Help in obtaining results from database

i have a column containing value as abc's
but when i retrieve this value from the database using
rs.getString("columnname")
i get only abc and not abc's.
what is the problem

here is the code:
topicname in the database contains value say "abc's"

the result that is stored in topic is only abc and not abc's

Help with dynamic checkbox from database results

I am creating some dynamic checkboxes from the results of a database read to sqlite. I am able to get the data and the correct number of checkboxes is being created but I'm having a problem populating the labels for the checkboxes. Here is the section of code that gets the results from the database and creates the checkboxes.

This was answered on another forum for me.
The line cb.label = obj.toString();
needed to be changed to the data.
cb.label=obj.myDatabaseFieldName;
myDatabaseFieldName would be whatever column you are pulling the data in from and should be the actual name in the table.

Help with Retrieve attributes from database

Hi,
I'm using filter "Retrieve from or write to database" with select query from database by selecting attributes as column names radio button.
I'm unable to get these user attributes with column names.
For eg : select tag from test_tag where rownum=1;
I was trying so that result can be used using tag attribute (${tag}).
Please help in this regard.

Hi Vani,
After the retrieve filter, add a Trace Filter and leave it as it is. Execute the policy once and in the trace data that now will be displayed there you should be able to read out the exact name and type of the parameter. This way of identifying data/parameters etc is a recommended way of working while developing! Copy paste the Trace Data from the Trace filter here if you need help!

Extract results from database

I want to be able to re-create a test report from the results database and do statistical analysis on the results of specific tests. Are there any querries or other database tools that have already been developed for this?

As far I know there aren't any tools developed specifically for this kind of a task. However depending on the environment you're using there will probably be tools developed for easily retrieving information from databases.
In TestStand we have SQL step types that allow you to easily retrieve data from databases. There are two examples that ship with TestStand I would suggest looking at in addition to the help for these step types.
C:\Program Files\National Instruments\TestStand 3.1\Examples\Database
(This path will vary depending on the version of TestStand and your installation directory.)
If you're using LabVIEW or LabWindows/CVI we have special tools developed to simplify communicating to databases.

There are also lots of examples available by searching our website.
If you're using another environment there are probably tools available as well, I just don't know enough to recommend any.

Need HELP to pass results from procedure

Hey Gurus,
I need your help. I got a package (test) and inside the package two procedures (step1, step2). Now I want to pass the results from the procedure step1 (stat_rec.lev, stat_rec.chi_sq, stat_rec.chi_sig) to the other procedure step2 and make a select with where-clause. How can I manage this?? Got someone a idea??

I'm developing a web application that will use a considerable number of database queries that need to be displayed back to the web-browser in HTML table format.
I have been told that that result sets can allow tables to be built automatically without having to write the same loop and display code over and over.

Looks like you are passing a string (SELECT * FROM USERS) instead of passing a ResultSet. Try passing a Resultset.

Help with ComboBox, datasource from database

Hi there,
i am new to Flex technology and desperately need help with
combobox.
I have a combobox in my app and the datasource comes from
MySQL database. I use a PHP script to populate the combobox. Say in
the datatabse table, I have the following result:
id name
1 dog
2 cat
3 horse
In the app, the combobox will have the list as the name of
the animals: dog, cat, horse. But when the user selects dog, how do
I get the selected id 1 instead of the label "dog".

Same query takes different time to fetch result from Database

Hi all,
I am having a scenario in which a query is taking different time keeping other environmental variables constant.
When that query runs for 1 user it takes just 2 minutes to fetch result and the DB connection becomes inactive after fetching the result.
But if I run the same query after some time in similar environment it takes 25 minutes. sometimes 40 minutes to execute and give the result to the app server from the same database.
I am not able to understand this behavior from DB. Can anybody try to explain this behavior?
The details of the DB are,
Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.1.0 - Production
PL/SQL Release 11.2.0.1.0 - Production
CORE 11.2.0.1.0 Production
TNS for 32-bit Windows: Version 11.2.0.1.0 - Production
NLSRTL Version 11.2.0.1.0 - Production
OS Details:
Windows 2008 server Enterprise Edition.

Get results from database for the last one week ?

