also - if you're just trying to learn regular expressions - which are generic and very much not specific to oracle, there are plenty of tutorial websites around the place that you'll find by googling.

Hi Experts,
Asking this question just out of curiosity to know the internal concepts.
In a SQL query often we use the in-built Oracle functions like LOWER, UPPER, etc.
In this case, does context-switch happen?
Will I be able to look into the code of these functions after logging into SYS schema as SYSDBA?
FYI - I've Oracle XE 11.2 installed in my home pc (currently in office, so don't have access to it).

In terms of the supplied packages (rather than built in functions), many of those are wrapped by oracle so you can only see the public interface, not the actual body code.

Built-in functions for Forms in Oracle AS 10g

Hi,
We have recently installed form and report services for AS10g.
Altough we have successfully converted and deployed static 6i forms to the server, the built in functions (like CALL FORM etc.) doesn't work.
For instance a form is diplayed and is able to retrieve data but it does actually nothing when a button is pressed with underlying CALL_FORM, SET_WINDOW_PROPERTY functions.
In our developer's devSuite these functions work fine, so I wonder if some service to be added to the server side.
Any help will be appreciated,

If your development and target systems are different make sure you regenerate the FMX files...also make sure you have the correct case....in windows CALL_FORM('FormA') is will call a form called FORMA or ForMA or FORma..if you are deployed on unix or linux this will fail .

How to call the built in functions from flex?

I want to use some of the Built in functions like the twelvesprints.getActivityOwnerId() in flex. From the java example i could make out that we needed to import some classes to do this but was unable to find them for flex.

How to override the built in functions

hi,
how can we override the built-in functions like create, delete in ADF. I need to write a code that would work for the entire data model instead of only the view object in question. There are a set of actions and operations that should be dealt thru the template and only few operations thru the main/master screen.

I have had a third generation iPod touch for three years. It's worked fine sice recent,y when it started looseing battery very fast and every apo including the built in ones like mail and photos have been crashing after about five. I uses of use!!!!

But the main issue is that all my apps (which is why I use the iPod, to play them) crash after using them for 5 minutes, this does include the built in apps like photos and calendar ect.. Unfortunately, your iPad is locked to another account. Unless the original party provides you with the password, then you will not be able to unlock the iPad. Apple will not provide you with the password, that is their rules. Either you return the iPad or find the original owner who probably won't give you the password either, but you can ask.

Using SSRS Built in Functions in SharePoint

Hi there,
I currently have a number of reports deployed on a SharePoint site at work. I would like to monitor who actually uses which report and when they ran the report and also how long the report ran for. This is for auditing purposes and getting an idea
of the performance of these reports.
I came across the following built in functions on SSRS; UserID, ReportName, ReportServerUrl and ExecutionTime. Is it possible to use these functions somehow in SSRS & SharePoint whenever someone accesses a particular report and perhaps write this
information to a SharePoint list within our SharePoint site.
If this is possible, how would I go about doing this?
Also, some of our reports run off parameters, is it possible to capture what parameters were used as well?
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Constrained nonlinear curve fit can properly handle the function like ln(1+b(x-xc)/a) ?

I met some problems about using constrained nonlinear curve fitting vi. It seems to me that this vi can't properly deal with the function like ln(1+b(x-xc)/a), a,b, and xc are the parameters, and b is in the range of 0 and -1. The reason I said that is as I used the other nonlinear fitting function in the other software, like Originlab, the fitting function can work properly.
The error message from LV occurs as 1+b(x-xc)/a is less than zero.
However, due to a,b are both adjustable parameters, how could this situation happen ?
Now I attach the vi files. The attachment includes main vi, mathmatical formula, and an input XY txt file.
I appreciate any help or suggestion from you!!

Actually I have more than 100 XY data set to test my vi. Some of the data set can be fit flawlessly. And the best fit parameters obtained from my vi are exactly the same as those from other analytical software, like OriginLab. In this case, I know my vi is valid. And in this scenario, I also found 1+b(x-xc)/a is always larger than zero with the best fit parameters (a and b). However, for certain XY data set, the error message will pop up if I use LV built-in vi, but I still can obtain the best fit parameters with OriginLab. And then I realized that error message always pops up as 1+b(x-xc)/a is less than zero, which it means to me that as LV built-in vi handles this type mathematical function, this built-in vi will encounter some difficulties.
I will step through my code, and also focus on the Matrix Left DivisionMV.vi, try yo find where the problem is.

[SOLVED] Where are standard library functions like getchar() defined?

I'm new to programming, and I'm curious about the definitions of standard library functions like getchar(), but when I look in stdio.h, all I see are function prototypes. Where is the actual definition? Is it built into the compiler?

Thank you, I think I understand now. Correct me if I'm wrong: stdio.c is source code for glibc, which is compiled into a shared object file that is distributed with the glibc package. My only question would then be: how does the compiler know to link to the object file when it's not explicitly stated. For example when I compile a program, why do I not have to type:
gcc program.c /usr/lib/libc.so
and why does
gcc program.c
suffice?

