Help with assignment

I have already done part 1 but I cant get part 2 can someone please help me and give me a good example or show me the correct way to do #2
my part one looks like this :
import java.text.DecimalFormat;
public class ElapsedTime {
     private int nDays;
     private int nHours;
     private int nMinutes;
     private int ETime;
     //This creats an object of ElapsedTime in total minutes
     public ElapsedTime(int days, int hours, int minutes) {
          nDays = days * 1440;
          nHours= hours *60;
          nMinutes= minutes;
          ETime = nDays + nHours + nMinutes;
          ETime = Math.abs(ETime);
     //This sets the current time interval according to its parameters
     public void setTime(int days, int hours, int minutes){
          ETime = (days * 1440) + (hours * 60) + minutes;
          ETime = Math.abs(ETime);
     //This adds time to the current time interval
     public void addTime(int days, int hours, int minutes){
          ETime += (days * 1440) + (hours * 60) + minutes;
          ETime = Math.abs(ETime);
     //This returns the number of days in the current time interval
     public int getDays(){
          nDays = ETime / 1440;
          return (nDays);
     //This returns the number of hours in the current time interval
     public int getHours(){
          nHours = (ETime % 1440) / 60;
          return (nHours);
     //calculates and stores the number of minutes with the remainder minutes
     //of the getHours() method
     public int getMinutes(){
          nMinutes = (ETime % 1440) % 60;
          return (nMinutes);
     //This returns a String object representing the current time interval
     //in days, hours and minutes
     public String toString(){
          DecimalFormat fmt = new DecimalFormat("00");
          return (getDays() + ":" + fmt.format(getHours()) + ":" + fmt.format(getMinutes()));
Part 1. Write a class to represent a time interval, named ElapsedTime. This class represents elapsed time in days, hours, and minutes. It might be used by a shipping company to estimate and keep track of how long their vessels are at sea. If the trip takes 7 1/2 days, the elapsed time would be 7 days, 12 hours and 0 minutes. Represent the current time interval as a number of minutes, stored in an int Java variable.
Constructor: ElapsedTime(int days, int hours, int minutes)
This creates an object of the ElapsedTime class whose instance data is initialized according to the parameters of the constructor. For example, if the invocation of the constructor is ElapsedTime(0, 0, 0) an object is created representing a time interval of zero minutes. You may assume that all three parameters are never negative.
Other public methods:
void setTime(int days, int hours, int minutes)
setTime sets the current time interval according to its parameters. For example, if the method invocation is setTime(7,3,22) the time interval is 10,282 minutes. If the method invocation is setTime(0,0,10282) the time interval is set the same as in the previous example. You may assume that all three parameters are never negative.
void addTime(int days, int hours, int minutes)
addTime adds to the object's current time interval according to its parameters. For example, if the method invocation is addTime(1,0,0) the time interval is increased by 1440 minutes (there are 1440 minutes in a day). One or all of the three parameters may be negative or zero. Use the class method Math.abs() to make sure that your instance data (the number of minutes) is always non-negative. For example, if the current time interval is 1 minute, and the method invocation is addTime(0,0,-2) the resultant time interval should be 1 minute (NOT -1 minute).
int getDays()
getDays returns the number of days not exceeded by the current time interval. This is never negative. For example, if the current time interval is 1439 minutes (one minute short of a day), getDays will return 0. If the current time interval is 1441 minutes (one minute more than a day), getDays will return 1.
int getHours()
getHours returns the number of hours in the current time interval after all whole days are taken out. This is never negative and never exceeds 23. For example, if the current time interval is 1439 minutes (one minute short of a day), getHours will return 23. If the current time interval is 1441 minutes (one minute more than a day), getHours will return 0.
int getMinutes()
getMinutes returns the number of minutes in the current time interval after all whole days and all whole hours are taken out. This is never negative and never exceeds 59. For example, if the current time interval is 1439 minutes (one minute short of a day), getMinutes will return 59. If the current time interval is 1441 minutes (one minute more than a day), getMinutes will return 1.
String toString()
toString returns a String object representing the current time interval in days, hours and minutes. The form of the String should be <days>:<hours>:<minutes>, where <days> is at least one digit, <hours> is always two digits between 00 and 23 and <minutes> is always two digits between 00 and 59. You can use the DecimalFormat class with a pattern of "00" to force a number to be represented by a string with a leading zero. For example, if the current time interval is 1441 minutes (one minute more than a day), the String object will contain 1:00:01. If the current time interval is 1439 minutes (one minute less than a day) the String object will contain 0:23:59.
Part 2. Write a test program to test the ElapsedTime class. The program should be written as a separate class. In the test program, test each method with parameters supplied by your program to see if it works. Test programs like this are usually rather long (several pages) but pretty simple to write. For each test, use JOptionPane.showMessageDialog() (or System.out.println) to output what the test is and what the results are. For example, suppose you are testing the constructor and the toString method. You call the constructor as ElapsedTime(0,0,1441). The JOptionPane would look like:

