Help with Importing and Editing an Image

Hello All,
I am working on a project where I need to import an image into LabView and edit it. The gist of my program is that I want to create a VI that generates an interactive floorplan.
I want to be able to import the bitmap or png into my file so I can edit the file by assigning flashing colors to each room, etc.
I tried to import the .png by wiring "Read png" --> "Draw Flattened Pixmap" --> "new picture".
When I run the program I get a "general I/O" error in the "Read PNG" block even though it lets me select which png I can import.
Does LabVIEW 8.5 not allow for importing PNG files? Does anyone have any idea why I am getting this error?
On another note, I was reading about some of the IMAQ VI's and they seem like they may work for importing an image and creating graphics, etc. Should I try to delve a little deeper into the IMAQ stuff?
Thanks much for the help!

Great call on checking whether it was just a bad file.
I tried to convert it from a .bmp to a .png by simply renaming it which LabVIEW did not like...
So I just opened it up and re-saved it with photo editing software and it worked!
Now I just have to play around with my editing options to get the graphics I want.
I'll post some sample code just for suggestions that anyone may have. This is just my preliminary structure without most of my condition statements. All the code inside the case structures will be added when I figure all this stuff out.
My goal is to have each strobe and interlock correspond to a different graphic on the floorplan. For example, when strobe 1 reads red, I want the corresponding room to flash red and vice versa with green and yellow. Also, when interlock 1 reads false, I want a flashing light to pop up next to the corresponding door.
Anyone have any ideas for how to make these kinds of graphics? I figured I may be able to use a color box for the solid colors and LEDs for the flashing lights but I would rather edit the pixels to make it look more professional.
Thanks for all the help!

  • Please help trouble importing and editing songs

i recently lost my itunes library file, then had trouble re-installing itunes after another problem, and now am having a new problem as i am attempting to re-add everything to my itunes library.
i have noticed some files are (seemingly at random) not being added to my library. other songs from the same album, folder, etc are being added as normal, (they are all in mp3 format)but others are just not showing up in the library.
when i tried to drag these files from my folder in windows explorer to itunes, i got the little crossed out circle icon informing me they could not be added. as stated, they are in a compatible format.
with a bit of fiddling about i discovered that if i renamed these files the could be added. but some of these such files do not allow me to edit the information anymore. (when i right click i just see options such as open with, add to windows media player list, etc) but not options to rename or even copy, paste, delete, etc.
any idea what might be going on? this is very strange and extremely frustrating. until the past few weeks i have been so happy with the performance of itunes but it has been absolutely nothing but trouble lately.

I don't have any sure-fire solutions, but I do have a suggestion: rather than opening the whole CS6 project and going through the whole conversion process, try importing just the sequence(s) from the CS6 project into a new CC project. There are a couple of ways to do so: 1) File>Import, select "Import Selected Sequences," then pick the desired ones, or 2) drill down to the project in Media Browser, which will show you it's contents, then drag and drop the sequence(s) into the Project panel.
I found a few bug reports in the same neighborhood. They were all fixed in the release you're using. But each was specific to a particular file type, so you may have hit on a case that we didn't exercise. It could really help us nail this down if you provided one small clip that CC is balking at and, ideally, a CS6 project containing that clip.

  • Please help with importing and using imovie and idvd

    Hi,
Please forgive my lack of knowledge. I previously had a mini dv camcorder that was so easy to use with imovie hd. Now that I have switched to an HD Usb 2.0 camcorder that has built in 16gb memory and memory cards, I have had such a great deal of trouble. I really hope you can help and point me in the right directions.
Importing movies are fine, but they take so long! Currently, when I import a movie, I set the camcorder to PC mode and import through imovie. But the camcorder stays on, and I'm not sure if this is the best way or healthiest for the camcorder. Do you have a better/faster way to import movies? Is there a way to drag the video from the memory onto the computer, and then from there import the movie? I think at least I wouldn't have to leave the camcorder on.
Also, one major issue I have is that each movie is broken down into 100 or so clips. I coach basketball, and videotape the games. When there is stoppage, I pause the camcorder. I guess that creates so many clips, so that when the film is imported, there are over 100 clips for the entire movie. Is there a way of making that just 1 entire movie/clip?
Once I have imported the entire movie, which is 100+ clips, I want to simply create a dvd of the game. I know I have to share it, but do you have a better suggestion as to how I should handle this?
In the past, all I did was import the mini dv movie into imovie HD, share into idvd, and then that was it, dvd made. This process had become so time consuming.
    Please help!

