Help Needed: Operation on jar files!

Hi,

Or
is there any facility that I can use the unjar command inside the java code to extract it. I wonder about this!
Or
does java povide Java APIs provides facility for this. I have gone thourgh java.util.jar package but am not to get how can this be used for the above purpose?
Thanks.

  • Help on creating a jar file

I created a game and I need help on creating a jar file.
I know the basics such as having a root folder, a manifest file and what goes in it, etc. And I know some programs like JGrasp can do the jar file for you, but it tells me it cannot find the main class. Does anybody know another program that can do that for me, or can i easily do it manually?
    any help is appreciated

You can use jar.exe to create jar files.
Just type jar and hit enter on the console it will give the help message about parameters.
if you do not really need to put any spesific menifest information. Just zip the files using some zip software and change the extenction to jar. (Thats what I am doing most of the time)

  • Need to download JAR files from more than ONE HTTP-server ?

    Hello,
We have a need to download JAR files for an application, from more than ONE HTTP-server, i.e. any specified HTTP-server in an extremely secure network.
Does a solution exist for this requirement ? Is it possible to design a solution our selfes for this problem ?
    Best Regards
    Peter

We have a need to download JAR files for an
    application, from more than ONE
HTTP-server, That can be done using the extension element
from within the resources element of the main JNLP.
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/guide/javaws/developersguide/syntax.html#resources
The extension element should refer to another JNLP
(on the other site) that refers to the Jars. The jar files
in any such (foreign) JNLP need to be signed, and the
JNLP files should declare itself as a <component-desc>.
For any level of detail on using extensions/components,
download the spec. mentioned in the second paragraph
of that section linked above. Unfortunately I can find no
web browsable form of the information.
    Here is an example though..
    http://www.javasaver.com/testjs/jws/04/glclock.jnlp
This (sandboxed) screenaver demo comes off my
javasaver site. It refers to the JOGL API via an
extension element in the JNLP, that points directly
to the JOGL site. You might notice the security
    warning that is produced mentions..
    Name:      JOGL
    Publisher: sun microsystems, inc
    Source:    https://jogl.dev.java.net
..i.e. any specified HTTP-server in an
extremely secure network. I do not know about an extremely secure network,
but if it is OK to launch a normal JNLP for an
application with a 'main()' from the server, I guess
it should be OK to launch extensions off it - you
might need to set up some tests.

  • Plz help....JAR file needed.......

    Hi Friends,
I want to use the IUrlGeneratorService and IPortalUrlGenerator classes for a URL generation task. But I cannot find the JAR file having these classes. I tried finding com.sap.portal.appintegrator.sap.bwc_api.jar in my eclipse/plugins but could not find it.
Where can I find this JAR, or any other JAR having the files I need?
    Plz help.

    Hi,
You can find jar files from this link also
    <a href="http://www.alphaworks.ibm.com/aw.nsf/reqs/jarclassfinder">Jar Files</a>
And check in your portalapps folder the name of the jar file for urlgenerator is bc.rf.global.service.urlgenerator_api.jar.

    Venkatesh.K.

  • Help with creating a jar file

hi sorry if this is not the place to post the topic but was not sure where to post it.
i have make an application that has some images and a database but i would like to make a "exe" or somthing so that the client dose not have to open an ide and click run. they can just double click on somting. am not sure about how most of you distrbute your apps. can you help me please.
the client will be useing windows 95.
i know that a jar file can do this but i am not sure on how to change the refrences in the code to include the images and every thing. and how would i go about getting it into jar form
    thanks nibur

You can create an executable jar.
Note that even if you do this, the user will need to have a JRE installed on their machine for this to run.
Here's how you can make this executable jar:
Replace all code that refers to the filesystem (like if you do "File f = new File("c:\myDirectory\file.txt");") to use resources:
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/guide/resources/index.html
Create a manifest file that has a Main-Class: attribute.
Then use the "jar" tool to create the jar:
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/tooldocs/windows/jar.html
That doc has "see also" links at the bottom that can tell you about executable jars and manifest files.
If you're using an IDE, the IDE probably has a tool to create jars for you. In Eclipse, it's under File -> Export. Check your IDE's docs for details.

  • HELP!!! Could someone help me with a jar file issue and JRE 1.3 & 1.4

We had a problem with the last Oracle patch in that it tried to extract from a jar file using the "jar" executable. But the jar executable is not installed on the server where we have JRE 1.4
On one server, Jar.exe is installed where we have JRE 1.3. Is the jar.exe apart of JRE 1.4? If so, where do I find the jar.exe file? If it's not part of JRE 1.4, what do I need to do to get the jar.exe onto the server where JRE 1.4 is installed?
    Thanks, Carl

    Thanks for your replies.
I know that a jar file is like a zip file but I'm asking, "Can you download just the jar.exe without downloading the JDK?"
I keep reading everywhere that you can only get the jar.exe tool if you download the JDK but I can't use JDK(because it is a compiler) on our website here at work.
    Thanks,
    Carl

The jar tool isn't part of the jre but the jdk. You should find it on your server in %ORACLE_HOME%\jdk\bin (seems you use some kind of Windows).

  • Help -- Trying to create JAR file but not working

    Hi everyone
I have created a rather noddy Java program that consists of 4 JComboBox's and 1 JButton on a JFrame.
When the button is clicked a text file is generate with the options that have been selected.
There are severial files that the program uses for this:
    gcc.java
    OutToFile.java
    gccConfirm.java
    MyNewWindow.java
    main.java
I am using Jcreator and so must use the command line to create the Jar file.
I have never done a jar file before so I did an example with a hello world program and got it working now problem. I did the same for this program and the JAR file is generated without error. I double click on the JAR file to run the application, but nothing happens. I can see the application running in memory but nothing loads on the screen. However if I run it from the command line using Java -jar gcc.jar then everything is ok.
    can anyone help me here?
    thanks in advance

If you run you .jar from the command line (a shell in unix speak) there
already is a console where your java program can send it's System.out
stuff. Right click on your .jar and select 'properties' (or similar). Note
that your .jar is run by 'javaw'. This executable is similar to the 'java'
executable except that it doesn't open a console for you. Change the
'javaw' command to 'java' and voila, there's your console again.
    kind regards,
    Jos