Well, in this instance, I am for once happy with what a teacher is teaching. Test driven development is a good thing, and I am glad to see students are learning it early. (We would do well to do the same where I am working!)
That having been said, you have two options: either System.out.println() or using a Swing dialog. IMO, the former is a lot easier. You will have to write boilerplate Swing code just to get the dialog to show. So, if the assignment is agnostic as to which method you should use to validate your test results, go for println().
As for writing the test class itself, this is normally an easy process. Create another class and give it a main() method. You can execute all your tests within the main() method itself, so a constructor, methods, etc. will not be necessary.
What you want to do is create an instance of your test object. This will in effect test your constructor. If there are multiple constructors, instantiate your object with each possible constructor. Then move onto the methods. If a given constructor sets instance variables, you can complete several test steps in one execution by calling the relevant accessor (getter) methods in the target class. Call mutator (setter) methods and then call the accessor methods to validate the variables are being set and retrieved properly. Finally, call any algorithm or calculation intensive methods.
Generally, you will want to use the same set of test data for each run. So, you should be able to pre-calculate the results of any algorithms ahead of time. Verify in your testing class that the result of the method is as expected.

  • Desperate student in need of help with assignment =(

    Please skip this bit if you don't want to read the things that led to this point
    Hi, Im ICTstudent. Im trying to finish school before the summer holidays and find a job so I can afford an appartment to live in with my girlfriend.
    I have an assignment that I need to finish asap because of the nearing summer holidays. My coach told me that it should take me about a weekend to finish it, so I asked my teacher to send me all the relevant data. after downloading oracle express edition etc, i installed them on vista and encountered a lot of problems (which I finally resolved thanks to this fantastic forum!)
    However, this means that I have been working on this assignment for 2 days already. Just when I wanted to start working on the Form I need to build, I discovered that my teacher had sent me the wrong DB model :s :s :s I now had to rebuild the entire db =(
    So, almost 2 days later I built the new db and basic form (which is filling the tables on the form with the db records) in Forms Builder. Now ive spent almost double the time i should have on this assignment, and I have to build a number of constraints... I have no clue how to even start with these =( That's why I'm asking you guys for help. I know its a lot to ask for, but I really have no other ideas.
    Thanks for any help you can offer me
    The assignment I got from my teacher:
    Create a master detail form that looks like this:
    http://img222.imageshack.us/img222/4531/masterdetail.jpg
    Which I did, It fills it up nicely with data from the DB, except for the following things:
    Number of highest bids:
    The number of highest bids the bidder has in the itemlist (if it exceeds the minimum price).
    Include the following constraint:
    bid.date needs to be in time for the auction. This means that it must be before auction.date.
    Add a function that:
    When activated, changes all the “Bid number” numbers into the number which has the highest bid, as long as it is higher then the min price.
    Tables:
    Bid:
    bidID
    auctionlistID
    memberID
    bid
    date
    member:
    memberID
    name
    adres
    city
    auctionlist:
    auctionlistID
    description
    maxbid
    minbid
    auction:
    auctionID
    date
    index:
    auctionID
    auctionlistID
    Thanks for reading :)

