Help planning an image-sequence animation

Hi all,
I'm a bit of a newb here, haven't created something in Flash
for quite a while. I have created my sequence of images for my
animation, but I am unsure of how to build it in flash the 'smart'
way. I appreciate your time to respond and provide recommendations.
I have a golf ball, that I have 3 different logos. I've
created my 5-image blurred sequences for each version of the logos
on the golf ball. I could do this the hard way and sequence it
manually every rotation and blend the images as I go through each
version, but I'd really like to find a way to do this smarter with
actionscript. If there is an example out there that I could pull
from as for programming the actionscript to display the images
sequencially, pause for a specific amount of time on one image, to
show the logo, then begin sequencing the images again, pause,
repeat, and so on....
I really appreciate anyone's help in this, otherwise, I have
a lot of manual sequencing ahead of me :)
Thanks in advance.

You already made the correct change for this line:
        Storyboard.SetTargetProperty(animation, "Source");
Use these two lines for the DiscreteKeyFrame:
        KeyTime = KeyTime.FromTimeSpan(TimeSpan.FromMilliseconds(50 *
(i-1))),
        Value = new BitmapImage(new Uri("ms-appx:///Images/win_" + i.ToString() + ".png"))
In the second line, I feed a BitmapImage to the animation instead of just a file path. This would also work in Silverlight, but the sample code took advantage of a Silverlight API that takes just the path and performs an automatic conversion to a bitmap. You
will also have to add a using statement:
    using Windows.UI.Xaml.Media.Imaging;
For the KeyTime, I changed i to (i-1) to fix a bug in the sample code -- the timing should start at 0, but the sample project images are numbered starting from 1 (instead of 0). The sample project
is also missing image "win_3.png". These two items caused glitches in the animation.
This line is unnecessary and could be deleted:
        Resources.Add("Storyboard", storyboard);
Those were my only changes. The core parts of the xaml and C# are compatible and only needed to be copied and pasted from the Silverlight project to a Runtime project.

  • Help with TIFF image sequence frame rate?

I'm working on an animation sequence, its a 24p project.  Whenever I import an image sequence, Premiere automatically interprets this at 29.97 (though, per the help files, it should automatically interpret at the project frame rate, but it's not).  In the project panel, I use interpret footage so that it interprets at 24p.  However, when I bring this image sequence into the timeline it shows at the right duration, but the end of the sequence is cut off (essentially, premiere is still reading in at 30p, but gives it the duration of 24p).
CS4 is the first version I've had this problem with.. usually, I just bring in the image sequence and it's fine.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

Hi, I have the same problem as my workflow is to import R3D into AE CC and render it into Tiff sequence. At first I had changed every setting to 24, and it rendered out choppy and clipped off a few frames in the end.
    Now I have tried this
Once you import Tiff, right click> Interpret Footage > Main
Then you will see black box. In this column box, there is Frame Rate column, then tick Assume this frame rate: 24 frames per second.
You have to type in 24 yourself, then it works out fine.
My guess is that Tiff is sequence image, and it DOES NOT have frame rate. So you have to tell AE to assume the imported image sequence's frame rate. Otherwise it always assumes 30 by default.
    Hope it works.

  • Raw Image Sequence Workflow For Stop Animation

    Hi There,
I'm making a music video using a bunch of stop animation stills shot using a DSLR. I'm trying to improve the speed of my current workflow so I can use the color correction features of Raw Processing to adjust and re-adjust shots.
    The current workflow:
    - Use Adobe Bridge to Process the Raw files and save out JPEGs
    - Import JPEGs into Motion as an Image sequence
    - Crop and resize the sequence to suit the shot
    - Import the Motion file directly into FCP
    - Render the the Motion file and edit to music
    The main issues I'm having:
    - When the JPEG image sequence is imported into Motion, it looks very desaturated
    - Tweaking the colour using RAW processing requires going back to Bridge and starting again
Is there any kind of plug-in for Motion or FCP that will allow me to use Raw files and the color correction tools directly in either program?
Any suggestions or workflow tweaks would be most welcome.
    Cheers

