Help me with a simple function please!

Hi,
I want to pass to a function an error number ( define by me) get the error message associated to this number in another table, and then use this message in raise_application_error...
something like
CREATE FUNCTION GetErrorMsg ("-20000") Return Error_Msg
Begin
Select Error_Msg from Error_table Where Error_Number= "-20000" ( the number sent by my function)
End;
and then
raise_application error (-20000,Error_Msg)
Thanks for any hint...
Pete

It will be like below:
CREATE FUNCTION GetErrorMsg (Perr_No Number) Return Error_Msg
Begin
Select Error_Msg from Error_table Where Error_Number= Perr_No ( the number sent by my function)
End;
and then
raise_application error (-20000,Error_Msg)
Hope this will solve your problem

  • Help me with a simple CMR - please!!

    Hi!
    Please Im pretty new to CMR and appreciate if you could help me answer a simple question.
    Database model:
    WriterTbl

    2____PankajKumar
    BookTbl
    FK___Name
    1____J2EE-DesignAndDevelopment

    2____J2EESecurity
    Question:
    I ve two CMP entities: WriterBean and BookBean
    I ve set the relations between Writer and Books, and it works as far as a writer only has one book.
    That because I set the FK also as a PK to the BookBean. And when I try to create next book for a writer it fails with duplicate-exception, logicaly.
    Can I solve this without any need of specifing a primary key for books at all?
    How is CMP handling no-pk entity and is relations working without any pk?
    Do EJB vendors manage no pk ejbs? what about ejb restrictions.
    I ve read that there must be a primary key, but not necessery a database field - HOW? could you please explain!
    Please this is very urgent and I Thank you very much!!

    How is CMP handling no-pk entity and is relations
    working without any pk?Using s1as l have found out that l if you do not specify a primary key on creation of entity bean, the ejbCreate returns null as the primary key which causes an EJBException.
    Why? Cos I think a primary key has to be returned at the same time as the handle to the entity bean is stored in the Context. Why it would not insert the data first then request a primary key l dont know. I must say that this happens when you try to use autoincrement in the primary key column.

    Reading the specification literature gives the impression that they do, but practice is another thing entirely.

  • Need help to call a simple function from within another function?

    I created a movieclip which has a function in its one and only frame.
    function testx() {
    x = x+2};
    This movieclip is in the main timeline (in its own layer).
    In another layer on the timeline I have created a single keyframe with a button instance called myBtn
    myBtn.onRelease = function() {
    var x
    x =2
    testx(2);
    trace (x);
    What I want to do is call the function in the movieclip frame from the button press function. However, I can't seem to reference it properly.
    Can anyone help me to basically call a simple function from within another function?

    Yes am using CS4.  Have saved it as CS3 now.  Ok the file is somewhat complicated and what I am testing is not what I ultimately want to do but if I can pass that variable I can figure it out.  In terms of describing the file I think the only parts of importance are what I put in my previous post (please let me know if there is something I should be telling you that I have missed).  I am 99.9% sure that I am using the correct instance name.
    Scene1 Layer3 Frame1 has the function call for the button.
    myBtn.onRelease = function() {
    var x
    x = 2
    testx(2);
    trace (x);
    Slideshow layer //Actions Frame1 has the function
    function testx(x) {
    x = x+2};
    thank you so much for helping me.

    I was playing with this a little bit and came up with this game model, something that I'm sure can be improved upon greatly:
    TttXO.java
    an enum to encapsulate X vs O. I could use a boolean here since it has 2 states, but this seems more intuitive to me
    package dy08.m05.ttt;
    * tic tac toe encapsulation of X vs O
    * @author Pete
    public enum TttXO
        X, O
    }TttCell.java
    encapsulates an individual cell in the tictactoe grid.