    You get marks for honesty. Often students who post here don't admit to their status. Some responders seems to be wound up by students asking for help. I don't know why, maybe they've forgotten what it was like to be a beginner. Me, I'm happy as long as I get a course credit.
    By the way, a set of CREATE TABLE scripts is generally more helpdul than bald DESC statements.
    Your BID table doesn't seem to have a column for amount, which will make it hard to implement Number of highest bids Unless that is what the BID column means, in which case it needs a clearer name.
    Include the following constraint will have to be done as a input validation in the form, as these sorts of cross-table constraints are hard to implement in the database. Come to think of it, you probably want to include some input validation to ensure that a new BID meets the MINAMT.
    Add a function that not sure what the point of that function would be.
    Having read through your post I think you are in the wrong forum. This is a database PL/SQL forum; really you should be asking your question in [the Forms forum|http://forums.oracle.com/forums/forum.jspa?forumID=82]
    Which leads me to my last point: what is your question? You have given us lots of info but you haven't explained what you need from us.
    Good luck
    Cheers, APC

    i have to apologize to jittei for the misunderstand i do not know which defination of terms is for which line of code but i know what they do, to solve the problem i have actually made another class in the workspace file called students and now all the bottons work, all i have to do now is properly arrange and put in some additional lines of code and it will be completed. teacher gave me the idea of putting in a new class to help in calling codes from other subclasses in the main program. ah well guess non of you could think of that thanks for the help-ish and hope yall will atleast try to be nice to new people that come in the room. the new coding is:
    of course all the commented out lines are not being used in the program anymore but just there till i have the program working with everything in it runs and performs the actions required now though ^_^

  • Help with assignment expression

    Hi All,
    I'd like to ask you for help regarding one assignment in MDM.
    We have text field: "Material_Long_Description" (as a concatenation of 8 attributes) - the field length is unlimited, e.g.:
    "attribute1,attribute2,attribute3,attribute4,attribute5,attribute6,attribute7,attribute8".
    We need to have "Material_Short_Description" - limited to 40 symbols so I have created assignment:
    LEFT(Material Long Description,40) and the result is: "attribute1,attribute2,attribute3,attribu",
    but we also need not to have cut one of the attributes on the middle and half attribute and teh comma(",attribu") to be removed - the aim is in this case to have: "attribute1,attribute2,attribute3".
    I've tryed with function FIND but didn't find solution.
    This was implemented in SQL Database with the following query:
    set Material_Short_Description = left(Material_Long_Description,(40 - locate(",", reverse(left(Material_Long_Description,40)))))
    and it works perfectly well, but such a function "reverse" does not exists in MDM.
    Any suggestions how we can implement this logic in MDM without API programing?
    Thanks in advance,
    ILIN

    Hi llin,
    You are retrieving these attributes values which you have given in Attribute text values for attribute name in taxonomy mode. Why don't you change these values there itself in taxonomy mode for Attribute values.
    like you have Attribute A who has text values as 3 - 4 and 5 - 6, change it to 3-4 and 5-6 rather than using any logic in assignment expression.
    If you still want to use assignment expression for the same then it would be really lengthy but it is working fine at my end.
    I denote Attribute1 = A1, Attribute2 = A2 and so-on till Attribute8 = A8
    This expression you will run on Material_Long_Description, i mean on text large field.
    I understand you don't want to maintain space for Short description, but i would suggest as you populate concatenation of attribute values data on Material_Long_Description, why don't at this point of time you take care of space and populate your Material_Long_Description free from space character. Further when you populate this data in Short Description, you just need to use logic as given by me above and don't need to bother about space character for Attribute values as they are already corrected while populating Material_Long_Description.
    Assumption:
    I am assuming whenever "-" hyphen character comes it is always append and prep-end with space character " ".
    I mean, you have always values as "3 - 4" or "3-4" in attribute not as "3 -4" or "3- 4"
    Procedure:
    Create an Assignment: give the Assignment field as Material_Long_Description.
    Now right click on this assignment-->Add Branch.
    Select the Branch Value of that category: Write Assignment Expression here in this Add Branch Assignment as given below:
    IF(MID(A1,FIND(A1,"-")-1,1)=" " AND
    MID(A1,FIND(A1,"-")+1,1)=" ",
    LEFT(A1,FIND(A1,"-")-2)
    &MID(A1,FIND(A1,"-"),1)
    &MID(A1,FIND(A1,"-")+2),
    A1)&","&
    IF(MID(A2,FIND(A2,"-")-1,1)=" " AND
    MID(A2,FIND(A2,"-")+1,1)=" ",
    LEFT(A2,FIND(A2,"-")-2)
    &MID(A2,FIND(A2,"-"),1)
    &MID(A2,FIND(A2,"-")+2),
    A2) and so-0n till 8th Attribute(A8)
    Logic: 1stly it will look Attribute value which has space character " " before and after Hyphen "-", eg "3 - 4", then it will populate value as 3-4, else if it doesn't find space character " " before and after "-" Hyphen it will just put there same attribute value. e.g if it is already 3-4, it will just place it same as 3-4.
    Just check this above expression and revert with the result, It is working fine at my end.
    Thanks and Regards,

