemble the data object you want. You can access this tree from this point forward, to add additional tables, by selecting that root node and following the path Edit | Node | Create. Once youu2019ve saved the structure you define in this step, the system will generate the programming necessary to access your logical database. The best part is you donu2019t have to write a single line of code.
Watch out!
The use of very large tables will degrade the performance of a logical database, so be aware of that trade-off. Remember that some tables in SAP are very complex, so they will be problematic in any user-defined logical database.
Declaring a logical database
Hereu2019s another surprising feature of logical databases: You do not assign them in your ABAP/4 Code. Instead, the system requires that you specify logical databases as attributes. So when you are creating a report, have your logical database identifier (the name you gave it) on hand when you are defining its attributes on the Program Attributes screen. The Attributes section of the screen (the lower half) will include a Logical database field, where you can declare your logical database.
Logical databases for increasing efficiency
Why else would you want to create a logical database? Consider that the logical databases already available to you begin with a root node and proceed downward from there. If the data object you wish to construct consists of items that are all below the root node, you can use an existing logical database program to extract the data, then trim away what you donu2019t want using SELECT statementsu2014or you can increase the speed of the logical database program considerably by redefining the logical database for your object and starting with a table down in the chain. Either way, youu2019ll eliminate a great deal of overhead.
Reward if useful.
Thankyou,
Regards. -
Request time out when creating content database
Hello,
my problem is, that i cannot create a SharePoint content database via the central administration.
My Setup is the following:
SharePoint Server 2013 Enterprise Farm
1x Applikation Server/WFE (Windows Server 2012 SP 1)
1x Database Server MSSQL Server 2012 (Windows Server 2012 SP 1)
1x TFS 2013 (Windows Server 2012 SP 1)
all of them are hosted in the same Hyper-V Environment. It is not the fasted Hyper-V Environment existing on planet earth.
The weirdest part of the problem is, i am able to create a content database via powershell.
I am running in some kind of time out issue related to the IIS and CA of that Applikation Server.

The fact that i am able to create a content database through powershell sorts out permissions problems. I am certain of that because the w3wp.exe and the powershell.exe used for both creations were run under the same user.
The timeout always happens aroud 120 seconds after i started the creation. The creation via powershell takes about 3,5 minutes.
Here for the folks that ask me, why i haven't asked google or bing or some other search engine.
I tried the solutions suggested here
http://www.sharepointpals.com/post/Error-while-Creating-Web-Application-through-Central-Administration , here
http://anthonyspiteri.net/sharepoint-2010-web-ui-timeout-creating-web-application-quick-fix/ and here
http://blogs.ibs.com/Duane.Odum/Lists/Posts/Post.aspx?ID=33
which i thought pointed me to the right solution.
But those post unfortunatly didnt worked out.
I also tried to alter the web.config files (i know that isn't recommended or supported, but it didn't change anything so those are back to normal as well)
So here are my question:
Can you guys help me solve this issue?
Are there any other places where timeouts can be managed or defined?
P.S.: I am new to using this forum. so pls don't crucify me for doing a mistake.
P.S.S: My english is very poor also :D
With best regards
SimonBe careful with settings like these because there may be a much deeper issue at hand. I have had an issue with a customer that manifests itself as a timeout on a site collection. It was very hard to track since it didn't happen frequently. We engaged Microsoft
Support to find out the root cause but all they could point at is a general network issue that pertains to authentication. After digging deeper, we found out that the network issue was caused by a saturated network connectivity to the domain controller that
impacts a site collection when the database is making an authentication call. Keep this solution as more of a quick fix but be sure to conduct a deeper investigation of the real root cause

Need help to create report with jpeg/gif image
Hello,
I need help with creating a form with a special jpeg/gif seal. I never done this Java. Until now, I created all forms with ansi C++ with HP escape characters to draw lines, boxs, and text. This form will contain boxes which is populated with database information read from a text file.
Since this form contains a special seal on the upper right, I don't think it can be done with old fashion ansi C++. How can I create a form with Java and create it as a simple exe to just print the form to a specified printer.
Thanks,
JohnHi,
I am creating a form with boxes (lines and text). What is special about this form is that it has an image jpeg or gif at the top right corner. Is is a state department seal. Up to this form, I had used ansi C++ and print out escape HP character to print out the lines, boxes, and text. I have no idea how to print out the image. I am new to JAVA and only 1 class in it. Is there sample code out there to create this type of form with the image? I need a starting point.
Thanks,
John -
Sharepoint server 2013 configuration issue - failed to create configuration database
Hi All,
I have installed the SharePoint server 2013. After installing the SharePoint products, the configuration stops at failure of creating configuration database.
Some system configuration & info:
- 1 Domain controller server run Active Directory services on Windows server 2008 R2 SP1 (PC1 with name DC.Brainfiniti.com)
- 1 Server which is used for installing Sharepoint server 2013 and MS SQL server 2008 R2 SP1 (PC2 with name App.Brainfiniti.com)
- All of PCs were satisfied the requirement of Sharepoint server 2013
- Firewall turned off & No antivirus tool was installed.
- During installing of Sharepoint, choose "Complete" option: Farm mode and use SQL Server instead of SQL Express.
- During configuration, created a new farm with a domain user account.
- Use domain account to log on and install, configure in Sharepoint & SQL server (PC2)
ATTEMPTS:
1. Tried install and set up all of steps with just 1 account - domain administrator.
2. Tried with separate domain account:
- SQL Service account use for:
+ Install SQL server 2008
+ Connect all SQL services
+ Admin for SQL server
- Setup account use for:
+ Member of local administrator group in PC2
+ Install Sharepoint
+ Run Configuration wizard
+ Was granted permission in SQL database: dbcreator, securityadmin, sysadmin and deselect serveradmin role.
+ Was choose for the database account in configuration database step
Also tried with SQL service account in this step.
3. Tried with Standalone mode for Sharepoint installing
4. Trie with domain name: Brainfiniti.local
5. Tried with some another solution from topic relate to database configuration in our community but not successful.
But all attempts are failed at this configuration database step :'(
Please correct me if I am going wrong by missing something or do I need to start/install some services.