Yes, I recognized there would be a slight pause between clips - but after all - you paused the camera at those points.
Putting them all in sequence in iMovie and then encoding in iDVD will take a lot of time.
An old favorite saying of mine is "not every job worth doing, is worth doing well'. The meaning being sometimes 95% is good enough so you can go on to the next job.
How much work do you want to put into each DVD? Can you live with the slight pauses?
would you suggest using a memory card?
Yes, but 16GB cards aren't cheap (yet).

  • Newbie Help with videocameras and editing software

I am a third grade teacher who can whip around in imovie pretty well, but I want to expand and post training videos to the web. I also want to vodcast. I need a relatively easy videocamera, and of course, reasonably priced. I don't understand all the mumbo jumbo about the dvd, tape, flash videocameras except to know that some are not compatible with osx.
Also would I be better off with Final Cut Pro Express?
    Help to a newbie...

OK now I am looking and I want this camera to be compatible with imovie also. On the Apple support page along side the Canon's I am looking at I see:
    Video stabilization limitations more...
Filming in Cinema or 24p mode more...
What? Goodness could this be anymore complicated?
It's very intimidating at first. The short answer is that all this is compatible with iMovie.
    The longer one is:
The number refers to frames per second (frame rate, in the jargon). Cine cameras run at 24 frames per second, so 24 fps is considered to give a look to moving objects similar to what you'd see in a filmed movie (think wagon wheels appearing to go backwards in old westerns).
p refers to progressive, and means that you're getting 24 complete frames each second - again like film (this idea of mimicking film is the holy grail to some video makers - I say video is video, and should be treated like video). The opposite of progressive is i, for interlaced. Interlacing is a technique used in television since the early days as a way of giving you a better looking TV picture; in interlacing, instead of looking at each frame as a whole, you split it into very narrow lines, then scan al the odd ones, followed by all the even ones. In the old days, the scanning had to be linked to the way in which the electricity supply worked, so scanning was based on a frequency of 60 cycles per second (in the USA).
So in video, you will see camcorders offering a frame rate of 60i as standard - i.e. 60 interlaced frames in one second.. They usually also offer 30p (which combines the results of 2 60i scans to give you 30 complete frames. And then as you've seen, 24p so you can make it look like film.
You can shoot good movies in any of those frame rates; which ones you choose are up to you, but they're all used by many people for many different purposes. Some people will tell you you must use frame rate x for subject y. Listen, but don't follow blindly - try it out and see what works for you.
The issue you will sometimes here debated about iMovie is how to take video you have shot interlaced, and get iMovie to export it as progressive, but still in high quality. Don't worry about that right now.
Just get a camcorder you like, and make some movies. First feel really proud of them, then learn some more, and feel embarrassed by them (this is what we all do!).
    Hope that helps.

  • Need Help With ASR and Deploying InstaDMG Image

    Hi,
Okay, so I got my client machine to boot up from a netinstall image over my network. It sounds like I might be able to do this in a more efficient way, but for now, I'm happy with the way I got it to work.
Now, I'm perplexing over how to deploy the installation packages and operating system I've prepared with InstaDMG. I'm totally confused. On the client machine, using the netinstall image, I went to Disk Utility. There, I can select my client machine hard drive, and choose the Restore tab. But, the only image in the list to choose from, is the netinstall image. How can I use the InstaDMG set up I've created and put on my server? Is there a way to "add" that folder and its materials to the Disk Utility window?

    Hello,
Okay, so I ended up remaking my instaDMG, because for some reason there seemed to be an issue with it. Here is where I am.
InstaDMG image created (started with only the Operating System and OS Updates). Put this on the server and mounted it. Opened System Image Utility and turned the InstaDMG into a NetInstall image. Saved NetInstall image into the same folder as my previous netinstall image (that I'm booting my client machines from), which is in /Library/Netboot/NetBootSP0 folder. Enabled the new netinstall image using system admin tool.
Rebooted my client machine to the network. I expected it to give me a choice about which netinstall image I wanted to boot the machine from. It only sees the first netinstall image I made (which was just to boot the machine from an OS so I could install my instaDMG image).
What am I doing wrong and how can I make my client machine see the new instaDMG netinstall image?
    Thanks!

