Help on item state please?

I am relatively new to APEX and am struggling to get to grips with the initialisation of variables from screen to screen and probably need to understand the concept of the session state of these variables more. Would anybody be kind enough to point me in the direction of a document covering setting item values/states.
The biggest problem I have had is linking to other pages from a column and being limited to only 3 params to pass in the item screen. Have created a hidden column with a built string of parameters on the parent screen and passed it to the child screen to get around this but I need to then split the string in a process on the child screen and allocate them to that screens parameters depending on logic required. When I do this the built string param isnt split, I am using Before Submit process and it seems the screen isnt submitted when it first appears. Any idea how I allocate parameters on a child screen with values from its parent? Seems something that should be easy to do (Oracle Reports is easy) but this session state seems to complicate things greatly for me.

I was not aware of this option, so I decided to try it. I build a page with report and form on EMP, and used “EMPNO” as a link column. I used the first item/value fields to pass 3 parameters, and the next one for another three. It seems like the APEX engine convert it into a correct f?p syntax, however at runtime, I’m getting the following error: “ERR-1002 Unable to find item ID for item " P350_DEPTNO" in application "22710". Sometimes (with other items) I’m not getting an error message but the items not get set with the proper values. Of course, when I’m using only one item/value per field, or construct my own f?p string with more than 3 pairs of item/value, it’s working just fine.

Thank you that appears to have made the if statement work,
but now i have another problem.
It doesn't seem to acknowledge wether these selections have
been selected.
I have put in the code for the pink eyeshadow;
on (release) {
_root.eyeshadow2._alpha =0;
_root.eyeshadow1._alpha = 100;
eyeshadow == "Pink";
the same code is in all the other selections, with the name
variations.
any ideas?

This is my first time posting and sorry if for some reason i post incorrectly.
I am having trouble figuring out what I am doing with my if Statement and why the compiler is giving me an error which says 'cannot find symbol';
Just incase you need to see the code here it is. And please any pointers would help me get back on track. And please dont laugh at the novice code i just started^^;

I'll keep in mind to edit the code the way you told me too.
As far as the code goes, what do you mean 'y' is not a string and should be a variable. All I'm trying to do is give a true false statement.
For example
if (input==y)
System.out.println("________");
And in my code it gives an error stating that y is a variable.
I dont understand why.

First Special thanks to Kglad for the help with the AS1 to AS3 conversion.
I've been able to link up my buttons to play a different frames of the movie. this was my novice way of finally getting the programming to work.
In frame 95 I have

My buttons link to 116 which plays a frame and loads ^
in frame 226: removeChild(myLoader).
But if the user has looped back into home from another part in the movie clip then it would need to remove myLoader1 instead of myLoader.
I'm guessing there is some really dynamic way to solve the programatic nightmare i'm developing, but I'm really novice.
So what i need is an if statement for frame 226
That would do something:

removeChild(myLoader)
else(
removechild(myLoader1)

yes, you can use the same urlrequest but just change its url property:

I have 2 Tables

a) Table TASTING has 2 columns.... TDATE( date Tasting was Held) and PLACE ( locations at which Tasting was held)
b) Table TASTEWINE has 3 Columns.............. TWDATE( wine tasting date, BIN( ID number for type of wine that was tasted), AND QUANTITY( quantity of win consumed by bottles)
Here is the QUestion.... I am having a hard time figuring out how to connect those two tables based on this information .. What I want to do is this.....select the total number of bottles of wine served at each wine-tasting, but only for the second half of the year 1999, and I want to see not only the date and total bottles served, but also the location where the wine-tasting took place. I also want to display the date, the place, and total quantity.
Can Anyone please Help me??

Well I have checked my router system logs and for the second day,it looks like the router is disconecting to the exchange at the same time each day,and also if you look at the path it says "0",not interleave or fast,this has only started to happen,if this continues then I will end up with ip profile probs again

What email client? What version of Reader (I can only assume you even have Reader at this point)?

Have you tried simply saving the PDF (it IS a PDF correct?) to your desktop and opening it from there?
Did you get this form from the IRS or did it come from somewhere else? If the IRS again, what version of Reader?

Both the button and the total cost appear to have been removed in the current version of iTunes - I don't have them either and other people have posted about it as well. click on the store tab on the top left of iTunes. Scroll to where it says "Authorize this computer...". Click on that and enter your apple id and password then click authorize. The reason iTunes says that your computer needs to be authorized is because it is to be sure that iTunes knows can trust your new computer

What happens when you tru buy items in it ?
If you are getting a message to contact iTunes support then you can do so via this page and ask them why the message is appearing (we won't know why) : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption

In the analysis under item details condition tab I got message 301 as Acess 0002 12 is missing.
Acess seq. 0002 is assigned to condition type PB00.

I know this thread is very old but I had the same issue and found the solution.
Enter the SubTotal in the pricing scheme for condition P101 (in my Case 9 - Copy values to KOMP-BRTWR (gross value)).
Than it works for my case.

This only started after I upgraded my OS to Yosemite.

We are running a SAP ERP Ecommerce, we get a strange alert box message "no more free items available, please create a new one". This alert window pops up only when you have created one order in a session and you are trying to create another order. Has anyone come across this issue?
Steps to recreated this issue
1. Create an order with any product - quantity is rounded to next possible value.
2. Order created, close the order.
3. Trying to create new order. (Product field is not a text box anymore)
4. Try to transfer product from catalog by hitting shopping basket icon.
5. Error message -> "No more free items available, please create new one".
