Help needed getting a USB to serial adaptor to work

I have a new Mac Mini but an not getting my serial adaptors to be seen by the OS (10.7)
Any ideas please

Here’s a way to get you PL2303-based Serial-USB adapter working with OS X Lion (10.7). Based on the osx-pl2303 project on github, I’ve built a kernel extension that works with OS X Lion. You can grab the kext file here or from the link below.
Installing the kext file can be done in a few easy steps:
download and extract
cd /path/to/osx-pl2303.kext
cp -R osx-pl2303.kext /System/Library/Extensions/
next you need to fix permissions and execute bits:
cd /System/Library/Extensions
chmod -R 755 osx-pl2303.kext
chown -R root:wheel osx-pl2303.kext
cd /System/Library/Extensions
kextload ./osx-pl2303.kext
kextcache -system-cache

While the many USB adapters seem to be easier to handle, we have had some bad experiences. Their stability is not always up to the task for industrial applications. This might not be an issue when you only use them to control your RS-232 lab equipment for manual experiments, but in our case we have fully automated lab systems running, where LabVIEW controls sometimes up to 8 serial devices and those applications are supposed to run day and night, if possible for many days in a row without interruption. With many of those noname USB-RS232 adapters we noticed various kind of problems. It could range from intermittent communication errors (which could be handled by additional code in our software to retry communication on such errors) to complete failure of the RS-232 port after some time, which could only got back online by unplugging and replugging the USB adapter.
For our purpose this was completely unacceptable and we ended up using ENET-RS232 devices instead which are working fine for months in a row.

Unable to get mouse (USB) or serial working.

I have a MSI 865P board.
Ive tried all drivers ive seen this far and am unable to get a USB installed or serial working. Any ideas?

Help needed asap! I want to buy an IPAD 3G + Wifi before I return to my country from the US. The problem is that I have GSM service providers in my country that provide 3G services but I am wondering if their SIM card would work in the IPAD? In other words, can I get an unlocked IPAD 3G wifi? Thanks for helping out

The AT&T 3G iPads (which are GSM/sim based) in the US are not locked (the Verizon models are CDMA based so they effectively are). So as long as you can get a sim in your own country you shouldn't have a problem

Cant get my PS CS2 serial number to work

I downloaded my ps cs2 and my serial number wont work, spoke to adobe customer service, and they provided me a link that also didn't work because they said the CS2 is outdated. please help with a solution

All that should be required is to download a new version of CS2 - which no longer requires activation - from
Error: Activation Server Unavailable | CS2, Acrobat 7, Audition 3
Install then enter the serial number provided at that link. Your existing serial number will no longer work.

Help needed getting ownership of drive on windows 7

hi everyone
i am in need of help.the problem i am having is on my external drive i get a message saying drive is not accessible access is denied i deleted a user name in security settings i can view files in safe mode but cant access files is there any
way i can get ownership of the drive as it won`t let me change permission and in security tab owner its saying unknown user i have tried sfc /scannow that came back with no errors would really appreciate if anyone can take time out to help with this

Do you mean that you are access denied by USB external drive and get error message ‘unknown user’ when you change ownership? Please share us the whole error message.

HT203175 Itnunes corrupt and need help to get going again as nothing seems to work-Help!

Hi please can somoene help me
My ipod was disconnected whilst synchng on my desktop and hence the itunes said I needed to reinstall or repair as I had a missing component after that
I did reinstall to no use as keep getting the error message "This copy of Itunes is corrupted or is not installed correctly. Please reinstall itunes"
I have restarted my computer , tried removing from add/remove programmes and then restarted and reinstalled and every time try start itunes I still get the same error messgae
Can someone help me please as desperate to sort it
Not very computer savvy but can limp through and dont know what else to try
I tried to contact apple but says I need a serial number but I cant open Itunes so dont knwo how I could do that either
I have also tried starting in safe mode but wont open either when I hold down shift and CTL

Help needed after "repairing" usb stick -16gb

Hi there,
currently have a problem with my Lexar usb stick, approx. 2 years old, 16gb stick. I went for the usual cleaning method of removing files, and checking sizes of folders etc one day, and then decided to check a folder, right clicked and went the usual "get info" ....it started to think...and then ejected the usb stick. Plugged it back in, and did the same thing...same result. So the third time i plugged it back in and decided to do a repair disk in Disk Utilities.
It ran its course, and then it ejected by itself, thinking it was done its job. okay....so i unplug it from the side of my Macbook Pro...running Snow Leopard...and then plugged it back in...and nothing came up...
Usually a little light on the usb stick lights up, but nothing happened....tried plugging it in a few times, nothing.
Tried a variety of PC computers....the only thing i can see is that the disk keeps ejecting itself from the device manager....but i cannot mount it or anything.
I need help, as there are crucial files on it.
Also, when I try to do a boot to windows from Mac, when you hold option/alt down, it thinks and keeps thinking but never shows the drive. ....assuming its dead...by why can windows at least see it, just not connect it as a drive.
Whenever I try running recovery programs it does not find it.
so again, I cannot do much, but would really like to just put it out there for anyone who has successfully taken care of these problems in the past.