  • Importing and editing footage with two different cameras

I am editing a film that has footage caught and imported from two different cameras. Some of the footage is from a handheld HD camera that I have worked with before and use an "Easy Setup of Apple Intermediate Codec, 29.97 fps, HDV Apple Intermediate Codec 1080i60." I want to add some video footage that I shot with my Canon Rebel t2i. I searched a number of threads and concluded that when working with a project shot with the t2i, I should have the the Easy Setup be "HD, 29.97fps, DVCPRO HD 1080p30" (side question: is this correct?). My question is when starting a project where I will be using footage from both cameras, what Easy Setup should I use and is there anything else I should keep in mind?

Shane-- Thanks for the willingness to help. I am in Helena, but travel all over the state for work--I am a fly fishing and bird hunting guide who likes to do some amateur filming and editing on the side. Love Missoula, Bozeman, Flathead area, etc! And since you are willing to be so helpful, I guess I should start with a go Cats!
I am brand new to FCP, having previously worked a fair amount with FCE4. I actually do have FCP 7 and work with it on my Macbook Pro. My handheld camera is a JVC Everio that captures in AVCHD (1920x1080). I had my Easy Setup in FCE4 as Apple Intermediate Codec. If I use footage from this camera in FCP7, should I continue to do this?
So not only am I new to FCP7, but I just bought the T2i and really am not totally sure what I am doing yet. I just got the Canon EOS Movie Plug-in and modified it according to some threads I read so that it works for the T2i. I also found directions on the Canon website on the proper way to Log and Transfer for T2i footage (side question: can I dump the files off my T2i onto an external HD and then Log and Transfer them into FCP7 from the external, and is there anything I need to know about when doing this?)
So now that you know that I am very knew to FCP7 and the T2i, maybe I should start from scratch. When I log and transfer, what format should I use when I transcode? ProRes 442? And then, however you suggest I should transcode, what should my Easy Setup look like for footage from the T2i?
Wow, if you are still reading at this point, and I haven't exhausted you with all of my questions and naivety, my final question is...once I have become comfortable with importing and editing footage from the T2i, what should I do if I want to log and transfer and then edit footage from both cameras? Do I need to change the Easy Setup? Do I need to make other changes?
Thanks again in advance for all of your help and patience!!!

  • Need help to import and syncronize HCM pagelets with Interaction Hub, how can I do that?

    Hi,
I need help to import and synchronize HCM pagelets with Interaction Hub, how can I do that? The default page "Select Remote Content" of the WorkCenter "Unified Navigation WorkCenter" is not working as well, when I run the import/sync button I get the following error message:
Integration Gateway: General Connection Failed (158,10836)
This error is thrown when there is no valid response.
    Possible errors include:
    Bad gateway URL
Sync Service Timeout set and Service actually timed out.
Java exception thrown - Check Application Server for possible Java exception

Do you have integration configured between the two systems?  It sounds like you don't from the error.  Here is a walk-through on setting up Unified Navigation although it assumes you have integration already working.  If you haven't done that, it's documented a hundred different places.

This format is already compatible with Bluray3D stereoscopic format.
    1) But, how to edit the .MVC in Premiere?
    2) What plugin should I use (if exists) for PremiereProCS5?
    3) Cineform Neo3D, can manage the .MVC format? Can convert it to Cineform format file, for import it into Premiere?
    4) What software should I use to convert an .MVC video to an AVCHD H.264 file, and import it into PremierePro CS5 or CS5.5 for editing?
    Thanks!

Sorry, I am Italian, it is very difficult for me to understand what he says!
I can just read the english text, or follow the actions of a videotutorial!
Thus my question is the same:
    -What software can do that?
-Sony Vegas 10 do the Bluray3D authoring?
-For MVC editing, should I wait for Adobe CS6? Or is it planned an update for CS5.5?

  • Import and edit Excel 2004 graphs?