  • Help with assignment- buttons that control movie clips

    I am pretty new to flash and my professor gave us an assignment with little help or tutorials.
    He wants us to create a SWF that features a house and it's front yard and two buttons.
    One button that says Sunrise, and one that says Sunset.
    When I push the sunrise button, the sun needs to rise above the house and stay there.  When I push the Sunset button, it needs to set- and then a ufo needs to land on the lawn.
    So i think I have a pretty good grasp on the assignment, but the actionscript is throwing me off.  How can I make buttons that will control the sun movie clip to rise- stay above the house, and then set?  The ufo is a whole new matter.   The sunset button should make the sun lower and then a ufo land on the lawn.
    Please help explain/link me to the proper tutorials.   One thing that i'm worried about is that the sun will rise- and then stay above the house even if i click the sunset button.
    Your help is greatly appreciated.

    Well i can think of a few ways to do this.
    Depending on what you have been taught so far you should be able to do this if you know how to make a button, a movie clip, and the basic script for the timeline. ie. play,stop, gotoandplay etc.
    I understand you have been set a task and you want the answer straight away. But i doubt he would have given you anything you couldn't handle. Also I learnt more from trial and error and searching the net than from most of my teachers at coll and uni, It's frustrating i know, but the buzz you get when you finally crack it is amazing. Stick in there!
    That being said i remember the panic I suffered and like to help so here's a thought:
    You could just have the 2 buttons play a basic movie clip. The sky could rotate one way to make the sun rise and add a "stop" in the actions to make it stay there, and to the left to sunset with both images together but not being shown all the time by using a mask. You could even add in the ufo to the clip but this would only work if you added an extra part to the movie so that when the ufo has landed it flys out again and then begins to rotate the sun and moon again. ( buttons would be dissabled during the play modes to avoid chaos) This is just a quick thought. I'm sure there are several ways of doing this depending on how fancy it needs to be.
    If your teacher really has given you no notes on buttons,movieclips and actionscript i would sujest Adobe TV. Nice videos that explain step by step. OR try downloading a tutorial file with buttons and movie clips and look at the coding they use in the file. Thats how i have learnt most of it since finishing Uni.
    Good Luck