How to use a mysql built-in function with dataprovider

I want to use a mysql built-in function, for example, MD5() on a column when updating a table with dataprovider.
Something like this doesn't work:

SQL ERROR of "CONCAT is not a recognized built-in function name in SQL"

Normally the function of "CONCAT( )" is used in SQL to combine two strings together.
In SAP B1, however, you get the error message in the Subject line above when you try to use it and there is not much help there as to what to do. The solution is so simple you are going to fall over. I have had so many questions about this one function and several folks have asked me to post this, as they spent hours going through various permutations with no success.
If you have had experience with some other SQL than what is in SAP B1, the following puts the city name and state name from the CRD1 table into one string in the final results:
<b>CONCAT(T0.City, ' ', T0.State) AS Combined City and State,</b>
BUT in SAP B1, the above will error out...so what do you do?
Get down to the real basics and use the plus sign. Go ahead, try it:
<b>(T0.City + ' ' + T0.State) AS 'Combined City and State',</b>
Note that the single quotation marks have a space between them to give you space between the city name and the state name...you could put a comma and a space between the single quotation marks, if you want to.
Can you believe what a simple solution that is? I have pages full of this stuff from where the SQL gives you a message and no resolution...

OK Suda - maybe I was not too clear...sorry. Now to your points...
WHY:
"CONCAT ( )" is a very common operation command in other SQL I have used and studied. Most folks having experience in SQL would think this is a "standard" operative. When folks are new to SAP B1 and they try to use "CONCAT ( )", they get the error message as shown in the Subject line.
WHERE YOU GET MESSAGE:
You get the error message in the Query Window where you type in/change SQL and after you have executed the query. Error messages appear at the very bottom of the Query Window in red. The words in the Subject line are part of an exact copy from that line.
APPLYING THE QUERY:
When I hold instruction on SQL, I give exercises for folks to do. This was nothing more than part of an exercise to demonstrate how one can combine two fields in one column in a query and how it comes out on a report (we combine other fields in the same "address" exercise to create "labels" using the Print Layout Designer). I know, nothing very earth shattering, but each training script I create has ONE specific objective since the scripts I write are for users and some might have experience from other packages.

But when someone is new to SQL, the lengthy "one-liner" created by the SAP B1 Query Generator can be a bit difficult to read so I have developed a writing and format standard to make reading the SQL easier by breaking it up. The format standard also makes it easier to draw attention to one particular line on an overhead and for the student to write comments or notes on the page. But one writing standard is that the students use parenthesis after a particular command [for example, SUM( ), MIN ( ), MAX( ), AVG( ), etc]. It might be seen as useless for experienced persons, but I have found that folks can "get it" better when you give them small rules like this one. If you want to see a bit more of that standard, there is another item (titled Reconciliation by a person named Shwu?) somewhere on the forum where I laid out an entire SQL for pre-upgrade reconciliation. I tend to document A LOT since I am writing SQL for several clients and sometimes refer back to old ones. The standard might be funky, and maybe someone else has a better way, but heck - it works for me!

Built in Function to Populate an access table from an Oracle Table through VB 6.0

Dear all,
Is there any built in function in VB 6.0 to populate an access table directly from an oracle table or SQL Server(Assume Both has the same columns & data type).
(Just like the DoCmd command which can be used to populate an excel sheet directly from an access table).

There is no "built-in" code in VB that I am aware of. However, you could use this code which I wrote for SQL Server. For Oracle, you would have to change to the appropriate table to get all the table names. You can filter by table name to get just your tables like I did below (My_).

Im writing a vi that will handle my memory request.
Im doing a very high speed video record sessions , and the frames cant be saves on hardisk in realtime), so im saving the frames on memory, and i want to use memory as
much as i can(~2GB) and to save the maximum frames that i can save (and it depends on bit depth, height, width, total memory).
VI Operations={
Allocate Memory (frame width, frame height,TotalMemorySize) ,
Add Frame(index) ,
Get Frame (index),
Free Memory
In each record session, there will be a different FrameWidth and Height, so the maximum frame that i can save in memory may be different and equal to
IndexMax=TotalMemorySize/(FrameWidth*FrameHeight)
Im doing this by allocating a 3D array [FrameIndex , row , column]
The fact that the width and height change in different sessions indicate that i need an ability to free the previous allocated 3D array memory and allocate a new one.
(lets say that i have 2GB total memory..)

This request really takes the system and the programmer to the limits....
First of all:
LabVIEW does not have any functions like malloc and free. LV wants to prevent the user to have to think about stuff like this. On the other hand, the memory management in LV is therefore hard to do or even impossible, at least to such an extend as you request.
Some thoughts about your application:
1. If you want to have about 2GB of framedata in RAM during runtime, you will need the large memory awareness active. Otherwise, a 32 bit OS will give you "out of memory" messages. Refer to the LV help "VI memory usage".
2. Storing the data in an array could be a difficult task. Arrays have to be in memory without any gap. Therefore, you'd encounter "out of memory" messages even if your RAM totals enough free memory (theoretical).
3. The idea of linked-lists does not compy in LV since you cannot store pointers to structs (since those are abstracted from the user).
4. Maybe you should take a look into vision.