    * Tic Tac Toe Game cell
    * can be occupied or not
    * can hold TttXO X or O or null

    Best way is to start putting System.out's ....
    System.out.println("Step ############1");
    Put the incremental numbering between several code blocks. Check the log output. You will surely be able to find out till what point ur code is Ok.

    press it another time and a new one come up...and so on...I could
    make like 50 different frames with new comments on them and then
    make the button on each frame link to the next frame. is there a
    way to do that? if there is I REALLY need your help. please
    thanks :)

    no need to modify anything - look at the first code:
    on (release) {
    nextFrame();
    that's all you need on the button.
    If you want it to happen on click and not release:
    on (press) {
    nextFrame();

  • Please help me with a simple flash game problem

    I am trying to learn how to make flash games with Adobe flash 5.5. I am doing a tutorial from a book and am stuck.
    The game is called concentration and you are suppose to match 2 tiles of the same shape. there are 10 shape tiles
    and 1 question mark tile. These tiles are held in an array. 20 tiles are suppose to be displayed 5 to a row with 4 rows
    and the question mark is suppose to be up on all 20. My problem is I get a blank screen when I test the movie. I
    think the code is good but I beleive I have not uploaded the tiles right. I did upload the 11 tiles to the library and have
    those 11 tiles and tile_movieclip in the library. Here is the code:
    package {
    // importing classes
    import flash.display.Sprite;
    // end of importing classes
    public class Main extends Sprite {
    public function Main() {
    // variables and constants
    const NUMBER_OF_TILES:uint=20;
    const TILES_PER_ROW:uint=5;
    var tiles:Array=new Array();
    var tile:tile_movieclip;
    // end of variables and constants
    // tiles creation loop
    for (var i:uint=0; i<NUMBER_OF_TILES; i++) {
    tiles.push(Math.floor(i/2));
    trace("My tiles: "+tiles);
    // end of tiles creation loop
    // shuffling loop
    var swap,tmp:uint;
    for (i=NUMBER_OF_TILES-1; i>0; i--) {
    swap=Math.floor(Math.random()*i);
    tmp=tiles[i];
    tiles[i]=tiles[swap];
    tiles[swap]=tmp;
    trace("My shuffled tiles: "+tiles);
    // end of shuffling loop
    // tile placing loop
    for (i=0; i<NUMBER_OF_TILES; i++) {
    tile=new tile_movieclip();
    addChild(tile);
    tile.cardType=tiles[i];
    tile.x=5+(tile.width+5)*(i%TILES_PER_ROW);
    tile.y=5+(tile.height+5)*(Math.floor(i/TILES_PER_ROW));
    tile.gotoAndStop(NUMBER_OF_TILES/2+1);
    // end of tile placing loop
    Can someone please explain to me what I am suppose to do to make the this work? I beleive the problem is it doesnt know where the tiles are.
    Thanks.

    To create the tiles, draw 10 distinct shapes in the first 10 frames of your symbol, and
    the back of the tile in the 11th frame. You are free to draw them as you want, but I suggest you make them as 90 pixels squares with registration point (starting x and y position) at 0, because these are the properties of the tiles used in this chapter's
    examples. At least, they should all be the same size.
    It didnt say put in a library. It is saying to draw them in frames of symbol but it didnt walk me through that. Can you guide me through this? I also was looking at how to add the link identifier but it said I need a popup window but I cant see one. I thought that was done
    when I went to insert new symbol. It said something about actionscript linkage. I am familliar with perl, java and c++ so I can follow the code so far but I dont have much understanding of the flash interface. I made the 10 shape tiles and the 1 question mark tile
    in paint. They are .jpeg images.

  • Help with a simple question-please

    Forgive me if this has been covered already, it seems like such a simple request but I can not find any simple answers...
    I am currently using the trial version of acrobat 9.. I am considering buying. I want to create fillable PDF forms(for personal use). When I fill them them out I want to be able to email the filled out form, and save a copy of the filled out form. Can I do this? If yes how?
    Basically, i want to take all my personal forms that I now send out via snail mail(some are order forms, some are claim forms that I send to my insurance co, etc...). I want to make them into fillable pdf's so i can fill them out on my computer and then email them to whoever I choose. Can I do this? How?

    Do you want them to be filled0in with Reader, or Acrobat? To create a form in the first place, you'll need Acrobat. Once you've added the fields and entered the form data, you just have to save it as a new document. You can then attach the document to an email as you would any other type of file. You can also set up a "submit" type button to partially automate the process of saving and attaching a document to an email.
    If you want to create a form that Reader users can fill-in and save, you will have to Reader-enable the document. In Acrobat 9, you do this by opening the document in Acrobat and selecting "Advanced > Extend Features in Adobe Reader...".
    Regarding locking the document, you cannot do it securely with Reader, but you can set up the form so that the fields are set to read-only after it is filled-in but before it is saved. This may require a bit of programming in JavaScript, but it's not too complicated.