  • Please help with assigning user to a group in AD using dbms_ldap

    Dear gurus of Apex and LDAP!
    Please help me a bit.
    I managed to create any user in AD from Apex using dbms_ldap package and set many of his attributes. But I cannot set that my user belongs to specific group, let's say MY_GROUP. I guess the name of attribute for group is 'member' or 'memberOf', so I tried them both in the same way as I've done for other attributes:
    v_vals(1) := 'MY_GROUP';
    DBMS_LDAP.populate_mod_array(v_array, DBMS_LDAP.MOD_ADD, 'member', v_vals);
    I've got LDAP client/server error: CONSTRAINT violation. 000020B5: AtrErr: DSID-031516FC, #1: 0: 000020B5:
    DSID-031516FC, problem 1005 (CONSTRAINT_ATT_TYPE), DATA 0, Att 1f (MEMBER)
    v_vals(1) := 'MY_GROUP';
    DBMS_LDAP.populate_mod_array(v_array, DBMS_LDAP.MOD_ADD, 'memberOf', v_vals);
    I've got LDAP client/server error: DSA IS unwilling TO perform. 0000209A: SvcErr: DSID-031A0929, problem 5003 (WILL_NOT_PERFORM), DATA 0
    After that I've tried to extend group name to string, which is shown in LDAP browser for attribute 'memberOf' (when I've added it manualy):
    v_vals(1) := 'CN=MY_GROUP,OU=GROUPS,OU=Allianz,DC=allianz,DC=com';
    DBMS_LDAP.populate_mod_array(v_array, DBMS_LDAP.MOD_ADD, 'member', v_vals);
    I've got LDAP client/server error: OBJECT CLASS violation. 0000207D: UpdErr: DSID-03150913, problem 6002 (OBJ_CLASS_VIOLATION), DATA 0
    v_vals(1) := 'CN=MY_GROUP,OU=GROUPS,OU=Allianz,DC=allianz,DC=com';
    DBMS_LDAP.populate_mod_array(v_array, DBMS_LDAP.MOD_ADD, 'memberOf', v_vals);
    LDAP client/server error: DSA IS unwilling TO perform. 0000209A: SvcErr: DSID-031A0929, problem 5003 (WILL_NOT_PERFORM), DATA 0
    I've also tried some other variants (without 'CN=' and without 'OU=GROUPS,OU=Allianz'), but still no success.
    Search of this forum and even google didn't help either :(
    Please, help me to find the correct syntax for it or tell me if it's not possible.
    Thanx in advance,
    Vladimir

    Vladimir ,
    firstly the attributes member and memberOf are special attributes in AD having a set of predefined values. Hence an error will be thrown if you try to assign them values like 'MY_GROUP'. There are two basic solutions to this problem : Either you define an OU in your AD which will act as your 'MY_GROUP'. This is a quick fix solution and is not robust at all. The other solution is to add your own property in the tree , something like 'roleCode', you can then assign it any value you want.
    But the problem now is, AD does not allow addition of new attributes in the structure. You have to use ADAM in for this and you can specify a common linking mechanism between AD and ADAM now such as email address can act as the link between both the directories.
    Hope this helps

    I'm new to this forum, but I wanted to check here for help first...I have the following assignment:
    Implement a method that will compute the present value of a stream of future payments that leaves a final balance. The parameters to the method will be the monthly payment, the annual interest rate, the number of months, and the final balance.
    You can compute this by working backwards from the final balance. Given the balance at the end of the month, add the payment and divide by (1 + monthly-rate). This will give the balance at the beginning of the month. Do this as many times as months. The resulting balance is the present value.
    This should also be tested. Do this by picking some values for the present value and using your function. Then, use the method from class to take the present value, the interest rate, the monthly payments and the number of months and compute the final balance. This should match the chosen value. Repeat this for several values of the parameters that you choose.
    I was able to use the method from class to compute the final balance, but I'm confused as to how to work it backwards. Here's my code so far...

        public static void main(String[] args) {
            // Enter the loan parameters to compute the final balance
            double START_BALANCE = 13969;
            double ANNUAL_RATE = .08;
            double MONTHLY_PAYMENT = 200;
            int NUMBER_OF_MONTHS = 10;
            double present_value = START_BALANCE;
            for( int month = 1; month <= NUMBER_OF_MONTHS; month ++ ){
                System.out.println("Month #" + month);
                double interest = present_value * ANNUAL_RATE / 12;
                present_value = present_value + interest - MONTHLY_PAYMENT;
                System.out.println(  "    interest:   " + interest);
                System.out.print("    new balance: " + present_value);
    }Can someone please help me to understand what I need to do here? Thank you to anyone who's able to help.

    Implement a method....
    This mean write a NEW method, don't shove everything into the main method. All those other things it mentions in the assignment should be passed in as parameters.

  • Help with assigning package for new program!Urgent please!

    We upgraded to ECC6.0 and I am trying to create a new function group. I go to se80 --> create new function group --> Enter some text for the function group and then it prompts me to assign a package. I select a package (used to be development class in 4.6C) and when I click on save I get the following error:
    "PACKAGE IN NON-ORIGINAL SYSTEM ONLY MODIFIABLE WITH ORGANIZER TOOLS". Could anyone please tell me how to solve this problem? Thanks in advance.
    Mithun.

