HELP! iPod mini can't turn on!

I have tried ways to turn my mini on but it still cant be turned on. its's not even under hold. what do I do?

Yea I just went through the same problem - let it sit for a couple days w/o charging it, then try again to charge it from whatever source you have for charging. I know this may sound strange but it has worked for me after I completely depleted the battery. Yea I tried to reset thing 2 but how do you that when it won't even turn on??? If that don't work try it on another computer with a different cable than yours if possible - you know try to eliminate all the possibilities.

IPod Mini Refuses to Turn on {HELP!!}

I have had my iPod mini for almost a year now.It has always worked and been wonderful up till last week. I tried to turn it on, and it wouldn't work. So I got on this site and I looked up what others did.
I made sure that there was no other device hooked up to the USB and then connected (it didn't turn on). I tried to charge using the wall cord charger (it didn't turn on). I tried to "reset" it by leaving it be for 24 hours before trying to charge it again (it didn't turn on). I check to see if the hold button was on before attempting any of the solutions, and it wasn't...so I know that it's not that.
I also read about battery drainage, but my iPod won't even turn on and it wasn't showing any of the symptoms that battery drainage has (saying it's charged and then dieing).
I haven't dropped my iPod in a very long time either.I'm really worried that it's permanently damaged.
I really can't afford another iPod, so I am depending on you guys, please, any advice might help.

I just read in fine print in an obscure part of support site that only the ipod mini can be charged with the "supplied" cable? Is this true? No, come on really? But, I...I,I,I just paid 500 clams for the top of the line shiznit and it doesn't come with any kind of charger? Is apple gonna send me back to the store? No way,I thought apple was down for the little guy...I gotta go buy an A/C charger? 30 more duckets?

your ipod doesnt need a power ac cable. Every time you connect ur ipod to your pc, it should start charging the batterie auto matically. Just leave your pc on all night long with the ipod connected, and in the morning your good to go!

Please help - ipod mini frozen - can't reset or restore!

I saw several posts on this topic, and followed the advice given. I've tried to reset the ipod by toggling the hold switch and then holding down the menu and select button at the same time (at least 20x's, and being careful to only hold down the correct buttons). Not having luck with resetting, I tried to do a restore, however when I start to run the ipod updater, and it asks me to connect the ipod, the updater doesn't recognize it.
It's frozen in the pause position at the start of a song and nothing I do helps! Although it's still under warranty I really don't want to have to send it in to apple, so I sure hope someone can help me.

i have called apple and talked to a tech. he said my windows program needed to update to xp2, i did. i then had to reinstall the disc. it was in disc mode. i followed the comands and it said to plug in ipod to update, i did. no dice, didnt recognize hardware. said i needed to try a new usb port. tried all six. said maybe need new cable, i plugged in a new one. no dice. my daughter got her ipod the exact same day i did, same computer same cables same everything. hers works mine doesnt. hearing that even a new ipod didnt work for u makes me not too confident in the ipod mini as a whole. i really want it back. my daughter and i have been sharing hers and she wants me to have mine back!!! HELP APPLE!!! the tech said if it doesnt work i should send it in and gave me the info to mail it. the website he gave me hasnt got any info on requesting a mailing box and warranty service. i only have about two months left on my warranty and i hate to think they are stalling me until it expires. please apple, call me and tell me this isnt true!!!!

Old iPod mini can't be recognized after formatting, and iTunes 'Apple Mobile Device Driver not found.'

My roommate gave me an old iPod Mini a few days ago. It was working fine 'til I plugged it into my computer and it asked me to format it. I did, and now it cannot be recognized by iTunes or my computer. My computer views it as a "removable disk" which cannot be accessed. In devices, it is listed as an Apple iPod though, so I'm hoping not all is lost. I have tried many quick fixes I've read on internet (including changing disk letter) but to no avail. I have reinstalled the new iTunes and now that is telling me it has not installed properly, and when I ran diagnostics, it reads that the Apple Mobile Device Driver not found. I will copy & paste all the info from the diagnostic run below, and if anybody can help me with my new (old) iPod, I'd be everly greatful!

OMG same thing here; rather annoyed and now have set up accounts on 2 comps(both 64 vista ultimate); about to try my 32 bit vista on my lappy; we'll see... i don;t have high hopes thoush.

IPod Nano cant do what iPod Mini can

My brother has an iPod Mini, and in iTunes, he can drag a video file right onto his iPod mini and he will get the audio from that video on his iPod. I tried the exact same video, the exact same way, and nothing happens. Why is this?

Yeah, but my bro didnt hack or do anything to his mini, he just clicked and dragged movies onto his iPod icon, and they came out as audio files. wierd. Dont feel like breaking my iPod for some wierd reason . Thanx for the help.

Brand New IPod Mini - Can't mount iPod from IPod Updater

Just bought a brand new IPOD mini. When I try to use the IPod Updater, I get an error message "Can't mount iPod".
Windows XP Services shows IPOD services is started.
The IPOD appears in My computer as "Removalable Disk".
Also, my IPOD does not appear in iTunes.

