Help with NTFS 3G in LAYMANS terms, please?!

If anyone can help, thank you in advance!
I am traveling in Central America with a MacBook Air, OS X 10.6.4. I just discovered that the 500 GB Seagate Freeagent GoFlex external drive that I brought with me to backup photos is Windows NTSF formatted. No bueno, I thought it was formatted otherwise. I have 60 GB on the external already that I do not want to lose, and do not have the space on the Air to copy those files over so as to re-format the external to FAT32, so I can begin to backup my photos.
What is the most reasonable solution at this moment, do you think?? To be fair, I am a wildlife biologist and am much more adept at trekking through jungles, handling tarantulas, and understanding Spanish than translating most of the language and discussions on this forum! Apologies in advance.
I found this post, but do not understand what most of this means (I have no clue how to 'open a terminal', and I have no idea what a 'volume label' is, where to find it, or what the volume label on my seagate would be). I am also unsure if I can do this securely without losing anything I currently have on this computer, or really messing things up as they are now:

So....could anyone please help?! Is this something I can easily do while retaining what little sanity I have left?? Can someone please tell me, baby step by baby step how to use/write to my NTFS-formatted external drive from my MacBook Air?? Otherwise, it is useless dead weight in my backpack......muchas gracias in advance!!!!

Hmm, I haven't heard of any significant risks with NTFS-3G, although I will admit Tuxera's free community-edition product seems to have lagged behind their commercial product. I have heard of instability and other problems using the terminal "hack" to activate native support. Certainly I had good success with NTFS-3G - although I eventually moved over to the commercial Tuxera NTFS product (mostly because I liked the support they were providing to update MacFUSE when Amit Singh withdrew from active development and figured it was a good way to show appreciation for their products). If you know of any widespread issues I'd be interested to learn of them.
In any case, assuming the OP didn't want to install from the command line, so to get NTFS-3G, you actually need to drill into one of the links and download the dmg from here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/catacombae/files/NTFS-3G%20for%20Mac%20OS%20X/20 10.10.2/ntfs-3g-2010.10.2-macosx.dmg/download
Alternatively, of course, is the commercial Tuxera product (with a 15 day trial): http://www.tuxera.com/products/tuxera-ntfs-for-mac/

HOWEVER - assess your risk tolerance before doing anything! If your data is critical and irreplaceable, and/or you have any concerns about system stability, then there's no harm in doing nothing (or finding some alternative solution to move your data to an HFS+ filesystem. Better safe than sorry is a perfectly good default position to adopt.

We have said thousand times that mixing dif. brand/make/speed memories is a bad idea, most with this Mobo that is very picky about ram. If you want to avoid slowdown problems, stay with only one stick ( the better one ) until you can buy at same time in same store, 2 identical memories to replace the old one.

I have an aluminium MacBook and a MiniDV camcorder. What I want to know is what are my options for getting my footage onto my laptop? I would love an answer in layman's terms please - some practical advise on the cheapest, most feasible way around this problem.

It's not possible unless your DVcamera has a feature that allows direct streaming to a hard drive.

Yes, my Audigy is plugged in correctly... I had these stereo speakers and they worked fine, but the problem was the same! My drivers won't install via the "Installer"... I have the original CD and all that crap, and still nothing! I only placed the Soundcard where it should be, but I don't know if I need any more wires...My speakers are plugged in like in Creative's Surround Demo etc... I'm now using Win2000[No Service Pack](i used, and I think I will revert to, Windows XP[SP])...What I want to know is: Can I use anything other than CMSS? Is there anything that could make an Audigy LS and a Cambridge Soundworks DTT2200 get along fine? Oh, and I have an Abit motherboard... The model is not important, as my speakers, soundcard, motherboard and a hell lot more come from a guy who sold them...And they worked fine on his PC! The biggest problem is with the drivers... I use the first PCI slot for the soundcard and it kinda works.....Please help if you have any idea...

I am getting closer to the answer I need about sending a text message to as many people as possible from as inexpensive a phone as possible. Thanks to Jalisinfo for your help with my previous post. I have pasted below the response I have been sent from the Nokia care team to my question. Can anyone help with the part they were unable to answer about how many recipients I would be able to send to using this phone? I need to be able to send to about 70 contacts. All the recipients would be the only people in the contacts list.
"Pertaining to our previous email, the Nokia 5210 does not support the SMS distribution list feature. On this device, you can send SMS to more than one contacts. This feature is known as "Send to many".
We are unable to advise on the number of contacts you can send the SMS at one time."

Ipod touch help with missing accept button for terms and conditions

I want to update my apps but when I try it tells me that i first have to accept the new terms and conditions, however, there is no accept button to click.
I have tried the other option to have it sent by e-mail but when I open the e-mail it's still the same with no accept button.
I went into settings and allowed cookies on safari.
I have an ipod touch 4th gen with ios 6.1.3. I am also not able to buy any apps, music , etc.
Someone PLEASE help!!!!

Under Safari settings I have also "cleared history" and "cleared cookies and data"
I have also given the i-pod both a restart, and a hard restart (holding the power and home buttons until the apple appears)
"private browsing" is set to off. "block pop-ups" is off too.

I need help with Importing songs into Creative organizer please help!