There are specific features of Office 2004 that cannot be reproduced anywhere else it seems  – specifically Excel 2004's ability to print a graph to a specific size.
So I have to keep separate Snow Leopard (the last OS with Rosetta) machines because of this.  Snow Leopard won't run off external drives on newer machines.
Is there any other software that can import and edit Excel graphs? I receive all my manuscripts from authors with these, but they need standardising to common formats for publication - there are many and there is no time to remake each graph from scratch. Only Excel 2004 under Snow Leopard seems to be the only way of printing (esp to pdf) these graphs to size. According to Microsoft this is a 'known issue' in 2008 and 2011.
    Help!

Can't answer you but am responding in hopes someone else can.
Disclaimer: I no longer have 2004 or 2008 and am using 2011 now.
Exchanging chart images (whether tiff, png, pdf, jpg) is always a challenge - not only between different OS and applications but also within same OS.
Editing the chart itself that you receive would be a good trick if you mean editing the columns, lines etc.
I think one solution would be to get the authors whom you deal with to standardize their output and format(s).
Once in a while I found that importing an object into PowerPoint (2011) as an interim step has helped.

  • Help with importing .mov file from iphoto

I have a casio exilim ex-z1080 digital camera. I have imported the jpg and mov files into iphoto, but can't seem to get it to import into imovie. i read a similar post to mine but could not understand. can anyone help in lay person's terms?
how do i get imovie to recognize the file?

What do you think is the best program to do this? is it QuickTime?
You can use MPEG Streamclip (free), GarageBand (part of iLife), or QT Pro ($30). Each will allow you to convert to any of the iMovie '08 compatible compression formats. (Just avoid Apple Animation and Apple Video which import and edit but do not export properly.) For simplicity, I would normally use use MPEG and convert to DV. This work flow produces a file that can be handled by almost any video editor and, since the format is very standardized, leaves few settings for the use to enter. All you really ned do is select the "Export to DV" File menu option, select any of the compression pop-ups (default DV25 is okay), enter your standard (NTSC or PAL), and set your aspect ratio (either 4:3 or 16:9). It is also a good habit to resample the audio to 48 Khz for consistency. Other that that, you can generally ignore the other settings. (You can also make adjustments to volume, brightness, contrast, and saturation as part of the conversion, but this isn't necessary if you are going to edit in iMovie '08 anyway.) The nice thing about this application is that it sets the anamorphic flag as part of your conversion which iMovie '08 uses in conjunction with the project properties to properly preview (or pad for preview when aspect of project does not match aspect of source file) and to set proper export dimensions (padded or otherwise) for the project aspect ratio output.

  • I am going on an Alaskan Cruise that has no internet service, can I still import and edit my photos? Do I have to have internet for Lightroom 5?

I am going on an Alaskan Cruise that has no internet service, can I still import and edit my photos? Do I have to have internet for Lightroom 5?  Any help with this question would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

If you have purchased the perpetual license version of Lightroom, no internet is needed.
Someone else can probably answer if you have the Creative Cloud version, but I seem to recall that it only has to "log in" to Adobe to check that you've paid once every 30 days.

  • IPhoto is quitting unexpectedly and losing the photos I just imported and edited.

iPhoto is quitting unexpectedly and losing the photos I just imported and edited.  Any suggestions to fix it?

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Internal table with Import and Export

    Hi All,
    Hi all
Please let me know the use of <b>Internal table with Import and Export parameters and SET/GET parameters</b>, on what type of cases we can use these? Plese give me the syntax with some examples.
Please give me detailed analysis on the above.
    Regards,
    Prabhu