    Hi There,
Thanks for all the replies. As you can tell I'm not a video guy so I guess it's time to embrace the video side as you say Adam!
Every shot was processed into JPEGs weeks ago, so time-wise it's not really an option to re-process everything - the deadline is today! A local editor/DOP I've talked to has said that by the time things go from 3072px wide to 1920px to 768px (local PAL TV) we won't notice any JPEG artifacts.
He agrees that JPEGs are not ideal but has said it will be OK - especially as it's a grungy stop animation rockin ' roll video created by the band. We want the highest quality possible but there is definitely a cut-off point as we're not professionals and the budget is literally $0.00, hence the limited equipment.
I've done some tests with TIFF files but motion won't display the size correctly for some reason - same with a PSD sequence. I like the PICT suggestion Mark. but I'd have to re-process the raw files in Photoshop as I can't save them directly from Bridge which is quicker.
Thanks for your reply Patrick, I got the size wrong. The files are between 3072px wide or 3888px wide depending on the camera used.
As it stands, all the shots have been processed in Motion and imported into FCP - and I can adjust cropping etc very easily back in Motion (thanks Adam). The only issue is that FCP won't render out a final movie (keeps crashing) so I think I'm going to render movies from Motion and re-import into FCP unless there is a better way to do it?
Thanks for all your help and suggestions, most appreciated.
    Cheers

  • Image Sequence, Audio, Edge Animation - it's all there in my app

My first DPS app went live last night.
    (Yay me.)
Now look into my eyes; you will like it. Don't resist.
Why? Well, it's free. And free is good, we all like free. It has fun drawings and interactivity. It makes use of many DPS components including an image sequence that looks like an animation, audio, HTML5 canvas tag, and an Edge Preview animation.
What's even better is that Adobe has asked me to make the components available in the DPS cookbook. You can have it all and use it in your own DPS apps. So while I get all the files ready for that, download the app from iTunes - so far only iPad - but I will publish for Kindle Fire and Android presently.
Leave any comments or questions with this thread so we can all benefit.
It is a Spanish-Language alphabet learning application called Todas la letras.
    http://itunes.apple.com/app/todas-las-letras/id540437129?mt=8
I have built a site which has some of the HTML code and a description of how I built it
    www.milibrodelasletras.com
So far, 10 downloads. 2 from Mexico, 1 each from Argentina and Columbia. Gracias, Suramerica!
And thanks to forum users who helped me along, espcially the Bobs.

I haven't figured out the refresh rate of the iTunesconnect analytics - so far, just the 14 downloads mentioned above. So I would safely bet that you are the first downloader from Down Under (too clever?). In fact, here at Dan McSweeney Digital Publishing Corporate Headquarters we'd like to name you our Australian ambassador. I'm going to have accounting send you a Speedo, an orange cap, and a Glock. The intent of this app was to get Australia speaking Spanish, bwah hahah, it's working.
Glad you liked the image overlay "animation." Credit for that idea is due Colin Fleming. And if you are handy at all in After Effects, it's not difficult to export an animation to a jpeg image sequence - AE even sequentially names the files for you. All of this will be detailed when I post the project files. Meanwhile anybody can ask me questions. (Like I'm some kind of mad expert in this, right?)
Writing a sparkling review of the app on iTunes is, by the way, part of your duties as ambassador.

  • Animating image sequences

    Hi guys and girls,
I'm a complete noob to AE and so have very little knowledge of what I need to do.  I'm sure the info is out there, and I've tried going through the help sections but when I do a search all I seem to get is info on adding layers and I don't think that's what I want!
What I have and need help with is putting several image sequences together, and then adding individual images in between each sequence (if that makes sense).
I rendered out an animation from Cinema 4D in groups of .tiff image sequences, I did it in groups as I have individual images with text on them that I want add  in between each group.  Each of the 10 groups of image sequences run at 30 fps and has anything from 100 - 250 frames totalling 1925 frames.  The images in the groups are numbered sequentially so if need be I could put all the images into one folder and open them all in one go, I just thought it would be easier for placing the individual images if they were broken up into groups.  The individual images that I need to add in between each group need to be visable for several seconds, just long enough for someone to read them.
So my questions are, 1 - How do I connect all the groups together?  2 - How do I insert the individual images? and 3 - How do I get those individual images to stay visible long enough for people to read the text?
I may need to add some sound to the animation at some point as well, but that's not definate yet!
I think that's everything (I hope!)  Any help would be very much appreciated
    Cheers
    Jim

So my questions are, 1 - How do I connect all the groups together?  2 - How do I insert the individual images? and 3 - How do I get those individual images to stay visible long enough for people to read the text?
As Bogesian says, this may be best done in Premiere or another editing application.  If you do it in AE, you can import the image sequences as single pieces of footage, and the individual images as individual images.  Then you add the footage to an AE comp: the easiest way is to add the first image sequnce to the make comp icon at the bottom of the project window, let AE make the comp, and then change the comp's duration in the comp settings.  You then add the footage items to the comp, moving them as needed along the timeline.  You can trim the out points of the single images to the duration you want.
But there could be a more fundamental problem: 30 fps is VERY RARELY a valid frame rate, especially if it's going to video, Blu-Ray or DVD:  the proper frame rate is almost always 29.97.  If it's goes to the web ONLY -- no possible chance of ever going to video, Blu-Ray or DVD -- 30 would be okay.  You need to double-check your frame rates.
And here are the tips on importing images or image sequences:

  • Imported image sequence in PP CC 2014 causes animated layers to flicker

I have a project which has a primary layer formed of imported JPGs that are in sequence. These are shots from a time lapse and are sequentially named and imported without issue into Premier Pro. I then have a secondary layer with a simple After Effects composition that comprises a slow fade and animation of some title text. The problem I have is that during playback in PP (or once rendered) the animation of the text in the AA layer flickers. Watching it frame by frame in the preview window it is slowly fading in but each alternate frame it's opacity seems to go back one frame before advancing.
Now I can completely fix this by exporting the image sequence clip in my bin to a video file. If I then replace the image sequence with a video made using exactly the same images it works fine and the animation is perfectly smooth. My question is why does PP not treat the imported image sequence the same as a video with its interaction with other layers?

    Hi there.
Looking at the footage, you are exporting at 24P. There are books written on 24P and how to shoot (or edit) for it. What I see as a possible mistake.
You are moving the photo too fast across the screen. That could be the same as panning too fast in 24P. Same result. The video clips are moving much slower and don't show the staggering.
    Give it a try.

  • How to create an animation with Image Sequence?

Im have Quicktime Pro and I want to make an animation. I tried selecting some pictures I have saved "random," but I could only select 1 at a time. So, Im thinking that making an Image Sequence is a separate operation from making it come alive? My question, how do I create an "image sequence?" Say I have a digital cam and I take 20 pictures? Thanks!

NEVERMIND!!!! I figured it out!! So once I have all the photos (ex: 1,2,3,4,5,6,7...) in a folder, I open image sequence with photo 1 and then it automatically collects the other images! Got it! Im sorry!!

  • Cs3- Help with Image sequence *ghosting* ?

Hi guys- newbie here that needs a little help.
Check out the attached screenshot of a paused .mov I put together.  What type of things/settings can cause this?  How do I make an exported image sequence play as a smooth succession of sharp and CLEAR images?
    Thanks for your insights/time!
    Mike

Here is an illustration of what might be happening. This is shown as it would appear on separate Video Tracks, in A-B Roll editing, as an example.
If the Duration of a set of Clips is shorter than the Duration of a Transition, then PrPro will have to "create" frames to allow for the Handles of the Transition(s).
If your Transitions are a full one sec. and your FPS = 24, the Transitions will take up 12 Frames per Clip. As each Clip has half of two Transitions, the Clip needs to be slightly longer than the 2 halves of the Transitions. Since you cannot edit to less than a single Frame, the Clips need to be at least 24 Frames and I'd look at 25 Frames long, or PrPro will create extra Frames from the first and the last Frames in the Clip - in your case the still frames that are repeated.
Hope that this helps and also cures your problem,
    Hunt

  • Exporting animated symbol to image sequence

    Hi guys!
I'm unable to export an animated symbol to image sequence properly because the symbol does not animate.
I created the tweens in multiple layers, then cut-pasted all layers to a new symbol. I did this so I could then just do some tween motions on the symbol.
The tweening is perfect, but when I export the image sequence, the images do not animate the way it does on the Flash player. All I get is an image sequence with the tweened symbol, but the symbol itself does not animate.
I'd really appreciate if you guys could give me a tip on how to get the symbol to animate when exporting the image sequence.
Alternatively, is there a way to motion-tween multiple layers simoultaneously? (Layers which are themselves tweened)
    Thank you guys!
Any additional info, I'll be checking regularly so I can provide as much description as possible to get this to work.

    Ok, I figured it out!
I changed the symbol type to "Graphic," and I was able to see the animation in the timeline. Easy!
Now I just exported the movie to png sequence, and bam! Magic!
If anyone has this problem, don't hesitate to ask me and I'll ellaborate on what I did.
    Thanks!

  • Animated Image Sequence

Hi, I am a year 3 computer science student at the National University of Singapore. I am currently doing a study on animated image sequence. The most popular format for animated image sequence is GIF. However, there are many people who feel that there are better formats available. One of the such format is the animated PNG (APNG). Despite its advantages over GIF, APNG has been rarely heard by content creators. One postulation is the lack of authoring tools and browser support, hence the lack of accessibility in creating such animations. I would like to ask if the future version of Photoshop will ever allow the creation of APNG files. If no, why not? Will the key reason be due to the lack of browser support?

