Help with DW layers/menus

Hi,
I am having a time trying to get the Dreamweaver rollover
function with layers to work in creating webpage menus that you can
rollover and hyperlink to. The page I am working on is at
http://anne.swva.net/pcof/ ,
and if you scroll over Worship you can see what I mean...on rollout
it disappears without any time to select a hyperlink subpage (not
linked yet.)
An example of the page I need it to work like is
http://www.greenadvantage.org
, and any of the top bar menu items there.
I am working in Dreamweaver 4, and this is for a non profit,
a local church. Any help is appreciated!

Hi,
Note the show/hides on the images above and below the Worship
image,
note too the new layer ('closer' - you might want to give it
a temporary
background colour so that you can better see what is
happening - remove
the background colour when you have an understanding) which
also has
show/hides attached - anyway.....
try this - in code view replace everything with this....

  • Help with collapsible/expandable menus

    I am creating a webpage with collapsible/expandable menus and am having problems with ones of the menus (the menus I am talking about are labelled as BlackBerry, Smartphone, etc). When I open the webpage, I want the collapsible menus to be closed until you click on the header image, but one of them always opens automatically. Please see the webpage I am working on, www.scomputing.com/mobility.html ... I am having problems with the 'Superphone' menu.

    You need to add -  $('.Superphones_Table').hide();  - to the scripts.js file (see below)
    $(document).ready(function(){
                              $('.Ultimate_Webhosting_Package_Table').hide();
                              $('.Free_Webhosting_Table').hide();
                              $('.Ecommerce_Webhosting_Table').hide();
                              $('.BlackBerry_Table').hide();
                              $('.Smartphone_Table').hide();
                              $('.Superphones_Table').hide();

  • Help with Moving Layers

    I am working on the porfolio section of my web, and I am
    using the "show hide" function with layers to rollover and show
    larger image. The layer in dreamweaver moves when you resizing the
    screen. Is there a way of fixing that?

    These two links are not helping your cause -
    <link rel="stylesheet"
    href="file:///E|/webcentered/Templates/aboutus.css"
    type="text/css">
    <link rel="stylesheet"
    href="Artistic%20Media%20Graphic%20Design_files/aboutus.css"
    type="text/css">
    The first one is broken, since it points to a file on your
    hard drive. The
    second one is liable to break because you have used spaces in
    the
    file/pathnames (which you should not do for the web).
    The root of your problem is this -
    <td>
    <div id="sienna" style="position:absolute; width:242px;
    height:302px; z-index:1; left: 349px; top: 357px; visibility:
    visible"><img
    src="Portfolio/images/sienna_04.jpg" width="245"
    height="309"></div>
    You must never put absolutely positioned elements directly
    into table cells.
    For your penance, you will visit this link and read -

  • Help with multiple layers moving position

    Hi I am new to After effects so apologies if this is a daft question.
    I have a map as my main layer and I have created a text layer.I want to animate the position of the map which can easily be done.However all other layers move with the map layer.So if I move across the map all other layers moves aswell.When I want them to stay in a fixed position
    I would be grateful for any help
    Thanks

    We can't know anything without knowing the structure of your project, what you animate exactly and so on. Layers don't automatically move in unison, that would only happen if they are pre-composed, parented or linked with expressions or your footage is a flattened file in the first place. Conversely, moving the camera in a 3D scene naturalyl would make all 3D layers respond to that camera, but not 2D layers. anyway, we realyl can't know what's going on without more info. Screenshots of the timeleine might tell a lot....

  • Help with Positioning Layers is Browser

    Hello,
    I'm new to Dreamweaver, and I'm having trouble getting past
    this first stage:
    I want to begin with a background picture, and put blocks of
    text on top of the picture in certain areas ( I have been putting
    the text in layers). I have an image inserted into a table so that
    it stays centered in the browser. When I view the image with the
    text on top (in layers) in the browser though, the text is not
    aligned the way it appears in dreamweaver. It is always off center
    towards the left.
    Is it possible to design the layout so that the text or
    whatever is in the layer can overlap on top of an image? Maybe I am
    going by this the wrong way.
    Thanks,

  • Help with  pop-up menus specific to JText Fields

    hello,
    I am somewhat new to the popup menu aspect of java and so I was wondering how I can implement one popup menu to multiple and specificJTextFields.
    What I am looking for is a way that a menu selection can use information specific to the JTextField where the user clicked.
    I have tried this already but I have a problem where one selection in a given textfield will spread it to all the textfields with mouselisteners.
    Any help would be most appreciated!