    Thanks for the reply Seshu. The package already exists in the new system and I am not sure why i am getting the error!!
    Thanks.
    Mithun.

  • Please help with assignement

    ok so i have this assignment and im nearly 80 % done. here's what i have to do: Play a number guessing game. This game is to have the computer pick a number
    between 1 and 30. Take this number, and pass it into a method that allows for the user
    to guess it. Let the computer tell the user to pick a higher or lower number if they guess
    wrong. If the guess is right, use another method to pick one of 3 random responses
    congratulating them.
    here is my code so far:

    public class CPTaa
        static Console c; // The output console
        public static void main (String[] args)

    int dice1, dice2, dice4, dice5, num;
                        double dice3;
                        dice1 = (int) (Math.random () * 100) + 1;
                        c.print (dice1);

                        num = 100;
                        for (int i = 0 ; i < num ; i++)
                            c.print ("Enter a number from 1 to 100: ");
                            dice2 = c.readInt ();
                            if (dice2 > dice1)
                                c.print ("Smaller ");
                            if (dice2 < dice1)
                                c.print ("Higher ");
                            if (dice1 == dice2)
                                c.print ("You got it right");
    }i need to do the 3 random congratulations part

    Follow your specs and create some methods. Do not cram everything into the main method. Also the specs say from 1 to 30 but you have 1 to 100.

  • I need help with assigning an ip Address

    Hi,
    I'm trying to connect my macbook pro to an xbox 360 for xbox live. My problem is that when I try to connect, my computer says that my computer does not have an IP Address for it. Does anyone no how to fix this?

    Sorry, MBP = MacBook Pro.
    What is your desired network configuration? If I understand your post, is it something like the following?
    DSL/Cable modem > (Ethernet cable) > [Ethernet port] MBP [AirPort] > (wireless) > XBox 360

  • Need help with calculator project for an assignment...

    Hi all, I please need help with my calculator project that I have to do for an assignment.
    Here is the project's specifications that I need to do"
    """Create a console calculator applicaion that:
    * Takes one command line argument: your name and surname. When the
    program starts, display the date and time with a welcome message for the
    user.
    * Display all the available options to the user. Your calculator must include
    the arithmetic operations as well as at least five scientific operations of the
    Math class.
    -Your program must also have the ability to round a number and
    truncate it.
    -When you multiply by 2, you should not use the '*' operator to perform the
    operation.
    -Your program must also be able to reverse the sign of a number.
    * Include sufficient error checking in your program to ensure that the user
    only enters valid input. Make use of the String; Character, and other
    wrapper classes to help you.
    * Your program must be able to do conversions between decimal, octal and
    hex numbers.
    * Make use of a menu. You should give the user the option to end the
    program when entering a certain option.
    * When the program exits, display a message for the user, stating the
    current time, and calculate and display how long the user used your
    program.
    * Make use of helper classes where possible.
    * Use the SDK to run your program."""
    When the program starts, it asks the user for his/her name and surname. I got the program to ask the user again and again for his/her name and surname
    when he/she doesn't insert anything or just press 'enter', but if the user enters a number for the name and surname part, the program continues.

    What you could do is checking the input string for numbers. If it contains numbers, just reprompt for the Name.

    Hi everybody,
    The assignment asks for the definition of three remote interfaces ICompany, IProject and IStaff, define one 1:M relationship (ICompany -> IProject) and print on the console the company together with the projects they have placed. There is no requirement for a DB therefore i've create a method on the server
    populateDummyDB(ProjectImpl proj)that fills a Vector with projects with their coresponding company ID's.
    I've also created a company instance on the server which i successfully print on the client by callingprintCompany(Object obj) but i need help with theprintProjects() so that as soon the company is printed it searches the Vector for projects that have the same companyID matches the PK with the FK and print those projects.
    Any help will be more than welcome.
    Regards,
    Nick Paicopoulos
    BSc Applied Computing.