I've tried running Linux as well, but not too familiar with it...as the usb stick does not even connect there either.

USB stick is Flash memory you should not delete files often, the only thing you should if you need to free space on it is FORMAT.
You can try and connect it, Disk Utility should see it. Do erase and use format FAT32.
If Disk Utility does not see it, try the same on a windows PC; if that does not work either... gone:

Help Needed in Fixing USB Printer after CUPS Update [SOLVED]

CUPS updated a while ago but I didn't notice any warnings from pacman or whatever. I did later notice on the front page that cups had been upgraded so that usblp is no longer usable. It told me to blacklist usblp, and so I did. I also upgraded the /etc/cups/cupsd.conf file as per the instructions.
I still cannot print.
When I plug in my printer, I get the following in /var/log/messages.log:
kernel: usb 5-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 2
kernel: usb 5-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
load-modules.sh: Not loading module 'usblp' for alias 'usb:v03F0p1D17d0100dc00dsc00dp00ic07isc01ip03' because it is blacklisted

Help needed to use USB 9481 relay device

I am new to LabVIEW so any help would be appreciated.
I am attempting to start and stop an instrument with the USB-9481 relay device. On my instrument, connecting pins 1 and 2 will start the machine, and connecting pins 4 and 5 will stop the machine. How do I program LabVIEW to connect pins 1 and 2, wait a determined time, disconnect the connection, and then connect pins 4 and 5? No power needs to be supplied since the 12V is already being supplied by pins 2 and 4.

Hi Josh, No problem. I took a look in the NI 9481 Operating Instructions and found this information to be quite useful:
As far as the DAQ Assistant goes, you can only have 1 DAQ Assistant per device, so you will need to add channels to the DAQ Assistant by pressing the '+' button near the top left (just below the Play button). This device is pretty simple, and I'm sure you'll be using it in no time.

I went back.... installed jwsdp1.3 and everything was fine...
so I will give it a try... change the classes and at this time i use the right tags...
but this will also work for the tomcat downloaded from the apache.org site?
I only need the jar files in the jsf-1.0/lib file and the latest jstl-jars ---

Is it possible to use linux drivers to get a pluscom USB to ethernet adaptor to work.

I'm grasping at straws here, the adaptor it seems has only linux and windows drivers and I'm avoiding having to return it, given the dramatic difference in price between these adaptors and the official apple onese for a device with the same functionality it'd be best to get these working. I found an open source website with drivers for other brands which are said to work for devices not of the particular brand the driver is said to be for as well but there's no guarantee. I'd try these out but none of those on offer are for the right chipset (ADM8515) so I think it would be very risky to try running drivers that are open source, not from the developer, and are for a different chipset.
The cd that came with the device has linux drivers, Mac OS x and linux are in a way based on the same architecture, is there a chance these drivers are installable and would work with Mac OS x 10.6.8?

Help needed getting an internet connection.

Hi, I am new to Mac. I run a wireless internet connection using my P.Cs with AOL. I would like to connect my MAC to the internet also. Can it be done (Aol dont seem to support mac). What hardware do i need to insatall etc.

Help needed getting contacts page to work

Hi there,
I’m new to flash programming, so please bear with me.
I bought a flash template to customise to use for our wedding
website. I’ve got pretty much most of it done, all except the
contacts page, which I can’t get to work.
I think I’ve narrowed the problem down to the feed into
send_mail.php script, but any suggestions would be greatly
appreciated (before my future wife kills me for wasting so much
time on this when we could have got a simple html website –
but where would be the fun in that?!)
I've attached the Action script behind the contacts page
(please excuse the Spanish – for some reason the scripts are
littered with it – for those who need to know, boton =
button, listo = ready, nombre = name, cuadro = picture).
From what I can gather, the first bit deals with what happens
when you click on the buttons (name and email), the second bit is
for error checking what’s entered, such as whether the email
address has a @ or .com. The last bit is to feed the results into a
php file, which should forward the contents of the contacts page to
me.
Here’s my send_mail.php file

Okay is the php script you have included here, THE actual
script that is on your website? (unchanged in it's contents)
Because where it says:
$to="[email protected]";
You have to change that to your email, or the email you want
the form contents to send to.
-Yes you will put the .php file in the same directory as the
.swf file-
Also you need to check that the variable and instance names
in the flash file match the names in the .php file.
Example:
"mail.nombre = nombre.text;
mail.email = email.text;
mail.phone = phone.text;
mail.comentarios = comentarios.text;
mail.Submit = true;"
-This is what you have provided for the form, which does not
match the .php file provided.
If the instance name of the email section is "email" the php
file will read like this:
email=$_POST['email'];
The name inside the apostrophes is the instance name of that
box.
Looking at the scripts you have provided the instances and
variables in the form do not match the ones in the .php file.
If I am wrong, you can send me the original file if you wish
and I can most likely find the problem for you and fix it.