  • Please help me with somewhat simple problems

    Hi,
    I'm being asked to produce a 90 second "movie/commercial" that will be put on youtube.  I've used Motion 4 to create using just text and jpg pictures.  I've imported these various scenes into Final Cut Pro and have added transitions and edited.  When I'm not playing the movie from the timeline, the text and pictures are crystal clear.  After rendering, when I play the timeline, all the pictures and text are fuzzy.  I thought that once I exported the video, it would look clear...but it doesn't.  Can somebody give me some direction on what I need to do so that everything looks clear?  It doesn't have to be HD quality...just clear.  I don't have a lot of experience with Final Cut as I have been using Adobe Premiere Elements for the last 5 years.  Its getting very frustrating.
    Thanks
    Greg

    The white background you are selecting is only a tool to help view the image in the canvas. It does not actually place a background in your sequence. To have a white background, click on the Generator Button ( lower right corner of the Viewer window with an "A" on it) and from the drop down menu, choose Matte > Color. This will load a solid color into the viewer. Click on the Controls tab in the viewer and adjust it to the color you want - in this case white.
    Next, on your sequence, if you don't already have an available Video track above your edited clips, then add one by control-clicking on the space above V1 and select Add Track:
    This will add another track:
    Select your video clips on V1, and move them directly up to V2 by selecting them, then clicking down and dragging the selected clips up to V2 so that V1 becomes empty:
    And then edit the color you have in the viewer to V1:
    Now you will have a White background behind what ever is on the higher Video Tracks. If you have a long edit, you may need to edit the white color a couple times to make it run the length of the edit.

  • Help with a simple program please

    Hello, I am trying to create a java program that will request a password from the user (just input no gui fancy stuff) and give the user 5 tries to get it right. After the 4th guess, it needs to go from "You have # trials left." to "You have 1 trial left." It needs to become singular.
    I have successfully created a program that does this, but it uses 5 if statements and 1 while. I was curious as to if there was a way to make this more "pretty" to look at. Perhaps eliminate some of the ifs. I'm not sure, but some help would be great. Thanks!

    Sorry, this is lessakilla. It seems I have two accounts here. I'll look into fixing that. But here is my dilemma still.
    Well, I'm looking for a cleaner look. My program works fine and does what I want it to do, but i was wondering if I could somehow eliminate some of the if statements. There is a skeleton of the program below. Thanks in advance!
    while count < 3
            if guess.equals(password)
    print (correct. welcome)
       print (incorrect, you have (4 - count) trials left.)
    ++count;
            }Then I have this
    if count == 3
            if guess.equals(password)
    print (correct. welcome)
    print (incorrect, you have (4 - count) trial left.)
    ++count;
         }Finally I have this
    if count == 4
            if guess.equals(password)
    print (correct. welcome)
    print (incorrect, you lose.)
         }Edited by: vegunks on Oct 9, 2007 7:35 PM

  • Can you please help me with this simple (not for me:) issue

    Why this doesnt work?
    public void spl ()
         String a=("moon.sun");
    String [] f=a.split(".");
    System.out.println(f[0]);
    }

    The second expression to split() is a regular expression. A period in a regular expression matches all characters, and you're wanting it to just match a period.
    To match just the period for your split, you'll need to escape it:String[] f = a.split("\\.");

  • Iphoto has stopped working.Help me with any possible ideas please..

    I have a 9.1.3 version of iphoto'11 on macbook pro with Mac OS X 10.6.6. I can get the application to open but it does not upload and keeps showing the circular 'in process' sign on the iphoto page continuously. Please

    You might consider updating the app and your OS. The latest version of 10.6 is 10.6.8 and the latest version of iPhoto that will run on that is 9.2.3
    Other than that:
    Option 1
    Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
    Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
    This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
    Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Help Needed With "Extend Marker" Function Not Working

    I have several Clips and used the "DV Start/Stop Detect" function to find the time code breaks, which seems to work well. I've now got a clip full of Segment markers.
    The problem arises when I try to use Extent Markers "Option + `" to make subclips. When I put the play head on a subsequent marker, the Marker/Extend function is grayed out.
    Extending a marker that I have created using the M key works perfectly.
    Why can I not use the Extend function on Segment Markers?
    Any help on this is greatly appreciated. I have 30 odd clips that I need to set up segments for, and doing it manually will add hours to my workload.
    Thanks