    Thanks for the reply and sorry for the vagueness.
    The company is created and bound to RMI on the Server
    CompanyImpl myCom = new CompanyImpl("101234", "WH Smith",
                        "Nick Parks", null);
    myCom.bindToRMI("com1"); also on the Server the Vector that is defined in the ProjectImpl.java is populated
    public static void populateDummyDB(ProjectImpl proj)
                throws RemoteException {
            proj.addProject(new ProjectImpl("Project A", "10 Feb 2005", 11000,
                    "101234", null, null));
            proj.addProject(new ProjectImpl("Project B", "16 Feb 2005", 8700,

            proj.addProject(new ProjectImpl("Project C", "19 Feb 2005", 17400,
                    "130928", null, null));
            proj.addProject(new ProjectImpl("Project D", "27 Feb 2005", 12800,
                    "178745", null, null));
            proj.addProject(new ProjectImpl("Project E", "04 Mar 2005", 9760,
                    "101234", null, null));
            proj.addProject(new ProjectImpl("Project F", "09 Mar 2005", 5340,

            proj.addProject(new ProjectImpl("Project G", "13 Mar 2005", 15290,
                    "101234", null, null));
            proj.addProject(new ProjectImpl("Project H", "17 Mar 2005", 5780,
                    "101234", null, null));
            proj.addProject(new ProjectImpl("Project I", "23 Mar 2005", 20100,

            proj.addProject(new ProjectImpl("Project J", "30 Mar 2005", 6780,
                    "130928", null, null));
    } The company is printed successfully on the Client
    public class HKClientView{
        public static void main(String[] args) {
            HKClientView cmdUI = new HKClientView();
        public static final String SERVER_NAME = "localhost";
        public HKClientView() {
            ICompany yourCom = getRemoteCompany();
            try {
                CompanyTO yourComData = yourCom.getCompanyData();
                printCompany(yourComData);
    //            printProjects();
            } catch (RemoteException re) {
                System.out.println("Exception thrown while creating company "
                        + "instance! " + re);
        private ICompany getRemoteCompany() {
            ICompany myCompany = null;
            ProjectImpl myProject = null;
            try {
                myCompany = (ICompany) Naming.lookup("//" + SERVER_NAME + "/com1");
            } catch (Exception e) {
                System.out.println("Exception thrown while creating company "
                        + "instance! " + e);
            return myCompany;
        private void printCompany(Object obj) {
            System.out.println(obj.toString());
    } If you look closely at my dummy DB table four out of the ten projects belong to the company that i've created since the have common companyID = "101234". How can i get those projects printed on the Client?

  • Im DROWNING! need help with a simple java assignment! plz someone help me!

    i need help with my java assignment, with validating a sin number. easy for must who know java. im drowning... please help!

    You will need to store each digit of the social insurance number in a field of its own. To validate the entry you will:
    1. Multiply the 2nd, 4th, 6th and 8th digit by 2.
    2. If the product of any of the four multiplications result in a value greater than 9, add the two resulting digits together to yield a single-digit response. For example 6 * 2 = 12, so you would add the 1 and the 2 to get a result of 3.
    3. Add these four calculated values together, along with the 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 7th digits of the original number.
    4. Subtract this sum from the next highest multiple of 10.
    5. The difference should be equal to the 9th digit, which is considered the check digit.
    Example of validating S.I.N. 765932546
    1st digit 7
    2nd digit (6*2 =12 1+2=) 3
    3rd digit 5
    4th digit (9*2 = 18 1+8 =) 9
    5th digit 3
    6th digit (2*2 = 4) 4
    7th digit 5
    8th digit (4*2 = 8) 8
    Total 44 next multiple of 10 is 50
    50-44 = 6 which is the 9th digit
    Therefore the S.I.N. 765932546 is Valid
    ********* SIN Validation *********
    Welcome - Please enter the first number: 120406780
    Second digit value multiplied by 2 4
    Fourth digit value multiplied by 2 8
    Sixth digit value multiplied by 2 12
    Eighth digit value multiplied by 2 16
    Value derived from 6th digit 3
    Value derived from 8th digit 7