    Hi Prabhakar,
There are three types of memories.
    1. ABAP MEMORY
    2. SAP MEMORY
    3. EXTERNAL MEMORY.
1.we will use EXPORT/ IMPORT TO/ FROM MEMORY-ID when we want to transfer between ABAP memory
    2. we will use GET PARAMETER ID/ SET PARAMETER ID to transfer between SAP MEMORY
    3. we will use EXPORT/IMPORT TO/FROM SHARED BUFFER to transfer between external memory.
ABAP MEMORY : we can say that two reports in the same session will be in ABAP MEMORY
SAP MEMORY: TWO DIFFERENT SESSIONS WILL BE IN SAP MEMORY.
for ex: IF WE CALL TWO DIFFERENT TRANSACTIONS SE38, SE11
then they both are in SAP MEMORY.
EXTERNAL MEMORY: TWO different logons will be in EXTERNAL MEMORY.
    <b>Syntax</b>
To fill the input fields of a called transaction with data from the calling program, you can use the SPA/GPA technique. SPA/GPA parameters are values that the system stores in the global, user-specific SAP memory. SAP memory allows you to pass values between programs. A user can access the values stored in the SAP memory during one terminal session for all parallel sessions. Each SPA/GPA parameter is identified by a 20-character code. You can maintain them in the Repository Browser in the ABAP Workbench. The values in SPA/GPA parameters are user-specific.
ABAP programs can access the parameters using the SET PARAMETER and GET PARAMETER statements.
    To fill one, use:
SET PARAMETER ID <pid> FIELD <f>.
This statement saves the contents of field <f> under the ID <pid> in the SAP memory. The code <pid> can be up to 20 characters long. If there was already a value stored under <pid>, this statement overwrites it. If the ID <pid> does not exist, double-click <pid> in the ABAP Editor to create a new parameter object.
To read an SPA/GPA parameter, use:
GET PARAMETER ID <pid> FIELD <f>.
This statement fills the value stored under the ID <pid> into the variable <f>. If the system does not find a value for <pid> in the SAP memory, it sets SY-SUBRC to 4, otherwise to 0.
To fill the initial screen of a program using SPA/GPA parameters, you normally only need the SET PARAMETER statement.
The relevant fields must each be linked to an SPA/GPA parameter.
On a selection screen, you link fields to parameters using the MEMORY ID addition in the PARAMETERS or SELECT-OPTIONS statement. If you specify an SPA/GPA parameter ID when you declare a parameter or selection option, the corresponding input field is linked to that input field.
On a screen, you link fields to parameters in the Screen Painter. When you define the field attributes of an input field, you can enter the name of an SPA/GPA parameter in the Parameter ID field in the screen attributes. The SET parameter and GET parameter checkboxes allow you to specify whether the field should be filled from the corresponding SPA/GPA parameter in the PBO event, and whether the SPA/GPA parameter should be filled with the value from the screen in the PAI event.
When an input field is linked to an SPA/GPA parameter, it is initialized with the current value of the parameter each time the screen is displayed. This is the reason why fields on screens in the R/3 System often already contain values when you call them more than once.
When you call programs, you can use SPA/GPA parameters with no additional programming overhead if, for example, you need to fill obligatory fields on the initial screen of the called program. The system simply transfers the values from the parameters into the input fields of the called program.
However, you can control the contents of the parameters from your program by using the SET PARAMETER statement before the actual program call. This technique is particularly useful if you want to skip the initial screen of the called program and that screen contains obligatory fields.
    Reading Data Objects from Memory
To read data objects from ABAP memory into an ABAP program, use the following statement:
    Syntax
    IMPORT <f1> [TO <g 1>] <f 2> [TO <g 2>] ... FROM MEMORY ID <key>.
This statement reads the data objects specified in the list from a cluster in memory. If you do not use the TO <g i > option, the data object <f i > in memory is assigned to the data object in the program with the same name. If you do use the option, the data object <f i > is read from memory into the field <g i >. The name <key> identifies the cluster in memory. It may be up to 32 characters long.
You do not have to read all of the objects stored under a particular name <key>. You can restrict the number of objects by specifying their names. If the memory does not contain any objects under the name <key>, SY-SUBRC is set to 4. If, on the other hand, there is a data cluster in memory with the name <key>, SY-SUBRC is always 0, regardless of whether it contained the data object <f i >. If the cluster does not contain the data object <f i >, the target field remains unchanged.
    Saving Data Objects in Memory
To read data objects from an ABAP program into ABAP memory, use the following statement:
    Syntax
    EXPORT <f1> [FROM <g 1>] <f 2> [FROM <g 2>] ... TO MEMORY ID <key>.
This statement stores the data objects specified in the list as a cluster in memory. If you do not use the option FROM <f i >, the data object <f i > is saved under its own name.