This is a very reasonable strategy. It has been previously used for USB problems with battery charging.

A synopsis of it is as follows:
"For best results, try not to use computer ports to charge your iPod. USB is especially sensitive to how many devices are on it and what the resulting bus voltage is. It may even display the charging icon but not be adding much to the battery. USB versions prior to 2.0 will not charge your iPod (and probably be too slow for its other functions). Even USB 2.0 is limited to 700 milliamps and an iPod "likes" to see one full amp for charging, plus some to spin the HD while mounted. Some (early) iPod models will not charge from USB, period. Some PCs use 4-pin Firewire cables (all Macs are 6-pin) which carry no charging voltage, so they won't work at all for recharging and can allow your iPod to run down and cause serious problems while updating firmware, restoring, or loading songs. Both USB and Firewire require the iPod to be mounted by your computer as an external drive, which means the iPod's HD is spinning, using some of the juice that the battery might like to have. And if the computer sleeps or is turned off, the battery won't charge and in some cases will actually drain through the port circuits. Bottom line: if your ports are not doing a good job of charging your battery, use the wall adapter to charge for several cycles before questioning the battery's credentials. If you have a new iPod which only comes with USB, don't panic; it can work fine. But if you do experience problems, either take everything else off the USB bus (except mouse & keyboard) and/or get an AC adapter."

IPod Mini Won't Turn Off

HELP! The iPod mini (about three months old, 4GB) will not turn off. It was fine until today. I have followed all the rest instruction, but it's still stuck on "on". The guidance in in the on-line mannual is -- well, you guessed it -- useless. Any ideas?

First make sure you have not locked it or put it on
hold, (check the top of it to see).
If that does not work try to hold down the pause/play
button for a few seconds, or reset it by holding down
the menu button and the select button for a few
seconds.

IPod mini can't see firewire power adapter after 1.4.1 update

I updated my mini to the (infamous) 1.4.1 update, and now my firewire connection doesn't appear to work. When plugged into the computer with the firewire cable, mini doesn't appear on desktop or in iTunes, though it will start recharging the battery. When firewire power adapter is plugged into dock or into mini to try to recharge, it doesn't work. I purchased a new firewire cable & adapter but it's behaving the same way. USB cable to computer works fine (mini shows up on desktop and in iTunes). I've tried the Reset, Retry Restart, Reinstall, Restore. protocol several times with no success. I've tried Resetting the mini while plugged into the firewire power adapter. No luck.
Any suggestions?
Is there a way to uninstall this update?

Need your help...can't turn on if connected to internet

i was given an older toshiba satellite laptop by one of my children. it has been loaded with windows XP. i have high speed internet thru a modem. if i turn my laptop on with the ethernet cable plugged in, i get an error screen ending in "TFTP open timeout" (the screen is 7 lines long...i can type it all in if it will help.) however, if i turn it off, disconnect the ethernet cable, and turn it back on, i get my lovely desktop, ready to go. If i then plug in the ethernet cable, i can connect to the internet. is there some setting that i can change to avoid this problem? any help will be greatly appreciated. you can e-mail me at [email protected] brenda

That appears to be because the boot priority is set to network/PXE instead of the internal HDD. Next time you start the computer immediately start pressing the <ESC>, <F1>, or <F2> key. I don't know which one of these works for your particular machine. You'll see somewhere on the menu something regarding boot priority. You may have to change to other parts of the menu you see it. Change the boot priority setting to boot from the internal HDD first. Again different machines have different menus and verbage, but I'm pretty sure you know it when you see it. Follow the prompts to save the setting.

PLEASE HELP - iPod mini formatted...

I formatted my ipod mini with windows and now the only thing I get on the screen is a picture of a "folder" with a "hazzard" sign and the url: www.apple.com/support/ipod. A lot of good that's done me.
So now in essence it's acting like a removable HDD and nothing more.
I don't need to update the ipod because the updater tells me i have the latest software (1.4) on the ipod and when i try to restore the ipod i get the message "Firmware update failure. Disk write error"
I did manage to get the ipod up in itunes and uploaded a few songs onto the ipod but as soon as it was disconnected the picture of a "folder" with a "hazzard" sign and the url: www.apple.com/support/ipod came back up on screen and the ipod still won't restore.
I've tried practically everything on the apple ipod support pages and i don't know what else to do...

If it's teh iPod 5G video, press and release Pause, then wait ~30 seconds and press and hold Pause.

HELP! I can't turn my new iPod off

I just wanted to up date my iPod but when I connected it to my G5 and went to utilities and clicked on the latest update it said "waiting for iPod to be ready" and on the face of my ipod was "Do Not disconnect". I restarted my G5, forced quit iPod update, turned the hold switch on and off (still don't know when it's on) Held the Menu button down for serveral seconds (no apple logo showed up). And one more question should I ever get back into my iPod, when I click the Eq button it never shows it on just off but it does go to the different settings to choose from even then when I go back to Eq. it shows it being off???