  • Help with JAVA StringObject - & assign user input; StringMethod

    Hi Everyone! I need help with this Java Program, I need to write a program, single class, & file. That will prompt the user to enter a word. The output will be separted by hypens and do this until the user enters exit. I think this is done by using a string variable. Then use the length of the word to setup a loop to print each letter out with hypens. (example c-a-t)
    1. I think I should store the word like this: Word.Method(). Not sure of this the API was confusing for me because I wasn't sure of what to do.
    2. A string method to find out how many letters are in the user's word in order to setup a loop to print each letter out. I think I can use a While loop to accomplish this?
    3. A string method to access each letter in a string object individually in order to print individual letters to the screen with those hypens. This is really confusing for me? Can this be accomplished in the While loop? or do I declare variables in the main method.
    Any examples you can refer me to would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

    Getting user input:
    This may look strange to a newbie but there's nothing much you can do since you wanted a single class file:import java.io.*
    public class InputTest {
       public static void main(String[] args) {
          BufferedReader in = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(System.in));
          System.out.println("Hi! Please type a word and press enter.");
          String lineReadFromUser = in.readLine();
          System.out.println("You typed " + lineReadFromUser);
    }You can get the lenght of a String using the length() method. Example: int len = "Foobar".length();
    You can get the individual characters of a String with the charAt() method. Example: char firstCharOfString = string.charAt(0);
    (remember that the argument must be from 0 to length-1)
    You can access the documentation of all classes, including java.lang.String, at http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.3/docs/api/index.html You can also download the docs.

  • Creation of context sensitive help with pure FM 12 usage doesn't work

    Hi,
    I hope somebody is able to help me with a good hint or tip.
    I am trying to create a context-sensitive Microsoft Help with FM12 only using the abilities of FM (no RoboHelp). For some reasons, my assigned ID's are not used in the generated chm file and therefore the help does not work context-sensitively.
    What did I do?
    - I created my FM files and assigned topic aliases to the headers. I did this two ways: a) using the "Special" menue and assigning a CSH marker and/or b) setting a new marker of type "Topic Alias" and typing the ID. I used only numeric IDs like "2000" or "4200",
    - I created a .h file (projectname.h) - based on the format of the file projectname_!Generated!.h (I read this in some instructions). So the .h file (text file) looks like this:
    #define 2000 2000 /* 4 Anwendungsoberfläche */
    #define 2022 2022 /* 4.1.1 Menü Datei */
    #define 2030 2030 /* 4.1.3 Menü Parametersatz */
    #define 2180 2180 /* 6.6.7 Objektdialog Q-Regler */
    #define 2354 2354 /* 6.9.2 Objektdialog Extran Parameter */
    #define 2560 2560 /* 6.9.5 Objektdialog Extran2D Parametersatz */
    - I published the Microsoft HTML Help. A projectname_!Generated!.h has been created. My IDs were not used in this file:
    #define 2000    1
    #define 2022    2
    #define 2030    3
    #define 2180    4
    #define 2354    5
    #define 2560    6
    - When I open the .chm file and look in the source code, the ID even is totally different. It is not the one, I assigned in FM, it is not the one which I assigned in the projectname.h file and it even is not the one, which was put in the projectname_!Generated!.h file. It is a generated name starting with CSH_1 ...n in a consecutive way numbered.
    Example:
    <p class="FM_Heading1"><a name="XREF_72066_13_Glossar"></a>Gloss<a name="CSH_1"></a>ar</p>
    What goes wrong? Why does FM not take my assigned IDs? I need to use these IDs since our programmers are using those already - I had to re-create the whole online help but the programs stay untouched.
    Please help!
    Many thanks
    Mohi

    Hi Jeff,
    thanks for your note!
    The text in my marker is just a number like "2000" or "4200". As said, I created manually a my.h file and used this marker there. E.g.
    #define 2000 2000.
    Whereby the first 2000 (in my opinion) is the marker text and the second 2000 is the context ID which the programmers are using for the context sensitive call of the help. My definitions in the my.h file were translated to #define 2000 1 (in the my_!Generated!.h file). The source code "translates" the context ID into CSH_8.
    I am still confused :-/
    Thanks
    Mohi