OK now i have a bunch of music files in my documents that all have MPEG4 with the itunes music symbol next to them. My problem is when i try to add them to my Windows media player nothing happens also when i search for the files in the Creative Import Wizard nothing shows up! Do i first need to put all the music i want on my ZVM im Windows Media Player first then add it's or is it something else? do i need to get rid of itunes entirely and just have the music files in my documents? Im really really confused please help!!!!!! Also No tracks show up when i try to add them to Windows Media Player or Creative MediaSource5 even though when i know i put them there

I guess you're referrring to a game named "Big Fish" which is installed in your system, and it stops working, right?
Here're solutions I found on the Big Fish forum:
Check error message.
Update your video card driver.
Kill the game via Task Manager, restart the game.
Run the game as Administrator.
Reinstall the game.
It's recommended to post this issue in Big Fish Forum for they're more familiar with this product.

Need some help with getting mail folders into Maverick please???

I have finally gotten my old Snow Leopard files transferred to Maverick partition on my hard drive but my mail did not pull over the old saved mailboxes with saved emails. How can I get those old saved emails into Mavericks so I can quit using Snow Leopard all together? The top picture below are my mailboxes you can see in Snow Leopard on the left of the screen (seems to have copied over the mail in my in-box but not my saved mailboxes. the second picture is what shows in Maverick. Can someone direct me on how to get my saved emails to Maverick please? All help is greatly appreciated and make the instructions simple, not real tech savy so need exact instructions. Also, is there any way to not group mail from the same person/company in a folder? Can't seem to find in preferences where you can get each email on a separate line. For instance if I get several emails from Apple Support it groups them into one folder and I would just as soon have them all listed separately in mail. Thanks again, Gary

In need of help with Shockwave from experts and community please.

I have seen posts where people are having the same issue with Chrome, but I am using Windows 8 playing my FB games using Firefox. I have filled out their little "box" that they ask me to about 10 times and I am over it. I went to see if my Adobe SW was installed right, but it doesn't show anything moving. The strange thing is...I had already uninstalled it and reinstalled it the day before. I do have screen shots that I would like to share, and I am asking if anyone else is getting this same error.
***What happens is I will be playing my game and then "poof" out of nowhere the 2 tabs I had opened are gone and I am back to my desktop.
***Another issue that comes up all the time, and then the tabs will close, is that a small rectangular box will come up and it goes away so fast you don't get a chance to read it.
But as I said I have screen shots.
Everything on my computer is up to date, my husband works in the IT field and he can build a computer from the guts up. That's how I know it is not on my end. Y'all don't know how much I really do appreciate the fact that you took the time to read my post and any suggestions on how to solve this issue.

Help with URL Parameters and HTML DataSet please.

Looking at the example page: "Using URL Parameters to Control Data Regions", towards the bottom it gives an example of "Set by Product Name", from an XML DataSet using the following sample code:

Can anyone please explain how to amend this to work with a HTML Dataset rather than XML?
The first example on the page (Set by RowID) works unchanged for the HTML DataSet, but I don't know what I should replace the 'setXPath' line with.
I see this has been asked before, but I'm afraid I can't find any answer that works (or, more often, that I can understand properly!)

The important thing for me (in this case, anyway) is to get the called page's content using its 'Ref', and I'm not sure what benefit there is in using stacked containers as opposed to master-detail containers.
The master-detail method works reasonably well for me at

Perhaps I am betraying my lack of knowledge, but as I said in my original post, I think that I just need the HTMLDataSet equivalent to:

Massive help with an iPhone Application...PLEASE! :(

Hello.
Since yesterday I have been trying to hunt down a bug in a simple iPhone application I made while following an exercise from the iPhone SDK Development book. Its a simple application with a navigation controller and a table view.
You can download my project at

In the main view when the application is opened, you see a list of items and an option to edit them or add an item. When you click on add, a new view controller is popped, you get a textfield and a keyboard, and when you are done you go back to the table view and the name you just entered is added to the list.
The problem is that as soon as you hit done on the keyboard, or click back on the navigation bar I get the following messages in the console:

I have reinstalled my developer tools, created a new project from scratch, added the frameworks again and nothing seems to work.
I though it might me something with my frameworks. But then I downloaded a bunch of the samples with table views and navigation controllers, and they all work fine. All my other applications work fine too, except this one.
I have spent all morning, and all afternoon yesterday trying to find out whats wrong, but im not an Xcode or Cocoa expert and I was hoping I could find some help.
The project can be downloaded for anyone to test with.
Please! any help I get would be gladly appreciated.

Ok I downloaded it, ran it on the simulator and everything was fine. Put it on my device and i got an EXCBADACCESS when I clicked the done button as you described.
EXCBADACCESS means something is getting released before you're trying to access it again. I opened the debug console to see this. Then I opened the debugger to find out exactly what the issue is. In my stack the last custom method that was called is [RootViewController addTeamNamed:] This makes me believe the array is being released.
Now I take your addTeamNamed method and pepper it with log statements:

The console output of which is: "A B C". Ok, no D, so that means the error is the in the insertRows... method.

You can't use S60 apps on 9210. And why would you need to From 3rd party sw, you usually see supported platforms. If S80 or 9210 is not mentioned, no need to buy that sw for 9210. Again, platform can't be updated to different version. 9210 has royal S80 platform, why would you like to downgrade that.