    Thanks for the reply.
    I am completely aware of items 1 through 3, and never Extend markers in the Timeline. Only the Viewer.
    To perform an Extend Marker and avoid headaches, load the captured clip - the one with the video icon in the Browser - into the Viewer. Then, as you scrub along in the Viewer, Option-` as needed.
    That is precisely what I am doing.
    To Extend the marker I first double click the clip to load the entire clip into the Viewer, where all the Section markers are displayed. I then check Mark>Markers>Extend and the function is grayed out. However, if I move the playhead one frame prior to the Section marker, the previous Section marker extends to the frame prior to the new play head position.
    If I do this with manually entered markers (using the M key, creating Marker 1, 2, 3.... in sequence on the Viewer timeline), then the Previous marker is extended to the frame immediately prior the the current play head position - i.e. from Marker 1 to Marker 2. I do not have to move off the Marker 2 position to be able to extend Marker 1.
    Also, simply selecting all your Markers and either dragging them to another bin (or pressing Command-U) does not produce the needed subclips?
    Of this I am also aware. I find the Command-U process just confuses the issue, creating more clips to manage (others may disagree). I prefer to simply drag the "Subclips" directly from the Main clip into a Timeline.
    Because you're doing all this to get subclips, right? Or wrong?
    If I understand your reply correctly, I think you misunderstood my problem. I have been using subclips for several years, and find them VERY useful, especially with multi-camera shoots. So, I am quite familiar with creating and extending markers.
    I just started experimenting with the Detect feature and find it works quit well (most of the time). My problem is that the Segment markers created by the Detect process, do not perform the same as manually place markers, as far as the Extend marker function is concerned, anyway.
    BTW - By using the TC display in my Panasonic PV-GS400 Camera, and sending the FCP video via Firewire to the camera, the camera displays the TC on the captured clip, which I then rename the marker to for TC reference. As long as the Date/Time on the cameras are properly synced, syncing clips in the Timeline is a breeze!!
    Anyway, to clarify, my process is as follows:
    1. Capture a clip.
    2. Display the clip in the Viewer
    3. Select "DV Start/Stop Detect" and watch as the section markers appear in the Viewer.
    4. In Viewer, place play head on the first Section marker
    5. Press the M key to Edit Marker.
    6. Change the Name of the marker to the timecode of the Marker now displayed in the Camcorder window.
    7. Use Shift-Down Arrow to move to the next Section Marker
    8. Press Option+` to Extend the previous marker - which does not work and is grayed out in the Mark>Markers>Extend menu.
    9. Back to step 5.
    This process works perfectly with manually created markers. Because the Extend works if I move the play head one frame prior to the current Section marker, this tells me there is something "special" about the Section marker that disables the Extend function, unlike a manually created marker.
    BTW - If I delete the Section marker, and create a manual marker at the same frame, the Extend marker function works again. Again, indicating that Section markers are different somehow from manual Markers.
    Hopefully, this wordy explanation of my process clarifies my problem.
    Aside: The clips are supplied to me by a customer on a 500GB FW800 drive. FCP5 was used to capture the clips from the original Tapes (which I do not have access to). I am the editor for the project.
    Thanks again for the reply. It is greatly appreciated. If there is any other info that I have missed that will help figure this out, please let me know and I will post a response a quickly as possible.

  • Can anyone help me with a simple java programm in linux?

    i just started learning how to write java code in high school and we had an assignment which required us to write a program that would calculate the amount of kilometers u traveled into miles and vis-versa but we had to give the user a chance to pick which one they had to do and our teacher told us to give them the option using 1 to calculate from kilometers to miles and 2 to calculate miles to kilometers .....
    and i got confused so please help

    First figure out an algorithm: how would you solve this problem just using pencil and paper. Once you know your equations and steps to take, then translate to Java. Why not give it a try first? You can't break your computer by doing this. Then come back with your code if you are still stuck.
    Good luck.galaxyboy25,
    This is very good advice. Getting into the habit of working out problems on paper/whiteboard first will save you many a headache later on. I'm relatively new to programming as well (only about 2 years professional experience) but this technique has helped me immensely in my work. In my mind, writing code is easy--figuring out what to write is where the real challenge is.
    One other thing. In addition to sketching your problem on paper, it always helps to break a problem into very small, simple, and easily solvable pieces. Then put them together. In doing this you will find that not only will this make your task of problem solving much easier but you also end up writing cleaner and more flexible code.
