Help: Policy Server consuming Oracle resources with ANALYZE operations

Dear all,
we have a problem with APS 7.0.2 on Win 2003 server R2 that uses an Oracle instance on HP-UX (but I suppose the problem is not related to the specific operating systems).
Apparently, Policy Server periodically produces queries Oracle for statistics but the generated load is so high that the database cannot work for some time and sometimes it is necessary to stop Policy Server and/or the database daemon.
Is it possible to disable statistics collection?
How?
Anybody has the same problem?

Solution
There are two workarounds at this moment:
1. You may use JRE v 1.6.0_23
2. Update the path to a physical address (for example
C:\Ora10gMID\Apache\Apache\htdocs\repcache) or URL (for example,
@ http://njwin20-v02.us.oracle.com:7779/repcache/) when creating the document record.

I migrate database from SQL Server to Oracle with SQL Server DTS. the process is success. I can select table_name from user_tables or user_objects. I also can see the table from DBA Studio. But When I use desc to list the structure of table in SQLPLUS. it tell me object don't exist.

Using Network Policy Server Polices in conjunction with RRAS on Server 2012 R2

Within the RRAS MMC console there is an option called Remote Access Logging & Polices.
If I right mouse click and can get to the NPS and tried to configure a couple of basic settings (e.g. group membership of Domain Admins required) for granting access.
However when testing this, the policy did not seem to apply (aka the user got on even though group membership was not correct).
I have made sure that the dial-in properties for the user was set to Control access through NPS Network Policy.
Q/ For the above to work, do I actually need to install the NPS role itself or can it work independently?

It seems that Remote Access logging and policy configuration is now performed through NPS since Windows server 2008.
As you have tested for this, I assume that you would need to install the NPS role to perform RADIUS accounting and Network Polices.

Help desiging a 10g Oracle Report with Matrix and Lexical Parameters - Long

I apologize in advance for this long post.... I'm using Oracle Reports 10g (9.0.4.0.33). First -- the question:
I need to create a Matrix where the rows come from one database table
(TABLE1) and the columns and cell contents come from a linked query (pulled from TABLE2) that is generated with lexical parameters based on the current TABLE1 row. The lexical parameters contain a WHERE clause for the TABLE2 query. Basically, I have a linked query between TABLE1 and TABLE2. I need to generate a Matrix around it.
Does anyone know if this is even possible?
Here's the background on the application, if that is helpful...
I have an application where I maintain database tables containing names/addresses along with information pertaining to them. As part of the processing, I need to produce reports that contain statistics based on values in the table. For example, each row has a field RTYPE that identifies the Record Type (1-Suppress, 2-Buyer, 3-Inquirer). Each row also has a last purchase date field. The statistics produced for this field would look like this:

Each cell contains the count of the number of records that have the corresponding RTYPE and Last Purchase date. The dates across the top are determined by the most recent purchase date in the file. We count the last 12 months, month by month, and then anything older than that is grouped by

There might be a better way to write this, but that isn't the issue at the moment.
I have many different tables, each with different fields. I need to produce counts on each of those fields. Some of those fields have a limited number of values where I need to count the occurrences and attach a description (like the RTYPE counts above). Others, like Last Purchase Amount, require counts within ranges (between 0 and 9.99, 10 and 19.99, etc.). Still others are "multiple choice"-style fields (such as products purchased), where we have multiple single-char flags that are not null when the corresponding products are purchased. In this case, we need to produce statistics that look like this:

The worst of the bunch is a field where I need to count the occurrence of each value within it (hundreds of values) without entering descriptions, so I don't know how many rows will appear ahead of time. This is used for "source codes" that identify where the name/address came from. They look similar to the RTYPE above, but the leftmost column contains each value from the field rather than a description. There are so many possible values and they change so often that it isn't feasible to enter a description for each one.
Right now, I manually create an Oracle Report for each table when I design/load it. This is becoming difficult to manage, since I have over 150 of them now. Each of these reports can have any number of matrices to display (the largest right now has about 25).
The new table structure to generate these reports consists of two tables: A COUNTHDR table and a COUNTROW table. The COUNTHDR table represents a single Matrix within the report. It contains info such as a heading for the Matrix and whether column totals should be calculated or not. The COUNTROW table contains a description for each row and an SQL Fragment that contains an appropriate WHERE clause to match the description. In the event of a "source code" style count, COUNTHDR has the name of the field to count. COUNTROWs won't exist, so I'll be handling those counts differently. But, ignoring that issue for now, the report structure looks like this:

Q2 is the query with lexical parameters for the table and "where clause" that identifies the actual statistic I need counted. I need fields from COUNTROW and COUNTDTL to form a Matrix.
Can this be done? How?
Of course, if anyone out there has a better idea on how to achieve my goal of not writing a report per table, please let me know!! :-)

PS. This structure does not exactly duplicate my original query, since multiple Matrix rows are created by the single SQL query given in the example. Instead, I'll end up executing an SQL query for each row, which is less than desirable. The design will need some tweaking...
PPS. I have tried handling this problem by pre-counting the target table and storing the results in a COUNTCOL table, containing the details of the matrix. This actually does work, but the performance is terrible. I have one "source code"-style count that generated over 20,000 detail cells, including all the "0" cells needed to fill out the matrix. If you don't generate the "0" cells, you get holes in the matrix presentation and/or error messages (which I can explain if you wish). I never did get Oracle Reports to print this one -- I gave up after an hour of runtime on a P4 3GHz machine connected via Gigabit Ethernet to the server. Hence the attempt to push the SQL Queries back into the Oracle Report itself.

Need help solving listener and Oracle problems with Mac OS X 10.4 "Tiger"

I have Oracle 10g working on Mac OS X 10.4 "Tiger" except for the listener and Oracle net 8 configuration. I have not been able to get the Oracle listener to work with my built in Mac Airport wireless network card or built in ethernet card. I keep getting the errors
connection refused cannot start listener. Can anyone offer help?

Copy Data SQL Server to Oracle

I need to migrate a data i.e only1 table from sql server to oracle 9.2.0.1.0. I've created system DSN connection also, but not working. I've tried all methods of destination like
1. Oracle Provider for OLE DB.
2. Microsoft ODBC Driver for Oracle.
But not able to get data into Oracle Table.
SQL Server gives message data transferred to Oracle.
But when queried, no rows selected.

Newbie question about Policy Server

Just installed Adobe's Creative Suite 2 Premium, which has LiveCycle. (It was one of those moments of "What's this?" then "Wow!" this is some program.
Does the software to install LiveCycle's Policy Server come with CS2 Premium? Or is there something else to buy?
My web sites are on a virtual server with an unique IP address. The OS is Linux with MySQL. Will this work?
Are there any good books on setting up a Policy Server?

How to install Oracle Policy Automation in Oracle Application Server?

We are planning to use OPA with Oracle Ebusiness Suite Release 12.1. We are running Oracle Application Server 11g. We want to deploy the Oracle Policy Automation components in same application server as Oracle Ebusiness Suite.
(a) How to install Oracle Determinations Engine, Oracle Web Determinations and Oracle Determinations Server on Oracle Application Server? The installation document for OPA doesnt have steps for Oracle Application Server.
(b) Which one is better, to deploy OPA in separate server or in same server as Oracle Ebusiness Suite?
(c) How to decide whether to use Java API's using Determination Engine or web services using Determination Server or UI of Web Determinations for our project? Or what factors should we consider?

(a) You should install the war files for Oracle Determination Server and Oracle Web Determinations as per normal war deployment - there's no special steps required, which is why it is not listed explicitly. There's no reason to deploy Oracle Determinations Engine itself to a web application server.
(b) "Better" tends to be more a subjective viewpoint, but if you already deploy all your web services on the same server as Oracle E-Business Suite then you should go the same for OPA. Same story for separate server deployment.
(c) Can't answer that without knowing why you are using OPA! If you are looking to integrate with Oracle E-Business Suite then Oracle Determinations Server would be the sensible choice. Web Determinations is most useful if you want a sensible way to collect or review the relevant assessment data for determinations, as well as for "self service" scenarios. Determinations Engine should be used if you have a completely bespoke integration scenario that can't make use of web services or web applications - but I can't think of a scenario where this would make sense if you are using Oracle E-Business Suite.
Of course, these are just my views - others may feel more strongly one way or the other!

