HELP: Opening an application on the harddrive
How do i go about doing the following :
When i click a JButton a specific application located on the harddrive (e.g file.exe) pops open in a separate window.
in de action performed associated to this button you may write this code:

I need to open several applications at the same time: Dreamweaver, BBEdit, and Acrobat. Is there a way to smooth this process, so pressing an icon in the dock will open them all for me?
You could create an applescript to do it.
tell application "Dreamweaver's Full Name"

Replace the quoted text (leaving the quotes) with the full name of the application, and save the applescript as an application bundle, and put it in your dock.
NOTE: You may have to put the full path to the application for it to work (I.E. /Applications/Dreamweaver.app). If you do, encase the full path in quotes.

I am not able to view Forms Server version in Help: About Oracle Applications after the forms upgrade 10.1.2.3.0 after the forms upgrade 10.1.2.3.0 as per note:Upgrading OracleAS 10g Forms and Reports to 10.1.2.3 (437878.1)
Java/jre upgraded to 1.7.0.45 and JAR files regenerated(without force option). Able to opne forms without any issues.

Opening mail application from the dock sometimes doesn't open window.
In Mountain Lion, sometimes when I open Mail on the dock with a single left mouse (or touchpad) click, the Mail application opens, as shown in the menu bar, but a mail window doesn't open. I must then click or double click on it to get it to open a window. No other application in the dock behaves this way. How can I fix this?
Is there a problem with mail opening from the dock?
NOPE! Do you have open at login enabled? Is Mail listed in Login Items through System Preferences?

Opening an application in the dimension library.
I am trying to edit an application using the dimension library but when i click on dimension library and then open my shared library, I do not see my application.

A little while back, I attempted to write files to a disk, and then my computer went to a screen that I remember looking similar to thishttp://i44.tinypic.com/mheyy1.jpg After going in to speak with apple, they tried to reset specific settings and ended up erasing the majority of the files on my computer. After all this, my computer began to function terribly and finder would not respond. I did a software update just now and upon doing so my menu bar at the top of the screen is visible only for a moment before disappearing. When I try to open any application, the icon turns to a TXT icon and will not open. I am unable to do much of anything on my macbook right now. Thanks for your help!

That's not consistent with what you wrote in your first message. I can't help you unless I know what's going on. Either you do, or do not, have backups of all the data you want to keep. If you do not, then the first thing you need to do is back up those files. It makes zero sense to do anything else. In order to back up, you'll need either of two things: another Mac, in working order, with a FireWire port and enough space on its internal drive to hold your files; or an external drive, also with enough space.
On the other hand, if you do have backups, or if you simply don't care about any of the data, then the solution to your problem may be quite simple. All you have to do is boot from your installation disc (your profile says you're running Mac OS 10.5), erase your internal drive, reinstall the Mac OS, then restore your data from backup. You will need to be selective in restoring software, because incompatible software may be what caused the issue.
But it's also possible that you have a hardware failure, in which case you can't get your computer working again until it's repaired. -
Trying to open an application using the script below

But when the script executes finder comes on top of the application.
Is there some thing that i'm doing wrong?
Any other ways of doing this without Finder?

I need some clarification with respect to open an application from the INDEX page.
We are in CRM 2007, And I have created a new component "ZDictionary"and which has the view and the main window.
I configured "ZDictionary" component which will opened through the link "Dictionary Maintenance" in Navgation bar pofile config.
I configured Index page in my IC_AGENT profile which will show me the link "Dictionary Maintenance" onclick on that link, it will open the application with view there in the component "ZDictionary".
But I want the application to be opened in the new window rather opening in the same window.
Can anyone help me on this.

I have just bought an Ipad and Apple TV and am wanting to have a Keynote presentation playing through the TV from the Ipad, but be able to open other applications on the Ipad without them also being mirrored and interrupting the presentation. I know you can show presentation notes in Keynote without them showing up, but is there a way to open up a whole new application?

I just created a new application and when I try to open it to load everthing into it, the application will not open. Any suggestions? Workspace 9.3.1 Cannot Open Planning Applications
Hello,
We just moved our Hyperion / Essbase applications from one database server to another. We have debugged almost everything, except we cannot open Planning applications in Workspace. We get a dialog that says, "Opening Planning Application", and the little bar runs back and forth, but never opens the application. Planning works well. We have done the Release 9.3.1 Service Pack 1 (9.3.1.1.00) patch. Does anyone have suggestions on how to correct our problem?

Open with Application... setting does not seem to be working
Mac OS X 10.6.6, FF 4.0 (RC1), Microsoft Excel 2011 14.0.2. I needed to download several files with .xls suffix.
Firefox asked what I wanted to do with the file, I indicated Open with Excel, and retain this setting. I then tried the next download, and the "Open With..." button showed no settings. I check the Preferences>Applications area, and Excel is there as the application of choice, but it does not appear as the "Open With" application in the download dialog box. If I just go ahead and download, the file does not open. If I *do* re-select Excel, then the file downloads and opens properly, but the setting is not retained for the next download, even though the "always do this" box is checked. It's a minor issue.Has nobody experienced this issue before?

How do I download and OPEN from mobile me the documents in cwk format?

hi when i open my application folder, all the application is shown in trash folder. when i click the application it says this app is in trash first move it out. and when i try to open through finder> go it says this file doesn't exist. can some1 plz help? how can i put all my application through application folder?
Something really odd is going on. In your first screen shot, I noticed that the Applications folder does not have the proper icon displayed in the side bar. Also, in the title bar it lists it as Applications 08-59-29-909.
Not sure where it's picking up that odd name, unless it's because it's still truly within the Trash folder.
Try this. In the Finder > Preferences > General > turn on "Always open folders in a new window". (I have a feeling you have the default setting with this off).
Now, in Finder > Go > move down and open the Applications Folder from there. Now open the folder where you see all your applications that you show in your screen shot, select all, and move them to this true appliactions folder.
This is what you should properly seeing (but with different apps listed):
See how the Applications folder has the icon of the letter A shaped with a pencil, ruler & pen. -
Hello,
I searched this site and google for this error terminology and come up dry. I support a user who has been for years using Acrobat 5 (yes, I know...) to read files in a client DB program, as well as other PDF files on their PC. In the last week or so, they have started gatting this error "Acrobat is being used by another application and cannot open PDF files until the other application is closed." any time they attempt to open a PDF file attached to an email (via Outlook).
It is my understanding that they cannot upgrade to a newer version of Acrobat because of limitations of their client software, but had not previously had any issues viewing PDF notes from the DB, and PDF attachments in their email.
I have tried uninstalling and re-installing, as well as tried using Adobe Reader 7 & 9 in conjunction with Acrobat to try to get around this issue, but have not been successful.
Any ideas?

JesseI don't have an answer to your technical problem. The product I assume is Acrobat that you are talking about (based on the post title), Adobe is the company name. This is a good place to ask questions on Acrobat if folks can figure out what you are talking about. They will ask for the product version number (like AA9.3.3), operating system, and other applications if appropriate. Also, just what you are doing that generates the message.
As for Adobe, you are not likely to get an answer from them here in the user forum. You will be lucky if you can get an answer if you can contact them and not be on hold for more than an hour (sorry, this is why a lot of folks end up in the forum).
So, to help others try to answer your question, what are the products and versions involved? What OS? What are you doing when the message comes up.