Hi All,
I have to make a query for retrieving the data for the last one week from a table say "Orderdata".
So can anybody please tell me how to retrieve date of last weak from the current date. I mean if current date is 12/08/2004 (mm/dd/yyyy) then I would be needing date as :--
12/01/2004 (mm/dd/yyyy) to 12/07/2004 (mm/dd/yyyy).
To more clear, here is the query that am using :
select * from orderdata where orderdate between 12/01/2004 AND 12/07/2004
I know I would be needing java.sql.timestamp class to set date . but it is the last thing to do .
First I have to get date of last weak...........

Need help in reading data from Database.

Hi experts,
I have created a custom smartforms and custom print program. In my print program i have read all the data and populated the internal table and i am able to display the data in the smartform output.
I'm using Tcode me23n to print preview the form. i have to read the "text" tab from the me23n tcode using FM "READ_TEXT". The data is getting populated into an internal table. I coded these statements in Initialization tab in global definition.
Now my problem is ..... Can anyone tell me how to display the data into the forms.

Help with displaying info from database+asp

How can I display info from a database so that it is
formatted into rows in a table

To do it properly you would set up two tables. The first
would contain the
topics and be something like this
topicID
topicName
Then you would have a second table that would hold the
content like this
contentID
contentName
topicID
The last field links this table to the topic.
To display them you would link the topics into a master list,
and then pass
the topicID to the page displaying the content and use the
topicID as a
filter on the content table.

Inconsistent results from database calls

Hi all I was wondering if anyone would be able to come up with some possible ideas as to why my application is inconsistently retrieving data from a database. I have an application that is pulling information from a database. These calls can be made repetitively pulling the same information over and over again. The quandry that I am faced with is why the application would pull the right data most of the time, but occasionally not pull the correct values.
I have consided the following:
blocking - all of the calls are read only and scroll insensitive so I doubt this is the case
Limited number of connections
Seems like apossibility but then I would expect an error to be thrown.
Actions happening to fast
I was thinking perhaps the cycle is completing before everything has had a chance to finish the last set - is that a possibility ?
I can't post the code, so I am just looking for any general thoughts or ideas on the topic, if nothing thanks anyways.

Thank you both for your thoughts. The transactions is definately not a possibility (at least as I understand) as this is on read information only, there is no commits nor any updates being completed by this method.
I will continue to hunt down this little bugger. The biggest issue is that it is one behemoth of a method that should not exist, but unfortunately does.

Help w/ editing entries from database

I have an admin page that lists names and addresses from my
database. The page also has links to edit and delete entries. There
are a few drop down boxes for each entry. ie - one of the boxes
lists all the states. To edit the state, just click on the correct
one. The problem is when I choose to edit one complete entry (name,
address, city, etc), the drop down boxes all change and if I hit
Submit without correcting the changes, the changed values are saved
into the database. So, my question is: How do I make the edit page
show the previously entered value?
BTW - I tried selecting "initially selected" in property
inspector, but that does the same thing.

Change the xx to tt and there are two files: a list page and
an edit page.
If you start with the list page, note the city and state for
each one. If you click on the EDIT link, it takes you to the edit
page. If you notice the default city and state are always the same.
What I would like is for the city and state to show what is in the
database already, not the same thing each time. That is, for the
first one in the list view, the city/state is Spring/MA. If you
click EDIT, I would like the drop down boxes to show Spring/MA, not

I have 500 records in the sql server 2000 then i query and retrieve them in a resultsets. and then i want to display 10 records per page having the facility to navigate to the Previous and Next Record also going to first and the last record.

for your task there is nice keyword in MySQL:
LIMIT [offset,] rows
maybe MSSQL has something similar...
though i haven't seen such a keyword in oracle nor postgre... nor mssql (but i haven't looked for it from there...)
one way would be to skip first X results in resultset... in PyML i have used method .skip(count) for skiping count rows, but i'm not sure that in java there is equivalent for that, so you might have to just call ResultSet.next() for count times, and then ten more times to get desired data for your page.

Need help in retrieving data from database table

But I want to retrieve the ztable data in the order in which i enter data in to table.

When i retrieve this data internal table should be filled in the same order.

You will need to change your table to use a number as the first key field (after the client) which you increase by 1 each time you make a new entry. Alternatively you can add a data/time stamp to the end of your table and use this to sort your internal table once you've extracted the records.