I think that you first need to get Animated PNG supported by all Browsers good luck there.
A problem may also exist I have seen at least  are two different animated PNG file formats around for animated PNGs. One file format is more like a frame strip used for animated icons. The orher format  some browsers support. There are also some plug-ins that support animated PNG for some browsers. It seems that these animated PNG files may or may not be optimized. I have seen large non optimize animated I created fail to animate in a browsers with animated PNG support.
Animated PNG look so much better then animated GIF because of poor color capability of the GIF format. The optimized animated PNG file I have seen are not that much larger then animated GIF.
I have a Chrome plug-in installed on my machine and did create a test page  Animated GIF vs Animated PNG http://www.mouseprints.net/APNG/GIFvsPNG.html

  • Export to image sequence help required

In QT Pro this seems to work fine but when I look in the folder I have saved all the images, they are all the same! 6000 of the same frame...what I am doing wrong? I want to take an image sequence of each different frame from the movie

    Off topic:
You don't want to show your new bride more than a dozen (flattering) from the video as "still image" files. I've had two wives and have gone through the experience.
Another fact of QuickTime video to still image format is the image quality found in those exports. They will be sized the same as the current display size of your video (expand the window prior to export to get a larger dimension) but you will not be able to print out copies at more than postage stamp sizes.
Try an image sequence export using just a "selection" (you'll use the letter i and o keys to make one) and see if they export properly.

  • How to apply animated effects to image sequences?

I've heard many times that, if a certain effect isn't available in After Effects, "it's no problem", it can be added later in Photoshop.
I understand that an image sequence can be created, imported in PS, the effect applied to all files then exported.
What I don't get is how can someone animate such PS-based effects. Let's say I want the value of a certain parameter of that effect to follow a sine Bezier curve.
How do I do that in PS?
    Thanks.

Well...  Seems to me you could do at least SOME automation with scripting.  You could conceivably write a script that would drive whatever feature or plug-in you want to control across multiple images and feed slightly different parameters to it each time.  You'd have to get into the nuts & bolts a bit...  There's a scripting forum where they might be able to give you some additional ideas...

  • Help creating Shell/Applescript to automate creation of Image Sequences

    Hi Everyone,
I am currently getting into shell scripting (what fun it is!) and have created a couple of scripts that:-
    a) Take a picture with the iSight camera every minute and name them YYYY-MM-DD-HHMM.jpg
    b) Once every few hours move all images into folder YYYY-MM-DD so that all images are in one place.
What I want to do now is automate the process of creating the Image Sequence timelapse mov from QuickTime Pro.
Is this possible? Even if you just point me in the right direction I would be very grateful! I've been going around in circles and still haven't found out if I can do this.

If you're going to say "libreoffice, formally openoffice" you have to back that up with some truth.
    Thanks Eric.
My mistake. The last time I checked the opensource world was awash with statements to the effect that OO was dead. I then discovered that LibreOffice was picking up where OO left off.
I now see that OO is still going. So I guess people were making a fuss about nothing when the Oracle / Sun thing happened.
Either way, Apple Pages lacks the Navigation feature found in OO/LO, and Word. And that is what I'd like to find a way to work around.
I had to drop word on this kind of document because its way of handling numbered lists within paragraph styles was driving me nuts, as it had done for the person I was assisting, and has done for many other people I see have posted issues about that as far back as 2003 or earlier. So I switched my friends document over to Pages, as that's installed by default on her MBP. But she really wanted the document map functionality that was in Word. OO/LO was my next option, and the one I am running with for now.

  • Image sequence help needed

Hi people, first time posting, spent a while researching nobody seems to have covered this as far as i looked. I am dealing with about 1200 images in flash, in sequence, i tried importing the frames all at once and they all came up blank... for some reason they were red up until 315 and then the rest were blank, some were black. People have said that it is likely a ram issue? what the hell? the images total just under a half a gig and i have 8gb of ram, i looked at my processes and flash is only using about 3gb of ram. I tried importing about 100 images at a time, and i got to about 300 and again, the same issue started, after seeing them all work up to 300. I need to be able to take out a frame here or there from a video. I hope i need not exaplin more, the point is i need this image sequence to work, and i need to be able to see all 1200 frames and it simply is not working for me. Any solutions? flash has been driving me nuts lately.

This is a known limitation in Flash. Do note that the size of the image on the filesystem may say something like half a gig but once you take it into Photoshop you'll see the uncompressed actual size of the image (on the bottom of each window). For example a 52KB JPEG in Photoshop right now states it's 950.2K. I'm assuming your images are probably larger so you can quickly see how this becomes an issue. Open 700 52kb images and you're sitting at 7GB ram, 1GB for the OS and are now in pagefile (HD ram).
Flash is about being light weight. After Effects would sequence those images like nothing but Flash is not designed like that.
The solution depends on your needs. Why are you importing 1200 frames individually? If the frames make up a video (or several videos) you should create them in an actual video while saving huge amounts of disk space and processor, while also getting around this Flash limitation.