    I am somewhat new to the popup menu aspect of java...So create a simple program to test how you think it should work. If it doesn't work, then you have some code to post on the forum so we can see exactly what you are doing. Something like:
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.awt.event.*;
    import javax.swing.*;
    import javax.swing.text.*;
    public class PopupTest extends JFrame implements MouseListener
         JPopupMenu popup;
         public PopupTest()
              popup = new JPopupMenu();
              popup.add( new DefaultEditorKit.CutAction() );
              popup.add( new DefaultEditorKit.CopyAction() );
              popup.add( new DefaultEditorKit.PasteAction() );
              JTextField textField = new JTextField("Right Click For Popup");
              textField.addMouseListener( this );
              getContentPane().add(textField);
         private void checkForPopup(MouseEvent e)
              if (e.isPopupTrigger())
                   popup.show(e.getComponent(), e.getX(), e.getY());
         public void mousePressed(MouseEvent e)
              checkForPopup( e );
         public void mouseReleased(MouseEvent e)
              checkForPopup( e );
         public void mouseClicked(MouseEvent e) {}
         public void mouseEntered(MouseEvent e) {}
         public void mouseExited(MouseEvent e) {}
         public static void main(String[] args)
              JFrame frame = new PopupTest();
              frame.setDefaultCloseOperation( JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE );
              frame.pack();
              frame.setLocationRelativeTo( null );
              frame.show();
    }

  • Need help with pop up menus...

    Hi guys, hope u can help me with this. Im working on a flash
    website. I have to include a pop up menu which I have managed to
    create no problem. However, when I try to make the buttons inside
    the pop up to change to another scene when clicked I cant get them
    to work. This is the code I've used:
    on (release) {
    _root.gotoAndStop("Student_area","tests");
    I have defined the action to go to the frame labeled "tests"
    in the "Student_area" scene as I have been told in a tutorial I
    have. However when I test it and click on it nothing happens. I
    have tried many variations such as simply telling it to take me to
    the students scene like I would do with a normal button but still
    nothing happens.
    What am I doing wrong?
    Hope someone can help me, gotta submit this soon.
    Thanks in advance.

    bump...
    Anyone?? Please.

  • Help with Layers

    Hi,
    I need some help with Layers? Here is a link to a simple page
    layout with 1 blue table, and 1 small green box. Both have a
    capital "I" on the left. The table was aligned to "center" in DW.
    http://sfrcreations.com/tbe.html
    When I built this page at home, on my tiny 12" monitor, the
    letters lined up over each other. When I look at it on larger
    monitors, they no longer line up. I did have a suspicion that this
    would happen due to my lack of knowledge of layers. So, my question
    is. How does one, with a centered table, get a layer to always
    appear where the designer wants it to no matter what the browser
    size is. For instance if you move the browser to different sizes,
    the blue box follows, but the layer stays where it is?
    Are the menus on this forum site and the Adobe site in
    general done by using layers? I ask, because if so, this site is
    centered, and the layers seem to adjust to any browser size.
    By the way, I am using Dreamweaver 8.
    Thanks for any help!

  • Help with Saving Progressive Layers as Video or Files

    Hi, I am interested in creating an animated video with Photoshop. I have 80+ layers, each one building on the last. For example, layer 1 is a simple horizontal line ( - ). Layer 2 is a simple vertical line ( | ). With both layers on, they form a cross ( + ). Layer 1 must be visible for layer 2 to make sense, within the video. So, each previous layer must remain visible when the next layer is turned on. Then the next, then the next.
    Previously, I have manually saved layer 1 as a JPG, turned on layer 2 and saved the new file, turned on layer 3, saved the next new file,and so on, until I go through all layers. Then I used a video editing program to put the files in sequence and render it as a video.
    I am hoping PS (CS5) can help me. I need to render a video with each layer turning on (perhaps a .03 second delay, like in the animation strip) but with all previous layers remaining on. Onion skin's max layers is 8, so that doesn't work for me.
    If I can't render the video directly from PS, how can I create an action that will
    1. save file without a prompt as JPG with the layer name as the file name, in the directory where the PSD file resides
    2. make visible the next layer up (or down, whatever)
    3. repeat until all layers are complete, no matter how many layers

