HELP! Macbook firmware messed with iTunes badly!!!

I just updated the macbook firmware via software update and everything went over smoothly.
After I restarted the computer, I opened up iTunes to listen to music and this is what I saw: (click the link below)

the songs play fine, but all the track names have been changed to some weird unreadable text. The weird thing is that when you single click the track name or artist to edit it, the original title shows up in plain english, but when I press enter, it goes back to the weird text.
another thing, notice on the picture "music" highlighted in the upper left corner is in regular english and when I highlight the other tabs on the sidebar such as podcasts or movies, it changes back to english when its highlighted. note this doesnt happen for songs in the library.
help. anybody. thank you

Upgrading raid firmware messes with drive data?

I need to upgrade both 1.5.0 controllers on one of my x raid so that later I can use then on a second x raid with 750gb drives. the second x raid is having lots of problems losing connection to a xserver and I need to pinpoint to see if it is a controller problem.
the question is. upgrading the 1.5.0 controllers to 1.5.1 messes with the data and settings on a simple raid5 on both sides of the raid storage? I don't have the time and mainly space to backup the data.

No upgrading the controller firmware doesn't affect the drives/arrays or data.
That's not to say you shouldn't have a viable backup of your data, but it's not a prerequesite for updating the firmware. :)

Request help for synching iPod with iTunes after Windows re-install

I recently reformatted my hard-drive. I have installed iTunes. When I plug in my iPod (old Nano), I get a message asking me to "Erase and Sync" or "Transfer Purchases". My iPod has some purchased songs, and many songs ripped from my CD collection (mp3 format). I would like to have the entire iPod contents populate the new (empty) iTunes library. I am guessing that the Transfer option is the best of the two, but am worried about losing songs, since it would be a lot of work to re-rip the non-purchased songs. Will "Transfer Purchases" transfer all music?
I would appreciate any suggestions, before I proceed. Thanks in advance to any replies.

No it won't, it will only do what it says which is to transfer purchases, it won't transfer non-purchased items.

Connect your iPod to your computer. When you get the message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you use our iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod.
The transfer of content sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. As for your purchased songs, the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article but the utilities above will copy both purchased and non purchased songs anyway: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

HELP Syncing ipod touch with itunes on pc

Once ive conected the ipod to the pc and start syncing it puts around 30-70 songs on then an Erorr message comes up, saying "canot read from or write to", the usual message that alot of people seem to be getting.
Just wondering if there is any fix for this or anything you can do to stop it from happening, done all the usual stuff reset, removal of itunes & re install etc. Im really losing my rag with it know and may take it back & get a refund. Any help much appriciated.

I've actually found something very strange happening with the iPod Touch. When I first got it, I was completely happy ... then something went wrong, I had to do a restore. After the restore I had a dimming backlight!! - Something which I'd never had previous to doing the restore. I think my iPod shipped with in-complete firmware (not visable to the naked-eye).
Anyway, to answer your question, I would do just that. I'd click on your iPOd Touch on the left pane in iTunes, and click 'Restore'.
See if syncing is fully 'restored' after this.

HELP!! Issues with iTunes and Windows 8.1.

So I recently upgraded to a new laptop with Windows 8.1 and I have been experiencing some issues that I need assistance with. So far the issues I need help with are:
When I try to get album artwork for my songs, it gets through a small fraction then just kind of freezes.I have a lot of songs and albums but I have never had this problem before.
When I try to connect to the iTunes store, it takes quite awhile and then I am left with either a blank screen or album/song/etc. names and no pictures.And when I click on another link, it takes forever (again) and I experience the same issue while trying to travel to the new page.
I don't know what else to do and I can't figure out a solution. Please help me!!!

just intstalled new update 8.1.3 system shut down and now will not restart. Only give image of blue circle with music note and iTunes logo underneath with a plug leading to it? what does that mean?

It means something didn't go right during the update and your iPad is in Recovery mode. The same thing happened to me during the IOS 8.1 update. You need to connect it to iTunes on your computer, update it, and restore it from your iTunes or iCloud backup. If like me you don't have a computer take your iPad to the Apple Store and they will help you with the Restore process.

Help! iPod messes w/ iTunes 7.0

I need some help guys. I installed the new iTunes 7.0 and it works fine when there is NO iPod plugged in. But as soon as I plug either a 4 gig Nano or 30 gig Video in, it either goes extremely slow or freezes completely. Sometimes I am able to get it to start updating one of the iPods, but then it freezes and I have to end the program and unplug my iPod, and nothing on the iPod has been updated....
My question is, is there any kind of fix for this problem? Or do I have to go back to iTunes 6.# - and if I do this, will I loose my organized library of music? Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out.

Help Network Drive problems with Itunes

Can anyone help me!! I use a Maxtor shared Drive with various Roku soundbridges around my house.
What i want is Itunes to always put my music in my shared storage Drive (HOME:My Music:itunes.i tunes music), but everytime i restart my Machine i get
the standard itunes Directory.(MacintoshHD:users:me:music:itunes:itunes Music)
does anyone know how to solve this

I'm using both itunes for Mac and iTunes for windows, I have a network drive that I have all of my music on. iTunes for windows reconizes the networks drive and all of the music. on iTunes for mac if you go to iTunes, prferences, advance you will find the folder on which all of the music is being stored. Have you tried that?
Further more I have not being able to link my iTunes for Mac to my network drive. when I tried it I had to first look for the network drive, connect to it and then from iTunes look for a folder to add to library. when I did that, itunes tried it to copy all of the music to the computer's hard drive, which I do not want. Do you know how to map a netwrok drive on to a mac computer?

MacBook Pro hangs with iTunes!

I have a huge audio library on a external disc which runs as primary = library disc. I recently startet to make ripps of my DVDs and include them into iTunes to use them with my iPhone. Since I ont have the space on the primary lib disc, I have another disc for the video files - I include those files in the library w/o copying them so they stay on the other disc. So far so good - that worked quite well until recently. Now - after having about 70 GB of movie files the problems started. If I browse through the collection and play one movie for a closer look, close the video window and open the next, after 4 times doing that, the MacBook Pro stalls and I am forced to quit via hardware. Of course I give the MBP enough time to "recover", but it doesn't. Probably a bug in the new version? Too large collection??

My computer (XP) died which had my primary itune library. I was able to copy the content of the hard drive off the computer and load it on my laptop (Vista). How can I transfer the itune files and recreate my itune library on the new laptop? Thanks in advance for someones assistance.

There is a very direct method, which I personally prefer, but there are also numerous third party applications, which will help you accomplish the task as well. You can also do a simple google search for "copy music from iPod to computer" and you should receive a number of sites that can help you out.
When you plug it in, make sure to hit cancel if it opens up iTunes and asks you if you would like to transfer purchses, or erase and sync.

Tried to download Songbird, messed up iTunes bad (Error 13005)

So I wanted to see what songbird was like, so I downloaded it, didn't like it. Tried to go back to iTunes and it keeps giving me:
Unknown Error (13005)
A google search told me to delete my genius tab, it just kept getting recreated every time that I open iTunes back up and the error just comes again. Could it be because I have my music on an external hard drive? What's the deal?

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

Any help for my problem with iTunes 11.2.1 update and "unknown error (-54)"

After downloading iTunes 11.2.1 update I can't get into iTunes Store and keep getting an error message "unknown error (-54)". What does this mean? How do I correct it? No sense in having iTunes if I can't get into the store or my account.

Why is this Itunes such a pile of junk? If I restart my computer I can sometimes find the recently added music in my Itunes Library.
It would be nice to know if other people are having the same problems.