Does URL Policy Agent of SunONE Web Server 6.1 works with Identity Server 6

I'm using URL Policy Agent of SunONE Web Server 6.1, and using Identity Server 6.1 to configure policy to access web resource such as http://myweb.org.cn/test/*
After configyration, I try to access the resources http://myweb.org.cn/test/test.html
The redirection is ok, the IS login appear, but after login successfully, it still tell me that I don't have permission to view this web page.
Is this because of URL policy agent don't support IS 6.1?

NAC Framework with TrendMicro Policy Server? External Posture Assessment?

I've got a NAC Framework 2.1 setup using NAC-L2-802.1x with 2950 switches and so far it's working great. I've recently begun testing NAC with TrendMicro OfficeScan, which includes the Trend Policy Server for Cisco NAC.
I've imported the Trend.adf file, created a new Internal Posture Validation to check these TrendAV settings (DAT version, protection enabled, etc) and it is working great with the clients. (Healthy if up to date, quarantined if out of date).
What I'm trying to do is get this integrated with the Trend Policy Server for Cisco NAC. I've created an External Posture Validation entry for the Trend Policy Server;

And have supplied it with the password (no username is needed to login to the web console of this server). I've also selected Trend:AV as the forwarding credential. I've gone into Network Access Profiles and made sure this was selected as an External Posture Validation Server and set it to quarantine under "Failure Posture Token". When I test this from the client (once I've enable External Posture Validation), it always ends up quarantined (even though the client is fully up to date). If I disable the External Posture Validation server from the NAP, the client test passes as Healthy (since all AV is up to date).
I've got the Policy Server for Cisco NAC defined under NAC on my Trend OfficeScan server, and on the Policy Server for Cisco NAC, I've got the OfficeScan server defined. Yet, no matter what I've tried, the client always fails with this msg in the CSACS logs;
Posture Validation Failure on External Policy
Does anyone have any experience or help with this. Thanks very much.

Oracle AQ with Orion 2.0 application server

Hi,
I'm trying to use Oracle AQ/JMS as queue for a J2EE message driven bean running in an Orion 2.0 application server.
To connect the bean with the queue I have to configure a resource provider. By now, the only resource provider I found is the class oracle.jms.OjmsContext witch is included in the oc4j.jar file of oracles J2EE container.
So the question is, is there a way to use Oracle AQ as infrastructure for message driven beans with other J2EE servers then Oracles OC4J?

I think you got me a little wrong (because of my poor english).
I hoped that somebody can tell me if there is a java library (jar) that I can use to use Oracle AQ with Orion 2.0 for message driven beans.
I'm wondering why the class OjmsContext is only availiable in the main jar of the Oracle J2EE container. I think it would be very usefull to have an extra library containing all the stuff needed to use AQ with other application servers.

Is there any Java API to interact/integrate with Adobe LiveCycle Policy Server

We are already using Adobe LiveCycle Policy server & has manual process in place to send documents to clients.
Going forward we want to automate this document generation process. We are using Java, JEE in our application.
We are planning to use below steps to automate this process.
1) Administrator will create a Template in Adobe Policy Server and will map users intended to receive mails with this template
2) Our application will interact with Adobe Policy Server and use Template ID to generate PDF document and send mails to client.
Can anyone please let me know if there is any Java API which can be used to perform the above second step.

Problems with deploying application to Policy Server 7.2.1 & DSS 7.2.2

Hiya - I've been using Policy Server 7.0.2 and Document Security Server 7.0.2 to policy protect PDFs. I've recently just installed Policy Server 7.2.1 & DSS 7.2.2 on another machine and am now trying to use the same EJB deployed on the previous PS & DSS on the newer versions. Unfortunately I'm running into some problems which I don't really understand. Basically I can deploy the EJB (called PolicyApplication.jar) and it appears to deploy OK - it appears in the jmx-console (I'm using jboss 3.2.5), but when I try and attach to it from my remote application I get the following error (see stack trace below). I'm using SSL and have imported the certificates into the java environment cacerts files for both the client & the server. Looking through the stack trace I get the error 'Error looking up PolicyManagerEJB -- Cannot connect to server' and the application seems to be trying to make a connection to localhost and being refused, but I don't really understand why it's being refused. Basically I have DSS & PS running on the same instance of jboss - the client is running on a different machine, so I have permissioned through the firewall port 1099. I seem to be able to use <servername>/edc/Main.do with no problems at all.