    They aren't necessarily only line drawings. As an animated video, it may be line drawings, then a photo, then drawings on the photo. So it's something like this:
    layer 0 = black background
    layer 1 = white vertical line
    layer 2 = blue horizontal line
    layer 3 = photograph in the upper left corner
    layer 4 = blue dot over the photograph
    An example of one of my shorter films is
    I did that by saving every layer as a separate JPG, then putting it together in a video editor. That's how I've always done it, but that won't work anymore due to the volume of the layers.

    My daughter has had her Razr for about 9 months now.  About two weeks ago she picked up her phone in the morning on her way to school when she noticed two cracks, both starting at the camera lens. One goes completely to the bottom and the other goes sharply to the side. She has never dropped it and me and my husband went over it with a fine tooth comb. We looked under a magnifying glass and could no find any reason for the glass to crack. Not one ding, scratch or bang. Our daughter really takes good care of her stuff, but we still wanted to make sure before we sent it in for repairs. Well we did and we got a reply from Motorola with a picture of the cracks saying this was customer abuse and that it is not covered under warranty. Even though they did not find any physical damage to back it up. Well I e-mailed them back and told them I did a little research and found pages of people having the same problems. Well I did not hear from them until I received a notice from Fed Ex that they were sending the phone back. NOT FIXED!!! I went to look up why and guess what there is no case open any more for the phone. It has been wiped clean. I put in the RMA # it comes back not found, I put in the ID #, the SN# and all comes back not found. Yet a day earlier all the info was there. I know there is a lot more people like me and all of you, but they just don't want to be bothered so they pay to have it fix, just to have it do it again. Unless they have found the problem and only fixing it on a customer pay only set up. I am furious and will not be recommending this phone to anyone. And to think I was considering this phone for my next up grade! NOT!!!!

  • Need help with show/hide and layers moving

    I'm more of a designer, so I don't know code or CSS well at
    all. I'm doing an online portfolio for a class and need help with
    layers not staying in place in different browsers. The portfolio is
    created with a table, but I wanted to use the show/hide function
    for thumbnails of work. Are layers the only way you can use this
    function? I read layers don't work well with tables, so how else
    can I make it so when you mouse over a thumbnail, the larger image
    appears in another cell?

    > I don't know code or CSS well at all.
    That's unfortunate.
    > layers not staying in place in different browsers.
    Layers don't move. But the rest of your page does.
    Before you get too wrapped up in layers, though, please read
    this -
    http://www.great-web-sights.com/g_layerlaws.asp
    They are not good when be used as a primary layout method.
    > I read layers don't work well with tables
    They work fine with tables - but you have to understand both
    tables and
    layers to use them.
    Why not show us your page, so we can see what you are
    struggling with?

  • Help with images in Spry menus

    I need help making this work: I want my menu buttons and
    submenu buttons to be images rather than text. I've been able to
    set it up to use different images for each of the main and
    sub-level buttons, but only for the active state. I cannot figure
    out how to use a different set of "hover images" for the hover
    state. Note-- Each button and submenu button in the entire menu are
    different images, so I suspect I need to use different ID's for
    each, but I am not sure how to set that up in the
    SpryMenuBarHorizontal.css file for each different button in, at
    least, the active and hover states. Can anyone offer some help with
    this?:

    V1 - Thank you for the suggestion, but this does not exactly
    solve my dilemma. In its simplest terms, this is what I want to do:
    Create a single drop-down menu where there is "Item 1" with
    submenus "Item 1.1", "Item 1.2", and "Item 1.3". But, I want to use
    different images for each item and subitem in their Active and
    Hover states. So, in this example, there would be 8 different
    images... An Active and a Hover image for each of Item 1, Item 1.1,
    Item 1.2 and Item 1.3.
