Help in default monthly report

Question

Hi all,
   I want to generate a report in which the user can specify the reporting period in days(from date and to date)and if he doesn't specify anything I want  a default monthly report of the previous month(If he runs the query on 10 FEB he should get a report of January(1st to 31st))

Hi,
1) Take  a KF two times into columns.
2) Double click on first KF taken into columns area and Drag and drop 0CALDAY to right hand side.And restrict 0CALDAY with user entry varaible(letss say VAR1) with not mandatory.
3) Hide the above first KF taken into columns area.So it is only used to take the input from user.
4) Double click on Seond KF taken into columns area and Drag and drop 0CALDAY to right hand side.And restrict 0CALDAY with a Cusstomer  Exit varaible(letss say VAR2) with mandatory.
5) In the code of VAR2, you will assign the values of VAR1 to VAR2 if VAR! is not equal to ZERO. If VAR1 is zero, you will assign previous month( to current date) strt date and End date of previous month( to current date) to VAR2.
